All right! Let's get this sh*tshow on the road!

Sometimes I contemplate going to the website to vote but then I remember I don't actually care that much. Looks like Jackie is in the lead for the Dunkin' Save...

Apparently everyone is googling Celestia because the page won't load.

No, Simon, you are not a snack.

Marcin looks like he's wearing a bathrobe.

Dunkin' Judges Save: Did Gabrielle forget which one is Lukas and which one is Falco? And three of the judges angsted their way to Marcin. And Julianne didn't get to talk; I'll call that a win.

*I am a new poster here, so If I wasn't supposed to put this giant novel in this particular thread, please let me know so I can put it under E:16 Quarterfinals 3 post. (Although I already posted a lengthy one earlier) I figured I'd wait until after the results to post opinions on those that went through. 😁*

I agree with all that went through tonight, except for Detroit Youth Choir.

(I would've placed Mackenzie instead... but although I love love LOVE Bowie, his rendition didn't do it for me and I found him out of tune the first half. I still believed he should've gone through purely on vocal talent alone).

Which brings me to Two choirs?  Is that necessary? I don't find either one of them "incredible". I feel both belong in already existing State and National choir competitions around the US instead. Obviously, I'm in the minority...but I think of this show as who's the best of each category... then the winner should be whomever will obviously do well in a 1.5-2hour show in Vegas that I'd pay to see. 😛

Though I like Dom, his "trick" was so one note and obvious that no matter what... it would lead to Tape Face. Let's not pretend he (Tape Face) didn't just go under the projector and stood behind the giant banner until the reveal either. I do, however, like Dom. He seems like a genuinely good person. I find his tricks to be more geared towards kids... which is fine. He'll do well anyways... since it seems Simon is pushing Dom over Eric.

Eric, his delivery definitely needs work. He seems even more nervous during the live shows... but I do find his tricks on par with Shim Lim, even though they do different types of tricks. If he could amp up his stage presence while doing his amazing tricks, he will do well. Hell, even if he doesn't win (I doubt he will since his act is too similar to Shin Lim)... he'll be making monies doing shows afterwards.

Emanne, the chosen little girl phenom for this season. I can see her winning, or being runner up. I believe in a few years after her voice matures more and she can still sing... she'll make hella monies traveling with a full orchestra doing concerts. She'll be fine even if she doesn't win... and she's still a child.

Benecio, nuff said. He's the second best vocalist IMO behind Chris Klafford. I can't remember if he plays an instrument or not, but if he could... it'd be nice to see him sit with an acoustic guitar and sing. If not, hopefully he learns in the future because I don't see him as a dancer/singer. I think playing an instrument while singing will put him on the next level. The kid has massive vocal talent.

Marcin, Was shocked he was even in the Dunkin Save talk. What he does is absolutely amazing. (I know this is self serving, but as someone who can play various instruments... what Marcin can do with an acoustic guitar is beyond the level anyone his age should be able to do. I couldn't play like that... and I've played guitar for almost 20 years).

Jackie Fabulous, I think she's naturally funny. She reminds me of my girlfriends who just tell me stories as if we're having a conversation. I bet her shows are more raunchy... but for AGT and because of kiddos watching, she's watered down her jokes. (Well, honestly all of the comedians have to obviously). I bet she's more funny at her regular shows.

I think that covers it. There's really only a few standouts this season... hopefully it'll be less of a snooze fest next week. ❤️

Bummed to lose Berywam, but everybody else I liked made it through.

I liked them initially. I found the songs they chose were too "big" for them. Meaning, the vocalists were barely audible to me and one of them was super flat half the time and super sharp the other half... but it was also so softly sung the off pitch-ness was glaringly obvious.

When I first saw them, I thought they'd be like Naturally 7 (Please youtube them when you have time). Naturally 7 is amazing, and I believe would absolutely win AGT if they ever auditioned.

They had two choirs last season too.

Welcome to the board.

Things that annoy a lot of us here:

1. Simon giving acts multiple chances

2. The judges never being able to make up their mind on if they like original songs or not

3. Why for some acts do they criticize this is not a vegas show and others they forget that part of the criteria?

Thank you! 😜

I only watched the Champions after skipping Seasons 2- Whatever season Terry Fator was on, then skipping to Darci Lynn's season then skipped til Champions and gave it a chance again this season. (I skipped a bunch of seasons due to the show being another Idol show instead of a true variety show)

I do agree with your 3 points!

Ameriker really blew it with Marcin.  Worse than 4th?  Really?  Then you put in JF over him?!

On the flip side, great job by Ameriker putting through the pigeon-holed genre AGT designs to eliminate at least one act (magic this time).

Terry couldn't even get the jidge order correct at the end?  Pay Nick whatever he wants.  Please.

I know it's filler, but the opening segment with the behind-the-scenes peek was excellent.  The Wizard really did pull back the curtain.  The skill of the editors and producers in presenting that look-see is tops in the industry, imo.

These results are a test to sit through and I passed (out). The first 15 minutes was reliving last night, which nobody should be nostalgic for, unless they are just showing brief clips as a courtesy for those who couldn't stay awake. There was also clips of the acts rehearsing, to which the idea of Gonzo having multiple takes at his garbage routine with his serious game face on is laughable. The judges eat marmite which is apparently "made from yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing", which lends credence to the idea of the show being intolerable to sit through without inebriation of some form. The 3 Western judges recoil at the taste, as the dish did not contain the half pound of sugar to which they are accustomed.

Jackie Fabulous, Lukas & Falco and Marcin Patrzalek are in danger of going home, though Jackie should count as two spots for obvious reasons. It's pretty obvious she's not going home, because there are enough braindead viewers who find her entertaining.

The Dunkin Lounge always consists of everyone acting overly lively while dancing to weird stock music and holding their 100% intact drinks - what kind of a party is this? I was wondering if anyone was tempted to feed Falco a bunch of doughnuts in the hopes of less competition.

Detroit Youth Choir vs Gonzo - Gonzo is dressed as if he is from a Street Fighter arcade game, though I'm sure he would lose if all 30+ members starting stomping his head in anger. The leader of the all black choir is named Mr. White (heh); he starts cheering "Detroit, Detroit, Detroit!" either because he's so dissociated from how boring the show is that he thinks he's at an NFL game or he has no idea how economics work and thinks Detroit is the model for what an American city should look like. I'm sure if that model were adapted nationwide, the next season of America's Got Turnips would have a 70 pound Terry Crews hosting while donned in a designer potato sack with the grand prize being the lone vegetable picked from the barren crops, singers would have to add melody to their hunger pangs, you get the idea.

Up next is an acrobatics group that is performing in Vegas called Celestial, as in referring to the sky and space, which opened the door for a whole slew of unfounded conspiracies that I was screaming at the TV. They said there were some AGT favorites in this cast, yet didn't mention any of them, perhaps just to avoid the inevitable collective "who?". I thought the performance was really entertaining for once - I might just head down to Vegas and check them out, assuming they honor a free ticket and hotel promotion that I made up in my head while watching.

After that was tweets that were supposedly mean but weren't or something like that. The kinds of people who tweet that crap seem like the definition of cog in the wheel drones and are worth ignoring unless they were calling me handsome for no reason. Simon doesn't know what ramen noodles are and I guess he can find out when he escorts Gonzo back to Japan to assure he is never on American TV again.

Berywam and Emmane Beasha - It's hard to believe there could be a clear favorite between two acts who don't make a single noise you can understand, though I let out quite the foreign grunt of pain when I saw the show was barely half over at this point. The girl went through - since society is so progressive now, I am not talking about Berywam.

Matthew Richardson, Dom Chambers and Eric Chien - I was hoping that Dom and Eric could use their combined magic skills to make Matthew disappear for good and they made good on that. Simon telling Eric to go bigger is quite insulting, as the majority of Asians are 5'5 and have a complex about it (I am 5'6 and like anime, so we are one and the same).

Benicio Bryant and Mackenzie have no business competing against one another due to the size difference; poor Benicio is gonna get knocked out if Mackenzie takes his elimination the wrong way. Actually he didn't take it very badly, because he looked completely spaced out - he probably had a sip of tap water (I'll get into that when I don't feel as though I am being watched 😱). Gabrielle said everyone views Benicio as their son, which pissed me off, as it reminded me once again that I failed at my dream of being a father at age 12.

It is no surprise that Jackie Flabulous (not a typo) wins the vote associated with doughnuts, though I don't think them being classified as protein in the revised food pyramid is very far off. The judges acting as if Marcin wasn't going to go through was just stringing everyone along, which made me hit my hammer-on my head. I am very stupid tonight. You already know who went through, as I am not that every-man radio show host feeding you headlines that your Dad will go "Is that right?", "Unbelievable!" after every sentence while driving to work.

Next week there will be a guest judge; hopefully one from the California Supreme Court to indict Jackie on charges of her routine causing great bodily harm. I am off, as I promised to wire even more money to my World of Warcraft girlfriend who has already been exposed as my old high school bully. Goodnight.

Celestia: I'd have no trouble believing this group initially started off as a 50 piece, but the surviving members who haven't died did a great job tonight. Do you wonder if the people getting arrows shot an inch away from their face ever bemoan the fact that they aren't able to sing and had to settle for this as a talent?

Results:
Detroit Youth Choir vs. Gonzo - Unless the audience was following Japanese customs of remaining quiet as a sign of respect, it sounded like not a single person in there voted for him last night. I wonder if any television networks are brainstorming ideas for a "Postcards from Gonzo" show, where he goes around the world to shop his unwanted act among every country's "Got Talent" franchise. Why was the DYC conductor chanting "De-troit, De-troit!" following the result? I thought the entire choir hated the city for being violent and poor. You'd think the last thing they want to do is announce to the whole local ghetto that they're inching closer towards a million dollars.

Berywam vs. Emanne Beasha - My medication label warns not to opera-hate on heavy machinery, so I left the computer and opened my iPad to write this sentence of disappointment that Emanne is through to the next round. Watching precocious opera singers get serenaded in praise just for being young has my irritation reaching crescendo, and knowing that term must be proof that it's gone on far too long.

Matthew Richardson vs. Dom Chambers vs. Eric Chien - I wanted to take a few points off of Eric's performance last night upon realizing that he can't be that great of a magician if he was unable to make himself disappear from his service duties, but everyone has an off night. Chien is French for "dog", so I wonder if Lukas & Falco briefly had their hopes up when his name was called...not that the dog can speak French. Dom Chambers is a clear second to Eric IMO, but it's nice to have both magicians through to the semifinals. Matthew Richardson getting eliminated is further proof that Americans are stringently opposed to exercise, even when just watching other people do it.

Benicio Bryant vs. Mackenzie - The look on Mackenzie's face made it seem like he finally realized just how unfriendly to online search results his stage name is, knowing he was going to get eliminated in favor of a 14 year old and be cast out into the unforgiving world of post-AGT fame that even includes various winners. Not shocking whatsoever, but the right call.

Dunkin Save: Jackie Fabulous, Lukas & Falco, *Marcin Patrzalek -
Jackie's act arguably has legs compared to the other two, so it's fitting that the "calf fiend" voters would give her the Dunkin save, although any double entendre involving her obviously has no sexual meaning. Anyway, even though I think she's not funny at all, comedy is the most mainstream-friendly talent of the three, and the other two guys didn't exactly have stellar nights, so it wasn't surprising that she went through.
How ironic would it be for Falco to get saved by Dunkin Donuts when ingesting their main product would kill him? Talk about a total lack of brand synergy.

___

Pretty predictable night overall, but I think AGT being anything but formulaic at this point would give me a seizure. The right people went through, for the most part, anyway.

Agreed. They can find all the time in the world to show the judges reading tweets and eating toast (anything not about food may be seen as too unrelateable for most Americans) but barely document anything about the contestants beyond corny video packages.

Getting to see what goes on backstage is a lot more exciting and seeing more of it may further endear viewers to some of the other contestants. With so much going on that has to be synchronized for live shows, AGT certainly is a tightly-run ship. Probably only second to the one Gonzo is thankfully sailing home on.

I know she's just a little girl but when Emanne was thanking the audience in that high pitched squeak I think my ears started to bleed.  For someone who can sing well she really has an irritating speaking voice.

I don't think she'll win simply because even though people pretend to appreciate opera singers on this show they really don't.

Even though Lukas and Falco were never going to win, I was still hoping they would go through instead of the Detroit Youth Choir that also is not going to win.  Watching that dog do tricks and have fun is far more enjoyable to me than some very earnest children singing.

I would not go to Vegas to see a choir.....you can do that at your neighborhood church .....for free?

I am floored....and saddened by Marcin's departure.....however don't be too sad because there's no ceiling for his potential.....what a great talent.   And I'm glad they had the good sense to let Gonzo go and obey what people want for once.

I have Sophie.....and now Marcin as potential wildcards.   I think there will be three.

It's interesting to compare her to Jackie Evancho, which I'm sure anyone who watched her season is doing. Even at ten, Jackie's speaking voice sounded much older, more in line with her singing ability. Emanne does sound much more like a ten-year-old. (Not saying that's a bad thing; she is ten, after all.) [I did laugh at the clip of Benicio watching her in the practice space and saying, incredulously, "She's ten?!" We're in the quarter finals, Show, don't try to tell me that the other contestants haven't heard her and don't know how old she is already.]

I liked the backstage segment last night, it was fun and interesting, and made me like Gonzo. I appreciated that the camera person was fascinated with Gonzo's rear end, which kept getting its own close up. Terry looked quite nice in those jeans and shirt. I did a laugh when Opera Girl squeaked during her rehearsal.

Because of the fun intro, I was bummed that Gonzo went home instead of the choir. Now I wish I had given him 10 votes the night before. As for the choir, as another poster said, I can hear the same thing at any number of local churches. And not even their choirs, the congregation.

I would have been okay with all three of the Dunkin Saves going through, but since I was online, I voted for Jackie. I thought Falco was tired the night before and I didn't care for Guitar Guy Monday, although I liked him the second time he appeared. I noticed the results weren't being shown on my tv as people were voting, like last week, which made me realize my vote wouldn't count. So yeah, this week I voted and it did count. Yeay me.

Bello Nock does that spinning wheel thing and also makes it look like he's going to fall, as did one guy last night. I wondered if Bello was now working in Vegas. No one would recognize him without his High Hair and clown suit. He's actually quite handsome when dressed all regular like. That entire act was great, and made it clear there is work in Vegas for the knife throwers, acrobats, hand balancers and contortionists.

I meant to ask who that judge was Monday night, wearing the red t-shirt. Thank you Julianne for pointing out it was Simon.

I wonder if the other act got more America votes (I've already forgotten who it was, Falco?) so they make a fake judge vote at the end so the act TPTB wants, wins. All the judge angst is so fakety fake since I'm positive they are told who to vote for, their humming and hawing is just time killer until the show is out of time. *signed--Jaded Viewer*

Good news.......AGT will be adding a fifth judge ...(a celebrity).....for the live semifinals for the first time ever.   So ties won't happen .....and they don't have to depend on your votes in case you choose someone or eliminate someone based on viewer biases    Case in point.....keeping Ansley over Sophie.

We are likely identical, despite our Mom saying it's not outright known, though looking at us would make it pretty obvious. I'm not really sure about who is older; we've been told, but we never thought that was very important - he is an inch taller than me, so it's possible I was born 5 minutes premature. We watch America's Got Talent and American Idol (the other show we post about) in the same room and the entire show is spent telling jokes and then we go in separate rooms to try and think of another essay of material that we didn't share with one another (some jokes are thought of while watching and saved for later; a ton get forgotten having to wait over an hour to come back to the computer). I'm usually finished before him, probably because I don't put a whole lot of actual commentary in, since it seems foolish for me to say "I wish that female singer would sit on my head like I was an ottoman at Sears....but on a more serious note, her technical prowess blew me away - the perfect blend of soulful and sultry" or something like that, whereas he tries to provide a real critique, even though we are both sitting there extremely bored for the majority of the show. For the results show, we often type in the same room because those posts don't take as long - we always complain to each other "your post got another laugh emoji than mine, what the hell", so it's a little bit competitive 😎

I always remember being told we're identical, although we haven't done a DNA test to make sure. I'm older by a few minutes and I've used my seniority to force us to watch AGT, making the relationship strained for almost the past decade. As ITG just said, we watch together and then run to our respective rooms with a bunch of bottled up jokes that were kept in throughout the show.

ETA: I'm also inclined to believe you try to smell women on TV.

At least one of them does.

He smells the TV while I try and grope it, meaning we have to watch the damn show twice just to remember which acts were performing.

I had noticed that you always seem to post together, with similar styles, just never mentioned it. Now I have more questions. Identical or fraternal? Who's older and by how many minutes? Do you live/watch together and know when the other is posting so you can do it in succession? Or is it just one of those psychic twin things...? Now I'm gonna just always picture you side by side with matching laptops, typing away.

Wearing identical bathrobes, of course!

Matching bathrobes, but only one bath - perhaps all my flattering remarks about women have been a front this whole time 😭

(my next post will be regarding AGT, as I don't want to steer into off topic discussion so much)

Yes, show of hands, how many people would go to Las Vegas and willingly CHOOSE to go see a choir over all the other acts there?

I have no desire to go to Vegas, I like my money too much ;-) but if I did I would not pay to watch a choir. I wouldn't pay to watch a choir anywhere.

I'm glad the guitar kid went through, I don't think he could make a 2 hour show out of that style of music though. He is crazy talented but like I've said before his fingers would be a bloody mess.

I think Gabby says the same thing to everyone.

I hate that the judges pick an act to go through. And with 2 seconds left on the clock.

Simon must be under contract to have a vote because Terry was going down the line then jumped to Simon because Julianne would've picked the guitar kid so they jumped over her to let Simon speak.

Julianne must've got a new wardrobe/make-up person because she's been looking really pretty these last couple of shows.

It's Simon's show so everyone is under contract to play to him, always. Dare to leave him out and your contract could be terminated Terry!

I did laugh at one part where Terry was to the side of the judges' desk, on Howie's end, and was talking, camera on him. But you could see all four judges in the background, and Simon was raking and scraping his fingers through his hair over and over and over, like he had fleas in there or something. Finally Julianne said something to him and he stopped.

I think a judge camera would be fun, so we could see what they say and do off script. Except they probably wouldn't let us see.

She is naturally attractive. I laughed at the comparison of her hair from a few weeks ago to ramen noodles. I wish I'd thought of that.

I noticed that too. Maybe he lets his dog sleep up by his head, or he got lice from his son lol.
