Oh, it could very well be her opinion. But it's also what I believe the show is trying to sell, so she's right on target.

I'm not so sure it's what the show is selling. Phyllis has gone to counselling over an affair. Sharon can barely get counselling for her mental illness but Phyllis gets it. It seems to me they will have her want the marriage and after taking Jack's shit for a while and going to counselling, jack will forgive her.

The writing being skewed towards Billy is just how Pratt's writes pets. It sometimes doesn't line up with end game for story. This has been billy's story from the beginning and will remain  only his story until the bitter end. Pratt tells stories from the POV from the leads only. Everything must go through and be about them.

See, to me, I think this is all about making Phyllis look better and giving her "reasons." I think it's more about poor Philly, crazy Jack, and then Jack coming to a conclusion that Philly is real love. I want to be wrong about this, but I can't ignore all the signs that this show is clearly obsessed with all things GT/JT.

Phyllis definitely looks better. But how do you propose they can flip the philly hatred?

  • Love 1

Yeah there is (and will be) a lot of #TeamJack out there. Do you really think Jack will go crazy evil when even Victor is being humanized?

I don't know. PB said to "get the hankies ready" for the reveal. He will be emotionally crushed. So they will have their work cut out to make Jack the bad guy, especially since lately it's been made clear he was Victor's victim too AND Philly betrayed him. (In other words they dropped the Jack FAILED Phyllis angle).

As I said Phack is in the air but Philly is not a foregone conclusion either. Not by a long shot.

Oh, y'all. I want to do this recap the justice it deserves, because the episode was good, but I've been dealing with a lot of nervous energy the past few days which means I'm doing 42564226 things at the same time I'm watching the show. Therefore, I'm just going to hit on the highlights because I missed quite a bit. If someone else wants to recap though, go ahead.

Jack is freaking out and demands Ashley tell him what is going on between Phyllis and Billy. Ashley admits that Billy said he loves Phyllis and Jack looks like he wants to kill him. Ashley reassures Jack that Billy and Phyllis did not sleep together, but Jack wants answers from Billy. Jack goes down to the Brash & Sassy office and finds Billy making out with a red-head. The model takes off after seeing Jack and Jack lets it rip. He confronts Billy about being in love with his wife, and Billy tries to tell Jack that it was one-sided, and Phyllis ended it and is focused on her marriage to Jack. Jack starts throwing Billy around the office and it's glorious.

Billy then starts shouting at Jack, and tells him he can keep beating him if he wants, while hitting himself. And it's hilarious and also annoying because I want Jack to be the one to do all the hitting. Anyway, Jack storms off.

Billy goes to see Ashley and blames her for telling his secret to Jack three seconds after he told her. Ashley figures out Billy lied and slept with Phyllis and she's aghast. She asks how could Bill do that to his own brother, etc.

Phyllis is at therapy discussing her affair. She wants to come clean but the therapist asks what's her motive for telling Jack? BTW, Phyllis is still blaming herself for the whole Marco thing and how the whole town looked at her like she was stupid for not realizing Marco wasn't Jack. I don't recall this but whatever. Finally, in frustration, she leaves. Jack is watching her from the parking lot.

Phyllis goes home and Jack asks where she was. She lies about getting a manicure and Jack calls her out on her lie and asks why she was seeing their counselor without him. Then he demands she tell him the truth about Billy, who admitted he loves her. Phyllis says that was all on Billy's side, and she doesn't love him, but Jack shouts at her to tell him the truth.

Meanwhile Dullen is trying to interrogate Victor. He records their conversation but Victor only confesses to loving his son. Paul finds them, apologizes to Victor and lets him go, and yells at Dylan. Earlier, Paul went to see Nikki about Dylan and his obsession with not dropping the case.

Victor gets a restraining order against Dylan.

I agree. It was obscene, frankly. That was Jack's moment. Or should have been. And it became about Billy's feelings. Or rage or tortured love or whatever.

Who the fuck is Billy to tell Jack what his wife feels about him??????? God.

And to have the confrontation while Billy is STILL lying (Jack doesn't know that it was a full on affair) was stupid as fuck.

Yeah, JT and GT are IT now.

Well . . . TPTB HOPE that they're IT now but they've seriously miscalculated. They've scripted an empty lust affair with no heat and no charm whatsoever with a hack, poorly recast newcomer with zero sex appeal and a semi-newcomer, who seems too conflicted and tentative - and she appears to this viewer to be having at least some sense that this storyline will not be any boon to her character no matter how hard MY and the shots at CBS try to hard sell it to viewers. You can't shove your loyalist, hardcore fans out the back door by trying to lure the coveted demo group - that might amount to about a thousand viewers - in by the front door with with red carpets and trumpets blaring with Michael Fairman and Jamie Giddens gushing about how *hawt* they are. This is going to backfire on them big time.

Right.

The truth is even Giddens et al are no longer singing songs of glory for this pairing. It went on too long and got too weird and boring even for those who found it interesting and "hawt" at the outset.

JT can be presented as a leading tortured STAR and still leave Jack and his wife and life alone. GT can also be a star; playing opposite Peter Bergman is hardly back burned dreck. Hell, that's why Philly got all the attention it did and could justify being front burner -- they were cheating on Jack Abbott

I'm still hoping all this GT-JT promo shit is about trying to excite a particular segment of the audience -- the shipper online fans. The vast majority (the "loyalist, hardcore fans") watch the show at 12:30 live each weekday (no FFing) and then go about their lives. They are the ones who make up the vast vast vast majority of the 4 to 5 million, not the die hards with multiple Twitter accounts who tweet at Mal Young hourly about their SHIP.

P.S. If I sound like I'm trying to convince someone, I am. If they go with Philly love story and treat Bergman like some fucking side bit supporting player to GT and JT I cannot continue to watch this show. And I really really want to keep watching.

Possibly. All I know is it's crazy that it's the week of a major reveal for the couple that has been on/off for decades and the mags decide to interview......yeah. That's all I'm gonna say about that. Something is amiss here.

  • Love 4

Mag covers are about what sells. Nothing more. Nothing less. I've seen actors on the cover who had a throw away line about them in the mag. When a couple is hot on social media, the mags tend to cater to them for electronic buys.

The magazine got that story summary from the show and had a choice of who to interview. They chose GT and JT. Not the show. No?

So I can't even say that joint interview means much other than SOD thinks they'll get more buys than one with PB and GT.

I dunno. I'm getting repetitive and I don't want to beat a dead horse. I just find that these decisions, whoever is making them, are odd. I'll leave it at that, lol.

An example of weird face.

Daaayum! [Couldn't get the picture to copy, but this was the comment right before.]  I want to follow whatever workout program/diet/lifestylemantra that PB is on.  He looks like Billy's younger brother...not the older, almost father-age brother!  (Then, again, maybe JT is just reallly, reallllly out of shape.)  And I may watch=since Pratthole is no longer with us, I can tune in again= the "table scene".  Damn, Jack, beat the evalovin sh*t outta the creep.

  • Love 7

Okay that was some pure soapy goodness today.  PB knocked it out of the park and GT was good too.  JT made Billy more unlikable today than he was yesterday, which, how is that even possible?

Phyllis stupidly admitted everything to Jack including that she loves Billy.  He wanted all the deets of when they screwed and he pieced it all together including the cabin.  He had some great lines like this one:  Phyllis says she chose Jack, in the end, and Jack growls back at her:  In then end, in the end?  This is the end!  Anything we ever had, anything we ever were, anything we ever could have been, you just destroyed. I hope it was worth it.

Jack leaves Phyllis at the Abbott Mansion (YAY!) a crumpled mess, but then minutes later she shows up at Brash and Sassy and rushes in to tell Billy that Jack knows every thing about them, he knows about the two of them.  But....Victoria was present, she was just bending down to get her big bag, so she overhears and pops back up, and says WTF!  That was seriously funny.

But the capper was that Jack leaves Phyllis to go do a media interview with Neil re the Foundation.  Ash tries to talk him out of it but he says he is fine and he appears to be able to handle it.  Then he goes way off on a tangent about addicts who want second and third chances and they don't deserve it.  Neil asks, in front of the camera and interviewer, what is this all about, and Jack says it is about MY BROTHER, THE SCREW-UP WHO SLEPT WITH MY WIFE!

Previews has the media confronting Phyllis about the affair at the GCAC.

Jewel21, that's all I can remember, but there were lots of other good bits today.

  • Love 16

GT/PB did such a great job. When Jack talked about the cabin they fell in love in. :( I think I made it clear I don't give a flying crap about Phack or any other couple, but I'm so sad for Jack. I just want him to tell everyone to fuck off.

Billy telling Phyllis they can now run away together. WTF. This show hates me. They refuse to write Billy like a human. Or is this the romcomcomcomcom?

  • Love 10

I really hope Billy has burned that bridge with Victoria and it won't be repaired anytime soon. Flame on, douchebag.

Look at all the misery and destruction Billy and his sad white wiener have caused. He's wrecked his brother's life, humiliated his family, and he still doesn't realize he did anything wrong. Or if he does, he simply doesn't care because Billy wants what he wants when he wants it. Little monster. I never would have guessed that an Abbott would be the one to carry on Victor's legacy of toxic narcissism.

  • Love 10

I see in a twitter recap that Jack asks Phyllis for a divorce in today's Canadian. FUCK YEAH!!!!!! I was scared he'd "forgive her" (based on a spoiler he does something "shocking" today) and he'd be trapped in Philly hell but it appears no thank you.

Perhaps someone can confirm? I can't watch until later.

I just read the recap on Soaps She Knows.  He says: “Get out of my company and give me a divorce.”

To add on previews: Phyllis cries to Jack, “Don’t give up on us!” Jack intones, “Why not? You sure as hell did.”

Jack better get the damn divorce. And Phyllis blaming Jack for the media circus. STFU. And every time she says she loves Jack, I get rage-y.

The Billy/Vic scenes were unbelievable. Billy is shit. How is he rootable? Seriously!!!! How!? Someone explain like I'm Summer.

I LOVE so much that he gave her the gift of the media circus. I hope he shares the little tidbit about Adam's kidnapping too. #oops

Oh and I guess this is Billy HITTING BOTTOM. KMN

Jack/PB is giving me LIFE right now. When he told her that he wanted her out of his life and company, I was like, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Billy doesn't give a flying fuck. Makes me sick that this will probs end with Philly happy. Fuckers.

  • Love 6

The most annoying quality of Billy (of many) is when he says "I AM a loser. I DO wreck everything. blah blah" Someone just punch him in the face repeatedly. Please? Which Prevert suggested a scene from Airplane when everyone lines up to slap the hysterical woman? (Brilliant!) That's what we NEEEEEED.

When he pulled that "Ashley you are always Team Jack" shit yesterday she should have slapped him hard. How DARE he? He JUST fucking destroyed Jack's life and he has the audacity to act like a victim? NOW?

Watching PB/Jack and so thoroughly enjoying him (and I haven't even SEEN today's CDN) I suddenly don't care about Billy and Phyllis. They can have each other. I want to see Jack fuck with everyone. Let Philly be sappy and guilty and and miserable and in love.

Billy is so unwatchable - ugh - I can finally FF him because he'll be out of Jack's story.

That's what I wanted. Either Kill Philly or Kill Phack (Free Jack either way). Billy in his face, in his story totally killed Y&R for me. That's how bad it was. So I"m good (at this moment, lol).

Spoiler

Can you imagine the spoiler of Billy pleading his case to Phyllis and Phyllis being tempted next week? Can you just hear the cheesy porn dreck he will growl???? Oh to know Jack is FREE of this shit.

  • Love 9

Billy already hit bottom and is now in the process of renting an excavator to plow through to depths previously unknown to humanity. He should be pelted with rotting produce every time he steps outside and then cry a river over it. A river the citizens of Genoa City line up to piss in. This show wants me to feel bad for Billy for fucking up his own shit. It's like...he willfully slammed a car door closed on his own dick and expects everyone to line up to offer him an ice pack.

Well, Phyllis, you can always work at the Underground. There's never any customers and plenty of dropcloths you and that animated rubber chicken of yours can befoul.

  • Love 8

Phyllis was crying hard asking him what she needed to do to fix this. His reply --

"Get out of my life. Get out of my company. Give me a divorce!"

He is done with her shit.

Also Billy is straight trash. He goes to see Victoria demanding to take their kids because it is his day with them. She said raincheck because she doesn't want the, out in the media circus and he basically calls her a whore. Travis almost killed him. I wish he did.

And Jill STILL trying to play match maker? WTF? Cane is amused because he sees that he can pull a hostle takeover as they are all so distracted.

Nice seeing the Winters working as a Team.

Summer is Team Jack. Nick tried to get her to see her mom's POV but she not having it.

  • Love 13

I just care about Jack. So if he's free of them, I'm good as a viewer. But I was speaking from more of Jack's POV. The character doesn't deserve to watch Philly just happily go on their way.

I keep saying this, but it's true. Once they can no longer have Billy "tempt" Phyllis with racy dialogue and stalker eyes, they got nothing.

Ah yes! I hadn't thought of that. You're right Jack should NOT have to see Philly happy. My heart still hurts from when Phick had Summer.

  • Love 9

Well that was good and satisfying.

Summer is avoiding Nick and her mother who have been trying to reach her. Summer is at the GCAC when Phyllis walks in with the press right behind her asking about her affair. Nick is there and tells the press to get lost while Phyllis goes into the dining area.

Summer is disgusted with her mother and is worried about Jack, which is how it should be. Summer tells Phyllis Jack is too good for her and I cheer. Summer dishes some more hard truths, including how she had hoped Phyllis had changed but was clearly wrong, before finally storming off.

Nick talks with the press and they bring up his affair with Phyllis. Devon and Lily come by and try and shoo them away. Nick goes to speak with Phyllis. Nick tells her he’s not one to judge, and she discusses Marco with him and the affair. Nick says that if she loves Jack, she needs to fight for her marriage, even if Jack tells her to get lost.

Jack meanwhile stops by Jill’s. Jack is pissed that Jill kept her knowledge of the affair from him. Jill tries to explain that she was trying not to hurt Jack. Jill goes on to explain that  she was just trying to make Phyllis realize that she belongs with him, and not Billy, when Jack accuses her of blackmailing his wife. Jack isn’t having it and tells Jill that she will pay for keeping him in the dark and storms out the door.

Jack shows up at the foundation and apologizes to Neil about his outburst on live TV. Jack admits he knows the affair is taking away from the foundation, and he’s willing to step down. However, Neil doesn’t take him up on his offer. Neil instead says he understands how Jack feels since he too was cheated on with a member of his own family but Jack doesn’t want to discuss the affair. Neil insists that as Jack’s friend, and sponsor, he will be there for him. Neil then suggests maybe Jack should go to a meeting. However, Jack insists he’s not planning, or does he feel an urge, to drink or use.

Lily is pissed off about the press and she’s pissed at Jack for causing all this uproar at the GCAC. Lily tells a member of the press that if he doesn’t leave, she’s going to call the cops. The reporter threatens that if she kicks him out, he’ll dig up dirt on her family to share with the world.

Neil, Devon and Cane are trying to convince Lily that this isn’t Jack’s fault but Lily doesn’t really want to hear any of it. Neil admits that Jack offered to step down from the foundation, much to Lily’s approval, but Neil says he turned him down.

Billy, meanwhile, shows up at Victoria’s because it’s his day with the kids. Victoria isn’t having it though because there’s a media frenzy surrounding Billy. Billy is pissed off and brings up the fact that Victoria isn’t much of a better parent since she didn’t even know who Katie’s father was at first. Travis, who had left to give them privacy, comes back and tells Billy off. Billy insults Travis by mentioning he’s a bartender and Travis later brings up the fact that Billy once tended bar to Victoria. It’s rather amusing. Anyway, Billy finally takes off without the kids.

Everyone is stressed out about the situation, including Jill, who calls up Victoria, Cane and Billy and yells at them because no one is at the office and they all seem to have forgotten they have jobs. They all show up and sling insults and Victoria loses her cool and says she doesn’t want to work with Billy. And Billy says he doesn’t want to work with Victoria. And Jill is getting more indigestion.

Nick is at the park where Summer is sitting on a bench recalling a conversation she had with Phyllis not that long ago about Jack and her marriage. Summer is still pissed off at Phyllis and is worried about Jack. Nick tells her it’s wonderful she’s worried about Jack, because Jack is a nice guy, but she shouldn’t be so quick to judge Phyllis because not everything is black and white.  Nick goes on to admit he doesn’t regret the affair he once had with Phyllis despite having hurt a lot of people. When Summer asks why, Nick says because it gave him her, his smart, beautiful super girl.

Jack come home and finds Phyllis sitting on the stairs. Phyllis tries to talk to him and says she loves him, and she wants to work on their marriage. She suggests they go to therapy right now and work through their issues. But Jack says the only thing he wants from Phyllis is for her to get out of his life, his company, and to give him a divorce.

Previews show Kevin saying he thinks Chloe is hiding something, Jack and Phyllis still talking, and I forgot what else, unfortunately.

I personally like that Jack is angry but it’s a reserved anger. He’s not flying off the handle, he’s not drinking or falling apart, he’s just livid and it’s fascinating to watch.

Nick, you fucking shit-flinging baboon. How I've missed you showing your flaming red ass cheeks to the world! To think I've said nice things about you and compared you favorably to the rest of your dirtbag family. You're still the same prehistoric shitgibbon you always were, with the morals of a masturbating peeping tom and underwear sniffer. Jack's a nice guy, but you don't regret helping Phyllis ruin his life the first time. No offense, but the existence of Summer doesn't really make up for the utter emotional destruction you two slime molds wreaked on everyone in your path. Go gargle a jar of toenails, you oblivious fucknugget.

I didn't forget about you, Little Billy Buttbiscuit, misogynist clown shoe extraordinaire. It's a shame we do know who Katie's father is and it's you. Ever heard of a condom, you slut-shaming cockwagon? I know finding your size in rubbers is no mean feat, but I bet the thimble from the Monopoly game would work in a pinch. You have the personality of tertiary syphillis, the sex appeal of kelp, and a face in search of a fist wearing brass knuckles. I hope Travis uses you as a boat anchor on his next trip.

Jill, you liar. All you care about is making sure your diaper baby gets together with Victoria. Jack's feelings never entered into it.

Lily, shut it. You don't know fuck all about the situation.

How long will Summer's enlightenment last? I give it a week.

Ninjapenguins, how do I love thee?  Let me count the ways.  That is, if I EVER stop laughing.  Your posts are in a stratosphere all their own.

Fekin brilliant!

And while I'm on a bilious [Billyous?] tangent... Lily! In your "I'm too sexy for my club" red dress. Shut the hell up. I only marginally tolerated you for a while there because you were something other than the abyss of miscasting that is JT. But, sweetie, you're in the same bin as MS Phyllis--and that bin's called, "basically intolerable." Bitching about Jack causing a ruckus when your dear philandering daddy just about blew lunch all over a press conference at your exclusive little venue. Sauce for the goose, honbun.
