With the realization that Eddie is finally mature enough to be left on his own, Louis and Jessica see the light at the end of their parenting tunnel and make plans to spend more time with friends Honey and Marvin - until their neighbors announce a plan of their own: Marvin is getting his vasectomy reversed so the couple can conceive a baby. The Huangs do their best to dissuade them.

I have never heard of someone making a suicide at home, that was a purely done with fountain sodas in my day! I also refuse to believe that Jessica would allow that to be a regular occurrence because it would be a waste of soda and i doubt she would buy several different kinds of soda which is why it was reserved for places with fountain sodas!

The Huang are nearly all a bunch of selfish assholes, I am sure Emery and Evan will soon follow. I didn't find their change of hearts redeeming.

I think Evan's stunt with the ice cream near the end of the episode proves that he already has.

They seem to be going out of their way to make the Huangs as unlikable as possible this season, even Louis, whom I've always found to be the most likable of the entire family. I will give props to Eddie for stepping up and taking responsibility and explaining he and Allison really weren't back together.

Were Louis and Jessica blaming Eddie at the end for ruining the couch, even though it was that little bastard Evan?

If no one said how the stain got there, Eddie is the logical choice because he used to do it all the time.

Yes, I'm not liking this season at all very much. There's been a few good things like I like how Eddie is maturing, at least a little bit, but I agree the Huangs are just too unlikable this season except Emery. However, it seems like they don't know what to do with him, and just saddled him with a bad year storyline.

I also agree with biakbiak that I don't see Jessica being the type of mom that would let Eddie make suicides at home since it would be a waste of soda and because he was really messy with them.

I actually think Eddie has been the brightest light this season. He's growing up in a very believeable way. He's still flawed and still makes mistakes but is also growing and challenging himself. His understanding at the end of this episode that remembering Allison was important was great. I thought his Allison breakup stuff was great too. He got over being a child and was there for Nicole the other week. I've been enjoying his plots the most this season and that is in part because I think they've nailed writing for a teenager and in part because all the other Huangs have been so awful.

And speaking of Nicole, her little appearance at the end of the episode was amazing. She is leaning into the liking girls thing. The costume designer nailed that 1997 crunchy Lilith Fair look perfectly. I loved that.

Yes, they were.  They thought it was Eddie, which makes me surprised that Eddie didn't make a beeline for them right away to tell them that Evan did it.  Or at least try to clean it up before it could be seen.

I wonder if my DVR cut off before the end, because I don't think I saw them blaming Eddie. I thought I saw them saying they didn't know which one did it, so they were all going to be in trouble. But they couldn't flip the cushion because Eddie got the other side messed up when Jessica's water broke when about to go into labor with him. So he was already making a mess before he was born.

Didn't like this one too much.  They do raise a good point about being a parent at Marvin's age, and the homeless turned parents at the park were amusing, but Honey is supposed to be Jessica's friend.

I did like the first scene with Evan and Alison but the rest of the subplot wasn't fun to watch.  I'm still trying to get used to Eddie's lower voice.

All three subplots were weak and made the characters unlikeable.

That last remark implied that they leaned toward it being Eddie.

It's one thing to be happy that your kids are mature enough to give you some freedom, but both Jessica and Louis made it sound like having children was something they just did, instead of actively wanting to have them.  Previously, Louis had always been portrayed as a loving father.  There was even an episode when he wanted a little girl.  Jessica is certainly a neurotic parent, but I never felt she hadn't wanted to be a mother.

They blamed Eddie for Jessica's water breaking on the couch, but I don't think they blamed Eddie for the ice cream on the couch. If they thought it was him, they would have just punished him. Instead, they punished all of the kids, because they didn't know which one it was.

Evan's been unbearable for quite some time. I'm not sure why the writers felt it was necessary to make him such a brat.

This.

I just got done watching this episode now. What did Honey mean when she said that she's never had trouble getting pregnant? That she's given a kid up for adoption, had miscarriages or had an abortion? I just found that line really weird. I wish a show like this would make a female character like Honey happy to be childfree. It's not a bad thing.

Nicole's appearance at the end was great. I loved the Emery and Grandma story with her using his bad luck to her advantage and her little speech to him near the end.
