K&J are not going to bring multiple candidates in because of the internet. They let the internet choose one candidate who 2/3 times has not made the team.  A lot of girls have to audition multiple times but because of the presence of social media we are just more aware of it. Schram posted about getting cut in auditions 3 times before making it to camp where she guess what got cut the first time. Even sainted Melissa didn't make it to TC her first time round. I think a lot of the girls started to take prep classes and stepped it up a bit. If a girl has been to finals multiple times and was say number 47 of out 45, perhaps this is the year that they rose just a few more spots to make the cut, K&J do nothing out of pure mercy.  I've actually never been more excited for a TC and I think its because I'm invested in these people as I've seen them before. I care more about them then say, Claire (or 90% of the MTT 10 rookies), who I forgot was even on the damn team.

Last night the boards seemed happy about the rookie candidates and now this morning not so much? LOL. I am in the minority here but  am a little confused by the intense hate for Amy (for unclear reasons... she seems annoying?) and the propping of Kelsey who went into a job interview not knowing the owner/GM of the organization in which she was trying to gain employment. The 50 yards thing is kinda silly seeing as she was just on the field but the the worst is being unprepared a second time on a beyond basic question. 

Rycroft is a joke on this show and all of her picks getting axed highlights that fact. Is Candice supposed to be her replacement? Enough with these "famous" mentors and bring in some rock star 4-5 yr alumni (not Cassie) who actually walked the talk.

Anywho, super fun chatting with everyone yesterday. One of the best days on these boards!!

You know, I'm right there with the ones here who thought  Amy was annoying last season, but I'm actually hopeful for her now. She's been through the process once, has been taking classes, polishing her appearance, and from everything I've seen she's giving it a good shot. Heck, if you can get on Kitty's radar in a good way, that has to say something.  I'm not a dancer, so I defer to the experienced dancers on this thread, but I have to say, even if her dancing is mediocre? That won't automatically get you booted from TC. The list of mediocre dancers that have made the squad over the last 10 yrs is too long to even mention, lol.

For the drama? I'm betting the pageant queen who poses in full makeup in front of a camera "snuggling' with her husband will be this years Colby. To me, that type of nonsense isn't about artistry or even real life; it screams look at me like she's auditioning for a p**no, or for the cover of a trashy romance novel. I wonder how Kelli will think it fits in with the wholesome girl next door image?

I agree that I am hoping for  success for Amy as some of us are underdogs, speaking as someone who was always chosen last for everything.  Some of us can change and I am certainly one that has.  Yes that person on top of her husband with over the top makeup does not project the image that is appropriate for DCC.  Do people not realize that you can think you look DCC but it takes a lot more than looks.  It takes dance, personality, the ability to communicate etc.  I think about that ditzy blonde who they would ask questions in TC and she would just look blank.  A risk person.  As someone who has been in higher ed for years, there are ones who we can pick right away as at risk students but what we love are ones who prove us wrong and go on to be very successful!

About Michelle Keys choreography of Hunter's solo.  Michelle did an outstanding job with Taylor's solo last year....so she knows how to do it with lots of technique built in to the solo.  maybe Hunter didn't have the technique so she created a solo around what she has in the way of  her talent.  Just a thought.

 

having watching Hunter is all the prep classes I really thought she was a player cause Michelle always had her upfront etc....maybe that was because she was paying her .

 

she should try out for the Cowboys r&b dancers....unless that is considered a come down from being a DMD.

I don't actually think Judy & Kelli let girls in because if the internet lol. Just making a joke since so many really supported candidates made it in.  I enjoyed the show a lot more before Twitter and Instagram.  Now girls are using the DCC hashtag and you know about them for months, YEARS, before they get TC.  I liked getting to know them through the show.  They seem so artificial now.

I agree whole hearted with you about Kelsey.  I fail to see why it is so sad that she didn't make it till now.  I don't think an interview alone would keep her out till now.  I will see if she can prove me wrong, but I wonder about her DCC dancing ability.

She likely has just improved..I don't think she'll be a drama queen.

I so agree as when I was looking at Amy's kicks at semi's they were low and if nothing else she should have learned that from last year and from watching the show that kicks are a deal breaker!

Loren's tryout for SG ( or what i saw of it) was funny. She just kind of flew across the stage and threw her arms up like a ballerina.  My mom, when she was little, always wanted to be a ballerina, so she would run across the living room and put her arms up b efore she hit the wall. It was kinda like that. I was ROFL when Loren tried out for it, and can still remember the judges giving her the "Thank you, Loren" It was clear that Loren wasn't serious about the tryout.

Agree with the not bringing girls in because of the Internet. Also, don't know how many girls they bring in just for drama. TCCs are going to be cut, because they bring in 44-46 TCCs usually, and the squad has averaged 35-36 members. So cutting people is its own drama.

I think the "meh" feeling some of us are experiencing is; first: viewer fatigue - we've watched this show for 10 seasons now. Some of the finals and TC drama is a bit been there, done that because we've seen girls in that same situation for 10 seasons now. A post referenced to some candidate being this year's Vivian, and we all know what she's talking about! lol  It helps to remember that while we've seen the situation before, most time its a first for the girl in it.

Second, the show doesn't vary because that's the way the auditions are; Kelli et al don't really try to "shake things up." There are preliminaries, those going to semis are announced by Phil bringing out the board. At semis they learn the combination and do the kick line, and so on through TC. The fan vote has been the only real attempt to change the audition dynamic to engage the viewer.

There are some forgettable DCCs - but then, since S1 there's always been DCCs that blend into the woodwork. Those girls that aren't really showcased. I look back at past seasons and always see girls that were never featured and who I can't remember seeing on the squad. (Less now because I've watched past seasons so many times! lol )  Anyway, I plan to enjoy this season and see if someone catches my eye like Brooke, Jordan, Brittany, Melissa, Ashley P, and KaShara to name a few. :)

If they decide to have a team of 34 again, thirteen TC candidates will be chosen. A team of 36 with fifteen TC candidates being chosen. Only eight vets with two or more years experience since the two year vets will only have one year under their belts with the thirteen or more TC candidates having no DCC performance experience at all before the new football season starts. Definitely a new rebuilding year.

I would love to know the votes for the one year girls because I would not be surprise if a few of them were the lower scoring vets besides Caila and Kat. The only one year vets I like are Holly, Amy L, and Robin.

Man, the S9 Rookie squad has taken a beating.

10 made the squad; Courtney retired and Ashley P and Breelan were cut after 1 season. That left 7. Then Mary, Loren and Veronica retire after 2 years and Caila gets cut! Man, the world was not kind to the Rookies of 2014.

That girl next door business was shot all to hell with the DCC bikini show. Tasha's photos, while cheesy, aren't even close to porn. You'd have a hard time convincing me her photos are trashier than say, publicly strutting a runway in a barely-there bikini with your butt hanging out and stiletto heeled boots that come up over the knee. Just saying.

 

I don't think Kelli will find Tasha's photo an embarrassment to the organization. Not even this one, which for some reason I find hilarious. The fact that this is her husband and she is a mom makes a huge difference.

Not for nothing but it is so interesting that his face is never showing in these "romantic" shots.

Agreed on Kat. After seeing her solo piece her cut makes a lot more sense. I know she dropped the ribbon after a bit but she was still all tricks and very little dance. After her struggle to make the time last year and seeing that solo I'm much less surprised than I was last night about her getting cut.

I feel bad for her because she seems like such a sweet girl but she probably earned that cut unfortunately.

Amy worked for an automotive assembly line manufacturing plant in Rockford IL before she moved to Dallas to really pursue DCC.

I admired Amy's drive to get into DCC. In S9 I didn't like her saying, "I want this more than anybody." Everybody wants it! That's why they work so hard!  Also, for S10, the crying kinda got on my nerves.

I thought the snippet of Hunters solo was good. Seemed like something they'd like in my opinion.  My money's on a bad interview or just a general dislike of her appearance (shortness, etc.) now that I've seen that video.  Of course, if she looked down at the floor the whole time like she did in her fan vote video it could have been that too.

I still feel so bad for Kat - today has got to be so rough for cut vets.

Still in shock that they took auto Amy - maybe they will cut her over the Snoop dog speaker grinding and she'll get mad at them?

I did not mind Amy in Season Nine, but last season she seemed to be desperate about making the team. I know her scenes were probably edited, but her words and actions came from her and not the camera. I am still "meh" about her, but I am willing to see if her dancing, kicks, and most importantly, her attitude has changed for her being able to be a good fit for the team.

I didn't think Hunter's solo was horrible but it definitely didn't scream DCC to me.

I agree bigskygirl I'm curious to see what happens with Amy in training camp. With her short legs and bad kicks she's got a HUGE challenge ahead of her. It's hard to get a feel for someone's personality in the audition rounds so I'll be invested in seeing what her attitude is like in training camp.

It's interesting to me that out of the 10 S9 rookies my 3 favorites are still with the organization. They are my 3 favorite cheerleaders now that Angela has retired.

And of the S10 rookies my favorites, KaShara and Robin made it back which thrills me. Especially since KaShara seemed on the weight bubble last year.

I definitely feel more invested this year because I've followed the audition process "live" and saw a lot of the social media stuff. I'll also be following training camp much closer before the show premieres. I think I'm going to enjoy S11 much more than I did S10.

Maybe she'll still be blathering on about that on her episodes of MTT? - like not knowing if she needs to schedule her wedding around football season or not?  Ugh - I just hope the producers spare us from her desperation and drama a little.

Madeline better not break into the waterworks everytime she gets a simple correction from Judy again this time either.  She really annoyed me last season w/ her overreaction to critiques that all dancers should be used to by her age.

I have a hunch that something was said to Caila at the interview which caused her to question whether she'd be invited back.  After all, it was after the interview that she posted all that "it's in his hands" crap on Twitter.  I wouldn't put it past Kelli to show her that photo of her in a bar at the interview and ask her to explain.  I'm also thinking that they'd have had to warn her at the calendar shoot that if she showed up at finals looking like that, she'd be sent home-- right???

Was out of town all day yesterday and trying to catch up on everything today. I am SO excited about Madeline and Kelsey! My two favorites and I really hope they make the team.  I think Madeline can do it if she holds her emotions together but Kelsey I really have no idea. I like her dancing in the IG videos she's posted and am hopeful.  We shall see!

I also am excited to see some girls like Whitney and Kelli Quinn finally make it and get a shot.  I think Yuko looks adorable and I've always like Emily Roslyn so happy about that too. Kyndall and Auto Amy I like well enough but they aren't my top favorites.  I'm glad to see they get a shot and I hope they do well! I know we were all worried Taylor was going to be a pain to watch last year and she ended up being great and not annoying. 

I thought that Brittany girl with the Jordan Baum hair was the cutest as well as Jacy Rae but hey, can't take 'em all. I admit I am pretty shocked Hunter didn't make it.  She is the best in the room in all the videos on IG but she really just might not be technical enough at this point.  I will be excited to see how strong she comes back next year.  I wonder if she will try for any other teams? She made a big deal about not going back to Mavs..wonder if she will regret that now lol 

Selina and Cersten are the two I would almost bet will make it on the team of the new TCs.  Cersten already seems to have the style down and is clearly trained.  Selina was good last year and now just seems like she has polished everything up. 

As for returning vets...I doubt they will cut any of them in TC unless they absolutely crap it up.  Claire and Simone may be more under the radar girls but they aren't terrible and I bet their beautiful pictures helped. I'm sad about Kat because I think she is one of the sweetest girls and was truly a favorite on the team but any videos I saw of her dancing with the DCC during the year she just didn't have the pop and power the others do.  She always kind of looked like she was floating through it.  I'm sure they were hoping she'd really improve by tryouts but what can you do? She is like 30 so I imagine though that she is going to be very mature about this and move on graciously.  Caila...no idea.  I wish i felt bad about her getting cut but I don't.  She was doing so great all year then since like end of March she almost seemed to self-destruct. She saw what happened to Breelan getting lazy about her weight and Ashley P not working hard enough on her dance.  And to go partying under age...if that is what she really wants to do, now she can.  You have to make some sacrifices as a DCC.  I wish her well though.
