AGT The Champions: All Episode Discussion

Good for V. Unbeatable getting the win....they are the first dance/stunt team to win any season on AGT.....regular or champions.

Kodi stated that he signed with Simon's label....so an album of Kodi singing all of Simon's favorite covers is coming.....and you could make a pretty good career doing covers ....look at Linda Ronstadt.

I guess the pre-show poll of fans revealing that 47% preferred Marcelito to win wasn't really represented by these "superfans" who placed him fourth?

It was overall not as deep a talent pool as last season....but still I was entertained.   I'm pretty sure it'll be back next winter.   On to summer season 15.   See ya then.

I skipped the entire season, but I'm TIVOing the Finale to watch only Shin Lim!

InternetToughGuy, please also comment on "Married at First Sight" and "90 Day Fiance" if you don't already! 😄 😘

I've never watched either show - are there a lot of things worth commenting on? I could watch one or both if they have a new episode coming up and see if I can think of anything to say; since a lot of the couples on those kinds of shows have at least one fat person, I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult.

If anyone on this forum is 60+, I'd be interested to know how big of a deal KISS was in the 70s, because it seems they have been touted as a nostalgia act for at least 30 years, most of those years having been spent on the millipede (tour with a thousand legs). I can't recall a time in my whole life where they were seen as anything but old. Anyways, it seems like the song lasted 2 minutes and then stopped abruptly. Most of the members looked somewhat young, so either the Satanic rituals they do actually work or none of the original guys are in there. Don't really care either way.

I would say KISS were a real rock band in the 70s. I like their first 6 albums or so, it's good pop-rock. "KISS Alive!" is a classic live album. They started to get a very young audience because of their make-up. When I was in 4th grade, they were the biggest thing ever. They started to get silly, (sillier?) starring in stupid movies and putting out concept albums. By the time the 80s came, they were largely forgotten, and 2 original members were out. They dropped the make-up and started to play the pop metal that was popular at the time.

Some time in the 90s they decided to get the original members back and tour in full make-up and costume. This gave them an additional boost in popularity, and they've been riding this nostalgia wave since. They replaced the same 2 members with new guys in make-up, which is why they look youngish. At this point, I can't see them as more than a nostalgia act.

I watched the first few seasons of Married at First Sight. Stopped watching shortly into season 4 because I got bored. Now when I see it mentioned I think,"That's still on?"

But I might reconsider it if it meant getting your insights the next day. 😛

I'm a child of the 80s but my only real exposure to KISS, other than the few songs I'd occasionally hear on the radio, was watching Detroit Rock City.

Shin Lim and Colin Cloud were beyond spectacular.

I mean, come ON! Howie had practically an infinite number of song titles to choose from!

I wonder what might have happened had he picked "Mairsy Doats"!

Of course, the power of suggestion for Howie by the choosing of new mother Alesha was strong. But that still leaves the cards....

It would have gotten stuck in my head forever. (I don't actually know the "Beeber" song well enough for that.)

90 Day Fiancee  is starting a new season Sunday night.   It is snarktastic glory.

I started to watch this, then remembered that the two-hour finale is always a bunch of fluff and hokum with emphasis on the judges and how "fun and clever" they are, I started flipping channels.

KISS must have a contract with these shows since they appear often, more often than when they were a touring band. If not all the band members, Gene Simmons is there. Channel turned.

I caught some of the fluff between channel flips, but nowhere did I see Alexa and her dogs. None of the posts here mention her either. I know the show wanted to get rid of her (first act to perform, mic on so we heard her yelling) but that was really rude to not even let her dogs be on the last show. First to perform, first out.

I LOL'd when Hans was called to compete against V. Unbeatable. As if.

If they are V. Unbeatable, why is VIKAS on everyone's backs? Their routine with the drummer, and the kid flying up and grabbing that drumstick, was whack.

Best act won since I didn't like any of the others, beside the dogs and Hans. Not that anyone asked me, even though I am a Superfan representing my state.

Biggest surprise was Shin Lim's hair. What happened there!

I'm sure she was there somewhere in the opener but I don't think the dogs were. (Though it's quite possible I just wasn't paying enough attention to my screen to notice. But there was a lot going on during every performance which is probably not conducive to having a bunch of dogs running around trying to follow commands.)

"The V in the name stands for Vikas, after a former crew member, Vikas Gupta, who died performing stunts during a performance." (Wikipedia)

I need to watch again because I missed the drumstick grab.

Also didn't notice Shin Lim's hair. Will have to look on their facebook page when I get home.

That crazy was one thing I was looking forward to! I would have had the dogs circling the judges' desk and jumping on and off of it. Maybe grabbing a drumstick from some orchestra guy! Doing backflips with V. Unbeatable!

This show needs to hire me.

Thanks @ams1001. I remember the story of the crew member being killed but didn't remember his name was Vikas. I thought maybe VIKAS was Indian for V. Unbeatable and would have been a cool name for the group.

The camera almost missed the V. Unbeatable drumstick grab too. If you blinked, you missed it. (Blink 182, ha ha, I'm funny.)

I've had a crush on Shin Lim's hair since its first appearance on this franchise, and it looked great when he did that switch with Magician X. But last night it was even too -- I don't have a word for it -- for me.

Went and watched on the AGT facebook page. Had to make it full screen so I could see what was happening. Pretty cool.

He was definitely having a bad hair day, lol.

I wasn't going to watch the whole show but ended up watching it.

I fast-forwarded KISS, was never a fan. My ex was so I've been to one of their concerts around 10-15 years ago and I swear it was "their last tour ever" and I believe the one after that was too ;-)

That sand lady is awesome she should stand behind Cody and do her thing when he preforms.

The doggie act should've made the top 5 and should've been in the final show.

I'm happy V. Unbeatable won, they were very entertaining to watch. I did see the drumstick grab, that was cool.

This is the 2nd AGT Champion show and both acts that won were America AGT acts. Why do they even invite the other Countries, they're never going to win.

Did anyone notice when Tyler got eliminated Terry went right to Alisha(sp) for her thoughts?

Fox reminded me about Kodi. Did anyone else think his singing has changed? I didn't even recognize his voice. The show said he's been performing somewhere so I imagine he's got a coach now. He sounded much more "conventional," if that makes sense.

Hans could be a spokesperson for a TV show or live show.  Kind of like the women who competed as "spokesmodels" on 'Star Search'.

I have to admit I was a little concerned with V.Unbeatable going up against Hans.  I wasn't sure if the "Superfans" would go for real talent over just liking Hans.  Hans was a little bit of a wild card in the final.  He wasn't talented, but people seemed to like him anyway.  He would not have made it this far if a great number of voters didn't like him.

I was surprised that the girl singer didn't make it into the top five.

Tyler made it this far on his sad back story.  He really wasn't that impressive of a player.  Kind of average.  I skipped over his performance last week.  I'm glad I did.  I saw the recap.  Really? Another way to perform "Hallelujah"?  Is it under contract to perform that song every season? Even the song writer once stated that maybe they should give that song a rest.

I was relieved to see V.Unbeatable win.  They should have won in the season they were on.

I liked Silhouettes in the past.  I was pretty sure last week's performance would weaken them.  It was so weird when they showed the recap.  It was two butts under someone's crotch.

Otherwise pretty lack-luster season.  The best team won this year.  So that's something.

The right act won. So there's that, I least.

Screw it, I love Hans. I thought he was very natural in presenter mode. I do think he's funny, and hope there's some kind of career path for him there.

So awesome to see Keseniya again. She's mesmerizing to watch.

I thought the point of voting JJ off was so that we'd never have to see him again. Ugh.

When we were enduring another dose of the Aussie pipsqueak that is JJ, did anyone feel icked out or uncomfortable when Heidi was telling, and then explaining, the constipation joke?  I am so relieved to know that Heidi

Why?  Because there is no real prize--just a trophy and $25,000.  That's barely a pittance in tv money.  The real prize--and I'm sure the reason that so many contestants are willing to compete--is performing their act in front of millions of viewers (and booking agents for Vegas and other venues) for several weeks.  Such exposure is extraordinarily valuable.

Listen to the backstories of many of these acts.  Even the "losers" are not really losers.  All of the good acts have been busy performing all over the place.  Many even have their own show in Vegas.  After all, on any given night, Vegas has hundreds of performers in the casinos and clubs.  And every time that some fourth-place finisher signs a contract to perform in Des Moines or Omaha or Tallahassee, their fee gets bumped up as the promoter can bill them as "AGT finalist!"

The prize is

I was a teen during that time and while they were popular....(I hated them)....from 1975 to the end of the decade they usually had a song on the chart...but serious rockheads of the time wouldn't hold them in the same acclaim as a Zeppelin for example.....they were more a product of the glam culture of Gary Glitter, Bowie, T-Rex, Elton John etc.   There were dolls (action figures)....toys, comic books, lunchboxes, blacklight posters for your groovy 70s room.....so yeah they were a deal

Of course by the late 80s they made that attempt to blend in with the growing hairband buttrock culture.  "Let's put the X in sex" was their MTV hit back when they actually still played music videos.

The fine print in the credits rolling at the end of the show states that the winner gets $25,000 in addition to the announced prize.  Whoopee!

The big question:  do they get that as a lump sum, or is it spread over 25 years?

I like "all stars" shows, but we could definitely take a break for some more stars to develop.
