ok, had no idea Pete Davidson was dating Larry David's (hot) daughter.

I've followed Davidson for years on Instagram, and he was madly in love with this pink-haired girl, seemingly only recently. But I noticed a couple times Cazzie David showing up on his feed (she'd accompany her dad this season to each SNL taping he'd appear on.)

I never put two and two together. She'd appear on his Instragram feed a couple times, and he'd appear on hers a couple times.

They're the same age (22). And if they get married, she could become Cazzie David-son.

Yahoo's 10 best sketches of the season.

I mostly agree BUT I would've replaced the Space Pants and Tidal sketches with "Naked and Afraid: Celebrity Addition" and "The Day Beyonce Turned Black."  And actually, maybe taken out Brunch and put in "God is a Boob Man".  I'm actually legit shocked The Day Beyonce turned Black and the Adele thanksgiving sketch aren't on that list.

The one that really surprises me is Brunch with Chris Hemsworth.

I agree with them about "Meet Your Second Wife."  I love that sketch so much that it is flirting with "favorite sketch ever" territory for me.  It was off YouTube and the SNL app for awhile, but I ran into it yesterday on YouTube on the SNL channel and was so happy.

I also really enjoyed "Family Feud--Extended Family" (Keenan's Steve Harvey saying "Keep them off the pole" makes me laugh) and that "Golden Globes" sketch and wouldn't have minded seeing those on the list, as well as the aforementioned "God is a boob man."  Oh and Mercedes AA.  That was great.

Mr. Bunting has to go on there for sure, though.  The list has no credibility without it, and no, I don't give them a pass just because they published the list prior to the finale!

Archive of American Television.  http://www.emmytvlegends.org/interviews/people

I found this because I was looking up stuff on George Carlin after citing him in another thread here.  I don't know where to put this but I'd figure people who use this site would be interested in it.  His half hour interview by them, done towards the end of his life, is a gem.

We've got a Drake "Cut for Time" sketch.  I must admit, the premise is kind of dumb, but it made me laugh.

Leslie Jones  tweeted yesterday that she couldn't find a designer who wanted to dress her for the Ghostbusters premiere.  After she tweeted that, Christian Siriano volunteered (which, he seems to have corned the market on designing red carpet dresses for anyone not stick thin, so bless him).  Good for her for saying something.

Emmy nominations are in!  We've got:
Kate McKinnon for Best Supporting Actress
Tina & Amy, Melissa McCarthy, and Amy Schumer for Guest Actress (I've never actually seen anyone nominated like Tina and Amy are, where they're nominated together)
Tracy Morgan and Larry David for Guest Actor
Outstanding Variety Sketch Series

I do wonder if Kate could possibly snag the Emmy this year.  Early reviews say that she's the clear standout in Ghostbusters, and I wonder if that can give her a boost at the Emmys - similar to how Melissa McCarthy's turn in Bridesmaids help her take home the Best Actress Emmy.

I wonder if maybe they'd give it to Amy/Tina so that Amy could finally have her Emmy; kind of how Neil Patrick Harris finally got an Emmy for being on Glee after he kept losing the Best Supporting Actor Emmy (though, I absolutely think Amy's snubs are much more egregious; NPH is insanely overrated to me).  Which, who cares how the hell you get it - let's get those Emmys ladies!

This is obviously thinking (very) far in advance, but I wonder if Leslie continues to have a huge year, that next year we see Kate and Leslie nominated for Emmys.  I could definitely see that happening, and both women would be completely deserving.

It is strange how Amy and Tina were nominated as one. I don't really mind, but I wish it could have happened with Key & Peele as well.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that they were probably nominated together because they hosted together - similar to how two writers share a nomination if they are nominated for an episode of tv. I'm guessing there must be a rule that said they had to share the nomination because they hosted together, otherwise I bet they would've put themselves in separately.

Another poster posed this link in the movies "Race and Ethnicity" thread, but it deserves to be here as well: Leslie Jones has been on the receiving ends of some appallingly racist tweets since Ghostbusters came out, and today she got fed up and retweeted them https://www.buzzfeed.com/susancheng/love-for-leslie-jones?utm_term=.trVvLrdlA#.qaKBXZv6N

I knew I always like Leslie's comedy, but the way she's handled herself throughout the Ghostbusters press tour has impressed me so much. I love that she isn't afraid to use her platform to call out terrible behavior (these tweets, no one wanting to clothe her for the premiere, etc)

And now as a palate cleanser, here is a truly lovely video of her telling Whoopi Goldberg how important Whoopi was to her because it allowed Leslie to say "Someone that looks like me is on tv!" and made her believe that she could be a comedian on tv. And that she, in turn, hopes that a little girl can see her (Leslie) in Ghostbusters and believe, just like Leslie did, that she can be in movies. THAT right there is why an all female Ghostbusters is so important:

A week late on this, but this is absolutely heartbreaking. Matt Villines of "Matt & Oz" Passed away last week.

http://splitsider.com/2016/07/matt-villines-of-snls-matt-oz-passes-away-at-39/

Matt & Oz have been the directors behind some of the best Pre-taped sketches the show has done over the past few years. I felt like I was praising their work nearly every week this past season. I even commented that I figured they wouldn't be long for the show, likely having the opportunity to jump to features given their penchant for directing comedy. I had no idea about his bout with cancer though.

A great loss to us all.

"Saturday Night Live" cast members Colin Jost and Michael Che will be hosting special editions of "Weekend Update" on Wednesday, July 20 and Wednesday, July 27 at approximately midnight on MSNBC following the Republican and Democratic national conventions from Cleveland and Philadelphia, respectively.

In addition, on those same days, both Jost and Che will serve as special correspondents on NBC's morning news program "TODAY."

I was going to say her, but I was afraid if I said her name, she'd show up like Beatlejuice.

Heh.

I have to say this though, I seem to have this problem where I find myself really attracted to Kristen Wiig's movie characters. I went into Ghostbusters so excited to see Kate McKinnon. I wanted so badly for her to shine and for her to find the stardom she deserves, and she didn't let me down.

But then freaking Wiig got me again. The worst was Bridesmaids, where I swear I had like a level 5 crush on her when she was dancing at the end of the movie, but I really enjoyed her in Ghostbusters as well.  She's just really good.

(Oh and to be fair, I figured out why she appeals to me so much, and it has to do with the way she's pretty and funny on the outside but always plays the character with a sadness in her eyes drawn from some sort of loneliness or other pain. That shit hits me right between the eyes. It's the equivalent of how Robin Williams and Steve Martin often played their characters.)

She goes full frontal in Welcome to Me.

My jaw just about it the floor when Chris Matthews started explaining his theory on being African American to Che.  Just Wow.

As did mine.  And dare I say, while Che didn't make a big deal of it, I could tell he wasn't to thrilled about it either - just as Colin didn't seem to thrilled that Chris Matthews kept calling him a Republican (when Che did it, I don't think he cared as much since they're friends).  Though "I didn't expect this to be an intervention" was a pretty good line, as was "I don't know if you're trying to get us laid or killed".

We've got Colin & Michael on the Today Show at the DNC convention prior to the WU special tonight.  I'm going to dip into the shallow end of the pool for a second - Colin should wear those glasses more often.

ETA - I preface this by saying I have quite a few tattoos and am a huge supporter of body autonomy, but I wonder if Lorne is going to tell Pete to quit getting tattoos for a little while.  He's gone from a few on his arm to half-sleeves on both, and those are going to be a bitch to cover up - he's going to be stuck with long sleeves or a lot of time in the makeup chair, just because his are very distracting.  I am slightly befuddled that he started a half-sleeves on his forearms instead of his upper arms, which is the much more typical place to do it (and certainly would've been easier to hide).

Holy crap, that's one strong RX he's got going there. In one of the shots you can see the magnification thru the lenses. He does look good in them though.

SNL Vets Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah Not Returning for Season 42

Quote

Saturday Night Live will be down two veteran cast members when it returns with Season 42 this fall. TVLine has learned exclusively that Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah are leaving NBC’s late-night institution to pursue other opportunities. Both had been with the show for six seasons. An NBC spokesperson confirmed the departures.

  • Love 1

Wow, really?  That legitimately takes me by surprise. Those are two rough losses, since you're now down your best impressionist and one of your main utility guys. Taran's probably a bit easier to replace, but losing Jay is going to leave a big hole.

Wild speculation - I wonder if the political musical chairs with Taran last season factored into his decision to leave; specifically, I wonder if losing the Trump imitation frustrated him.

  • Love 2

Ahhhhhhhh, this sucks so hard. I'll miss Jay, but I'll REALLY miss Taran. He's always been one of my favorites. Guess this means we'll never see Jebidiah Atkiinson again...and the high school theatre sketches will never be the same. But it seems like he's got some great things on the horizon. So congrats to them both, and best of luck.

  • Love 5

Taran Killam says his contract wasn't picked up for the 7th season, which would have been next season. But he signed a 7-year deal.

He joined the show at the same time as Jay, so perhaps Jay was dropped, too. (Why would you dump your "Obama" with him still being president for a few months?)

I can't imagine why Jay would leave on his own because he depends on the show to maintain his national profile in the standup comedy world. Sure, he could do well on his own. But that national exposure is key. I mean, how much mileage can he get with his impressions elsewhere?
