Wednesday Recap.

The show started with clips of former Presidents, Ford, Reagan & Bush greeting the candidates at the White House that defeated them in elections.

Everyone was happy that the Presidents showed in the visits & were friendly to the incoming Preidents.

Joe started to use his "dumb country lawyer" accent and started talking about defending criminal on death row in rural Alabama.

Mika asked Joe to stop. Mika started laughing at Joe.  Joe doesn't understand what Trump is doing. He is trailing in several states.

Joe wants the GOP to focus on winning the 2 Senate seats in Georgia.

Kasie said that support for the GOP drops off when Trump is off the ballot.

Kasie said that Georgia is trending Democratic. Stacey Abrams has an excellent GOTV operation.

Joe said the White House staffers are looking for work but Trump threatened to fire them. They need to find work after Jan 20th.

Joe said he could lose valuable staff for the 2024 campaign.

Kasie Hunt said that AOC & Doug Jones agree on building campaign apparatus.

Jason said Democrats have to stop investing in celebrity candidates. They need candidates that know every street in their district. It's not about Amy McGrath & stopping Mitch McConnell.

Joe reminded viewers that parties don't own the White House & the GOP could win the White House again, so they should be nice during the transition.

It's funny to see Joe changing his talking points after the election. For the past 3 years , Joe has been telling viewers that Trump would doom the GOP for  a generation & the anyone Republican associated with him would be ostracized.

Now, Joe says that Democrats have to be worried because the GOP Senators that he said would lose won re election & they gained seats in the House.

Joe agreed to return to the show at 8:30 am. He interviewed authors of books on President Adams. Joe called President Adams a hothead.

There will be several more interviews of author of books about former Presidents until Joe's soon to be nominated for a Pulitzer Prize book on Harry Truman.

All the bizarro shenanigans they were discussing on Morning Joe  today sorta reminded me of the German movie "Goodbye, Lenin"... where this German mom in 1990 wakes up from a coma and her kids have to pretend the Berlin Wall/communist collapse of 1989 never happened, to prevent her from having a heart attack....lmao...it's...on point. Check it out.

Cult movies aside...i’m a little disappointed, i kinda thought that after DJT they would bring the normal Morning Joe back?....why are they still acting boring and depressed? How long is it gonna last? I’m so tired tbh i just want normal life back and my fun quirky morning show back so my family can start the day feeling energized and hopeful again…. siiiiiigh.....

It's never coming back. Joe has always been a gas bag but the recent era provided him with a soap box he will never willingly relinquish. His ego has groan grown to the point that there is no stopping him now, or ever.

We will never laugh again.

Listening to Meeka this morning saying "Tata" numerous times just made my entire day.

Suomi...those pictures, especially the last one with all the leg.  And the blondeness.  Joe's eyes were beady back then but not as beady as they seem now.  He was not quite as full of himself back then; a bit more of what we may have thought was genuine.  He was new to a morning show; his true ego was not as much on display.  He got to marry his fantasy...The Prom Queen; she validates him.  They need one another.  I have a feeling that they will be moving to Peacock; Joe will make it the number one show.  Anywhere.

I loved Goodbye, Lenin. A friend of mine from East Germany recommended it.

I do think Morning Joe would have to return to having guests in studio again that are able to disagree with Mika & Joe to regain some of its early charm.

The network has yet to agree to build a large studio in Jupiter Florida that could replicate the one at 30 Rock in NYC.

I agree with both of you. The move to Florida was the beginning of the end. The remote location removed the spontaneity and banter Joe, Mika and Willie had between each other and the guests. And then Joe figured out he could just refuse to recognize people and engage in fifteen minute rants. Then Mika discovered that she could cry read for a segment.

It's a totally different show. And I agree, the one we liked will not be returning.

I think it is strange that Joe disappears for several segments during the show. I think it's rude for him to ignore the guests they have on the show.

Willie interviewed Claire McCaskill live from her kitchen.

Claire was yelling about the damage that Trump is doing by not conceding yet.  Her eyes got super wide and she was practically screeching.   Seems like she's been studying Mika's rants for tips on TV demeanor.  The screeching is not helpful or informative and comes off crazy.  Claire also needs to ditch those huge glasses.

Mike Barnacle, who was fired from the Boston Globe for fabricating stories, is there to talk about credibility and character.   You know Halperin is kicking himself for signing with another network.  If he had just hung out, he could have had Meacham's spot.

sooo is David Ignatius coming back, or? did he come back? it kinda seemed important...!

I like Claire McCaskill, tbh. and her glasses, and her kitchen...mostly because i think her ranting comes from being genuinely shocked and outraged at the fuckery of her former Senate colleagues. It's straight from the gut, not pretentious ranting like Joe does...but YMMV.

The sad thing is I think Joe is actually a good conversationalist, when he pulls his act together.. he's been doing great with the Tom Ricks segments. and he can be genuinely funny and affable. it's like this shitty format just brings out his worst self-indulgent bombastic side.

Mika was upset that more foreign leaders congratulated President elect Biden than sitting Republican Senators.

Joe said people are texting him saying they are worried about Trump.

Joe said that Trump campaign lawyers are scamming . They have to say under oath about election fraud. They say no, so the cases are dismissed.

Joe said that Arizona is over! Biden won.

Joe said that Biden's win in Georgia is impressive because he wasn't a son of the South.

Joe has reverted to old talking points that Biden's win was a landslide because he flipped states that Trump won.

Joe should admit that Biden's margins are lower than the polls predicted.

Joe used his southern accent to make fun of Senator David Perdue's name. He purposely mispronounced it and called him Pardue, Pardie etc.

This is ridiculous, since Joe has pronounced his name correctly in the past. The Perdue name is common in Georgia politics.

Joe said that Demography is Destiny and that Georgia & Texas will turn Blue.

Joe then said that people in the suburbs will flee the Democratic party and once they are gone they won't come back. He should have said the they would flee the Republican party. Willie & Mika did not correct him.

Mika took a shot a Facebook & Fox News for continuing to support Trump.

Mika made fun of her former BFF Ivanka Trump for celebrating that Trump won Alaska.

Joe called people stupid for thinking that Dr Fauci is part of a conspiracy. He told them to stay away from blenders.

Joe is very angry today. Joe used his Southern accent to make fun of people who thought the Coronavirus would disappear after the election.

Where does Joe find all these friends with Southern accents that come up to him with these claims ?

Possibly to remind viewers of Perdue's public degradation of VP Elect Harris' first name during the campaign last month.

Joe left the show from 6 30 am during the interesting interview of Ignatious. His feed was cut off.

There was a discussion of Trump selling state secrets to raise money. It is called espionage. Mika said that Trump can't keep a secret.

so when he does that he is insulting people from the South. How is that different from Trumps making fun of the disabled reporter.  Joe is getting so repetitive and not creative in his presentations.

This is what happens when there are no serious show runners in the room/studio. It's a damn free for all. It's been said that the old show will not be back and I believe that to be true. Those two have been on their own too long to revert to proper behavior. (Plus, who would feed the animals breakfast if they were cooped up in a studio?)

Totally agree. Nothing like taking the low road, Joe. You, and your complicit wife, who have embraced the party of "inclusion"...and the party of "healing" and yet you continue with this divisive talk. That Ms Valuable allows this shows her total lack of self awareness and empathy.

Sadly, those glasses are popular among women of a certain age; the younger women can pull it off really well.  Two of my friends have them; when Facetiming, their eyes just pop.  And not in a good way.  I think it's the fact that they are the ... what do you call the bifocals without lines? Those of us whose faces have shrunk with age can get dwarfed with those big frames.  But I am checking them out for my new glasses.  Go figure.

I see where CNN's daytime ratings have been really good.  Are they better than MSNBC's?  Joe is King of all Networks so I am sure MJ beats CNN in the 6-9 slot.  Like others have said, I do miss the "old" MJ when they were in New York.  The show had vitality and a pulse.  Joe could be funny without being obnoxious; at least some of the time.  I remember the day when that "furry" subject took over the segment.  And yes, watching The Twins (they weren't The Twins yet back then) break up was truly fun to watch.

Mika was happy that Pastor Jeffress acknowledged that Biden won the election.

Leibovitch is worried about Trump running in 2024.

Trump could retain control of the party throughout the period.

Joe has been absent since 6:30 am. Does he have a medical appointment ?

The Reverend Raphael Wernock ads are hilarious. He hates puppies & eats Pizza with a fork & knife.

He does like puppies. Mika approves.

Warnock said he is not an anti semite. He is almost as familiar with religious scripture as Joe Scarborough.

His parents had 12 kids. They took the scripture seriously & were fruitful and multiplied. He has a good sense of humor.

He chose this format, it wasn't foisted on him. This is how he prefers to present himself. The show, after all, is called Morming Joe.

What we see is what he is. He used to hide it better.

Are many of us dreading the date the Truman book comes out?  I love Thomas Ricks but (just my opinion) ... Joe keeps having him on so he can tee him up for long segments on the Truman historical discussion?  That is why he has been holding forth during the 8:30 book discussions that he usually leaves to Meeka.

Wonder if he will appear with Rachel and Brian W for the book tour. Throw in Chris Hayes and Lawrence O’Donnell. If so, I will sit back with the popcorn.

i wonder if he realizes how aggressive he comes across tho...sometimes what i think he means to be outrage at the state of affairs comes across as...sort of contempt, directed at the audience..? if that's how you accidentally come across why would you not want a co-host by your side or idk a sort of...milder format, where you engage with other people, rather than stare down your just-woken-up audience. tbh i think he has a temper, but i don't think he is a bad guy, like he has had moments of kindness and even empathy on this show. and like the clips show he really can be pretty funny

buuuuut it's not great for him or his ego to have this magical power where he can just wave his arm and have other people disappear from the screen like he's swiping left on tinder

Joe talked about reassessment of Truman's place in history !

What can Joe possibly offer on the subject of Harry Truman that David McCullough, an actual historian, and other writers haven't already said?  Even if I didn't have the McCullough book, Joe is such an intellectual lightweight that any book he might come up with purporting to define history would have no more gravitas than one of Bill O'Reilly's fluffy tomes.  Maybe "Truman for Dummies?"

Do you think the Mrs. will tag along? She dragged Joe along on all of HER appearances shilling her crap...because the audience needed to be entertained and she's no entertainer...Joe could easily handle it himself but then she's left out of the cool kids club and we know she feels entitled to be there (for no real reason).

I bet Joe is thrilled that Meacham is out: no more competition regarding who the smartest presidential historian on the panel is anymore. Joe will be the leading authority! (Cue Mika swooning.)

Interesting Kemper.  That makes sense.  I've seen Claire McCaskill three times in person, purely by happenstance.   She is a beautiful woman.  I saw her walking down the street twice when I lived in Maryland.  Five years ago, I was on a flight from National Airport to St. Louis.  When I got on the plane she was standing in the aisle, so I just went up to her and told her that it was an honor to meet her.  She was very gracious and shook my hand.

Joe is looking rough today.  He looks like he rolled out of bed right before the show, and he seems checked out.  A few times he has been caught on camera looking like he is confused or barely awake.

Joe said the AP called Arizona for Biden in 1976. It was early.
