I read some comments on a tweet of Kristina’s. There are still people commenting that Amber should have 50/50 custody. Stuff like this plays a part in Amber’s delusion.

Daaaaaaaaaamn! That’s pretty darn shitty for a reunion special. Aren’t reunions pretty ratings heavy, usually??? 

Anyone want to start a pool about whether there’s another season??? 

I read an article where it stated young and pregnant was going to be cancelled due to having 500k average ratings but they rescinded the cancellation claiming “not fair because they were following teen mom OG that has low ratings and when they followed Tm2 the ratings went back up!” 

TM OG sucks! 👎

I agree that the money is the key difference in their lives, but I actually think the money has been detrimental for many/most of the cast. Without the show/money, Cate might have found some type of decent life eventually. She might have found a "Captain Save a Ho" type (after breaking up with Ty) who could be a good, supportive partner to her as she figured out some way to deal with her emotional issues and built a good relationship with Carly and her parents (facilitated by them not watching every fucked up twist and turn of her life on TV/SM). Amber would have maybe had some motivation to get herself together without the money from the show (remember how she was kind of cool when Drew interviewed her in gel?). She certainly would have had less money for drugs and people like oldMatt who weren't good for her. I think it's kind of a toss up whether she'd be dead/in prison or marginally functional if MTV had never come into her life.

On the other hand, I think Maci is ultimately better off with the MTV money. She'd have been a struggling single mom without it, have had to live with her parents longer, and probably would have settled for the first guy who came along who was able to support her and Bentley and could be manipulated into marrying her (so maybe someone less "cool" than Taylor, but probably someone who made more money than Taylor). I think the MTV money was also really helpful to Farrah, enabling her to get out of her toxic family home sooner and have a good springboard to financial independence/success. Next to Farrah, Gary has probably made the most of the MTV money. Without it, he'd be ok working as an LPN or whatever marginally better job he might have worked up to by now, but his mini real estate empire and the attendant significant jump in his economic status is totally due to MTV.

Eh. I think without mtv money, Maci at least would have done other things, she would have finished college and not made money off of speaking engagements and being an MTV star. I think she would have maybe developed a better work ethic that what I have seen on the show.

I don’t usually comment on TM, but here’s a few thoughts. One, re: ratings—I didn’t even realize the season was over, so I wasn’t expecting a reunion show.  A lot of other shows took a break over the holidays. But if TM is doing that badly, why not burn off the reunion? 

They might as well end the show anyway as often as these girls threaten to leave  

Did everyone hear the extra applause for Amber during the open? What on earth?

Also, I had to laugh when Dr. Drew called Bristol out for being so fake. Not his words, but the sentiment. 

Regarding the comments about whether the wealth and fame have helped the girls (quoting isn’t working for me at the moment)— the love and support of Amber’s fans is what keeps her going! (Going from the bed to the couch, but still!)

I went to the teen mom reunion taping last year and they film the first segment that we see last , so I’m guessing after her whole woe is me routine , people were cheering for her before she came out again . 

Bristol is very put together and reserved and it doesn’t make for great reality tv , but I can appreciate that at least one of them cares about how they come off . After all these years and all the complaints from them about how they were coming off to viewers , none of the other moms ever fixed their behavior or tried to do something differently to make themselves look better . It amazes me how each one of them lacks in self- awareness .

Exactly and Amber will actually be 29 fucking years old in a few short months. She’s not even a “young adult” anymore in any sense of the term. She’s never going to change at this point.

I hate Nessa and Drew on here so much. They want Drew for his “credentials” and to add legitimacy but then he doesn’t even watch the show and softballs them more than any host in history has. It makes no sense. There’s no point in having an “expert” that can’t and won’t use his expertise. He’s a fucking addiction specialist and half the cast has addictions they just brush under the rug or mostly ignore.

No wonder Cate and Tyler are so messed up. They aren’t the smartest cookies in the jar anyway, and with all of these people feeding them this crap, no wonder they had all of this weird delusions.

I was going to go back to watch some earlier episodes, but they’re all gone from the MTV website. I did see some free iTunes videos from the fourth season (I think), largely billed as the farewell season.

It's not a huge audience.  My guess is that they are interns and teens belonging to network employees who know when to cheer and the questions to ask the pampered ones!

No way are they a random off the street first come first serve audience!
