Not going to be a fan of Rollins/Carisi.

I thought I was the only one. First she looks WAY older than him and with her constantly hooking up with cops, she seems like one of those badge bunnies. And I think she's a terrible actress. And where is baby daddy? I know he's playing cop in Gotham, but is that too far of a drive to New York??

Murphy is undercover somewhere in Europe.

I understand the function of the sex registry, but I don't understand why sex crimes are held above all others. Why should sexting teens be put on the registry for "distributing child porn", but not someone with 3 DUI charges? That's not a public risk as well? If I were a parent, I'd be more concerned with a guy who repeatedly gets behind the wheel of a car drunk being around my children than I would be about a guy who plead guilty to date rape.

I don't like Rollisi. I don't like Rollins at all, so I don't need yet another weekly update about her personal life and yet another colleague she's maybe hooking up with. We went 15 seasons without hearing a damn thing about Benson's personal life and never got the Benson/Stabler hookup because they were partners and was wrong, but suddenly Rollins has slept with every man in the precinct and no one cares? Is Fin next?

I just dislike when TV writers pair off all the main characters with each other. It's lazy and boring. And when it comes to workplace dramas, highly unrealistic. Day players are not that expensive. How often did Kathy appear during the Stabler years- 4 times a season? Maybe? At least bringing in a recurring character like Cassidy or Tucker made sense- someone in their world, but not necessarily in their office. I really don't want to see the musical chair romances on this show. That's the reason I stopped watching Greys Anatomy.

Oh and no matter what roles Michael Rappaport plays, he will always be Phoebe’s boyfriend Gary who shot a bird.

For me too. And he was a gray character then too.

Exactly. He said something like "I was drunk, it was just one waitress" Well what about her life? It could be just as ruined but we was supposed feel sorry about guy who drinks too much and "accidentally" raped somebody. Few weeks back we were lead to feel sorry about pedophile. I know nothing is black or white but it´s little weird.

Yeah, that line left a bad taste in my mouth. And then he whines about his life is tough now that he's a convicted sex offender. Well, tough cookies. The victim will never forget the trauma of her rape, so I am perfectly okay with the rapist continuing to feel lifelong aftereffects of his crime.

That being said, the Sex Offender Registry is in serious need of retooling. Should it have serial rapists on it? Yes. Should it have one-time rapists on it? Also yes. Should it have a guy who peed in a public park on it? No.

Two thoughts:

1. Maybe they are setting it up for Carisi with his newly minted law degree to be a public defender of SVU (and other) perps.

2. There are probably countless guys who have gotten drunk and raped women and never even been formally accused. They may now be CEOs, school teachers, judges, you name it. In this episode, Phoebe's bird-shooting boyfriend seems to be a lot closer to the guy who urinates in public than the guy who struggles to not be a violent pervert. The only thing that made me hesitate to be sympathetic towards him was that he felt more sorry for himself than the victim.

I love how the beginning had them all saying they were going to go check out the homeless shelter without mentioning that they all already KNEW Carisi was undercover there, and shouldn't have been surprised at all. After the cold open I was hoping it would be Carisi's evil twin instead. Except I guess they already did an episode where a guy's evil twin framed him for rape.

Anyone know what the recidivism rate for rape is as compared to murder?

I took Criminology and from what I understand when you get released from prison for murder you don't murder again.   I just Google'd "Murder recidivism America" and this was the first result.  (I also learned other things, like the statistics for murder go way up for 29 and 30 year old males, and then your potential to murder goes way down, to basically zero, over the rest of your life.  There are a lot of statistics and patterns for crime, and crime happens for reasons -- it's not random, or stranger danger.)

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/once-a-criminal-always-a-criminal/

Mullane said she was able to determine that 988 convicted murderers were released from prisons in California over a 20 year period. Out of those 988, she said 1 percent were arrested for new crimes, and 10 percent were arrested for violating parole. She found none of the 988 were rearrested for murder, and none went back to prison over the 20 year period she examined.

"That's the lowest recidivism rate. That's unheard of," Mullane said. "In 20 years, the chance of you being returned on another murder was zero."

When you Google recidivism rape America the rates are higher, but not super high.  This article mentions how our perceptions of rapists are affected by SVU.

Sort of new viewer here. Did we know that Finn had a gay son? If not, I loved how nonchalantly he mentioned his son and son-in-law to Liv.

yes we've met Ken a bunch of times, I believe (and correct if I'm wrong it's been a while) he was also a suspect/accessory during the Ludacris saga.  We've known he was gay since the beginning and i believe we've even met the fiance (though I don't believe they were engaged/married at the time).

I'm not much for slut shamming at all but if you want to go there then you have to call Liv a badge bunny as well cause she has had more badges than Amanda. Amanda - Amaro & Murphy. Liv - Cassidy, Eckerson & Tucker & whoever else I may be forgetting as I have very little interest in her or any one elses lovelife on this show.

We've seen Ken in 8 episodes. Alejandro was Ken's fiance at least back in S13 (episode 21 Learning Curve, Ken's last visit), now Alejandro wasn't mentioned by name but I sure hope they got through the ordeal in that episode! Really sad we had to wait until the end of S16 to even get a mention of them. Fin is so underused :(

I don't care for Liv at all and she definitely fits the bill. I just think they are forcing this Carisi and Rollins thing. I know baby daddy is undercover, but I wish they'd spend more time on that than her hitting on Carisi. But in the end, it's just a tv show and I try to ignore the Rollins parts because I just don't like her character at all.

I also hope they don't go all the way with the whole Rollisi thing. I want to see less of Rollins' love life and I want TPTB to look at the past and realize that their characters have always been more successful with the audience when we're not seeing their personal life all the time. There are plenty of other stories to tell with these characters. I don't want to see a squad room romance. Unless it's Fin and Carisi. I'd be OK with that. Hell I'd even be interested in seeing them adopt a special needs child...

I'd rather pair Carisi with Barba or a GF we occasionally see.

Rollisi has a nice friendship, let it stay that way.

I always thought Badge Bunnies were women who weren't Cops.

Generally speaking, yes. The key distinguishing feature of a badge bunny is that she pursues cops because they are cops, and is not at all discriminating.

So, not Rollins.

Aw, no Finn love? And sometimes we get Barba.

Yeah, u r right, my bad.

Finn  can make a lasting impression with just one line. And then we have Barba's socks...

I just couldn't get over Carisi's hair this episode. I almost didn't recongize him in his first scene, now I know why it's usually combed back with tons of gel.

I somehow missed a lot of episodes during the season, and so I caught up on a bunch over the weekend.  The one thing that bothered me in this ep (why it bothered me most, I have no idea) was that the initial rape victim when describing her attacker called him "average height" with nothing distinctive about his voice, and yet, we're still supposed to think it's Michael Rapaport for half the episode.  The guy is 6'3 with a thick Brooklyn accent; no one is going to describe him as "average height" and not be able to identify that voice.

Initially, when they were describing the circumstances of his rape conviction, I thought it was going to be more "they were both drunk and he couldn't remember if she consented" not what we actually got, which was "he was really drunk and she was an escort, but people make mistakes!" which was....an odd choice to say the least.  With the former, you could've had a better conversation about whether the sentencing fit the crime, if a rapist could be rehabilitated, how hard it can be to reintroduce yourself into society, etc, which is what I think they were going for.  Instead, he never even seemed to take responsibility for what he did, which wouldn't make me inclined to present him as the poster boy for rehabilitation like they were on the show.

But on the plus side, this featured so much Carisi...hot, hot Carisi.  Rollins, you have my blessing to climb that man like a TREE!
