Janelle Brown: Smarter Than Your Average Brown (Maybe)

Hotel and restaurant carpeting is dark in color and patterned all over for a reason, to hide the evil that lurks just below the surface.

Bad enough that Janelle chooses to be barefoot, but to subject a toddler to that is irresponsible.

Yada yada yada...

I thought it was a business trip, Janelle!

And I don't think she's been stomach hungry in years.

Janelle - it's called "cravings". Quit overanalyzing.

Also, the graphic she's using is bugging the shit out of me.

Glad to see that $6k health coach training is paying off.  That last Janelle post was even worse than usual.  Mr. Google is your friend.  Do some research before you post.  Ask a question and find the answer.  It's not that hard.  But every post is Its So Hard.  Poor, poor me.  We know you have the interwebz.  Maybe one of your kids can show how to use it.

Have some cheese with your whine.  The  boohooing is really getting old.

She packed a cooler on her last road trip, she showed it and everything! Why didn’t she do that this time? Would be cheaper, too.

She says she didn’t over indulge, but the food was different than what she usually eats. Again, bring your own, or go to a grocery store there.

She doesn't track her food or control her portions, at least she hasn't said a single thing about that. How does she know she didn't over indulge? Also, I haven't been to Disney in eons but I do remember reading articles on healthier food options available there.

Last time I was there one could eat ok but there is also a plethora of options in that area.  She could have had food delivered to her room, gone to a grocery store, done anything a normal person would do.

I had forgotten about Janelle’s cooking challenge, and she’s doing it again. She ended up drawing names of winners last time, because she just couldn’t decide.

Maybe Michelle (and Logan) should be in charge of Strive.

Michelle and Logan both are examples of a healthy diet and fitness program end result.  They would no doubt be excellent trainers, but not the target market for Strive, as it doesn't seem they have ever let themselves get to the point where losing weight or becoming fit was ever a challenge.

Janelle probably seemed like a good spokesperson/consultant for Strive as she already had somewhat of a social media presence and was an excellent candidate for a weight loss program.  Janelle has been involved with the program for maybe 2 years and any day now she will have assembled enough recipes and analyzed enough philosophies that she will be ready to implement her strategies and take her followers on her Strive Journey.

Cart before the horse, I would say.

There is no rhyme or reason to what she posts on the Strive Facebook page. There is no consistency for her to even know what would work for her.

To be fair, this is how she describes it:

As a IIN certified health coach, health coaching is available from someone who really gets it. True health coaching isn’t telling you what to do and how to do it, but to offer support, accountability and a listening ear, to help you achieve your wellness goals.

If she’s doing this, it isn’t through Facebook or twitter.

If she can manage to do all that and remain awake :)

Michelle and Logan care about what they eat, looks like.  Janelle makes a half-assed effort to do so, and then pfffft!  Implosion.

Most of Janelle's photos are weird/bad. I don't think she understands how to set up a shot.

I wonder if she thinks of herself as some cool blogger type with artistic photos.  Because, well, not.  They are just random shots that she can take without putting in much effort.

And going on the record that I hate, with the fire of a thousand suns, food bloggesr that require you to page down past 100 photos of some dish from every conceivable angle before you can get to the recipe. I am not a moron. I do not need three shots of pouring and adding a teaspoon of vanilla.

OK, beating a dead horse here, but by now Janelle should have figured out that she is NOT a "going to the gym" kind of gal, no matter how much she endures likes it. Her schedule just doesn't lend itself to a daily or even an every other day workout schedule. The last couple of towns I lived in were podunk and twenty minutes from gyms, but I needed to be in top shape for work. So I bought second hand workout equipment on CraigsList and frankly, got a better workout at home than I would have at a gym. Janelle needs to find a spinner and a treadmill, or a used Gold's Gym, plus some free weights to have at home. Then when she wakes up in the middle of the night with nothing better to do than take unimaginative  photos of her empty bed, she can workout.

I imagine Flagstaff will do her a world of good, if she utilizes the area instead of making excuses. I'd live there again if circumstances allowed, it's an outdoor wonderland; an oasis in stifling AZ. I mean, SNOW (of course I was there for snowpacalypse 2010).

Living in Vegas did not do any of them any good health-wise.

I don't get her post.  Is Janelle saying that food from Whole Foods prepped case isn't take-out?

Her logic is hard to follow, I assume (and hope) that she cleaned up the sweat and grime in the shower before venturing out to pick up the non-take out food.  She has an image to project as a lifestyle coach, so before venturing out in public she would need to arrange her hair, apply a dab of makeup, some soothing cream for that sunburn and sunscreen to prevent further damage.  She has to put on fresh clothes, find her purse and car keys, let whoever else is home know where she is going, drive to Whole Foods, find a parking space, make agonizing decisions at the prepped food case analyzing the merits of each item offered, taking into account the likes/dislikes for the family that will be sharing the meal, line up at the check out, back to car and drive home, unload car and set table, rounding up the troops for dinner.

If she was that exhausted from packing for the move or her busy life as a realtor, the logical thing to me would be to crack some eggs, put out some cheese and bacon or ham and announce "it's omelet night tonight", pull out some of the fresh veggies she makes us aware she always keeps on hand, make some toast with whole grain breads, throw out a fruit tray and she's done.

But. Janelle.  Everything has to be so damn complicated.

Edit to add:  WTH is going on with her two front teeth?

I cannot fathom feeding a family on groceries from Whole Foods.  I would go there as a special treat for myself and come away astounded at the prices.  And the prepped stuff is even higher!  Does she think it's healthier or has less calories or something?  Not always the case.

But they should know that one of the main things people want to know is how they can afford their lifestyle (second only to their sleeping arrangements).

Let me go on record as saying this is opposite in importance to me. I want to know who they are grifting to be able to afford this stuff way more than their sleeping arrangements.  The thought of any sentient female in bed with Kootie gives me the willies.

I think one of the things that annoys me about Janelle's posts is that there seems to be little/no recognition that EVERYONE has time challenges.  She's not the only person who has to figure out how to get everything done in a day.  It's called life.

How can anyone take her seriously? I don't like to question peoples' intelligence because people can be smart in different ways but many of her posts are just...............STUPID.

And yes, she complicates EVERYTHING. First, take-out is a complication. Why not just stay home as you suggested? If she doesn't want to cook, there's always sandwiches and fresh fruit like apples or bananas. Not complicated! And the Whole Foods prepped case isn't a form of take-out? That alone makes her look like an idiot. Just because it's Whole Foods doesn't mean it's a more healthful option. It might be organic, but not always healthful unless one is careful about what they're choosing (I love their veggie bar myself). Also, if she's got all these fresh veggies on hand and and she's getting take-out, she obviously isn't fond of eating them.

I forgot which poster saw her at the open house but they mentioned she looks the same as she did a couple years ago. Her posts are just ramblings of a woman who doesn't know what she's doing and doesn't appear to have a plan yet thinks she can have a business based on her "expertise" as a health coach. FAIL.

Looks like gingivitis to me.  I've seen braces on the kids, but it's like Janelle and Meri are dental-phobic.

Janelle does everything the hard way, and gives up before she has made progress.  Sheesh.

The best thing I did when I became a stay-at-home mom who lacked ANY homemaker skills (seriously, my husband jokes that he married a bachelor; my favorite meal is beer and a giant burrito) was buy a freezer. I always double anything I cook and just drop the extra in the freezer for those Janelle days when I don’t want to cook. You know what’s the simplest thing ever, simpler than even Whole Foods takeout? Defrosting soup in the crockpot and heating up a frozen baguette. I don’t even make salad some days—I’ll just throw greens in a bowl with some balsamic. YOU’RE WELCOME FAM. You know Janelle has a freezer. With that many kids, she has to, right? USE IT.

Janelle, I know lazy, and girl, you’re doing it wrong.

Hell it's just me, the cat and the dog and I freeze meals to eat later. I too bought a stand up freezer to freeze meals, juice, homemade stock, leftover veggies and carcasses for stock, meat on sale, tamales, homemade cookie dough, in-season fruit, etc. Everything is frozen in ready to use portions (baggies and silicone muffin tins are my go-to for portion control). My family calls me the Family Mormon. I am never hungry and I haven't been tempted to go to a fast food place in 10 years (and I eat crunchy too).

Which is a head scratcher. She doesn't work so what keeps her from spending ten minutes on her appearance?

I vowed that when I retired I would not go out of the house without at least some blush and lipstick and combed hair. I didn't want to drop my standards even when not working.  It only takes a few minutes to look presentable.

That question can pretty much apply to everything with Janelle. She doesn't work so what keeps her from spending ten minutes on her appearance? What keeps her from cooking? What keeps her from exercising? What does she do all day that keeps her from doing anything?

Janelle spends her 'daze' creating blogs to commiserate with her Strive subscribers about just how hard it is to become motivated enough to get off one's azz and actually DO something.

Nicer comment than I might have given.  One reason I'm not into social media :)

I wonder which kiddo fawning fan, was referring to?  Had to be Savanah.  I still think it was shitty of Maddie to not include her in her wedding party.

She needs a motivator? It's Flagstaff!! It's brisk and cool in the mornings (I'd need a jacket actually). If cool mountain air and trees aren't enough of a motivator to get her out the door, all hope is lost.

Dear Janelle:

The tomato, avocado and pea greens on whole wheat toast looks delicious, but until I can see some proven results from you, I'll get my nutritional advice elsewhere.

Truth. If only the everyone else could see this, Janelle included. If I could visualize her posts, it would be that of a blindfolded bear lumbering around, not sure what to make of anything. "Look what I've discovered that everyone else has known about!"

I didn't get it either XWord, when I googled, found it's from Far Side comic strip.  Relates to dogs (Ginger) not understanding your words, but respond to their name in a sentence as well as your tone of voice.  This forum is enlightening to me in more ways than I can say.
