I was marginally rooting for Milwaukee since my brother lived in Madison for about 15 years, and my longtime hairdresser is a Wisconsin native and huge fan.

But mad props to the Mets. They were the better team today.

On to Philly!

The anchor lady on my local news says the Tigers series will be streaming on MAX, but an article I read said that only select games will be on MAX.  Anyone have MAX that can confirm or rebut the availability?

Mixed.  Feel betrayed, but also feel good for him personally.

But Vogt has done a great job this year, considering what he has to work with and the shoes to follow.

We believe in Stephen Vogt!

(Old chant from his playing days with the A's)

Sorry @roamyn but I'm going with the 'dogs.

I took a screenshot of the postseason schedule from the MLB app last week. I tried to find the full article again to no avail. (I thought I had bookmarked it, but evidently not. 😏) Anyway, here is the section about LDS coverage. It does mention MAX, but the schedule MLB posted just after the Mets clinched, only shows TBS.

EDITED TO ADD: I found the link. It's on TBS, truTV and MAX.

OK, I went all the way down this MAX rabbit hole. 😄 Here's a photo of my TV showing the main MAX Sports page. They definitely are streaming Tigers/Guardians.

I'm not good with the screenshots like @ProudMary, but here's the link to the Max sports schedule.  Looks like the game will be on there.

I hope this means his health is greatly improved; he was really in bad shape by the time his tenure in Cleveland ended.  If so, he did his best for us and gave us a lot of great baseball; I wish we'd gotten a WS win, but I don't begrudge him.

The Guardians struck gold with their rookie manager, Vogt.  If this season hadn't gone so well, maybe Tito would've returned.  But, as it is, there's no place for him here.

Reds' fans are in for a treat and I predict Tito will be much loved there, too.

Having to go through all of this to figure out where games are going to be aired is ridiculous.  Also, MAX costs money.  Do better, baseball.

And they wonder why they can't "grow the game". One game all weekend on free TV. And it's Saturday afternoon.

Yes to all of this, not to mention that during the regular season there are games that aren't aired on the normal local outlet, but instead on Prime, AppleTV+, Peacock, or RokuTV. It's insanity. Pick a lane, MLB!

Figuring out how to watch a baseball game should not involve more work than writing a college research paper.

An email from the Tigers “marketing staff” this morning just says the game will be shown on TBS.  So which is it?!  TBS, TruTV & Max? Or one of them?  If only one, which one?

It's all 3. MAX is showing it as TBS on MAX.

Wanted to wish @Calvada and the Brewers good luck tonight! I'm probably a weirdo because I always cheer for whoever makes it out of our division (unless it's the Cubs). And I have family in Milwaukee who are fans of the Brew Crew and super excited. They've been a good team all year and deserve to make it past the stupid wild card round.

Thanks for the good thoughts.  As I said earlier in the week, I wasn't surprised the Brewers didn't make it out of this round.  They have a habit of doing this.  Devin Williams has made me nervous ever since he returned from his injury.  I wish they had kept Megill in the closer role or brought up Misiorowski.

But I'm fine with it.  Zero expectations, after all.  I have a friend who texted me that he thought the Brewers were trying to kill him.  Then he said, no, they're trying to kill Uecker 🤣🤣

On to my other sports - the NFL, college basketball, and Wisconsin volleyball & women's hockey.   I hope all of you who cheer for the teams still in it have fun.

Omg, that was so sad. "That one... had some sting on it." 😢

Christian Yelich was crying after the game, not because of the loss, but because of Ueck.  They all like Ueck so much and they love when he's able to be there at the ballpark.

Yeah after mulling it over, I'm glad he's at least staying in Ohio.  After all he grew up partially here when his dad was with the Tribe.

I just hope his health doesn't go downhill again.  He doesn't need that.

Broadcasting line-up for each LDS.

To me, Yankees/Royals drew the best team. I know that Bob Costas isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I still enjoy his stories and Ron Darling is great.

As mentioned, it shouldn't take work to figure out where the playoff games are.  No one should have to pay for a Major League Baseball postseason game.  Although it's unpopular in the National Football League, they are at a level where that's no big deal in my opinion.  Stop taking two steps forward & then three steps back

Congrats to everyone who thinks the game is rigged in favor of the Yankees, they'll think the Chisholm call should have been reversed after appeal.  Meanwhile sensitive Yankees fans will get upset about this narrative of the league putting their thumb on the scale to help them.

He was probably out, but I don't think they would have overturned the on field call either way (cue conspiracy theorists saying a Royals runner definitely would have been called out).

@baldryanr Considering that there were not one, not two, but three very close plays on the bases yesterday, (Jazz Chisholm's steal of 2nd, Trea Turner's pick-off attempt at first, and Freddie Freeman's steal of 2nd) over three separate games, where MLB got the replay review wrong, it seems to me that unless the replay review incontrovertibly shows that the call was missed, MLB's going to side with its on-field umpires.

Jomboy Media, always good at this, has put together a good video about the three calls.

Umpire Scorecards are up for all four of Saturday's games.

The NY/Phi game was exciting, but you guys only tied up the series. They're going bonkers.

Yeah, but any win is exciting at this time of year.  Especially at home.  And with a walk-off.  Of course they're going bonkers.

Walk off single.

Still works.  A walk-off walk would have worked.

They need to throw the entire bleacher section of Dodger Stadium out.  People suck.

Don't make me start rooting for the Padres, dammit.

Bob Costas not knowing for sure why the Yankees fans boo Yuli Gurriel is cute.  He’s a terrible person who is a cheat, Bob.  Nothing deeper than that.

What really pissed me off there was Costas saying that Yankees' fans were upset about 2019--which we certainly were and still are--and then mentioned only Dodgers' fans being upset about 2017. Who the hell does he think the Trashstros beat to get to the Dodgers? To this day, I'm more angry about 2017. I've always felt that Yankees team would have beaten the Dodgers.

Costas knew about Gurriel. He just had to play neutral so the Royals fans would keep watching. He's a blatant Yankee homer, very unpleasant to listen to, and I generally like him.

I've defected to football, but watching the scummy Chiefs isn't any better. Argh.

KB has always been the studio host, I believe.  Even when Joe was still calling games with John for the network.  Although I think Davis has done well in his 3rd year of being the guy, I agree that it should be Kevin in that role.  Other football lead guys are the voice of the A team in other sports (Nantz & Tirico).  No big deal; either guy doing what he does is fine for me

Smoltz's insights are unparalleled, as usual. Tonight I learned if your team can get a lot of hits, and is hard to strike out, they'll do well in the postseason. Especially if your pitcher prevents the other team from getting hits.

This is the inside baseball I'm here for.

Another year of the Dodgers crapping on themselves in the playoffs. Definitely decimated with injuries this year, but they will likely fire Roberts (finally).

This was on Johnny Bench’s x-thread, as part of his salute to Luis Tiant.  I just love this of the two of them from that World Series, and had to post it here:

From 11 years ago, my annual reminder that Cole started in Pittsburgh (why did they let him get away?)

“In their most important game in 21 years, the Pittsburgh Pirates are starting rookie Gerrit Cole.

If that does not sum up AJ Burnett's major league career, I don't know what will.”

$$$$.  You don't really think the Pirates would have been willing to pay him anywhere close to his true market value, do you?

Are they cheap or did they not even have the money if they wanted to?

What the hell are these Cleveland uniforms?  Did they lose all of their other ones?

There you go.  Eight more wins for the Mets.
