Growing Up Supermodel - General Discussion

Fast forward 5 years,  and none of then are working (anywhere),  except tge older Schroder daughter, with a walk- on as a Bond girl -----in one film.

LeBrock-Seagal (?)'s daughter is grumpy. She just doesn't have anything special about her face, or outstanding otherwise,  to be a successful model.  Same for the others....everyday nice-looking people, but meh.

Maybe they need Chris Jenner to manage/promote/pimp them.

Schroder's older daughter is very street-wise, and a go-getter. I kinda like her.

The younger daughter is going to manifest the bumps of the divorce,   plus a clingy helpless mother,  famous dad, and successful sibling.

I am confused by Beverly Peele and would love to know her story.  According to Wikipedia she had Cairo at 17 (which I imagine didn't help her career) and then she has all these other kids (including the latest) with no mention of a father for any of them.  What does she do to support these kids?  She mentioned needing a nanny so she must do something to afford one.

I also would LOVE to know the circumstances of the Shroder divorce and break up.  There seems to be a lot of tension there.  At first I thought maybe Rick had an affair or a mid life crisis but after doing some digging I get the impression (with no proof) that Andrea may have been cheating.

When I look at Arissa I see more Steven Seagal than Kelly LeBrock.   I wonder if Arissa has a relationship with her crazy dad.

The Shroder girls are nothing special and the oldest should never have pointed out that she is basically a twin of her father.  Now that is all I see.

I think Cairo has had a hard life with a mother who doesn't have a clue.

Could care less about the Belgian kind or the son of Billie #2 on Days of Our Lives (who also dated George Clooney for awhile).

I love Shanna and I am sure Atiana's drama with her absentee father will bring a lot.  Hopefully we get a Travis Barker cameo.

Yay! A forum!!! I didn't see the second ep yet but I want to know in what universe Krista Allen's kid is a model let alone a supermodel. Also lmao at his TH about not wanting to be known as Krista's son. Oh honey, no one remembers your mama. That's assuming they even knew about her to begin with...

I feel bad for the poor plus-size model: her looks are...unfortunate...but then. Mom looks rode hard and put away wet.  Don't know who Krista Allen was, didn't know Beverly Peele, and she has a gross neck with those rings around.  How does anyone get a job saying "I'm Rickey Schroeder's kid"?  Who cares?

Nobody is more than a Grade D celebrity, and "Supermodel" is quite the exaggeration!.  And yet I watch...

I'm curious about Beverly Peele too! She photographed beautifully back in the day. She should have had a much bigger career than she did. She seemed to disappear after having Cairo only to pop up in the news over the stolen credit cards situation.

I love Kelly LeBrock. I'd rather watch a show about her life at the ranch than this mess.

I like Andrea's candles. Agree with others she needs therapy.

Shanna Moakler's new home looks depressing compared to her old ones featured on other shows.

Not seeing any supermodels on this. Arissa is more Segal than LeBrock but I still find her pretty. I could see Arissa doing a lot of androgynous high fashiony stuff. Cairo looks nothing like her mom Beverly did back in the day. The Shroder girls are regular girl pretty. Atianna is too.

I too didn't know who Krista Allen is. I did like Atianna being the only one who mentioned it was a bummer that Arissa was excluded from a shoot. I thought that was sweet. It seemed genuine to me.

Mentioned it in another thread but I liked Atianna mentioning it's a bummer that Arissa was excluded from a product shoot. It seemed sweet and genuine. Andrea's clinginess is bad on camera I don't want to know what she's like without cameras.

Oh My God! This show is just....bizarre. What supermodels!? I don't see any! And wtf happened to Beverly Peele?? I remember when she was big. Now, she looks like a down and out welfare mom popping out kids. Cairo....ummm....I have no words.

I think it was the first episode where I heard one of the Schroder girls correctly form a plural possessive.  I'm working from memory and don't remember the sentence, but I do remember the important parts.  She used "my" instead of "I's" and had the words in the right order.  So instead of the ubiquitous "Bob and I's dog," her version was "Bob's and my dog."  I about fainted, and it almost made me like her, until I watched them talk about how much money they make from posing on Instagram or whatever, and that whole scene just makes me sick.  It's a shame good grammar is wasted on her.

Cambrie Schroder is not attractive, imo. Her face seems really plump and squished. And she has the face of a 30-year-old.

I remember Kelly LeBrock on Vogue covers. She was gorgeous, but even then, I wondered what was going on with her lips. This was before people had lip injections. She is still beautiful, but why does she look like she's wearing prosthetics or a fat suit? She moves in a very unnatural way, as if she is not used to that body.

These kids sure do think highly of themselves, especially those Shroder girls. They're all a bunch of basics with stage parents.

This show also reinforces that plastic surgery is bad, mm kay.

I can't see it making it past 1 season.

I haven't seen this (and won't), but Kelly LeBrock needs to lay off of more than just her lips. She's completely wrecked her face with plastic surgery. I wish our society would start accepting (or at least tolerating) people growing old gracefully. I happened to catch 30 seconds of Crocodile Dundee 3 and Paul Hogan had had a lot of plastic surgery by then and he no longer looks like himself, either. My wife has joked about getting botox and I have a hard time responding to it as a joke.

For some of these kids, the show should be renamed "Growing Up Entitled" or "Growing Up on Social Media".

Cambrie's personality reminds me so much of Hannah's, Dorinda's daughter (RHoNYC). She's so aware of the camera and thinks that everything she does or says is fabulous.

I watched last night on demand. Was this a talking head during the pizza party? Because although closed-captioning gave us "Faith's and my" I am almost 95% sure that she said, "Faith and I's".

But yes, it seems schools are no longer teaching basic grammar.

I'm so glad there is finally a forum for this show! It's so snark-able!

I think Arissa has the prettiest face for sure. Some of the others are kind of hard to look at. ?

Ha! I just said the same in the Parents forum.

I kind of wondered if the clinginess was due to the fact that Ricky and Andrea got married when she was only 18. I think she started having children young too. I'm guessing her entire life has revolved around being a SAHM and she's having the most difficulty letting go.

I've seen Krista in some B-movies, etc. Plus she dated George Clooney on and off. I don't think her son is really model material, but he seems like a nice enough, albeit awkward young man.

They only got married because she got pregnant* so I'm not surprised that she's clingy/needy since she went from living with her parents straight to being a mom.

* the timeline:

  • Ricky and Andrea met when she was 17/18
  • their first kid (Holden) was born on January 8, 1992
  • they got married on September 26, 1992

I find this show oddly compelling in a train wreck kind of way. It is so bad it's good! And if it's taught me anything, it's that the whole celebrity offspring model thing has gotten WAY out of control. Krista Allen seems like a very nice woman, but who the hell is she and why is she pimping her unbelievably non-modelesque son? Who is this mysterious Dutch boy and his father who keep trying to get into the country? Does Sahnna Moakler really think that her daughter will get a Gucci campaign in this lifetime? Ricky and his eldest daughter look like twins! They have the same big Charlie Brown head! Arissa, as much as I kind of like her so far, is also a dead ringer for her pops (I'm getting a kick out of Kelly, though). Lastly, Beverly Peele's daughter has no chin.

Right? It's as if they all think hey my mom/dad was slightly famous, where's my modeling contract?

Who are the companies paying these idiots for posts? Makes me not want to buy any of their products.

Thanks for the rundown. Ricky used to be one of my childhood crushes, but I lost track of him many years ago and just never looked into what happened to him.

I vaguely remember Andrea being really young when they got together and then married.

Oh hell yes! Kelly, does this mean you've come out of hiding now?? That woman is SO watchable. I too would love to see her get her own show.

She has always had big lips, before she even started modeling. I do suspect that, given her age ( which makes lips loose natural collagen and shrink), that she tops hers up a bit to retain the plumpness. Regardless, she was a sexpot back in the day and a real hoot!

I'm confused about the Schroder family.  The parents were practicing Mormons before they left LDS "recently".  I would never guess Cambrie had been raised in that religion, because she very straight forwardly stated her virginity was long gone.  I also don't get why Andrea is pretending she only has the two girls.  In "Daddy Issues", Andrea stated she "didn't know the role of having older kids".  Andrea has a 25 y/o son and a 24 y/o son.  She exactly knows the role of having older kids.  Why is she pretending??  It truly bothers me.  Then there's, "I don't know the role of even being 40".  Well Andrea, you are 43 years old this year.  So you've been in your forties for three years now.  Again, why pretend?  She may be somewhat obscure, but her ex-husband has been famous since childhood, and only a quick google search away.  Other than these complaints, she's not really bothering me.  She's been with one man since she was 17, and practiced a restrictive religion for most of her life.  She probably feels like she's in free fall right now.

Krista is beyond deluded.  Female models can get away with looking quirky or unique (if their bodies are great), but male models trend toward pretty, and definitely fit.  This kid does not fit that bill.  And when she kind of pushed the hair dresser aside to run her hands through his hair - well, it was a little strange as well as rude.  I haven't seen any motivation or interest in him.  When Cambrie and Faith were talking about how to increase your SM presence, he seemed a little concerned that work was involved.  He had some acting success when he was young, and I'm guessing his mother thinks this will open doors to get back into acting.  And I wouldn't be a bit surprised if she pushed him to take this job to raise her own profile.

I don't understand what Cairo says she works on all day.  It looks like an ice cream truck loaded with her clothes and jewelry.  Does she drive around playing music to attract buyers, and then sell out of the back of the truck?

I like Cairo and I get her frustration regarding her mother having babies.  One thing she needs to be told is to get rid of those hideous nails.  They're too hard to take off at the last minute, and she could lose jobs or job opportunities because they're so garish.

This show is basically a train wreck - but yet I keep watching it!   I had to look up Krista Allen and even then I didn't know who she was or recognize any of her work.    All three Schroder females grate on my nerves for some reason - mom more than her daughters - she's a bit overbearing.   I don't get the title they chose at all- I can't see any of these kids ever being super models.  Entitled yes- super models - nope.

Unfortunately "Entitled children of Hollywood" isn't a good selling title despite being much more fitting.

I'm looking forward to the next series: Kelly at the Ranch.

I don't care what she has and hasn't done to her face. She seems very cool and laidback.

I'm with you! I adore her no matter what she has or hasn't done to her face. I want a series of her out at the ranch. I love that despite everything she went through with Segal she remains level headed when Arissa bashes him. It takes a lot to not be bitter, spiteful.

Drat.  I think it was a TH.  I do use captions, but I'm also listening, but I can see that if the caption said"Faith's and my" I could have been so in shock I didn't actually hear anything.  One thing for sure--I'm not gonna re-watch!

So I'm taking back my compliment unless someone else heard it.

I'm not sure why I know this, but Krista Allen starred in a bunch of soft porn "Emanuelle" movies that they used to show on Skinemax (Cinemax late night)

She was also replacement Billie Reed (for Lisa Rinna) on DOOL in the '90s.
