Gotta love Cody Miller's whooping it up with his personal best and placing bronze. He was high fiving and punching the air like he won gold. Too cute.

While I understand your feelings, I have a bit of a soft spot when it comes to Phelps. I can't really explain it.

However, I have a really rip-roaring crush on Lochte and as dumb as he is, he is known as a great guy. So I kind of want him to win. I hope the state of Maryland doesn't disown for me this.

No it's fair. :) like i respect what he did/does in the pool - I even ignored the bong thing, but I didn't know about the DUIs. that's just brrzzttt for me.

I've seen Michael Phelps swim a lot of amazing races, but JFC. That was unreal. I remember when breaststroke used to be his "weak" stroke. And what even happened on that freestyle leg? I blinked and he was suddenly a body length in front of everyone else. Good lord. That was crazy impressive.

Sad that Ryan didn't medal, though.  :-(

Freaking unbelievable call on the Phelps win on the Canadian channel -- they kept saying Lochte was in Lane Four, and called the entire race that way.  I kept counting lanes and not understanding why they were saying Phelps was out of it. "LOCHTE WINS THE GOLD!!!" Then, five seconds AFTER the finish, they  said, "whoops, Michael Phelps was in that lane".  No kidding, guys.  It would be funny if it had not ruined the enjoyment of the result.

I wish I could like your post a hundred thousand times because that is exactly how I feel.  At least I had preseason football to keep me from the nonsense and Track and Field starts tomorrow.

Exactly how I feel. He can take this one of two ways...quit or use it as motivation. The fact that he was second behind Phelps in the semis means SOMETHING. COME BACK RYAN!

I couldn't believe it!  Of course, I was sure I was wrong, and I kept counting lanes instead of focusing on the race.  Sheesh, Canadians!  I mean, they said Lochte was ahead the entire race, and "Phelps will not even medal" in the final few seconds.

I agree. I mean, I'm certainly in no position to criticize the physique of an elite athlete, but when I first saw him at Rio my initial thought was that he looked doughier than I expected.
