That’s one of my all time favorite SVU episodes. I loved seeing Munch and Fin go upstate to track down the serial killer.

Damn, RIP Richard Belzer/Munch. He was an absolute legend. Munch was such a great character on both SVU and Homicide, one of tv’s most memorable detectives.  I really hope SVU pays tribute to him be

it depends on if there is a strike and how long it lasts. Since SVU will be done filming(or almost done) by the May 1st deadline it depends on if the strike lasts long enough to delay next season's premiere. Beyond shooting schedules, the issues are mostly about cable and streaming so it shouldn't greatly affect the budgets. And unfortunately I doubt that the WGA will be able to negotiate for minimum quality standards in scripting!

That was Manhunt. Cabot was awesome in that episode too. "Welcome home, Darryl." Just classic Munch.

Another time he talked about a little girl who lived across the street from him when he was a kid. She was always on her front porch and one day her mother killed her. Damn, that was a rough one.

Remorse and Legacy are the other two episodes you are talking about. Both are great episodes - Legacy was very sad but is one of my all time favorites, and the scene of Munch telling Benson about the girl from his childhood that was killed was very memorable and well done. And Remorse was a twisted case with some great stuff for Munch as well.

It's worse than a thought...It's not a two-parter, it's a three-parter! Pt 1 (this week) & 3 (next week) OC, part 2 SVU (next week). Skipping all 3 (I haven't even seen OC this season).

i remember treat williams playing a retired football player with dementia on l&o svu — heartbreaking performance.  beth chamberin (guiding light) played his wife. andre braugher was his defense attorney.

The episode was Spiraling Down from season 13, good episode with strong performances from Williams as the former football star and the always great Andre Braugher as Bayard Ellis defending him. Very sad ending with the football player committing suicide so his brain could be studied. One of the few cases on SVU where most of the people in the episode were sympathetic.

But I wonder what side she will take considering the actors are striking against the producers and executive producers.

I am confused. This correspondent seems to be saying that SVU has finished filming their next season already, so they will not be impacted by the strike. This cannot be true, is it?

Based on the clip, I think they meant the season that just wrapped was done filming.

Usually, new seasons start getting things set up this month and next for September premieres, so I think it will be quite some time before we see S25 of SVU or S4 of OC, not to mention other shows.

Schedules for fall by the networks seem to be a glut of reality, game shows, and such. Which makes sense, even if not exactly thrilling.

I seem to remember some 35 years ago, there was another actors strike or something like that. I also remember that ABC (I think?) made up some kind of circus programming. Circuses from all over the world were highlighted for a one or two hour special each week for a couple of months. I wonder if they will do that again.

Because what would have been the schedule under normal circumstances was discussed here, a tweet from Warren Leight from yesterday:

ETA: There's a follow-up tweet where he explains that normally the writer's room opens up 5 weeks before shooting begins and it could be shorter for a shorter season.

I suspect we'll get an appearance or two from Rollins along with two or three of Stabler - part of the plan to keep the Benson stans happy at any cost. I highly doubt Muncy gets replaced - the plan seems to be that instead of another regular we will fill the slot with recurring characters. I mean do you expect Dick Wolf to not buy a larger yacht? Or Mariska to take less up front salary? At least it is better than trying to go a whole season with 3 1/2 characters...

It just seems odd that they would only have 4 main characters to start the season. I wish they would bump Bruno up to opening credits - he’s the best new character since Carisi - a real breath of fresh air. I don’t know what the hell they are doing with Rollins.

I wonder if the studio or NBC has to redo all the contracts now with the actors, because I don't think they agreed on exact numbers, just a promise that actors will get a bigger piece of the pie now.

It won't be the first time that they have only had 4 main characters though. And it is definitely the way things are trending as this graphic reminds us -

And at least they seem to have a workable plan this time, with recurring cast in place who do not threaten Mariska's ego. Much better than just sticking Carisi in the surveillance van or interview room or having the Captain doing everything on her own.

As far as what they are doing with Rollins I am pretty sure they are going to keep trying to convince she is some sort of high powered forensic psychologist despite everything we have ever seen on screen for years and having her do a few guest spots a year. All part of the overall plan to keep muddling along on the current course until Mariska quits/dies/demands so much money NBC cancels the show or network television completely collapses.

hard to believe that andre braugher is gone — and that reading through all of the roles he played over 30 years, i just this minute remembered his turn on svu.

and beyond ironic that his character defended the brain-damaged football player portrayed by the late treat williams.

Yeah I was sad to hear about his death - he was a great actor. He was awesome as Pembleton on Homicide - probably the most memorable character on the show, along with Munch. He was strong as usual when he played Ellis on SVU, just a very compelling actor.

Not hard at all to believe you forgot. One of the worst crimes of later day SVU was utterly wasting Andre Braugher. I liked the idea and there were some good moments, but the writing was so often dull and Mariska was simply dreadful in just about all of her scenes with him. I mean it is hard not to have chemistry with Andre Braugher, but she managed. I mean when it comes to police shows on NBC in this decade, he had a better scene partner in a small dog than someone who thinks she should still be getting Emmy attention...

While I liked Bayard Ellis and thought they had some interesting storylines in his episodes, I agree that Mariska was flat and lifeless in her scenes with him for the most part. I don’t really feel like SVU wasted Braugher’s talent, but Mariska just drags the show and all of the other actors down and makes them side pieces to Benson melodrama much of the time. I’ve long said that Mariska is an overrated actress and she’s gotten noticeably worse over the years. She doesn’t have a spark with most of the actors she works with.

What's up with these good black actors appearing to die suddenly to us viewers. It always saddens me when I take their talent for granted and then they are suddenly gone. They need to run Brooklyn 99 episodes along with Homicide: Life on the Streets episodes. I felt the same way when Lance Reddick past away so suddenly.

Homicide was such a great show, and would’ve been better if NBC executives hadn’t meddled with it. Pembleton was probably my favorite along with Munch, but they had a strong cast of memorable detectives.

SVU should have also picked up Pembleton besides Munch as characters. But I guess they only have so much time for dialogue and most of it going to "you know who".

Not sure if the Braugher would’ve wanted to continue to play Pembleton, but it would’ve been nice to see him reprise the role at some point. 
Munch was underused on both shows to be honest. He got a decent amount of screentime at the start of Homicide, when he was partnered with Bolander, but they seemed to forgey about him in later seasons. And on SVU he again got good screen time in early seasons then they forgot about him and it became the Benson/Stabler show. Interesting enough when Stabler left Munch started getting more screen time in the episodes he was on until his retirement in season 15.

Agreed. They made them bring in the young, pretty cops. I liked Callie Thorne on there, but Jon Seda and especially Michael Michelle just brought nothing to the show. Pembleton and Bayliss were my favorites.

I do wish it was available on streaming somewhere--last I checked, old DVDs were the only option.

I just feel like there was so much potential that was wasted on trying to generate interest in his relationship with Benson and they never really rose to the challenge of writing a defense attorney who was also a good person respected by everyone involved. Adding him got me to watch during a period I had mostly checked out of the show, but it just never really clicked for me and I've enjoyed him more in just about everything else I've seen him in. To me making him try to elevate subpar dialogue with a useless scene partner over half of the time is a waste of his time and ours.

Don't get too excited---the article is just about how they are trying to stream it. Music rights is the big issue (as it is with a lot of old series (waiting on Chicago Hope, myself--streaming, DVD, whatever).

The promotional posters for the 3 L&O shows came out today - and of course SVU’s has only Benson on it! Just symbolizes what this show has become - a vehicle for MH to promote herself and boost her ego. They forget that other characters exist. OC has only Stabler on it - that’s at least more understandable given that it’s pretty much his spin-off but still it gets tiresome how the show loves to push everything regarding Benson/Stabler down our throats and seems to forget everyone else exists - I keep track of the shows postings on social media and it’s 90% Benson/Stabler. I wish they would remember these shows have more characters than just Benson/Stabler and that the focus is supposed to be on the cases, not on some grand love story between Benson/Stabler. The Mothership is all but forgotten about but maybe that’s a good thing - the revival has its flaws but at least it’s still case centric with minimal personal drama, which makes it a lot better than SVU/OC. And on the Mothership promo poster all 6 characters are featured. At least the Mothership is staying true to its format that makes it so good, while SVU has become a soapy shitshow where the universe revolves around St Olivia.

Ice-T has been busy of late in case you didn't notice. He has been doing commercials for a car repair insurance company with Vivica A Fox where it looks like they are trying to sweat out a confession from some perp. But yes, it sure seems like we will be getting the "Same Old, Same Old" again.

Wow! That’s terrible. I got to say, I think it takes a very strong person to not only survive and thrive, but to essentially spend their career in a role where you can’t completely get away from it. And to take on advocacy work as well.
