Does Toby know anything about Happy before getting married?

Who brings your wedding gifts with you on a work trip/Honeymoon? 

I liked no fears Sylvester.

Ralph & Walter were so annoying.

3 weeks later & Cabe is still wearing a suit and tie?

Given the usual creativity of this show, I was surprised not to see a polar bear and a smoke monster.

Disappointed to have to say this, but, shut up Wesley! Oops, I mean Ralph. He has been at least tolerable before this, but suddenly he is the Soap Opera Exposition Character.

For the first time Ralph was fricking annoying!  SEVEN SECONDS, FOUR SECONDS, ONE SECOND!  They can count, genius!  (Using it sarcastically this time)

I agreee w/Artsda, No Fear Ralph was hot!

can we keep the character of the Pilot & drop Walter?  He was even worse as optimist, "romantic", mushy Walter.  I groaned every time he opened his mouth.

Cabe was the best part.  Three weeks in and still dressed & pressed.  "That flare got up pretty high."

Or how about a spinoff with the pilot as a nerd herder?

The first time someone said that Walter got it up was mildly amusing. The second time was okay in case some of the viewers had missed it. By about the 7th time it looked like the actors were trying to decide whether to murder the writers or climb under rocks to hide.

Maybe next week when they get rescued it will turn out that most of this week was a concussion or kava root induced dream.

I did love Gabe telling Ralph he could be scared but he couldn't be disrespectful. So many shows write the smart mouthed kids as if that's a good thing. I loved hearing Ralph being told it isn't acceptable.

I forgot abt that, you're right.  

Cabe is the best part of the whole show.  Robert Patrick is the only good part of the ensemble (okay, maybe Eddie too).

I actually assumed that the other guys were shaving since they had luggage. Sly not shaving seemed in keeping with his going a little nuts.

It's about time something didn't work (I'm looking at Bull for this next!).   I loved no fears Sly -- I typically find Sly to be the high point of most episodes, though.  Gabe was great as well -- he is looking the part of Mr. Howell, certainly.  And I agree that Walt was insufferable. If I were Paige, I'd be dumping him quickly.

I was expecting Walt's sudden wave of emotion to be diagnosed as head trauma, creating another emergency.  Still hoping for that, or that Paige gets fed up and drowns him on one of their beach walks.

The Toby/Happy thing read one of two ways to me:

1 (the way that gives the writers a lot of credit) It doesn't make sense for random tidbits about her past to suddenly come up naturally during conversation ALL THE TIME the second they're married, so the implication is she drops these tidbits of info all the time, and before he either wasn't really listening/retaining, or because the things didn't surprise him, it just didn't strike him as notable at the time

2 (the way that does not) They just super contrived it for Happy to suddenly drop a zillion details now to create fake stupid jealousy tension

 

I thought it was an intentional sight gag (and commentary on his character) that in the flash forward we see everyone else in the same clothes and dirty and worn and tired looking, and not only is Cabe still wearing his suit and tie, but he doesn't even look all that dirty. He looks as pressed as he did five minutes after the crash.

I have to admit I laughed in spite of myself at Cabe still standing in the same spot three weeks later.  Flare got up pretty high.  Heh.  (The flare was so tiny!)

I don't like Walter being a fool for love.  All these years waiting for these two dopes to get it together and this is the payoff??  Lame.

Walt did get a funny line off not knowing who Jake Gyllenhal (sp) was though....is he related to that Gilligan fella?!

That and Sylvester's huge three-week beard, to me, were the clearest signals the show has sent that it's intending to be a tongue-in-cheek "adventure" show deliberately not taking itself seriously, as someone (sorry, forget who/where) said on another thread in comparing it to shows like The A-Team.

I actually go with this one not cuz I want to give the writers a lot of credit, but because I can see Happy dropping little bits here and there and Toby not paying attention because he was all goggle-eyed in love.  Unfortunately, in this episode, when Happy mentioned one of these things, SHE sure seemed like she was mentioning it for the first time, so I think option 3 - the writers thought it would be funny to have these things drop now (ice road trucking?? I can totally see Happy doing that).  I don't think they're going for tension/jealousy with Toby and Happy - we already had that when she was married to Walter.

The whole episode was entertaining.  None of the regulars are in peril because the show knows we won't take it seriously, so we had the pilot in peril instead.  You know they're going to get back just in time for him to see his kid being born. 

Walter acting goofy was funny to me - the weird smile, the staring eyes.   It was just so odd and unusual, ha.  I LOL when he showed up with the fish.

However, I agree that this was the best part:

I liked how at "3 weeks later" everyone is still pale.  I guess they are all being sure to stay out of the sun!

The beard didn't strike me as that far out (other than everyone else being completely clean shaven still). I know a couple of guys who can go from nothing to well-defined beard in about a week, so multiplied by three it didn't seem super exaggerated. Slightly exaggerated sure, but not hugely so, but I'm basing this off a super small sample size of dudes who are admittedly not average. So I guess for most dude's that was something more like 2 months worth?

That was a great moment. I love scenes of Cabe and Ralph together. Cabe is very much a granfdather figure to him.

This won't work perfectly, but I had to give it a try (also if other people want to disagree and give it a shot, go for it)

I love this idea! This would have been a much better cliffhanger to set up part two than what they actually did.

That was me! It could have been other people too, but I was one of them. I like that the show knows it's fun action adventure-series and doesn't try to be some gritty "realistic" drama.

One realistic thing happened - the ship didn't see their flare. I went through a phase where I read a bunch of non-fiction books by people who had been lost at sea and they all thought they were saved the first time they saw a ship. The big ships never saw them. You need a small fishing boat where the crew actually looks out to sea. I suppose this crazy show will rig some weird rube goldberg thing to save themselves.

Paige and Walter, just no.
