The drama has already been sucked out of the reveal, though. Especially on Billy's end. Like that's just...over. There's no way to write this and focus on Billy bc he just doesn't care about Jack. No way around that.

This past week is kiiiiiinda "saving" Phyllis bc she's back to claiming she also "loves" Jack, which means, at least in this moment (until next week when she has a different POV, I'm sure), she'll be devastated when Jack finally sees her as trash.

I've seen the rumors of Hilary targeting Billy. Bring it, I say. I'm just laughing at how they're trying to pair JT with like....everyone....at this point. It's the worst thing to do with with a newbie. In my experience, some viewers hate being force-fed a character.

Yes. Absolutely true. But the only thing that had me hanging on was the ONE scene PB would get, when he gets to react and gets to tell her go to hell. Billy, ugh, IDGAF. As you say he has no fucks to give about Jack so what the fuck ever. But Pratt can't even see the drama in the REVEAL in this story. That promo is about the long telegraphed return of a C-lister Chloe? And last week was the "big showdown" that leads to Victor's asinine redemption.

It's sweeps.

Unpopular opinion here i guess but I like Devon and think he's a catch. He's a good person wirhout a bunch of crazy baggage. Plus BJ is handsome with a pretty smile and smooth skin. I think he looks great shirtless and I like to see it. I don't think Billy is an improvement at all. But then I like all the Winters family. And none seem popular here.

While I don't necessarily hate Devon, he's just one of those characters that I never understood why he was kept around. In the decade or so since coming on the show, his biggest stories have been his adoption, the loss of his hearing and then, years and years later in an attempt to keep him relevant, his connection to Katherine and Tucker and inheriting the lion's share of her fortune....more than the even her son and granddaughter (who by then had a child of her own) even got.

Drucilla was the glue that held the Winters together and the writers have struggled to make the lot of them work after Victoria Roswell quit the show. Neil in particular has been hurt, because his self righteousness goes largely unchecked these days. And I really couldn't see Dru sitting quietly after all the shit Cane has put her through, especially when she had it out for Daniel for less.

BH is a solid actor but I'll never buy him as a leading man with those eternal 15-year-old boy looks. He could have been interesting with his from-the streets-history and BH's acting abilities. Instead he spent years being a self-righteous bitch and now he's just blah. No one wants to write for this guy so why do they keep him around????? I don't get it. 

Soap writers of this era don't have the ability to write for character. And BH suffers from that. Bill Bell would have made good use of him IMO.

Maybe Mal Young will be his ticket. In any case he's a tough sell with a soap diva Hilary. She looks like his hot babysitter. If they want her to continue being this type of character she is not remotely believable with Devon. I honestly think he would have been good with Summer. A guy who grew up like he did with that spoiled princess who thinks she knows everything?? I'd be down for that.

Devon wasn't made Kay's grandson to make him relevant. That was done to give tucker more story and ties to canvas. Devon never got much story out of that. It was all about Tucker. Then they brought on yolanda to give neil and tucker story. Devon was rarely on during it all. 

 

What I've never understood is why Devon wasn't ever written the same as the other young men like Daniel and Peter Pan Kevin. They've got pairing after pairing while he never did. I always felt he was grossly underutilized and it was unfair to the actor who wasn't any less attractive or talented during that time. 

 

It took him 10 years to get amy onscreen romance and that was only truly cause Mishael Morgan asked for it. And even then they couldn't resist trying her with neil first just in case. I don't get it.

I'm cool with Devon. He hasn't raped, murdered, kidnapped, gaslighted, or doppelganged anyone. His relationships with women who are involved with his father are sketchy as hell, but at least he didn't knock any of them up. Yeah, this show has taught me to lower my standards.

Then we have Stitch, who I am most certainly not cool with. Dr. Neville was sacrificed at the Altar of Yeast, because god knows a replay of Stitch's and Ashley's sordid workplace shower sex is what the fans are clamoring for.

Morgan said so in one of her early interviews. She said that when her initial arc was over, she sat down with TPTB and they asked her what she thought. She said she suggested a romance with Devon and Hilary and Griffith was all for it. Then the new writers came in and changed direction. 

 

I don't think she has clout at all. It was no sweat off anyone's nose to pair them so why not. PB versus EB is an entirely different animal. EB won't allow Victor to lose or be humbled. He was just on twitter yesterday giving folks the business for suggesting that it was Victor's fault he was out with his family. PB doesn't stand a chance. 

 

I had also heard that PB has wanted jack to be the father of one of the leading heroines on the show. He hasn't gotten that either. It seems an easy thing to do IMO. 

 

I hope Mal Young does do right by KSJ, MM, and BJ. I won't hold my breath though. Especially with Pratt still penning stories. He's a heavy handed hack!

Remember a few years back when it was previewed in the mags that Stitch would be in a qaud with Abby, ashley, and Vikki. I'm ecstatic that never materialized onscreen! I still don't get why these beautiful, educated heiresses would want him. I could see if he had the face of a young Benjamin Bratt, the body and stature of Lebron James, and the title of crown prince of a European principality. But he's none of that. I don't get the hype.

Okay, folks, got me some soooper secret access to behind the scenes photos of Mal Young's reboot of several key players in Genoa City.

Yes, he's heard us.  Yes, he's aware of how bad Victor needs a reboot, and he's even more aware of off-putting ButtBiscuit has become.

These pictures reassure me, they really do.

Victor will once again be the kindly, lovable old Gwampaw that Dummer knows and reveres.  Here he is at the revamped Abbott Cabin and Abbatoir.

He's aware that many of us have been put off by Jason Thompson's seeming lack of any ability to exhibit even a trace of humanity in his portrayal of Billy.

This behind-the-scene picture should help humanize him and his ButtBiscuit for us all.

 

Lastly, and this is really a spoiler, there IS a bundle of joy headed our way!  Oh joy, one of Victor's swimmers did make it to shore and Dr. LooneyToons is going to have a Newman baby.

He has his father's soul.....

He got stuck with Dummer once, which made a certain amount of sense.  Neither AH or MCE would, based on Vic's  history and Chelsea being involved with Billy.

But it did materialize on our screen.  It may not have been a quadrangle per se, but it was definitely interlocking triangles.  I totally understand you blocking that traumatic memory, though!  ;^)

No, I don't hate Darvon, that would be like hating, say, shelf paper.  Shelf papers are tidy, they don't sparkle but they don't offend, they're part of the landscape and yet if they disappear you're left thinking, "something's different", but you never quite remember what.  And like Darvon, sometimes they get sticky but with one quick wipe, they're clean and quickly forgotten.  And nobody has EVER gotten excited about one.  That's pretty much our Darvon.

Hillary is Elmira Gulch without a bicycle and Darvon is Toto.

The funny thing is, I saw the recent CBS soap magazine where Daniel Goddard had an interview where he mentioned he'd like to work with JT and they had his (Thompson's) pic next to Goddard's. It funny that they got a Billy that looks more like his brother than Billy Miller, who was in the role when everyone thought he and Cane to be related. :p

Well, as for the Winters being WORSE, Neil didn't used to be a psychotic kidnapper a la Smelly Horse. But still, they weren't particularly liked, even under less destructive writers. (Godawful as JFP and Pratt are, I refuse to use "LML" "MAB" and "more talented" in the same sentence. Because, no). Lily's always been a judgemental shrew and Devon is at worst, easily forgotten...with Pratt at the helm, I think I'd rather my character be forgotten that completely obliterated.

I have no desire see them pair this charmless version of Billy Abbott with Victoria. Travis....*yawn*. 

Travis paired with Vikki...Meh, I see nothing there.  Despite the airtime, he seems like a time filler so the show can push Phillis and Billy. 

Now I wouldn't mind vikki and cane. But I think the show has learned a valuable lesson about  affair stories. They are a big gamble and sometimes don't work. But at least lily can finally be free of Cane. He's weighed her down for far too long.

I think it was never a super advanced cancer and Pratt was all "ew who wants to see THAT story" (unlike torture and rape and Buttbiscuit shirtless). So it got resolved by never being mentioned!

Totally agree re: Philly. Affairs are not a problem on soaps. It's how this particular one has been presented.

I think it's the lighting, Spinx. There's no way show would ask ButtBiscuit to change anything. He's perfect. They'd ask every Abbott to dye their hair black and wear brown contact lenses first. Seeing as they've rewritten history to make him the brooding dark hero of Y&R, why not?

Interesting that JFP fired Roark. He was outshining the Butt and her obvious fantasy of every female on show fighting for him would be scuttled by ShouldHaveBeenBilly. 

Vicki is now single and ready to fall all over ButtBiscuit who is now presented as the most loving father ever, mere weeks after blowing off his kids on father's day to fuck his sister in law.

I hate this show.

What I do find interesting about this photo is Billy's suit. It's a far different look than he's been sporting. It may be just that Mama Jill makes him dress properly for work but that's a spiffy suit AND a tie clip.

Travis had all the qualities that ButtBiscuit is sorely lacking. I suspect this was a problem for JFP.

Mal Young is bringing him back but he won't appear on screen until late August.

Nope. No redeeming. I am looking for signs that he leaves Jack's orbit. I can't even watch my darling PB any more because of this fucking character. Let him go be smug with Victoria and Jill and Cane and leave Jack and Phyllis the fuck alone. I say Jack and Phyllis because she won't FUCKING LEAVE HIM FOR REAL. I'm afraid they will drag this reveal to Jack into November and he'll be stuck with Phyllis being "torn" for that long. But at least if Billy's in another storyline it helps.

THIS is what pisses me off about Phyllis' "break" BS. So what exactly is Jack doing until the reveal? Probably nothing, right? Just begging for her to come home? Again, notice how there are no Jack spoilers.
