Count me in as one that'll be with the family.  I might stop by, but it'll probably the last time I post until after the New Year's at the earliest.

Safe travels and enjoy time with family!  I have mixed feelings about football being played on Christmas, but since I'm stuck at home this year, I'll kick back and see what unfolds in the NFL!

The AFC playoff picture just sorted itself out in a hurry the past few weeks. With the Jets and Pats implosions, the wild cards seem 95% set in 10-5 Baltimore, 8-6 Miami and 8-6 LA Chargers.  It seems unlikely or impossible that the 7-8 teams can catch them. The only spot in question seems to be whether Jacksonville will complete the comeback and overtake the Titans for the AFC South.  They are both tied at 7-8.

My friend was supposed to go to the game but they bailed because of the weather. I’m sure many others did the same- can’t imagine standing in below 0 weather for 4 hours.

No kidding.  I sat in Heinz Field (the open end, with the wind whipping thru) in 30 degree weather and my toes were numb. My own fault for wearing cotton socks instead of wool.

The NFL will make money off the switch but I think it will drive fans away.  Not everyone has access to Youtube.  There is still a large segment of people in this country that doesn't have access to the internet where they live.  Call me crazy but I think the goal should be more people watching games. Not putting games behind paywalls.

I know this is a few days old but Sunday Ticket has always been a very restrictive offering.  Yes, there are going to be people who don't have great broadband and won't be able to stream the YouTube package.  (And I think nationwide broadband is something we should have.)  But all that does is change the makeup of who doesn't get access.  Before, there were millions of people living in apartment buildings or rented abodes that either didn't meet the criteria to allow the installation of a satellite or didn't want to go to war with their landlords over it.

And then there are those who didn't want to deal with Direct TV as their television provider and were willing to forego The Sunday Ticket because of it.

If YouTube makes this available even to people who aren't subscribers to YouTubeTV, then it'll make Sunday Ticket more available to more people. Or at least those who can afford it.

And there are reasons why they just don't make all games available to everyone.  It's a way of protecting the value of each team in their markets.  I don't see the NFL owners ever giving that up.

God that slate of Christmas Day games was BAD.   I know it looked better when the schedule game out, but even based no the teams' records this year it was still BAD.  Just ugh.   Hopefully everyone was in a food coma/adrenaline crash and was too tired to watch Bucs-Cards.

How bad was it?   In the MIDDLE of the Rams game they announced Rams-Chargers would be flexed out of SNF and Ravens-Steelers would be put in its place.   The Ravens and Steelers are not exactly lighting things up this year and are STILL considered better than Rams-Chargers.

We stayed up until the end.  It's like a train wreck that you can't look away from!  We had at least 3 things going against us:  Odds were showing Bucs to win (1st jinx); It was a night game (Bucs usually embarrass themselves on night games); and they were facing a rookie QB (Bucs usually help them look great!)  Having been stuck at home all week due to being sick, a Buc's win was a nice way to end the holiday weekend.

The Bucs will probably get decimated in any playoff game, but we'll take it game by game and hope for the best!  It's what we do.  And FWIW, did we really need to see the rookie QB's parents in the stands every 2 minutes?  I guess the camera crew was bored.  Remember when we had to see Kurt Warner's wife in the stands every other play?  Eyes on the game, guys!
