idk how to explain it, but for me what I react to is when there's a huge change in mood.  Sometimes I feel that joe is just trolling and being ridiculous! joe! and it's silly but also hilarious, and I actually really enjoy that. Like the news grind thing, I found that funny. i laughed at Joe and Willie's lame-ass nobel prize joke, they found a lab assistant from dunkin donuts! they put mentos in a coke bottle! etc

I know i'm a lil snowflake and i react to moods and colors and stuff and it's weird, but what's most uncomfortable to me is when he shifts into dark and angry and passive aggressive, and it's so so noticeable when it happens, and I just can't with that because i actually have to go to work after and be a functional cheerful human 🥴

Joe made me laugh with his rant about Beijing having parades with flags of Chairman Mao, Deng Xiaoping, Mitch McConnell & Ted Cruz. Joe blames Republicans for the stock market collapse. It was vintage Joe with his navy blue rant sweater during the Trump administration. Joe mocked Trump for falling out of the Forbes top 400 & claiming losses on his tax return.

It's no wonder that the show has lost 50% of it viewers since January.

I am kind of fascinated by the attendance of The Twins' on their own show.  Joe is here for a rant; then he is gone. Meeka is looking at the camera and reading the teleprompter; then Joe is back with another rant.  Next day Joe is gone.  I could kick myself for not keeping track of who has the "day off" ..... 

I think neither Twin wants us to know ahead of time if one or the other is off; afraid we will not tune in. Guess what!  Thanks to Oakville we know you are losing viewers.  But you are still beating CNN, so your jobs are safe.

That she allows her husband and work partner to act this way shows that she really doesn't give a crap about all the equal value /worth nonsense she spews. It has always been a sham operation.  I noticed that someone in the "comments" section of the ratings decline article called them "lazy"  - okay.... which one of us was it?  Because we call them that all the time. 😊

At the 8:00 rerun……MJ: 6 talking head squares.  CNN: 0. There was the CNN host (John Berman?) talking to a guy in person; granted, the next interview was with a USA Today reporter via Zoom or whatever. But the host seemed to be in a studio so there is a good chance at least one segment will be in person. Oh, and I don’t think it is a rerun. 😎

I could be misspeaking - since I never returned to MJ, there could have been a guest on set. In studio.  Set! Studio! I kid.  It is sad that I enjoy being such a bitch so early in the day; nothing to talk about for Happy Hour.

The show began with a SNL skit of Dianne Feinstein complaining about Facebook.

Mika & Joe are in the bunker with special guests Jonathan Lemire & Katty Kay. Katty is wearing glasses to show gravitas & one of Mika's red wrap dresses.

Mika warned Joe he couldn't talk about the Red Sox until the end of the block.

Joe is wearing his navy blue sweater which he uses for rants.

First topic is Biden will not allow executive privilege for Trumps documents during the January 6th insurrection.

Mika is struggling with the TelePrompter.

Mika made fun of Trump for asserting executive privilege.

Betsy Swan  who is married to the notorious  Jonathan Swan who had a wild interview with Trump  & Palm Beach Attorney DaveAronberg  who couldn't convict the NE Patriots owner of soliciting prostitutes despite having tapes. 

Joe called Kevin Mccarthy stupid.

Betsy doesn't have any cake in her kitchen, so this is deeply dissapointing.

The show played the clip of Scalise  saying some states didn't follow the rules for the 2020 election & it may have been rigged.

I'm on break bc Friday morning was so damn exhausting, but I was curious about this so now i'm watching yesterday's show this morning (hoping the world didn't end in the last 24 hrs 🥴)...and it's actually really enjoyable? they're all punchy and messing around but also transitioning well in the serious stuff and treating it w urgency but w out the godawful shouting, idk it works. And they're covering a lot of topics, not just you-know-who and the resurrected roadshow (siiiiiiigh)

*I have no idea if the crumbs were from an actual hot pocket but Joe pouted about the report on reducing salt so I'm going with the breakfast pocket.

Tuned in for the last part of the show to see Stevie Van Zandt being interviewed in the New York studio by Barnicle and Willy.  Joe interviewed him remotely from the Florida bunker.  This would not be a wonder to me if I did not know what a fan Joe is - being a musician himself and all. 😁 I don't know if Van Zandt has a hearing problem  (an issue with a lot of older musicians) or that there was something wrong with the feed from Florida but he had to hold his finger up to his ear to converse.  Or maybe this is a common thing?  The whole segment of Joe asking questions remotely was awkward.

It is just that I am surprised that Joe could not make the trip to the studio for a music legend. You would think he would be excited/enthused about it. Enough to get him out of Florida for a day or two.

this is a great description lmao. It was pretty funny.

the lead up was basically, they were doing a story about San Francisco stores having to close due to shoplifting and organized crime. Mika said she'd noticed a lot of stores having to lock up their toothpaste etc. She said she felt sorry for the people who need to steal toothpaste.

joe then yelled at Mika that all! crimes! must! be punished and they shoulda sent that little delinquent oliver twist to the gallows etc etc. Then he started ranting about criminals robbing stores at gunpoint and stealing several racks of Lulu Lemons.

.....tbh i'm not sure if this Lulu Lemon thing was a real news story or just some crazy shit that happened in Florida? it was confusing.

it was a weird exchange but then they got back from break and Joe was kinda sorta apologetic. and then they got into that discussion about Joe's depressing covid-sweater etc etc

I'm still on wednesday but i thought it was a good show! It was Barnicle's birthday! he looked cute, in his best suit, I was gonna say his birthday suit, but that sounds wrong.

i think the baseball! talk! is funny buuuuut also can someone explain why one team is like Hitler and the other like Stalin, or something, and why Willie's soul is leaving his body through his nostrils, I...whaaaa? (also, we all know Willie's soul is already trapped in that hellscape by the witches, Little Erica-style)

The last half hour was devoted to William Shatner's space odyssey. I'm with Mika, the shape of that rocket is...ummm.....at least it's so symbolic of the whole endeavor it's almost poetic, heh

I just caught up on today's show, and it's like, no whyyyyyy, when yesterday was so so so *good*? it was so crazy and interesting and weird and wonderful and then today....gaah what even is this?

We *finally* got to see our queen Elise Jordan again....but did we get to *see* Elise Jordan??

No, no, we didn't.

Instead of her hilarious smirk, irreverent side-eye and badass trademark Elise! eyebrow!, while she was talking we got slides upon slides upon endless infernal close-up neck-breathing pore-exposing soul-destroying slides of the orange you-know-who, blocking out Elise, for unknown reasons! Because, at least visually speaking, elections don't matter.

like I get the looming constitutional danger and all but aren't there ways of conveying that urgency that don't involve a constant visual assault on light and beauty and variety and humanity. excuse the art girl snowflake outburst 🥴maybe there's some internal tee-vee logic to all this that I'll never understand

The show started with baseball talk. Joe convinced Willie to support the Red Sox.

Joe said the manager of the Red Sox called him to thank him for his support of the team during the season. Cora said many players on the Red Sox watch Morning Joe before the games to get motivated.

Joe complained about people reading too much about misinformation about vaccines on Facebook.

Joe said some of his friends call him to ask whether or not kids can get Covid after reading conspiracy theories on Facebook.

Joe has some strange friends.

Joe told his friends that they got all Polio vaccines.

Joe blasted his arch enemy Gov DeSantis for being a socialist when it comes to vaccine mandates. Joe said businesses want healthy workers. Joe blamed Facebook for allowing conspiracies.

At 6 32 am, Mika struggled to read the report on shoplifting in San Francisco. She shouted 5 .

She mispronounced crime & called it cline.

Walgreens blame organized crime.

Joe said there are gangs stealing Lululemon yoga pants.

Glaude said there people that are desperate due to Covid but admitted there are also gangs stealing from pharmacies.

Joe complained about homeless people sleeping on the Streets of San Francisco. He wished that Karl Malden & Mike Douglas were back on patrol

I am not clear on how Gov Desantis’ views on vaccine mandates are socialist.

You can be sneakily snarky (as was Mr. Kemper), a sage, and a fellow hockey fan.  I can honestly say it is difficult for me not to put a 😂 emoji instead of a ❤️ for any post of yours that is a descriptor of the show. It sometimes seems like the show is either performance art, a newsy Animal House, a low-rent ESPN, or auditions for The Muppets. Joe would be one of the cranky old men in the balcony.

I did not see the 6:00 hour; tuned in at 7. Willie did intros of all the talking heads; but I haven’t seen or heard The Twins. Is this another 4-day week for them? If they are they there I will have to eat my words. Or is there a family emergency? If so, I apologize. Maybe Joe has managed to negotiate the same kind of contract that Rachel Maddow will have - scaling back the work week.  

Tell me I didn’t just hear Mike Barnicle criticizing Congress (or maybe he was criticizing the Jan.6 committee) about working one week and taking two weeks off. The irony.

I wish I had more time to do regular recaps. It`s hard to take Mika & Joe seriously anymore. I had to turn off the hockey game between Montreal & Buffalo due to Montreal giving up 5 goals to the lowly Sabres. I turned on Morning Joe & laughed when Joe complained about Mika breaking the Fourth Wall by placing her hand through the screen to clean his sweater.

Joe keeps calling De Santis socialist because he is not allowing companies to impose vaccine mandates on their workers or customers. Joe believes businesses should be allowed to decide their own covid policies.

Well,  DeSantis (how DOES one spell his name?) sounds more like a Venture Capitalist than anything else.  Seriously, though...was any reason given for no Twins today?  I don't really mind all that much if they are absent (other than the annoyance that they are so overpaid and lazy) but I am sick-to-death of the usual reporters ... their faces, their platitudes, the staleness of it all.  Even Heilemann at times.

Today, CNN had a discussion on Paul McCartney's apparent 'dis" of The Rolling Stones.  Michael Smerconish (who I can take in small doses) was on with the hosts to dissect who is the Best Rock Band ever - The Beatles or the Rolling Stones.  Now this is a discussion re pop culture/music that is not ego-driven.  Meeka would have been lost and clueless; Joe would pontificate.  Instead, the CNN hosts/reporters had fun with each other and everyone had equal time.  Also - CNN seems to have different guests/analysts/reporters on to give input.  Not Lemire, Barnicle, Eugene, the pompous guy...whose name I cannot remember and a few others. Every blasted day.  (actually, pompous could describe so many people who pop up on MJ continuously)

Well, I think it's official.  Joe & Mika haven't worked a full week since approximately last spring.  They're down to a 4-day work week of 3 hours a day. Did Joe have a baseball game to fly to and what the hell is Mika doing?  I don't begrudge anyone taking vacation, but when the time off seems to exceed your time at your job, it's a problem.  As it is, Joe seems to devote more time on his days off to his podcast.  If it were up to me, I'd give them an ultimatum or fire their asses.

There was a feedback issue during SVZ's interview. Maybe Joe didn't show in person bc Steve turned down a podcast interview?

Willie as usual moved the show along at a pretty good clip today. I wanted to hear more about Farah Stockman's book but work kept interrupting.

I wish Edie Falco got a little more time, too. I like all the actresses in her new play - would have loved to see it if I still lived in he area. I did feel for her a bit when she had to talk up her role in ACS - bc she's not really in it. At all. Katty mentioned (much like Mika did several weeks ago) that ACS is so interesting bc it's all from the women's perspective, but the only woman who production actually worked with was Lewinsky.

Kasie had a tumor! But she's gonna be ok!

The show began with a speech from the late General Colin Powell. Powell supported the USA & that it was the last best hope for the World. Mika said there were racial tensions at Howard University in 1994.

Mika is wearing a dark sweater in mourning for the General. Joe is wearing his navy blue covid sweater.

Special guests are Elise " I have almost as many book cases as David Ignatius" Jordan & David " I can't afford a comb " Ignatius. Eugene " I am in the dark" Washington.

Trump is filing a lawsuit to keep his records hidden.

I am waiting for Mika to finish to see if Joe will have a rant againt Trump.

Joe called it a con job by Bannon. He doesn't have executive privilege. 

Joe used to refer to Bannon as President Bannon in order to annoy Trump, so maybe Bannon could use Joe's description of him as the real President behind Trump  as a defense.

I doubt Joe would support firing Nick Saban in Alabama if he didn't get a vaccine.

Andrea Mitchell had a report on Colin Powell.

Joe said his friends and family still email him with conspiracy theories from Facebook but everyone liked Colin Powell despite the UN speech about WMD's in Iraq.

Joe said his sources in the Saddam Hussein administration  told him that there was no WMD's & Joe passed on the information  to Colin Powell but Powell didn't believe him. Powell later apologized to Joe for not believing him.

Drucker has a new book on President Trump.

How many trees were killed for all these Trump books ?

Drucker said Republicans did well on down ballot races but Trump lost. Other Republicans want to run for President.

Joe said Trump went out of his way to lose 2 Georgia Senate races. Trump endorsed Stacy Abrams for Governor.

Drucker said VP Pence wanted a paper trail so future Presidents wouldn't use the VP to thrown the election to Congress.

Drucker said that Trump won't run in 2024 if Biden or his successors are strong.

Joe was absent from this discussion with  Drucker but he will appear on Joe's podcast.

This is hilarious because Joe get paid to interview these people on his TV show, but he decides to save it for the podcast.

Mika asked Joe about Mar a Largo. Joe said Trump likes being kingmaker & playing golf.

At 7 02 am, Joe brought Lemire on to talk about the great Red Sox victory lat night. He made fun of Willie for being a Yankees fan.

Poor Eugene sat stone faced in a box by himself . He is a Nationals fan.

Willie said if you love life, you love the Red Sox. He thought Joe had a head injury for not talking about the Red Sox earlier in the show.

I enjoyed the interview of Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.  She said that she argued with Colin Powell over sending troops to Bosnia. Powell wrote in his memoir that she gave him an aneurysm.

I'm guessing that's probably because it happens all the time, not just in Haiti but a lot of other places as well - and the more publicity it gets, the more widespread the practice becomes. it's a pervasive thing with kidnappings, computer hacking, art theft - the publicity element reinforces the problem so usually the ransoms are just paid super quietly and everyone pretends nothing happened.. 🥴

Joe is happy that Democrat are debating policies over government spending as opposed to what was happening during the Trump administration where there was chaos every day.

Joe said that when he was in Congress, Democrats would beg him to support "riders" on the budget that would allow pork barrel projects in their districts. Joe bragged that he routinely pushed back on their spending proposals so that the budget would get balanced.

Joe made it sound that he was the most powerful member of the GOP caucus from 1994-2001, which is odd because I followed US politics at the time & never heard of him.

Mika prefers Restoration Hardware which is more upscale than Pottery Barn.

I didn't like the black wrap that she was wearing today.

Thanks neona2 ! I find the show to be very amusing these days. It would be more fun to watch when they are all together in  a studio. I do like having a glass or 2 of Sauvignon Blanc while doing recaps in the afternoon or evening.
