  1. In Australia this was released the same year as Priscilla. In my mind, it was always a contest between the two while they were in cinemas, just cause they were both Australian comedies killing it at the box office. I preferred Priscilla and found it funnier BUT I am grateful that this movie reminded Australia how awesome ABBA was. When I watched Muriel for the first time I didn't find it as hilarious as Priscilla but given the years I now appreciate this movie as much as Priscilla and I wish Australian cinema would return to this level of comedy and film.
  2. I would literally watch a series dedicated to this lady's story. Well maybe not a series based on Gregory's views but Margaret Pole definitely deserves to be a lead role in a series.
  3. Well she did go to her chapel straight after to cleanse her soul, so I'm sure God approved haha. Just caught up on the last two episodes. I must say the previous episode was glorious for me because nearly everyone stuck up to the Almighty Pious Beaufort and called her out for her attitude but then this episode everyone decided to go back into letting her run the place. Is it too much to ask for some bricks to fall on her? I had the exact same thought, if Lina wanted to be discreet she should have set someone else, but I guess since this show has only given Catherine 2 ladies in waiting, it had to be Lina. I;m predicting that Rosa is sadly going to have an accident soon. Her man was far far too accepting and agreeable to the situation he has put her in. I found the 2nd episode not as engaging as it was full of people wandering around complaining about not being able to be with the person they love. I;m still finding myself having Wikipedia open while watching this show just to confirm that the big plot points actually happened.
  4. I have no idea if there is any CGI involved in this series, but man that teaser is bringing the wonder of the all puppet feel of the movie. Can't believe I have to wait 3 months for it.
  5. Firstly am I the only one who had no idea that the actress playing Margaret Tudor is Lucy from The Narnia movies?? I don't tune in for historical accuracy with adaptations of Gregory's work but this episode made my head spin with how quick Catherine moved on from Arthur. I often think series like these would benefit from a slight 3 months later caption or something. Cause the way it was presented I got the impression that Catherine was ready to jump Henry the day after her husband's funeral. I know Arthur and Catherine weren't married for long but I feel this series rushed through the marriage as an inconvenience. I have no idea when in history this series plans to end, but surely we could have gone a little slower with marriage number one. Never a fan when historical dramas make little jokes based upon the future and episode did it with Henry...oops I mean Harry gloating about his inability to put on weight despite eating everything in site. I am though enjoying see this part of Henry's life. Cinema/TV always enjoy jumping straight into The Great Matter so its easy to forget that Harry was a young prince before all that drama. I'm still enjoying it (even with all the melodrama) and I am still enjoying hating Beaufort. I hope she has a rewarding death.
  6. I'm just thankful Aladdin and Jasmine can hold a tune without obvious autotuning based on the samples I heard. A Whole New World sounds gorgeous. Will Smith is the weakest link as expected. I am a little bit disappoint that Jafar's song got cut. I know it's short but I do enjoy, I.m gonna guess the story has been tweaked a bit and it was deemed superfluous.
  7. The funny thing is while I was watching I had closed captioning on. At first I was like that's ash every where and then when we saw Drogon pop out of the ash I thought hmm maybe it's finally snowing. I;m confused. And then the closed captions popped up with #sound of crunching snow# so I'm like well that answers that but then apparently a 'few weeks later' there is no snow, so I went back to it must have been ash.
  8. Thank you, I understand the slight change in lyrics now. And now it will not bug me. Haha. That's why I decided to put that extra sentence on the end, Menken's songs written for animation weren't written to be performed by live actors at the same speed. Even the Broadway musicals are slowed down. Songs he writes for live action are fantastic and the speeds are written for humans not drawings.
  9. I did tweet to Kate that the song seemed like Glinda's response to Elphaba's Defying Gravity in a soon to be released Wicked 2: Oz Wins Eurovision. She liked the tweet. Made my night.
  10. That Prince Ali clip shows that Menken's music really isn't suited for live action. Or at least it's hard to adapt a song written for the animation medium is hard to adapt to the live action medium. It happen with Be Our Guest. They have to slow it down to dealwith the fact characters can be 'flying' all over the place and overall the scene falls flat. And even though Robin Williams' singing wasn't perfect what he lacked in technique he made up with in enthusiasm. Will Smith is lacking both. And at one stage it even sounds like he misprounces where Prince Ali is from. I also noticed that I have to brush up for my Friday salaams instead of the Sunday ones? Anyone know the reason for this change, do Sunday salaams not exist?? I expected more crowds in the short, more choreography and the song is definitely missing the ad libs of Robin that's for sure. I had decent hopes for this movie but the more they release the more I realise this is gonna disappoint almost as much as the Beauty remake.
  11. He is Ben Camille. He hosted Junior Eurovision when Malta held it and he is the host of X Factor Malta.
  12. Didn't D&D get the gig to adapt GoT for television as they were the only ones who met GRRM and 'guessed' the person who ended up on the Throne at the end. GRRM ttook this as a sign that they understood the story etc. Or am I making this up?
  13. Look I will be upfront I checked out on Riverdale halfway through Season 2. It just got too ridiculous and strayed too far from the first season. I tried with Season 3 but just couldn't. But my friends still watch and they told me the horrible horrible cliffhanger that Jason Blossom was the gargoyle king. I came here to see if the writers were that loony to go that path. I am so so glad they didn't decided too bring Jason back as alive. I can't have my beloved Jason speaking, I can't be hungover for work tomorrow thanks to my pretend drinking game. Haha
  14. Which all means Henry VIII tried to marry his son to his nephew's daughter.
  15. I was kinda hoping for more than 2 episodes of the Arthur/Catherine love story. I was really looking forward to 'learning' more about this often overlooked part of the Tudor Period. But silly me forgot that The Tudors are all about hunky Henry. While I know (well hope) we will get to see more about Henry's life reign before Anne Boleyn I really feel they've rushed the Arthur part of Catherine's life. I haven't actually read The Constant Princess but I understand historically that Arthur had that haircut, but for crying out loud Henry sshoudl also have that haircut since it was the in do back then. But I guess the productions idea was we have to have the viewers want Catherine to be smitten with the selfish hunky woe is me brother, make the oldest brother as geeky Big Bang Theory as possible. Character wise I much prefer limp as a wet sock Arthur over spoilt brat Henry. You could see the gleam in his eye when he found out his brother died. Margaret Beaufort continues to be Cersei of this series, I hope I get to see her die. And hopefully they go for something more dramatic than her dying in her sleep, screw history. Really felt for Margaret the Younger's fate. Hopefully we will get to follow her story a bit more, although I did notice that this series doesn't draw upon The 3 Sisters, 3 Queens book so I guess we will just see her leave for Scotland and that will be that.
  16. A student today asked me a question about the movie that I thought I knew the answer to but then when we discussed it more I realised that my response was based on an assumption that could be incorrect. The kid asked me where did Dr Strange get the his stone from for the final battle. I initially said Dr Strange wouldn't have had his stone. But the kid is convinced Dr Strange did. If the kid is correct, then I have no answer to how the de-dusted Dr Strange has the stone. Does anyone here know who is correct - Me (no stone in his necklace thing) or the kid (stone in the necklace thing). The kid seems convinced that Dr Strange needs the stone to do all his magic mumbo jumbo, I said he didn't as all the other sorcerers were also doing the mumbo jumbo and they have no stones.
  17. I started watching this after the latest episode of Game of Thrones. Sadly you could tell this series doesn't have as much money as the budget for Thrones. And I admit I was feeling tired so I stoped watching about 18 minutes in. Not a fan of how it seems they've gone out of the way to make Arthur look super nerdy and unappealing so Henry can be the hot hunk and the audience won't feel bad when Arthur kicks the bucket and Catherine moves on to his brother. That's the first misstep I feel the series has made. I'll be back once I've finished viewing the whole episode.
  18. If Cersei doesn't get her just desserts I'm gonna riot. This episode proved to me that the final episodes are gonna be a slog. I was here for the White Waler drama not the politics. But that's all they have for the final episodes - political talk. The only thing that is keeping me tuning is the hope for a Cersei death and I guess to finally know who is the final person sitting on the throne. (Although I'm guessing there will be no true throne and Westeros will be like the British Commonwealth) Shouldn't Lyanna and EDD be dust? I know it's better dramatically, but it's a simple rule. Episode 3 ended with bodies just collapsing everywhere when the Night King died. So them being present is at least consistent with what was shown the previous episode.
  19. I hate when shows I enjoy make good characters bad. I hated it on Buffy and I'm not liking it on Legends. Hopefully it only lasts for 3 weeks
  20. I assume the Night King can ride his dragon cause he controls that dragon since he bought it back to life.
  21. I think my favourite part of the premiere was the brand spanking new opening credits. Loved it and all its details. I feel there is information in what we saw. The rest of the episode was just standard television drama. Nothing truly spectacular happened plot wise. Just mainly characters learning what the audience already knew. Which is nice, cause there is nothing worse than characters keeping secrets for the sake of drama. I couldn't help but feel during the Dragon Flight that I was watching a live action remake of How To Train Your Dragon. I started this season only wanting Cersei to die, for the ending to be satisfying. But I'm beginning to think I also need Dany to be knocked off her pompous pedestal for it to be satisfying. Sometimes I like her and sometimes I think she is an entitled brat. Which I guess gives her more depth that Cersei in my book. I admit I'm here for the White Walkers plot. Always have been. I don't give two hoots about the politics of the plot. And it is strange that I want more White Walkers cause they bring the horror aspect to this show and I hate horror. The show makes the scary past worse by not lighting things very very well. I felt like I was watching a blank screen at Last Heath for a while, which ramped up the Oh My God, when will it jump out feeling. And even though I knew Umber was going to reawake I thought it was done extremely well. Probably the highlight of the episode for me. And I hope the White Walkers end up being more than just battle scenes. Should I be shocked that Bronn seems happy to kill Jaime?
  22. Firstly without John Williams and his music, I think most of the trailers to this universe wouldn't give me goosebumps. Secondly, I may have rolled my eyes hearing Palpatine's laugh. I don't know why but I did. Maybe cause I felt they have bought him back cause Snope was killed off prematurely? Hoping though he isn't playing the same role he did in Jedi though Thirdly, loved how it appears the ThreePio is involved more in this story than the previous two, which means he will probaby be chopped up into a thousand little pieces by the end. Just a shame there was to shot of Artoo.
  23. It looks gorgeous but I still have that nasty taste of why bother? I'm in the minority I know but I just cannot muster up excitement for this remake. Maybe if it was real animals with animatronics like Babe I could see a reason but it's not so I'm like ho hum. They also should have just got Jeremy Irons back since the actor (whose name escapes me and I'm too lazy too look up) appears to be doing an imitation of Jeremy. I also think its time James Earl Jones stepped away from voicing his iconic characters, his voice has aged too much for my ears to get all nostalgic.
