  1. So I just looked on youtube and found Jackie's Dating Game appearance. She was using the name Jackie Fox at the time:
  2. Conor, Conor, Conor... When it's late in the game and you find the Daily Double, you have to bet so that if you are right you move into first place. First place is soooo valuable when you get to Final Jeopardy. If you had bet $5500 instead of $5000 you would have won today's game. I know it is easy for me to criticize from my the comfort of my couch while you were in the thick of the game, but still....this kind of thing bugs me.
  3. Vulture published this article: "The Women of Superstore Are Busting Taboos and Breaking Barriers" https://www.vulture.com/2018/12/superstore-women-amy-dina-pregnant-season-four.html
  4. This episode just ratcheted up my crush on America Ferrera. The hair and dress at the conference - she's got it going on. We definitely could use more Justine. And Sandra.
  5. Milana Vayntrub from the AT&T commercials
  6. I couldn't get FJ. I would have answered like Tori: that stone that the monarch sits on. Good game, but (my pet peeve) bad FJ wagering by Dhruv. Should have bet nothing, or just a little.
  7. I had no idea Cheyenne was that hot. Damn. I liked Mateo's Tippi Hedren.
  8. They hired Trebek to moderate the Pennsylvania Gubernatorial Debate https://deadspin.com/alex-trebek-opens-pennsylvania-gubernatorial-debate-wit-1829452557
  9. Doug and Andrew looked like twins - same jacket, beard, glasses - which is ironic considering Andrew missed the twins clue. Interesting wagering by Andrew in FJ. By interesting, I mean I think it was a poor wager. But it worked out for him. My initial instinct for FJ was Anna Anna Karenina, but then I second guessed and would have written Madam Bovary. A Kit Carson reference! It's like one of the writers was reading this forum.
  10. Good episode. References to #metoo, Shriners, confetti cannons. Dylan back, which will make a lot of people on this forum happy. Does this mean the British scientist is gone? He was my favorite Haley boyfriend.
  11. I thought it was going to be something like From Here to Eternity, but that was written by that other WWII author. Here's something wild: per Wikipedia, Herman Wouk is still alive at age 103. He is described as reclusive, but is presumably still alive.
  12. You gotta be enthusiastic on game shows! For FJ I thought sapphire, but couldn't connect it to a country. Then I thought turquoise in time so I would have got it. Surprised the contestants all missed itl
  13. Wile E. Coyote is my spirit animal. I wonder if they would have accepted just "the coyote". I think they should have (had any contestant written it) but Alex remarked about the (incorrect) spelling Wiley Coyote, so he seemed kind of sticklery.
  14. Creed. - Quality Assurance? Would this be done at a regional branch? Ryan in the later seasons. In the beginning he was a "business analyst" I guess - a job where you attempt to make things more efficient, produce metrics, etc. I don't know if he was doing that in later seasons. Pam after she became "office administrator". I doubt an office of this size would have a full-time office administrator. That job would be split among the branch manager, receptionist (receptionist is not a full-time job), and maybe Ryan.
  15. My local station switched up J! times for the new season. After years of it being on at 4:30, they now show it at 4:00 PM (Central). I tuned in late today and gasped when I saw Alex's beard. I was unspoiled about the beard. Anyway, runaway game. FJ easy to guess.
  16. "Facebook Live draft event." How embarrassing if you get picked last. (Not really in a cast of All Stars, but a draft inherently makes somebody come in last place.)
  17. Beverly D'Angelo was quite nice looking years ago and a dynamite comic actress. But the plastic surgery is not doing her any favors. Alyssa Milano, however, is hotter than ever.
  18. Best Looking Woman: Donna (Amy Pietz) Runner up: Susan California (Maura Tierney) Honorable mentions: Pam (in later seasons), Val, Karen Most admirable character: Dwight Runner-up: Creed Most inconsistent character: Ryan Runner-up Darryl
  19. I've been doing a rewatch of the series (not in order) and came across Scott's Tots yesterday. Don't think I saw it when it first aired. Holy cow, it was cringe-worthy. I actually fast forwarded through parts. Too painful. People point to The Dinner Party as an uncomfortable episode, but that one has nothing on Scott's Tots
  20. I think that's the last time we see his parents, but in a later episode we learn they have split, and the family has lost its money. Andy takes over the family finances and amazes everyone with his competence. He liquidates much of their property but can't bring himself to sell the yacht, which he takes for a trip.
  21. I was looking at the top-rated shows from the 1974-75 season in the US (per Wikipedia) 1. All in the Family 2. Sanford and Son 3. Chico and the Man 4. The Jeffersons 5. MASH 6. Rhoda 7. Good Times Three of the seven had black lead characters. One lead on Chico and the Man was Chicano (the actor was not Mexican but had a Puerto Rican mother.) All seven shows were comedies. That was over 40 years ago. There were fewer entertainment options then. If you run the numbers, it’s safe to say the large majority of people watching these shows were white. The same list for the 2016-17 season shows The Big Bang Theory number 1 with a rating of 11.5. That rating would not have put it in the top 30 shows in the 70s. The highest rated shows get small audiences compared to decades past. (As an aside, only one of the top 25 shows in 2016-17 was a comedy.) One thing that I wonder about it how people brag about how much more enlightened we are today and that we have more diversity on TV. Maybe a little, but we also have more audience fragmentation. Shows like Empire (ranked 23 in 2016-17), Blackish (59), Fresh Off the Boat (95) may have non-white casts, but non-white casts are nothing new and if the audience is so fragmented the impact on viewers of any show isn’t what it used to be. One good thing may be in the make-up of ensemble cast shows. NCIS and Gray’s Anatomy have a more diverse cast that similar shows may have had in the past. (Hawaii Five-O was multi-ethnic in both incarnations.) What do you think?
  22. The Good Place didn't even get nominated for the Emmy for outstanding comedy. (It got a couple acting nominations.) Anthony Bourdain got a posthumous nod from the TV critics? I've never seen that show and knew almost nothing about Bourdain when he died. Still, this somehow makes me feel good.
