Looks like the proposed March air date of S37 got right. Spring doesn't usually start till mid-March.

As for S38 that I mentioned a few months ago, casting is already open that had begun nearly three weeks ago, filming will be in the entire month of March shortly after the premiere of S37.

Thanks for the info - can't wait for it to come back!

I have been having withdrawals, and I was so underwhelmed by the last season that took place mostly in South America. I started watching Season 1 since all seasons are on Paramount+ and oh my gravy! Season 1 looks like a completely different show. It's wild how long this show has been on and how it's evolved. Phil looks like a baby (he doesn't even meet them at the mat in season 1!), production was not nearly as slick and the rudeness of the participants in foreign countries is beyond cringey and off the charts compared to more recent seasons. But oh how I miss those early years where they were largely left to their own devices to figure out travel arrangements!

Per the season's Wikipedia page, the first episode of the coming season will be screened at the Savannah College of Art Design's TVFest in Atlanta this coming Wednesday; and there will be a panel with Phil amongst the guests there.

To hearing this news, I am curious if this means the racers for the season will be released earlier than is usually the case; or if those who are going to be attending the screening & panel will be sworn to total secrecy for everything that goes on as is the case with the racers before the season airs.

Given that the cast information for the next season of Survivor was released a few days ago, and that premieres the week before this season of TAR does, I would assume that they're going to be releasing the TAR cast information soon, and probably in conjunction with this event.

Interesting! I might try to attend if it's not during work hours...SCAD Atlanta is just a few miles away from me.

Looks like a good group.  No (obvious) mactors, influencers or pseudo-celebs.  Probably the largest number of people over 50 in any season (7).  A good mix of couples, friends, siblings and parent/kids.  Starting with 14 teams and a double elimination the first leg.

I like how MOST of the teams are simply labeled "married", "friends", "siblings", etc., and not Married Sword Swallowers, or Dating Social Media Influencers or whatever. I know some of them do have a descriptor like that, but it looks like hopefully they are finally moving away from making the teams' gig or schtick the main focus.

I feel like it's unusual to have the child in the parent/child teams be in their 30s, but here we have two of them. Usually it seems the child is early-mid 20s. But I could be mis-remembering.

Anyway, sadly I couldn't make the TV Fest mentioned above for the screening. I'll look forward to March 5 and hopefully a good season.

'The Amazing Race 37' Host Phil Keoghan Promises a New 'Surprise' Every Episode (Exclusive)
Mike Bloom   Feb 24, 2025

The extent of "surprises," naturally, will run the gamut. Some things will be brand new to the CBS show, including the premiere "Fork in the Road" twist that splits the pairs in two, creating two separate races–and eliminations–for the leg. Some will test their strategy, like an element Keoghan teases at the season's halfway point that will force them to "make some pretty crucial decisions that definitely affect their standing in the race." But most will be elements from previous seasons which are seeing their return in Season 37. That includes the Fast Forward, a mainstay of the first four seasons of the race that allows one team to skip all remaining tasks and go directly to the Pit Stop.
*  *  *
To that point, does that mean we should expect a different twist or "surprise" every single episode?
Every leg is going to have something that will force them to have to adapt or to adjust or to strategize in a unique way. And by the way, this is unique to this season. Because, let's be honest, the show is a show of surprises, period. Every time a team rips and reads an envelope, it's a surprise. They don't know where they're going; they don't know what they're doing. But this was making more of a point of, "Okay, here's a specific surprise for you." For instance, in Episode 1 with the Fork in the Road. There's a point about halfway through the season where they're forced to make some pretty crucial decisions that definitely affect their standing in the race. So again, it was just about trying to catch people off-guard.
*  *  *
We've just talked about two "surprises," one being an item from a previous season and one being something completely new. What's the balance between previously-existing and brand-new in all of the "surprises" this season?
It's more about bringing back things that we know have worked before, as opposed to trying to change the whole format. You don't want to mess with the format too much. You don't want to deviate too much where the show becomes unrecognizable for people. One of the things I did this season was I spent a whole week doing an analysis of, "What do people talk about? What teams do they like? What challenges are their favorites? What are the reasons that people tune into the show?" And if you look at the primary reasons that people tune into the show, it's not about twists or wanting to see a new twist as much as they want the surprise elements. But we have surprise elements all the time, because our show is literally "rip and read an envelope, and you don't know where you're going. You don't know what you're doing." So it's much more about who's on the show, what do we get them to do, and how are they going to react? That is what makes the show work. So you want to be careful that you don't do things that are going to alienate the audience as well.

Really, Phil?  I'm not believing you on this.  Because if you really looked at what people talk about, what teams we like, you'd find that one of our Top 3 (if not #1) gripe is cross casting from other reality shows.  And what are you giving us next season?  An entire cast of reality show whores.  TAR has done really well lately casting teams that seem to be true TAR fans.  Apparently, that's out the window. 🤮

We also spoke to Keoghan to get some teases on what to expect on the rest of the season 37 premiere.

Just to clarify, I am talking about NEXT season.  Season 38, which will start filming shortly and air probably in 2026.  This season (37, starting in a week) is safe to watch.

That article is so discouraging. Janelle complaining that Amazing Race 31 only paid $1200. That is what is so wrong with doing an all BB cast. There are thousands and thousands of people out there who would do the Race for free even if there wasn't a million dollar prize for the winner. Ugh. Well, hopefully 37 is a good season.

That would be true. S38 will start filming this week and will air this fall. The 39th season is currently on casting that filming will begin in July and concluding in August, that will air probably in 2026. S38 will be consisting of former Big Brother houseguests that the cast will be similar to S28, and S39 will be newbies.
