Looks like we won't be getting any first ballot HOFers next year.  Most will likely fall off the ballot after one year too.  Beltran has a case based on the numbers but he torpedoed his chances thanks to the cheating scandal.  K-Rod is 4th in saves, but I don't think he can be put in the same level as the three guys ahead of him (Rivera, Hoffman, Smith).

So the Yankees have no problem with a player who is not vaccinated and potentially can't travel to Toronto, but god forbid a player has long hair or a beard.

Benintendi said he is open-minded about the vaccination, which I took to mean he will absolutely be vaxxed next time the Yanks head north.

Random question - does anyone know if John Sterling says “Nobody Beats the Riz” when Anthony Rizzo hits a home run?

He sure does!

I know Sterling has taken some games off this year, but it was weird hearing Ryan Ruocco subbing for him on the radio recently.

I am so happy to hear he does that call.  Also, I am very old.

I adore Ryan, but agree that would be disconcerting hearing him on the radio.

Another Friday night game exclusively on AppleTV.

I have access, and yet I still really hate this.

I have paid for cable and a PVR, so I can record games and watch them at my convenience.

With this live streaming, you're forced to watch it live and are tethered to your couch between 7 and 10 PM unable to move or else you miss something.  It's like 20-30 years ago when everyone would gather to watch Friends or Survivor at 8 pm.  This is so stupid and insane.

Aaron Judge with a walk off homer for the Yankees as they beat the Royals - Judge’s third walk off homer of the season!

It’s possible that I am biased (test results are pending) but in today’s game no one has a prettier stance and swing than Aaron James Judge.

I could watch today’s game on Amazon Prime on the iPhone or iPad but we didn’t buy a big honking TV to do that.  So I’m also tethered to the living room because we don’t have the ability to watch Prime on a TV in any other room.  Curse you, Manfred.

He looked particularly graceful striking out three times against Max Scherzer the other night... 😉

Judge just hammered his 40th dinger of the season, and he robbed a guy of a homer in the 1st inning. He’s playing at an unreal level right now.

I have no idea what you are referring to, my week goes Monday Thursday Friday Saturday.  Did I miss something?

I don’t know if this happened to anyone else, but sometime in the middle innings of the Yankees game, before the rain delay, the audio got out of sync with the video, so we were hearing the ball hitting the catchers mitt or the bat as the pitcher was in his motion. Really annoying. We were watching Prime through a Roku.

I had that happen too, I was using the PS4.  I had to keep hitting fast forward and play and then it worked again.

Watching the rerun now and I do feel badly for the Royals.  After the rain delay they were probably like “ok we got our first runs in like 75 innings, we’re up two on the best team in baseball, we just need to hold them off for two more innings, we got this!” And then the bottom of the eighth happened.

What the HELL are the Padres wearing tonight? They look like something out of a Cyndi Lauper video. 😮

Their City Connect jerseys.  I guess not everyone's can be as nice as the Nationals jerseys.

The other week, the Jays were playing the Royals who wear the JAYS ROYAL BLUE and the stupid Jays players insisted on wearing the cursed red uniforms.  So the Jays were in red and the Royals were in blue.  Good lord, I hate this sooooo much!  I kept cheering for the wrong team and being embarrassed.

This whole City Connect uni thing is kind of weird. I'm sure they have a plan, but as a fan, the rollout feels kind of random. My Pirates probably won't get the new look until 2026.

I am also convinced that while big market teams like the White and Red Sox, Dodgers etc. have gotten them, they have not touched the Yankees pinstripes because they are afraid that fans and the Baseball Furies will hunt them down.

My favorite team, the Marlins, have collapsed, they have a slew of injuries and will finish with a bad record once again. It’s beyond time to ditch Mattingly, he’s not a good manager and they will never go anywhere with him at the helm.

The good news is, my second favorite team, the Braves (yes I pull for two teams in the same division) are playing really well, they just swept the D-Backs. The battle between the Braves and Mets for the NL East crown will be fun, and I hope the Braves go on a playoff run again, it would be awesome if they won the World Series in back to back seasons after the long championship drought Atlanta sports teams have had. The Braves have a strong lineup and strong starting pitching, the bullpen is the main concern as it’s been a bit shaky at times. The NL race is pretty wide open right now, whereas in the AL I think it’s between the Astros and Yankees.

So I'm reading this article on the City Connect Uniforms and am very amused by this statement about the Padres:

Quote

Fan reception: Images of the Padres' City Connect uniforms leaked a couple days early, and the reaction on social media was mixed, which shouldn't surprise anyone given the team utilized colors hardly ever seen on major league jerseys and caps. Some fans loved them. Some compared them to a can of Arizona Iced Tea or '90s roller-skaters.

As a Yankees fan, I'm somewhat intrigued by what they'll do, if they do anything.

On the one hand, I'm totally okay if the story comes out that the Yankees said to Nike, "Yeah, we're not doing that."  Because, heh, yeah, we're not doing that. It's kind of our thing to not change the uniform.

On the other hand, if they did something really cool, they would sell SO MUCH merchandise, which is the whole point.

Brewers trade closer Josh Hader to the Padres in exchange for 4 players. This is a shocking move IMO, to see one playoff team trade their closer to another playoff team, the Brewers must have no confidence in Hader, he hasn’t pitched well lately but when he can be one of the most dominant closers in MLB. Very interesting that they would trade him to another team that’s in the playoff race.

Right?  And to HOUSTON, of all places?  This makes me sad and neither of those horses run my race.

Do I have to hate Mancini now?(Yes, I know he had nothing to do with the cheating scandal.  I’m overreacting.)

I would say no, unless they have another scandal.  He shouldn't be punished like the ones who were there when all that happened.

I've already seen tweets of people saying they are pro booing and I quote 'a cancer survivor' bc he is an Astro

So this kind of thing is why I am becoming a Houston supporter. Also maybe I am just contrary lol. But seriously most of that roster has turned over.

ETA although I still hate Hinch.

Hasn't Hinch been drummed out of baseball?

eta I guess not. 🫣

Oh shit, the Tigers are never on TV, so I didn't realize someone gave that ass a job. It certainly didn't help

So Jays played the Tigers this weekend and I must say I did enjoy seeing him sit in the dugout as they lost the series, with a team that that is going nowhere as far as I can tell. (Sorry to any Tigers fans. I honestly don't know much about them or their rebuild.)

Honestly, the Marlins seem to go nowhere no matter who is commanding the dugout. That team has been aimless for as long as they've been around. Their problems run far deeper than their manager, for sure.

I think their problems started when the owner sold off most of the players after their world series win.

The fans became apathetic and the players play that way.

They play just well enough to be pesky and persnickity in the NL East.

Great weather, coming in after Comic-Con, and it's not the NL East. Good luck, Juan! You're guaranteed not to face deGrom during the regular season!

Twice!

Parity in MLB has improved somewhat since the institution of the luxury tax, but what's always been needed is a salary floor, not just a ceiling.
