I do hope what you've just told me is actually what she really did say. I've heard some really ugly, hateful stuff today and this is not what I want my country to be now or ever. We need to work together for a better future for ourselves, our children and grandchildren. I did read that Scarlett Johannson said that she hoped her daughter had the same childhood privileges that Ivanka Trump had (paraphrasing). Isn't she the one who was just reported to be the highest paid actress in Hollywood or am I mistaken about that? Also her husband is a highly paid actor? My point is that I think we need to be paying attention to the single, poor moms and dads, the small business owners who are struggling, the folks who are trying to pay their pay-co's for their health insurance, etc. I don't give a rat's ass what any celebrity says or how they protest or march. They don't live in my world or most people's world on an every day basis. Why would anyone pay any attention to anything they say on any subject? Link to comment

If they do they are criticized from not knowing their place or role, being out of touch or atypical therefore irrelevant opinionators. Protesting and bitching about the establishment is what founded this country and is American af. I don't think working together for brighter future is good since not everyone agrees on what that is or how to get there or even give af about that; so it would be far fetched for it to happen, disingenuous, and require people to curb their feelings and views in order to not make waves & fall in line with the authorities agendas. Unfortunately, many of them are indeed far removed from the realities of "regular" life and should probably be seen and not heard. That said, I imagine Madonna will be getting contacted by Secret Service for a little chat because even if she was being hyperbolic, there's some things you don't say in a public place lest you incite the wackos. (And yet, how many movies have there been where the WH does indeed get destroyed by aliens, terrorists, freak weather events, etc.? Context is everything, it seems.) As far as Scarlett is concerned, boo effin hoo. Yeah, it's a problem that there's gender-based salary inequality in Hollywood but there's plenty of that to go around in places where people aren't making anywhere near upwards of seven figures for a single gig or over the course of their entire working life. (Plus, at this point, I see Madonna as a bandwagoning dilettante who's been desperately trying to remain relevant for at least a decade.) "We" and "our" may be a problem now, I sadly think. It seems to me that for the foreseeable future, those pronouns aren't much going to include women or POC*, except for those who'll be willingly used as tokens or worshipers. And heaven help the people from certain other countries or who practice certain religions. They've already been positioned to be demonized and scapegoated, en masse. LOL That's my exercise, too. They do that. Every morning we go out for anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour, then again in the evening, though not as long. We have the neighbor dog over every day, too, so she gets a lot of exercise. I know a lot of people in the nieghborhood because of those walks, though I remember their dogs names better than I do theirs. 6 Link to comment

Back when I was a kid you never saw people walking their dogs, the dogs just walked themselves. It wasn't unusual to see Scruffy Smith or Bongo Jones at your door or in your yard. When I'd take my dog down to the beach, by the time we got there I'd have a entourage of five or six dogs just along for the fun. Of course now dogs are not let out to roam the neighborhood and I totally get it. Ah. well it was a different time. 6 Link to comment
crosby777 January 23, 2017 Share January 23, 2017 We saw 8 dogs on our walk today.. It is a very social thing right now and we take him to a few of the off leash dog parks. So many wonderful dogs and people.. you only meet good people when dog walking.. so it seems LOL We usually do an hour to 2.. We have a walk here in NS called Cape Split and it is like a 4 hour walk.. we are planning that as soon as it is warm enough.. will show pics it is amazing. 6 Link to comment

My little chiweenie is welcomed just about everywhere, although I draw the line at bringing him inside a restaurant or clothes shopping. That's one thing I miss about working at MINI...service customers always had their dogs with them, from the teacup chihuahuas to a 6 month old 80 pound Great Dane (!) Since working at Acura, I can count on one hand the number of pets I've seen in the last nearly seven months....although one couple brought in their green macaw who liked me so much they found me the following week when they picked up their car so she could say hi! ?❤ 9 Link to comment

I was across from the deli and next to the elevators, you could see these downtrodden office drudges coming down from the upper floors. When my delivery guy would come in with his golden, they would light up like Christmas trees if they saw him. They would come in to the shop and be greeted by his beautiful laughing face and happily wagging tail and you could tell he just made their day. Petunia13 January 24, 2017 Share January 24, 2017 That was weird to post as a stand alone sentence but I said it randomly since emotional support/therapy dogs came up. He seems to like it and do well. I'm at work so only hear the feedback. His small size is compatible with holding on laps or hospital beds, and the blind patients like his fluffiness for petting and he licks their hands so they know he's appreciative, his visiting days are kinda an excuse/occasion for family visits to dying members so they don't feel worried or scared, it keeps him busy. 11 Link to comment

I brought him in mid-December after the threw up fearing another crop infection and they said nothing was wrong. But, he's been losing weight ever since. He went from 86 grams to 78 grams so I'm bring him in per the vet's suggestion. I just hope it's nothing too serious. 8 Link to comment

My Mom's retirement home had weekly dog visitors. The residents just loved it, even my mother who never was fond of any animals when we were younger. Yet her dementia changed her attitude completely. Early-mid January is hard for me, too. My niece, who was not much younger than I am, died around the 3rd a few years ago, and way back, when I was thirteen, my father died the same day. I dream too much at this time of the year--and I don't like dreaming. On a brighter note, I have four cats, qualifying me for "crazy cat lady," I guess. Two around sixteen, Smelvie and GirlCat, and two who are ten, Gertrude and Blanche. My brother had to move and wasn't allowed to bring his cat with him. I tried to find her a good home but ended up taking her myself. All of the local animal rescue agencies are overloaded at this time of year and I was not going to surrender her to a place that would euthanize her in a few weeks. She's 14 with deformed front feet. valleycliffe January 24, 2017 Share January 24, 2017 my daughters pug had 7 puppies about a month ago...her son posts videos of them on facebook..they are so cute and chubby and now are starting to TRY and run but they fall over...my heart just melts when i see them and have been thinking i may want one when they are able to be given to their forever homes... only problem with that is when hubby (he pointed this out to me) and i go for the weekend to the mainland and stay in hotels. i know some of them allow pets like the one we go to but then i wouldn't be able to go to the casino cause i would have to watch them...hubby typically goes to see his friend. go on a hike then to the bar so he wouldn't be able to take care of it either...guess we're just too selfish to have a puppy now..:( 3 Link to comment
