Is it a surprise that EBR would be getting backlash for something stupid? KC gets backlash for the dumbest of things as well. Welcome to the Flarrowverse.

She didn't say anything that we haven't seen on the show, she didn't make stuff up that didn't exist, so I fail to see what she said that was "stupid".

I understand what hyperbole is thanks.

3 isn't a lot considering it'll only be 3. Plus it's not at all comparable to Oliver as one mentioned earlier (he has double that actually)

I'll take issue with something EBR says when she says something to take issue with.

That's what some have done. It's not like they're aggressively looking for a reason to criticize EBR.

To be clear, this article is talking about the fictional tv characters (not the actors)...

13. Oliver & Felicity - Arrow

Why? Because even though they have a shit ton of baggage and it took four seasons for them to get it together, they're actually perfect for each other.

A "year and a half," or 16.5 months?  Precision must be adhered to at all times.

I've been on this board for almost exactly 18 months to the day, SO SEVENTEEN IS ACCURATE FOR 3 MORE DAYS. But also, "seventeen" is my father's number for everything, so I use it too. Woo.

Also, let's be real, I'm trying to derail this convo because it's going nowhere for like, seventeen pages now.

Way too easy to step into fandom talk with that.

I wasn't taking about anyone but myself. It actually wasn't addressed to any comment you made. KC was brought into and that was what I was really referring too.

I'm going to leave it alone now.

Oliver was known to be a man-whore in this fandom so it's not like he wasn't criticized for it. In fact he was criticized a lot for it on this board. I don't think Barry is criticized for that or rarely anything at all.

With the way they are writing this season, Barry only has 1 love interest, Patty.

Linda's an ex and they showed no indication that she wanted to get back with him, Caitlin is pining after Jay and Iris might as well only exist to call other people in to have screen time with Barry.

Caitlin and Jay together crack me up, because they're totally more [boring] together than the sum of their parts.  Two of the most boring, cardboard characters evah, TOGETHER AT LAST.

I think it's funny people are so offended over EBR's answer. No one cared when Candice said she preferred Ray/Felicity over Olicity. EBR did seem flustered but that line also seemed like it was fed to her by shows PR, since it kinda goes against what she's said in the past about Barry/Iris. That said, who cares? She's not on Flash, why even ask her? Just like who cares when KC talks L/O, she doesn't write the show, she's not gonna make it happen... just like EBR. I find the people tweeting EBR nastiness over this is stupid as hell, & should be concentrating on tweeting the writers to actually remember Iris is part of the show. IMO, EBR's answer was in line w/The Flash's writing. Patty & Caitlin get more presence and writing than Iris. Iris is just there, which is sad because she's the only female that doesn't bore me to death on that show.

Yay! Finally someone is joining me on my little Barry and Linda ship!  I thought that was going to be even lonelier than my I LOVE ALL THE MOTORCYCLE STUNTS AND THE MOTORCYCLE JOUSTING LAST SEASON WAS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS EVER rock, which often seems like more of a pebble or a just a grain of sand. At least on this board.

I gratuitously love Barry, and handwave all of his faults like a dumb mother does with a shitty son.

Also, I don't really ship ~for realsies~ on Flash because they're all 12 years old [except Cisco, who's 9], and shipping kids is icky. But Linda/Barry spoke to me in this last episode she had to pretend to be evil? I thought they were SO MUCH FUN TO WATCH together. More of this, show, please.

But also also, I like Barry/Patty for their adorable puppy-ness.

Also also also, I'm not at all invested in Flash anywhere near enough to care about any of this.

When/where?

EBR would get flak for her answer no matter what for sure. But I'm not sure why her unintentional slight to Iris/CP is ignored. Again she said (at worst) vaguely positive things about Caitlin and Patty. But not Iris.

You know, I feel like I put up with a lot of shit from Oliver before I was finally done with him towards the end of S3 (although I am starting to like him again), but Barry knowingly endangering THE SOLAR SYSTEM to maybe save his mom was pretty much it for me.  I mean seriously, think about it: THE SOLAR SYSTEM.

I hear you on not shipping or being invested.  There's not a single romantic relationship on The Flash about which I give a flying fart, and I don't care about any of the characters except Cisco and cranky-ass nuWells.

That's... not how I relate to fictional characters. They can be shitty and I can still love them if the story is interesting/entertaining. Oliver being a dumbass in S3 bored me, tired me, frustrated me, made me cranky, even made me stop watching the show for a couple of episodes. Barry trying to destroy the universe entertained the fuck out of me.

Apparently she's being called a racist on twitter and Iris fans are criticizing her... It's not ignored.

I saw the video on twitter last year, google is your friend.

I didn't take anything she said as a slight on Iris. She said she and Caitlin were phone friends, which is her mirroring Andrew on this. She said she didn't know Iris well, & that she's sure she'd like Patty. I don't see the slight. What I see is the Flash show trying really hard to sell this boring Patty/Barry relationship (even tho Barry is the worst & lacks chemistry w/all women IMO), by having a fan-fav talk it up. Look at what EBR said last yr, where she was very positive about Iris and WA, she was doing the same thing she is now, talking up what she's told.

To be fair, he wasn't actually trying to destroy the universe.  It was just a chance he was perfectly fine taking.

I'm just going to sit here amused that her opinion matters so much to The Flash universe.

Iris's current complete lack of relevance to Barry's life is so not EBR's fault.  It is bizarre to me that people are upset with her rather than Kreisberg, et al.  Candice Patton is fantastic, but Iris has nothing to do with anything right now.  She and Barry barely interact, and the writers left her out of the crossover/most of the plots of The Flash so far this season.  People seem to be directing their anger at the wrong target.

You know maybe we're missing something about this whole Ray-Felicity thing. Candice Patton also preferred Ray?

Fascinating.

I was going to post a Mugatu-crazy-pills.gif but I couldn't find an animated one.

Ray acted like a stalker. He went to her place of work, pretending not to know who she was, tricked her into helping him take Oliver's company away from him. Then he bought her place of work to force her to work for him. Then he treated her like a mistress before they were even going out, with that dress and that necklace.

Wait a second, she had to give those back, right? Let me correct myself, he treated her like an escort. Yeah, I said it. Come at me bro.

Finally, to add insult to injury, he used her face-recognition program on Oliver and tried to kill him. And electrocuted Roy.

What a prince!

I meant in this conversation. That's the problem I have. And it irks the Iris fandom after all the disrespect and "slights" she's gotten since February 2014.

It's a slight because she didn't say anything positive about Iris unlike the other two. Also that she seemingly forgot what happened last year.

I'm not saying EBR is conscious of it (and I'm not saying she had any ill intent either...she's not DP)

That's unpopular? I just watched the whole first season and Linda was the only person I shipped Barry with. I thought they had good chemistry and liked good together. I'll join your tiny ship.

Then why does it matter? Then why should anyone on this board care? If it was intentional, sure I guess it'll make sense to be upset that it was ignored. But it wasn't intentional which is why I doubt people care.

I think getting upset about it also requires people to care about WestAllen, which most people on this board don't seem to.

I like Iris just fine, and don't care at all about her relationship with Barry, so what's there to be upset about? IDK.

How about them Dodgers?

I hate the Dodgers!

Also, these last 2 pages are why I want to keep Arrow separated from the wankiness of Flash. It's bad enough that the network treats one show like it's the golden child while ignoring the show that did the hard work of re-establishing the superhero genre on TV. Don't answer any more questions about what's going on on Flash, Arrow cast! Please!

As a very casual viewer of the Flash, I'm totally perplexed why EBR was ever asked about Barry's relationships with anyone not named Felicity or Oliver. She's not a regular or even semi-regular on the Flash, so I'm not sure why viewers of either the Flash or Arrow would care what EBR/Felicity thinks about potential Barry ships.  /scratches head....looks confused.

If only EBR would have brought out some snark and answered 'The only ship Felicity is thinking about is her with Oliver on ARROW. A-R-R-O-W...ARRROW.  Felicity's best friends are on ARROW. Ask me about ARROW.  Actually, I think Felicity does wonder about Barry and Oliver..."

I'm probably just a bitter Arrow-girl that is tired of the Flash and Ray pimping at the expense of Oliver and ARROW.

Well, I'm not surprised about it, actually. I'm sure that, had Candice Patton said something that could be misconstrued as a slight against Felicity, half the fandom would be sending her hate. It's just the way it is (not that I think it's an acceptable or even justifiable behaviour).

What I find peculiar is the need to have us ADMIT that EBR made whatever faux pas she is believed to have made. After for the last two pages,  half the regular posters have stated that they don't think she did.

I don't watch the Flash but I am surprised that people think he has no chemistry with any of his potential LI. He had cute chemistry with Felicity, but maybe that was due to EBR?

He has some chemistry with Iris but it's not at the right level yet. I'd give it time and a couple of seasons. Same with Felicity. It was cute but it wasn't stick-his-tongue-down-her-throat, rip-her-clothes-off kind of chemistry. I mean, I can't even picture Barry having the kind of love scene O/F had. With anyone.

But I don't even care because I'm not invested in The Flash at all.

The mere thought of that totally grosses me out.  I was really uncomfortable during his love scene with Linda.  I guess I agree with dtissagirl...they're all 12, and watching 12-year-olds make out, or, god forbid, more than make out, is super super gross.
