Challenge sneak peek.  I will say, not knowing the outcome or the actual specifics of the challenge, I don't know that GenX thinks these challenges (and who does what task) very clearly.  Still, I hope the millennials lose.  I find that tribe far more annoying.

Every episode, I see more evidence of why Michaela was asked back for next season. Zeke? Not so much. Dude is just not compelling. I don't hate him as much as I expected. I just don't care about him at all. I know he has to go far and to make some impact on the game, considering the "theme" for next season, but I just don't see it being enough for me to care.

Probst compared him to some big names from the past, so I guess he's just biding his time before that side of him comes out.  I have been curious what it was that brought these two back, but I can see it.  I fully expected to go in hating Zeke just for the Hawaiian shirt and pornstache alone, but he's actually been one of my favorites this season.  Although considering I'm finding this cast as a whole boring to unlikable, I don't feel a high bar has been raised.

with the swap happening next week, I'm hoping for some bigger game play.  We haven't seen much from the millennials.  Maybe this will bring out the the Hatch/Coach/Phillip/whatever other comparisons were made side of Zeke that Probst talked about.

Hey now - leave the boy's shirts alone.  I spent over a decade in my office making aloha shirts acceptable as office casual.  :D

Did not know this.  :(  :(  :(

There's debate whether Adam was actually pulled from the game, or voted out and left pre-jury Ponderosa.  His mother passed away I believe the day the cast was supposed to have flown back from filming, and there was supposed online activity from him when filming was going on.  Whether it was really him or someone using his accounts is, again, up for debate.  Though if his mom was that bad, I have to believe that something effects him game wise.

Well, I'd already somewhat written off the bootlist, even though Rachel, Mari, and Paul all left pre-merge like it said they would.  But Lucy being booted pre-merge, as well, when she was allegedly a juror officially makes me write it off completely.  Now I don't know what will happen.

I kind of wish the boot list had been right.  Not that I was happy with it, but at least I'd know what was happening so I could prepare.  Since S34 is returning players, hoping we get some solid spoilers for that.  Those seem to be the seasons where more accurate info leaks out.

The episode description for this coming week (Idol Search Party) is: "Castaways work together to look for the hidden immunity idol; one tribe receives an unwelcome surprise."  It'd be great if the unwelcome surprise was something other than the tribe swap.  Speculation on Sucks is that the millennial camp may have to move and start over.  But it's probably related to the tribe swap.

Also, based on their screenshots, they are thinking Jessica F/Taylor/Jay wind up on Camp GenX (maybe I'll actually bother to learn the tribe names this week since Jeff can't call them GenX and Millennials anymore).

I didn't know it was being debated.

I do hope he got to see her again and tell her all about his Survivor experience. In any case, I lost my mother to colon cancer, so I know how much cancer sucks.

There was just some speculation as to the circumstances of Adam's boot.  I thought Redmond had said there was a contestant pulled this season for a family emergency, but he says he never said that.  So I don't know if he was a regular vote off, got pulled, or what.  I doubt there would be much fanfare until that episode happened anyway.  Whatever the case, I agree with your sentiments.  I lost my father to lung cancer nine years ago, so I certainly sympathize.

Here's a sneak peek for the ep this week:

The preview next week: has this show not learned that blindfolded challenges do not work well, or are they really looking to kill someone?  Sorry, but medical continuing to be called in is not entertainment for me, and I don't consider it jaw dropping anymore (not that I ever did).

I really hope that Figs opening up to Jess is foreshadowing to the lovers getting blindsided next week (preferably, I'd like Jay to walk into the next challenge and see his bro got voted off).  However, I'm not counting on that.  But I can hope.

We have a Survivor classic next week with the blindfolded challenge. What can you tease up for the next episode?
Ah, that challenge is so fun, and during the challenge, we experience yet another Survivor first!

So, according to the good folks at sucks the cameraman visited the Nu Takali tribe after the merge (the press pics of Figgy-Taylor_Ken talking) and this usually indicates the tribe that is going to tribal council that night.

I do think "Fails" is going to get broken up and I think it might be Taylor that gets voted out.  I think Figgy is going to be with us for awhile based on the edit (we had Will in episode 2 saying if they don't vote her out now she might go all the way to the end).  We shall see.

Episode description..

10.27.2016

TWO MILLENNIALS ATTEMPT TO PUT THE PAST BEHIND THEM AND WORK TOGETHER, ON “SURVIVOR,” WEDNESDAY, NOV. 2

“I Will Destroy You”– Two millennials attempt to put the past behind them and work together, and another castaway feels the heat when they’re interrogated about their true profession,

CHEAT TWEET: 2 Millennials attempt 2 mend their relationship after their trust is broken

Well clearly the two millennials referred to here are Adam and Taylor. I mean I can't think of any other two this could be referring to at this time.  The castaway being grilled about their true profession?  That is the interesting one.  Not sure who could that be.  I know from exit interviews that Jessica had been telling her tribemates that she was a photographer and not an ADA.  But I am not sure why this would come up now?  So maybe it is some one else? Nothing in this episode description seems to apply to the Vanua tribe which I hope indicates that they once again will not be going to tribal council.  Please let this be the case.

A post on Sucks has a picture of David from the promo, showing a buff that has a different pattern on it from his current tribe buff.  Could be CBS tried to alter the pattern to throw people off, but here it is.  This is from the scene where David and Zeke are talking on the beach (look like Zeke's pattern is the same as Chris's in this):

vc_s33_promo_ep7_10_26_0011.jpg

And here's one of David on the beach in a TH

vc_s33_promo_ep7_10_26_0012.jpg

If it isn't CBS altering the buff, speculation on Sucks is this scene of David and Zeke could be from the merge episode, but they interested in here for story line purposes.  So there's two possibilities being safe this next boot (not that it's shocking that either would survive the next boot).

Interesting.

The one David is wearing in the TH matches the one being sold by CBS as the official Buff.  But none of the current official Buffs match the design in the two-shot, so there's no color change trickery with the tribes as is.

The one in the TH also looks a lot cleaner than the one in the two-shot.  So that one must be newer.

One possibility is that, after the tribe swap, Vanua picked up the old buffs to keep using, and that design is the one we see in the two-shot.  The TH one is the post-swap buff when there are 3 colors, and David switched into the new one for the TH or for laundry purposes.

Or, he could have damaged his buff in the fire (since he does seem to be the primary fire maker on his tribes), and the only replacement they had was the "new" "official" style.

One other possibility occurs to me much later.  Perhaps its not the two-shot that's out of chronology, but the TH.  That could be pre-swap or post-merge and had the Buff altered to fit the timeline.  It'd be easier to do in a TH, since there's just the one person and they're sitting relatively still.  It would also explain the cleanliness of the Buff.  And if the design was changed between shooting and selling, but they didn't have a digital copy of the old version, that explains the pattern change.

Was there a rumor that this season started with 2 tribes, swapped to 3, and then back down to 2 before the merge, or did I make that up? If it was a real rumor and not just my imagination, it could explain the slightly different buff as well as the "unexpected" event of the preview.

This thread from Sucks has a screen shot of Zeke from one of this week's preview-his buff is the color of the rumored merge buff, so either CBS buff-o-maticed it, or they slipped up.  Looks like Zeke's story line may be beginning.  This thread also had a comment about a clip being shown at some EW event, and it focused on the Jay and the green tribe (I haven't seen a mention of this clip anywhere else, but maybe they do end up losing/throwing the challenge to save the other Millennials).  Unless Vanua loses, a GenXer is likely going home.

Episode 8 is titled "I'm the Kingpin".

Jeff's teaser for next week.  I wonder if he's hinting at something with the 'existing alliances become difficult because you are adversaries'.

Okay, merge time next week! Tease us up, sir.
The merge never fails to flip the game because now you’re in the individual portion and every single player can see Day 39. Existing alliances now become much more difficult to trust because you are no longer aligned, you are adversaries. This is why big moves are often made and old alliances are often burned. And ultimately this is why Survivor is so difficult to play and so fun to watch!

Looks like they merge at Vanua beach.

Episode 9 is titled "I'm Still Throwing Punches.'

Someone on reddit noticed that this little message they got with the feast includes a little clue. Take the first letter of each word and you get:

"Mail brings advantage find it first"

Not sure. I don't think they have ever had 4 idols in the game at the same time but then again they always seem to have one hidden at the merge beach.  I have a feeling though it is going to be some other advantage.  I will be a little surprised if any of the players actually decipher this little clue.

First, despite the theme and tribe divisions, the only generation gap that existed was in Probst's mind.  Secondly, I'd love to think this is the end of hearing 'millennials do it this way and are moving things forward, what do you think about that GenX?' but I know it's too much to hope for.  Though blindsides are becoming overrated on this show (to me anyway), this vote might really be interesting.  I did see one of the press photos of Zeke sitting with Jay/Will/Taylor/Michelle, so I wonder if they are trying to rope him in.

I think this merge will be interesting.  There's been some definite shifting of loyalty between the GenX and Millennials.  It will be interesting if those stay in place, or if everyone will pop back to where they started.  I think Zeke will be in a good position.  He seems cagey enough to straddle both camps and pick a path forward.   Jessica and Ken will hopefully stay safe for a while now that the numbers are back.   David will have a breakdown trying to keep track of who he has a deal with, and who he has shown his idol to.

I think the vote could go one of several ways.  The two obvious choices are the others gang up on the outnumbered Jay/Will/Michelle/Taylor to break up the foursome, if they are obvious about their alliance.  They might get lucky if there's no vote split and Jay uses his idol, similar to Wentworth and her tiny crew getting rid of Savage.  The other obvious choice is that it becomes millennials vs genx, and genx gets picked off (though I don't know if that's going to happen).

Since we saw Hannah saying she was going after Jay, I'd throw her name out there.  We've barely seen anything of Hannah all season that hasn't been a panic attack or annoying her tribe mates.  Suddenly she's going to try and make a move?  Of course, if she's still tight with Michelle, Michelle may talk her out of going off on her own.  I'd be pretty shocked if Zeke and David go.  I think there's definitely more story there.  Adam could very well over strategize and talk his way out of the game.  Ken may been seen as a challenge threat, and he was already on the outs with Chris and Bret.  So was Jessica.  Where those 4 vote could be interesting.  At any rate, definitely the most excited I've been all season for an episode!

Sneak peek at the immunity challenge. One of my all time favorites though I preferred when they used to only hold up only one arm. This is the one where Parvati won twice including an epic long 6 hours and 57 minutes back in Micronesia (which could have gone on longer had the rest of the tribe not got Jason to step down)

(Michelle kind of looks like Parv here)

I LOVED when they did this challenge during Micronesia.  Amanda announcing to Jeff she was dropping out because she had to pee, Alexis prematurely dropping out for a cookie and glass of milk (which she didn't get), and Jason being told by everyone they wouldn't vote him out if he dropped out and gave get win to Parv (complete with everyone crossing their fingers behind their backs).  However, Jason was spared and we ended up getting an epic blindside.  Hope the same happens tomorrow.

So two more boots until jury.  Given that Tayls and Figgs got together over there he is one of the next to go.   We are not sure when Adam is called home.  Any other contenders for next boots?  And if Adam is not out before jury they will have to pull the last eliminated to fill the spot, I assume.  Is this correct?

Tease us up for next week, my man!
Now that we’re into the individual portion of the game, people start to play more aggressively. That can lead to great moves or massive blunders. And information, as always, is king.

Press photos and Jeff's teaser.

Preview for next week.  The ep title is "Still Throwin' Punches", and the following week (ep 10) is titled "Million Dollar Gamble".  Makes me wonder if we lose one of Jay/Taylor/Will this week, and some people in the majority alliance plan a flip the following week to whoever is left standing in that alliance.  Probst had compared Zeke to all these well known Survivor characters, so maybe we finally see that side of him, as he leads a flip?

  • Love 1

So Will telling everyone about Jay's idol is going to accomplish what exactly?  Just put a target on Will's back?  I have to think Jay will be smart enough to play his idol next week, even if he's assured he's safe (of course, people could spare him one vote, hoping he plays it for nothing, then take him out the next vote).  I wouldn't be totally surprised if Sunday's name ends up coming up as a possible person to vote off, unless she's deemed a good goat (she hasn't done much in this game).

Finally, hook us up with a tease for next week, Mr. Probst.
As close to a perfect episode as we get. Great stories, great structure, rivalries, and tons of emotion. This season is seriously cranking into high gear. It does not let down. And remember we have BACK-TO-BACK EPISODES next week and they both kick ass. So make sure DVR is set if you can’t watch live.

Jeff's teaser for next week.  I wonder if the rivalries are the former GenXers breaking apart.  Jay may get lucky, in that they think he's fine to keep around for awhile while they pick off some others.  http://www.ew.com/article/2016/11/17/survivor-jeff-probst-millennials-vs-gen-x-reward-steal
