Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Interesting!  So, all of the disruption to do the photo session in the midst of Tim's wedding and reception was for naught.  Typical Jill.

I wonder if Brianne was scared off by Jill's invasion of Tim and Heidi's privacy and her refusal to back down even when called out on it by Heidi's family?

I think possibly you were the one who commented Brianne was solidly middle class and was not going to be living in a trailer in the barndo driveway.

She probably wasn't going to go for a rod fixer upper near the barndo either after seeing what Kaylee and Timothy found. (nothing against their houses, if it's what you want/can afford/have desire to fix up)

I think a good dose of the rod clan at thanksgiving, trying to keep sweet during a game where sam couldn't come up with words to describe common items, bad food, modeling Jill's crap clothes, hymn singing at 1am etc was well beyond what she envisioned her cosplay prairie role to be.

That church in Missouri has some link to an aviation mission group in Alaska. She went on a missions trip there last summer. So she is most likely joining them in some capacity.

Bri realized what being a member of the Rod clan might be like.   She might want a fundie husband but one of the well to do ones.  Although none of them are too bright either.   That's homeschooling for you when you are taught for the illiterate and indifferent.

Alaska she can find a self-sufficent man who can keep her in the style to which she has become accustomed.

Like her or not Brianna has spent some time in real world.  She may dream of being a tradwife but she wants to be a middle / upper-middle class tradwife with a husband who has a job that can legitimately take care of her so if she does want to sell poison apples it is a side business for pocket money and not something that she needs to pay the light bill.   Sam is likely going to work minimum wage jobs (not that there is anything wrong with that) if he works at all and move near or in with Jill  and whoever lucky lady he marries will be expected to fall in line and not be the head of it.  That is not really what Bri signed up for.

yes let's all pray for Amy to take massive bowel movements. I wouldn't want anyone posting online about my bowel movements and secretions.

I think Amy is having diarrhea and possibly has C-diff from all of the antibiotics.  C-diff can be difficult to treat and highly contagious.  I hope I’m wrong.

ETA:  Thankfully Amy’s bowel problems have been fixed so it wasn’t C-diff.

From Reddit - all mention of Samuel and Brianne's courtship has been removed from Jill's content.

Thanksgiving with the Rod clan in their own environment must have frightened her off.

Jill needs to quit mentioning or posting anything regarding the kids love life!  That is 3 broken courtships that she’s told the whole world about.

Jill can't help herself. Everything she does is to the nth degree. Whether it is "decorating" her house, a Christmas tree, those cookies.... or in this case, just letting things go the way they will go naturally.

Antibiotics alone can cause major bowel problems without it being c-diff.  If she's improving as they withdraw the antibiotics, there is hope it was a reaction or side effect.  I may have that problem.  I know people who have had c-diff and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.  Sometimes it is extremely difficult to treat.

My understanding is that c-diff is more of an infectious process than something you get just from your own gut bacteria getting out of whack. I knew someone who had c-diff and it was awful; she got it from caring for a parent - who had got it while in a nursing home after surgery. She had medical issues of her own and I'm not sure her digestive system ever really recovered from c diff. Ugh.

The C diff bacterium does apparently spread easily in hospitals, which makes sense. I hope Amy doesn't go home with more medical problems than she already had!

Unfortunately it's quite possible to get c-diff while taking antibiotics.  Most of the people who I know who have had it got it that way.  Several antibiotics are known to have greater potential than others to lead to the problem.  The most recent case was a good friend and neighbor who had it after needing antibiotics for dental work.

I will crib from AI:

Quote

How antibiotics contribute to C. diff

Antibiotics can alter the balance of bacteria in the gut, allowing C. diff bacteria to grow and produce toxins that harm the bowel. People taking antibiotics are 7–10 times more likely to get C. diff.

Isn't that a huge no-no in fundie land?  Like giving away pieces of your heart and why they don't date?

Still laughing at Jill ditching the wedding to do the Gone With the Wind photo shoot only for the whole thing to well, go with the wind.

Another fundie contradiction. It's fine to give away pieces of your heart if it was parentally approved, chaperoned and no bodily fluids were exchanged. It does seem like more mega-families (Bates and Duggars especially) finally did realize that hyping a courtship up as "God's Plan!!!!!" only to have them crash and burn was doing a number on the kids. That's why they slowly moved to a pre-courtship "getting to know you" period (aka dating). Jill isn't going to flex her performative rules for the well-being of her children, though.

Wait until you seen the “lovely” skirt Jill got for Christmas!

I hope Amy hasn’t had to deal with c-did. I had it last spring and was in the hospital for 10 days and lost 15 pounds!  (It was horrible).

I meant c-dif!! (Autocorrect sucks…)

Seen?! Of course I meant see!

It also looks like a tripping hazard.

The skirt is rayon and polyester, so one of the scullery maids might accidentally throw it in the dryer and make it shorter and tighter. It will become a splitting hazard but not a tripping one.

Its fuzzy finish should develop lots of pills along the way too.

Hannah will end up modeling it in the Dreamy Creamy boutique before winter is over.

I can't get over her posting this private note from her husband for everyone to read.  Is nothing between this husband and wife private?

Who can't spell congratulations.  Also who writes a note congratulating their spouse on earning a cruise?

Im gonna laugh if they get downgraded to steerage because she can't keep up her points.

I suspect she's mostly saying that God will give her a miracle and she doesn't need medical assistance to make it happen.  I expect she is still a full code and fully expects that the medical professionals will jump in and save her if she arrests.  And Jesus will fix everything.  Unless she and her husband have signed a Do Not Resuscitate order, she is just referring to this intubation in this particular setting.  Obviously, there is no way to do a bronchoscopy without putting a tube in her throat.

I work in hospice. We have a fair number of people who remain full code (seems to be in the water in one of the counties we serve!). We fully inform them, and some stick with it, while others realize it will not result in them bouncing back and doing a jig. People are (alas) allowed to make decisions that will result in more pain and suffering. . .

How many times is she allowed to give dangerous health advise before her Plexus card gets pulled?  I am so surprised that the Plexus company is not under investigation for product ingredients and false advertising. Jill may be selling product, I would guess the company would be sued if Jill's advise killed someone.  I would think the company would ditch her because she is a legal liability.  Telling people it is safe during pregnancy and for infants and children is dangerous, too.  And people are paying a lot of money for this product. (shakes head)

What's the penalty for impersonating a physician?

Do Curdled Cream boutique sales count as points to win the trip? Ah, too bad. Jill and Dave are going to be very sad if Jill spent so much time hawking awful outfits on Etsy that she neglected her Plexus duties and lost their spot on the cruise. Plexus doesn't like to be ignored.

212,783 views, wow she has a lot of fans. and I don't follow them as I used to. $1000 in sales for her rags is impressive!

Look at it this way, over 200 people had to visit the site before she made a single dollar in sales.  I also expect a lot of the traffic was from snarkers like us, looking to see what crime of fashion she was going to be committing next as well as to see if any of it was actually sold.
