Cosmocrush March 6, 2015 Share March 6, 2015 After catching (and releasing) a few minutes of this mess today I've come to the conclusion that Whoopi is no longer moderating - she's literally holding court at the table with a bunch of ridiculously fake middle school girls who look like adult women. What happened to Perez anyway? Did she finally pack it in? I don't blame her. Even with the sound off this show was a mess - Whoopi's clothes looked like she'd come in from doing some lawn work but took a minute to change into some ridiculous white cartoon pumps. We know this show was taped after another live show so that means she intentionally changed into that getup and can't even blame it on wake, bake and get on camera. The only way I can see myself continuing to turn this mess on again would be for a drinking game - take a shot/drink every time Nicolle says, "I worked in the White House" or "I have a three year old son" but I'd probably pass out before the show ended. 10 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/page/3/#findComment-898263
canter March 6, 2015 Share March 6, 2015 I don't even really care that the show is lame these days -- my viewership has always been spotty at best, and I haven't watched at all since RO left. What bums me out is how sloooow these weekly threads are getting. Whether I watched the show or not, this place has always been a must-read for me, and the weekly threads used to easily clear 200, and sometimes even 300, posts. But now we're barely eeking out 100 posts per week. I guess it just goes to show that whether this show was good or horrific, it had some entertainment value, but now it's just ... boring. There's just nothing to even say about it. Seems like the death knell for a TV show, to me. 12 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/page/3/#findComment-898317

Yes, it's the Whoopi Goldberg hour. And everyone bows down to the queen, while laughing hysterically at her jokes. I haven't watched the whole past week, but I've caught parts of three shows. Looked to me like Whoopi was wearing the same denim shirt each day, but maybe changing up the accessories. It's a trick we all learn to use during times when our "skinny" clothes are too tight, and our "fat' clothes are too bulky. I've done it with a certain black t-shirt dress - wear it with a jacket, next day a big necklace, next day a belt and scarf (yeah, I wash it). Nobody can tell I'm wearing the same dress. But I'm not on TV. After all her back problems, I'd have more respect for Whoopi if she talked about shoes, and how heels are not good for your back, feet, legs, etc, especially as you get past 50. Maybe she could showcase some fabulous flats for a change. Because I am certain that those weird funky high heeled shows she likes to wear on the show are only on her feet for the hour that she's on TV. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/page/3/#findComment-898329

Who would have thought that Whoopi would come out of her coma when RosieO started & be so mean & vindictive? Who would thought that everyone else enlisted as hosts/co-hosts would drink Whoopi's bathwater & worship at her ignert feet? Not me!! I was so fed up with today's show, I switched after Craig Ferguson (love him). 9 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/page/3/#findComment-898428

TheGreenKnight March 6, 2015 Share March 6, 2015 Right canter! I think everyone, including me, is just sick to death of this show giving us hope & then dashing it. I think this is what finally did me in. I pushed myself through the Whoopi/Sherri/Jenny/Barbara year because I could tell everyone was being slowly let go (first Elisabeth, then Joy, then Barbara announcing her last year--I knew Sherri wouldn't last long) and I had hope they were going to do something new with the season after. Then they fired Sherri/Jenny and announced Rosie O was returning, and it seemed like I read all the signs right then. But with where the show is now, I really don't have any hope that could get me to watch long enough to wait for better. I don't think they're going to fire Whoopi and I'm not even confident that they won't ask her to stay once her contract's up either. The names I see them "testing" are uninteresting, not a draw, or tune-out worthy, so I have no expectation that someone good enough to balance out the negative will be cast. I know the show right now won't be getting any better, which helped me to jump ship. I haven't watched it since Rosie O left, and I'm a little surprised I managed to cut it out. It's not like me to quit shows, so I'd expected I would end up coming back eventually after a few days. I'll be honest, I've never been a huge fan of Whoopi. She's given performances I've liked and seemed nice enough, I remember finding her hilarious when she hosted the Tony's, and she liked Disney films/animation just like I do, but she probably garnered the majority of my positive perception because I liked Joy and they were clearly friends off-air unlike, say, Sherri/Elisabeth's pretend friendship (although Sherri did seem sincere about their friendship during her final year, perhaps Elisabeth was the one pretending?). Whoopi was never my draw for this show, she was always a seat filled by someone I didn't find unlikable. I have to admit that I've experience such a shift towards her that, if I were to rank all the co-hosts this show has had, Whoopi would now be at the very bottom for me. Far below Sherri, Elisabeth, and Jenny. This is how much I've turned on her. And I suppose a lot of it has to do with what happened with Rosie O, but I feel I'd have turned just as far if she'd acted the same way to Rosie Perez, for example. Everything about the woman reeks of stupidity and two-faced disingenuousness for me now. 13 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/page/3/#findComment-898769

You'll be surprised at twhat ingredients for cookies, etc. are available. Nicolle asked where you can buy MASON JARS! All the other stuff, you'd find at craft stores, etc. but mason jars can be found anywhere. I wish when they did a craft segment, they would actually show how to make something that was unique, rather than rush through a bunch of stuff, where "you dip the cookie in the yellow, then sprinkle some of this, and put this here , and THERE!" The most detail went into the plant thing - but seriously? "Put paint on a soup can or jar, buy a plant, put the plant in the container. Add an Easter decoration." Ok, but decorating a soup can to make a planter seems like a cub scout project. And it still looks like a soup can! I actually liked Cristella's goofiness during the craft segment. She reacted much like I would. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/page/3/#findComment-899100
maryis1 March 6, 2015 Share March 6, 2015 I watched a bit yesterday and today. Raven-Symone seemed to be unhappy to be there. Not that I would blame her... I do love the guy....the joke he didn't tell as the WH correspondents dinner was very funny. Anyway, no words on anything else - - more yelling, screeching, et.al. Litnit March 7, 2015 Share March 7, 2015 Sorry I missed Craig Ferguson. I can't watch more than 2 minutes of this show anymore. Like many of you have mentioned, Nicolle seems to be a different person. I hate the feigned ignorance. I'm Canadian and I knew about the Chick fil -a fiasco. She can seriously pretend she hasn't heard about these issues? Also, I'm sick to death of hearing about her having a 3 year old, working in the White House etc. etc. The conversation about the female CEO could have been interesting, but it degraded like all into a screech fest. I wish, wish, wish they would try to go back to the original format and have some women with different experiences. Bring on a woman in her 20's. Not a woman my age (late 30's) and call her "the younger voice" because she's not. Just not a comedian who needs to be "on" and producing one-liners every 2 minutes. Somebody starting out, who is reasonably intelligent, and can get a point across. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/page/3/#findComment-899990

I couldn't agree more...they had co-hosts and mods that were smart in the early days....Walters, Viera, Behar, Jones etc. Now we get the likes of Goldberg after BW left and RO left once she woke up from her coma), Shepherd, McCarthy etc.... OTOH Hasselbeck and Wallace were hired for their party lines......EH for her Getty news, and Wallace for her naiveness on somewhat current celebrity culture. Really, having to google Bieber? I am shocked ABC, TPTB and Wolf have allowed this to happen. And Walters and Getty as well of course. All BW could talk about in the last few years were her past accomplishments......and fascination with sex Sorry everyone....got confused on my new laptop and brought up 2 posts in a row..... I can't even imagine how horrible for your back, hips and feet these five and six inch stilettos are - I guess it's a little better if they have a high platform. But when you see people at awards shows actually having to be assisted to claim their awards or walk the red carpet, you know it's reached the level of ridiculousness. There are tons of cute and funky flats that she could be showing off, and perhaps she could even discuss personal orthotics and how much good they can do for you. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/page/3/#findComment-900783

I think this is exactly what ABC wants. GMA and the Today show rarely cover more than a few minutes of news. Welcome to America 2015. I watch the CBS Evening News and the first 12-13 minutes are typically "news". The last 17 minutes are commercials, cute stories that are generally time-insensitive, and the latest internet fad/trend. I used to watch the PBS Newshour often, but now it's become roughly 75% general interest stories that are not really "news". Both programs even air re-runs of stories they previously aired, calling them "a second look" or "re-visiting". Virtually every grocery store sells mason jars made by a brand called Ball that is intended to be used for canning/preserving-- they're in the same section as the kitchen gadgets (that no one actually buys at grocery stores). You'd only notice them if you looked for them. But more importantly, I'm exhausted by all of Nicholle's attempts to show how "out of touch" she is. And I'm sure she thinks it's cute, but it really just enforces the stereotype of Republicans not being able to relate to "regular folk". When she claimed not to know about Chick Fil-A and the CEO's donations to anti-gay marriage organizations, it just made her seem ignorant about current events. Which is probably not a good quality for this gig (as well as the other shows she regularly appears on). kaygeeret March 8, 2015 Share March 8, 2015 In the upper Midwest mason jars are available year round at grocery and hardware stores, but during canning season they are far more prominent - probably because there are more of them for sale, so the demand is there I guess. SanDiegoinExile, I think you really hit the nail on the head. ABC wants light. fluff and laughter, laughter, laughter - or cackling or whatever. As has been mentioned many times here, the producers are smart and savy. They know what the product is and it must be what they want as no effort is make to stop the lunacy. I don't want 60 Minutes, but I would like a skilled moderator, minimally knowledgeable people on the panel regarding topics THEY KNOW are going to be discussed and women with professional media voices, not the screech show we are being subjected to at this time. Fluff is one thing, this show is a whole other category. Of course I prefer the CBS morning show as I find the ABC morning show to be too over the top - too excited, too happy and too fluffy - - a little too screechy as well! Except for the always awesome Robin Roberts, I don't find any of that behavior appealing. It comes across as phony to me. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/page/3/#findComment-904346
