My uneducated guess is that JB had them set up all these faux companies so he can transfer money and property around without it triggering the gift limitations of $15k per person per year or requiring reporting it as wages to employees or fees paid to independent contractors, both of which require reporting to the IRS. ETA: Having read this thread more thoroughly, however, it would seem that thanks to the new regime, those pesky little tax requirements are only for the poor and unlawyered to obey.
