An Olicity theme question came up during the "Behind the Music" panel at SDCC 2017, which included Arrowverse composer Blake Neely, but also panelists from many different shows and genres...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKmqOHNW7W4

An Arrow fan in the audience asked how he came up with the Olicity theme that, she believed, first aired in 320,

Blake Neely: "Ah, the Olicity theme. And why twitter can be your not best friend. (Laughter) ... Olicity, for those of you who haven't watched Arrow - there's Oliver Queen, who's the Green Arrow, and Felicity. And they were a big love item - and might be again, I don't know... How I come up with it - I'm not sure how I came up with it. Um, but I know it's a very specific theme. And, uh, I woke up one day and I checked twitter - like you should not - and it, uh - and someone said, 'omigod' - and my twitter had blown up. There were like a hundred messages saying, 'you betrayed us, you used the Olicity theme on Oliver and his new girlfriend.' And I'm like, 'oh my god, did I?" (Laughter) So I raced to the studio. I'm like - man, I mean, I do drink when I write, but - (Laughter)... Um, like, no way, I'm very careful with themes. And so I checked and I hadn't, so I told them, you know, piano and strings doesn't equal a theme, it's actually - and then I get this, 'oh, we're sorry, we're sorry, we're sorry.' Um, so it is a very special theme to me, and it's also an 'ohmygod' theme because when I hear Olicity, I think of that morning... But I don't remember how I came up with it."

I'm more embarrassed about the overreaction by fans who would flood his twitter over something that turned out to not be true. And now that's what he  associates with the Olicity theme.

LOL! Well, he'll be careful with those strings and piano now, won't he? :P

Themes more appropriate for Oliver/Susan:

  • Yakity Sax
  • Sad Trombone
  • Canary Cry (Dinah version)
  • Windows XP error noise
  • Seagulls
  • Canary Cry (LL version)
  • Stuck Garbage Disposal

FYI, some fans (Austencello, SmoakMonster) believe the Olicity theme debuted in 223...

And here are some of BN's past tweets on the Olicity theme from 2014 and 2016...

The Susan Oliver theme:

I thought about adding that but that sound represents making a connection which is the opposite of Susan/Oliver. ?

(So sad the new generations will be deprived of the dulcet tones of dial up modems)

Hey.  So a friend of mine who I introduced to Arrow has been following SA on twitter and saw that he mentioned he is coming to Wrigley in a few weeks to watch the blue jays play the Cubs.  You guys know any other reason he'd be in Chicago? Wizard world isn't until almost a week after the game (I can't imagine he'd have that much time away from filming) and he's not on the schedule as of yet that I see. We are considering stalking him...ok so we are totally going to wrigley for the slim chance of spotting him and I thought if he's at anything else we'd check it out.

Stephen has a Nocking Point party this weekend and people at the event are saying that they're showing 5x20 at the party and Stephen is providing commentary as they watch.

Some interesting tidbits according to people tweeting from the event:

Stephen said he and Emily always try to push the limits of what they are allowed to do when filming sex scenes*

*so yes I'm reading into that that the flip scene in the flashback sex was an intentional innuendo. ?

He also apparently said he wished Arrow was a HBO show so they could have more sex scenes*

*We all do Stephen!

And also someone who was at the con with baby Felicity asked Stephen if he told Emily about baby Felicity so he texted Emily a picture of him with baby Felicity. Emily texted back that she was cute.

And that's all folks so far.

Apparently Stephen also said to someone at the event that Emily is always wants the sex scenes to be as sexy as possible.

Thanks Emily,

Sincerly every fan who watched the 3x20 sex scene on you tube ?

I'm hoping that when SA said he and EBR have talked about making Oliver and Felicity's relationship more adult this is what he meant ;)

Local media report on what WH said at Comic Con Honolulu on July 29...

Comic Con Honolulu unites celebrities, artists and fans
July 30th 2017  Cheyanne Mumphrey,
http://www.k5thehometeam.com/story/35999789/comic-con-honolulu-unites-celebrities-artists-and-fans

Quote

Saturday, CW stars Willa Holland, who plays Thea Queen in "Arrow," and Danielle Panabaker, who plays Caitlin Snow in "The Flash," joined the convention.

"I have zero information about season six, other than the fact that it's happening," Holland said. "I feel like my character has grown up with me in a lot of ways and I like to pretend that I'm more mature than she is, but I don't even know if that's a true statement or not — we've definitely grown a lot in the last five years."

Since the big topic, this hiatus always seems to come down to hair, I have to say, I'm not sure I'm a fan of Willa's bangs.  Her face shape is changed in a manner that I don't find flattering.

About her not knowing anything that is happening, that seems to say that she's not getting much to do (if anything) in the early episodes.

Is she wearing shower shoes in that last picture, where you can see her feet?

Hahaha, that's the first thing I noticed, too. Those rubbery slides are in style right now but hers look extra fluffy.

I'm all for comfy shoes and those slides are, I guess, very on trend, but they look so sloppy to me and like she can't be bothered.

I find that kind of shoe hard to keep on my feet.  If I have to concentrate on keeping my shoes on or worrying about tripping as I walk, it's not comfortable.

I like a strap around my heel and something over the top of the shoe.  I guess it's a good thing I don't have to worry about finding the money to buy those slides.

I agree. Why couldn't they do that?

Well apparently when Stephen said they "always push the limits" during sex scenes that a lot of what they put in gets cut.

Release the tapes CW!

My understanding is that there are no actual rules about what can be shown or not, but that networks have treated the 8 o'clock hour as "family" hour and had less language, sex, etc. I thought, though, that the networks had recently said they weren't going to make that distinction any more.

That's KT tape and it's genius. IDK how it works exactly but it helps support injured muscles. And also provides a 3 year old with something to draw on! Hehe.

I was going to say that probably means no shirtless Oliver for a while but I'd be happy to work the KT tape into the show.
