staveDarsky April 12, 2015 Share April 12, 2015 Love the actors on Broadchurch? Want to see more of their work? Here's the place to recommend and talk about other shows/movies the cast members have been in. To start off: Olivia Colman I first saw her in Twenty Twelve, a spoof about getting ready for the 2012 London Olympics. Olivia played Sally, the personal assistant of Hugh Bonneville's character, Ian Fletcher. She had an unrequited crush on her boss that manifested itself in trying to satisfy his every coffee/breakfast/lunch and other material need. Oh, and did I mention the show had a hilarious narration done by David Tennant? It's also worth searching YouTube for the sketches she did with Martin Freeman on the show Bruiser, particularly the Husband and Wife ones. 1 Link to comment
pezgirl7 April 12, 2015 Share April 12, 2015 James D'Arcy, who plays Lee, is in one of my favorite movies, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. His role isn't huge, but he plays a first Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, so he's a pretty important part of the crew that the film is about. He's young, dashing, brave and honorable, so quite different from Lee. Oh, and he has a ponytail. :) Link to comment
atomationage March 18, 2016 Share March 18, 2016 Olivia Coleman is in The Night Manager now. Jonathan Bailey has worked since he was a kid, most recently a comedy series called Crashing, about young people living in the rooms of a disused hospital. Link to comment
Raingirlkm March 23, 2016 Share March 23, 2016 James D'Arcy is also in Agent Carter as Jarvis. I didn't trust him the whole first season because of Lee. By season two he'd become one of my favorite characters. 1 Link to comment
atomationage March 24, 2016 Share March 24, 2016 I liked the first season of Broadchurch better than the second, because they had to sex it up with Mr. D'Arcy. The actor is fine, but I didn't like the direction the plot went. Andrew Buchan's character burnt down London in The Great Fire. Shaun Dooley, the father of one of the murdered girls, was in the last two seasons of Misfits, and the newer cop show Cuffs. Alfred Enoch had a bit part in the first episode, and is now featured in How To Get Away With Murder, with an American accent. Link to comment
Raingirlkm August 25, 2016 Share August 25, 2016 I am so excited! I just read this on Variety. Not about the movie per se, though I do like quite a bit of Devlin's stuff, but about the fact the David Tennant will be filming in the Portland area WHERE I LIVE!! Right now I am one very happy fangirl! I'm going to go breath in a paper bag now! I can't believe how many exclamation points I used in this post. I'm usually much more restrained. Thus is the power of DT. :-) 4 Link to comment

jeansheridan July 16, 2017 Share July 16, 2017 She wasn't even on my radar to be The Doctor. Her 1 min clip gives me a little hope. The blonde hair gives her some zest. 1 Link to comment
tennisgurl July 16, 2017 Share July 16, 2017 Beth is the new Doctor! What a weird sentence to type! Anyway, I'm excited, even though Beth is basically the opposite of what I consider a Doctor style personality, Jodie is a really good actress and she seems super excited about the role. Is the entirety of Broadchurch some kind of bizarre alien simulation where 10, 13, and Rory are forever trapped in a pretty but creepy town in northern England dealing with weirdoes and being sad all the time? 3 Link to comment

Southern England, but yeah, it does seem like some kind of alternate universe. I'm just waiting for the Sea Devils to attack. Add Sarah Parish and Olivia Colman to the list of cross-overs. They both had guest roles on DW over the years. I think the real problem is that the acting community in England is relatively small and DW has been going on for years, with a large and diverse guest cast from week to week, so eventually just about everyone has been in it. lilwhitelion July 25, 2017 Share July 25, 2017 James D'Arcy is a British officer in Dunkirk. Not a large role (not many lines of dialogue in the movie overall). With his face clean-shaven and his hair covered by a cap, it took me a while to recognize him. Also, surprised nobody has mentioned Jacob Anderson (Chloe's boyfriend) is Grey Worm on Game of Thrones. Quite the sexy scene this week for him and Nathalie Emmanuel as Missandei. Link to comment

That's why he left the show. The whole emigrated to Australia seemed odd to me. Heh. He is very handsome but doesn't get much to do on GOT. I think Nigel as Nigel would be great on Dr Who. Such a big doofus. Link to comment
jeansheridan August 6, 2017 Share August 6, 2017 I loved the Escape Artist too with Tennant. I think it was pre Broadchurch. Just a sharp little three hour show. Is that a common format in England? We don't do 3 ep specials here. Cable does 8 eps sometimes, but 13 seems to be the magic number for short shows. I like 8 personally. Enough room to breathe but no time to spin wheels. We're only half through (they're showing it in two parts a week apart), and it was so bad my sister wanted to just stop watching it. Tennant is fine. No problems there, But the plot is so trite so full of holes, it's painful to watch. Who didn't immediately know Ashley Jensen was going to end up dead as soon as she showed up on screen? Even a severe mental defective would have known when she and the kid drove to the out-of-the-way country cottage with crappy cell phone coverage. And everybody's so la-di-da casual about this bloody homicidal maniac running around that they just let the kid wander off from school? And the triteness of the watching the wedding video scene -- so cliché. No one in his law office (or what ever the UK term is) even seems to be concerned about the potential danger. And the other barrister (solicitor?)? She's set up as a moron, too. I just can't with the bad writing and the predictability. We're recording it, so we'll probably just fast forward to the end to see how dumb it really is. It's almost as bad as Se7en. Didn't everyone know as soon as Paltrow showed up on screen that she was dead woman walking? And if you didn't know her head was in that cake box, well..... 1 Link to comment
jeansheridan September 7, 2017 Share September 7, 2017 I think you might like the ending. I don't watch many psycho killer shows/movies so the beats didn't bother me. I just love Tennant. But not enough to enjoy his Hamlet. Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo November 14, 2017 Share November 14, 2017 (edited) Olivia Colman has been cast as Queen Elizabeth II for season 3 of The Crown Casting for Prince Phillip hasn't been announced yet but she's not opposed to a Broadchurch reunion: Quote Still, she was delighted to hear that her Broadchurch co-star David Tennant is currently leading a RadioTimes.com poll to decide who is the fan favourite to replace Matt Smith. “Oh can you imagine, how much fun!” she said. “We’d never get anything done, we’d just chat all day. That would be heaven!” Edited December 1, 2017 by ElectricBoogaloo Weird formatting issue 2 Link to comment
Llywela November 16, 2017 Share November 16, 2017 Ellie's murdering husband Joe - actor Matthew Gravelle - is currently appearing in the Welsh language drama Un Bore Mercher, alongside Eve Myles, who played Claire in season two (Eve learned to speak Welsh fluently specially for the role) - there will be an English language version of the show airing after Christmas sometime under the name Keeping Faith. Both are very, very different characters than they played in Broadchurch. Eve Myles is Faith, a lawyer, wife and mother who is a partner in her husband's family law firm but is currently on maternity leave - her life seems perfectly normal and perfectly happy, until the day her husband Evan leaves for work and never arrives. Faith is left to pick up the pieces, discovering in the process that her husband really wasn't who she always thought he was. Matthew Gravelle plays her brother-in-law Terry, a police constable.
