Someone on Tumblr noticed that Dean does not let go of the angel blade in the promo, which I kind of noticed myself upon first watch because I thought Jensen's arm action was weird but I blew it off thinking maybe Dean opted to not throw it. It looks kind of sloppy if it's supposed to be Dean throwing a weapon at someone.  Also, you can see Jensen is wearing a necklace, or maybe it's a mic cord? I don't think it's the amulet necklace because I think it was leather or some kind of heavy cloth. This looks much thinner and it also looks like there is a shiny metal object near Jensen's neck which could be a pendant from his RL necklaces or maybe the button on his jacket. Hard to tell.

Maybe it's an outtake they put in the promo, which they have done before or rather they have had things in the promo that never made it to actual air.  I dunno, this seems like something they wouldn't have in the episode given you can see Dean is not throwing the item and you can see what I think is Jensen's RL necklace.

What do you guys think?

Also, that's the painting from the SPNTapeBall pic with Jensen holding a cup of coffee from Chuck Wagon Donuts so that was from 13.2 if Jason Fischer's tweet is a marker of their production schedule.

My first thought was that he was throwing it at Jack, but Jack's powers stopped him from releasing it

Looks like Dean's 'give a shit' about being stealthy is at an all time low.

That doesn't seem particularly unusual for Dean. He's kind of always told the people who need to know what they do, i.e. cops, victims  once there is a reason to tell them which seems to be the case since it looks like Dean is telling the person or at least someone who is dressed like the person Jackifer tosses around in the promo. Seems like it's in line with what Dean has done before. Need to know basis and all that.

Could be. I don't recall red paint in the lake house, but then I didn't look at it that closely so it could be the lake house. Maybe Dean is wearing different clothes because he  decided to shower and change after doing whatever they do with Cas' body.

What do you make of the chain around Dean's neck?

There was a rumor that Jack is supposed to get away from Sam and Dean.  Maybe this is after they catch up with him again.

The chain.  Maybe its Jensen's necklace.  He said Danneel gave him one that he wears all the time when he travels.

Right that's why I mentioned before that Jensen has 2 necklaces that he wears IRL, but I don't think Jensen would keep it on during filming just like he doesn't wear his wedding ring. The necklace would possibly be seen on camera and if Dean isn't wearing a necklace I don't know why Jensen would. Especially if he's doing action scenes.

I thought maybe those picks of Jackifer with the camel colored jacket was just random but now he's in a camel colored suit coat similar to Cas coat and now it seems intentional and I'm a little offended by it. Show, Jackifer is not a replacement for Castiel.  And yes, I can see where maybe Jackifer is modeling himself after Cas on some level, and the Destiel shipper in me would find it amusing if Dean took him shopping and was like 'Here wear this coat and this tie" and he's not really conscious that he's directing him to Cas like clothing but still...this bugs me.

And it seems like this was during the filming of 13.06 so I think Jackifer, Cas, Dean and Sam must be filming together. But maybe not. They are all being interviewed together or rather on the same day.

I'm more and more sure it's because Cas is in some way Jack's daddy.   Literal OR not.

ETA: That's why I'm wondering if it's a mistake in editing. Maybe I'm just looking for anyway for it to not be the amulet again LOL :/

I can't see it being the amulet.  With the direction they're supposedly taking Dean's character it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.  He's supposed to have his walls up and be freezing everyone out.  Putting on the amulet seems contradictory to that.

When we see Dean he usually has a round neck black t with an unbuttoned shirt over it.    It that photo it looks like an open neck Henley so its possible the camera caught a bit of Jensen's necklace.  It happened in Children Shouldn't Play with Dead things, when Dean had the v-neck tee-shirt on.  YOu could see a glimpse of the chain.

If it is the amulet the only reason for Dean to have it on is to connect with God in some way.  Other than that I can't see how else it could be used.

Dean wore jewelry in s2. He had the ring, bracelets, and I think even another necklace aside from the amulet. And we have seen Jensen in henleys and nothing else (NEKKID!) and there was no sign of a necklace that I saw. I'm just saying that if it is Jensen's necklace, well color me surprised that he would wear one during filming given it could be seen on screen.  Who knows!

HOLY CRAP, JENSEN!

He did this stunt himself. I mean yes the car isn't traveling that fast, but JEEZ he's in front of an oncoming car! YIKES.

I'm seeing scuttlebutt on Twitter and Tumblr that Jackifer's last name... is......Morningstar...

If that is the case:

Really, Dabb? You couldn't be more  original than that? Also, the lead character in Lucifer on Fox is named Lucifer Morningstar.

Look I KNOW the MORNINGSTAR reference is biblical etc, but seriously given the existence of Lucifer on Fox, couldn't you have done better??

Why isn't his surname Klein after Kelly? I wonder, within the show, who will come up with that surname for him.

At first I thought they were filming a scene where Dean gets hit by a car.   But on rewatch it looks like the car stops in time and Dean continues his chase.

Yeah, I think that's what happened. It's still surprising that the show is willing to let Jensen stand in front of an oncoming car.I mean all it takes is one mistake by the driver and/or Jensen and he could be hit by the car.  Even at low speed there is risk for injury. Color me shocked the show let him do this.

Oh, I've been complaining about the music on the show for a while now, but I think that comment was actually one made by @catrox14 about the "singing" promo poster. If you click on the image you'll see what she'd talking about. It actually reminds me of cheesy '80s horror movie music, which actually makes me smile.

"In the meantime, Sam and Dean remain in the real world, where things are only slightly less bleak. Sure, they don't know about Michael yet, but they do know that they've lost Crowley, their mother, and Castiel, the latter of whom Dabb says will reappear--though maybe not how fans are expecting.  "The support structure they spent years building up got ripped apart," Dabb says.  "We want to give them time to react to that." As they always do, Sam and Dean will react differently. When it comes to Lucifer's son, Jack , Dean wants nothing to do with him, while Sam thinks he's worth trying to save. (Sam also refuses to give up on their mother despite Dean having lost hope that she's still alive.)

"Dean doesn't believe in anything at the moment," Ackles says. Needles to say, he's not in the best mindset to parent a half-angel, half-human teenager, who by the way is moving in with the Winchesters. "I think my line the other day was Adventures in Babysitting the Anti-Christ", Ackles says. "Dean is not the most loving surrogate father in the world and would like nothing better than to suffocate this thing that is in the backseat of the car". **

Yet Jack's not even close to the biggest threat the Winchesters will face. With the apocalypse world, hanging over the brothers, the biggest question is who and what could step through the rift and into their world. But surely nothing could be worse than Lucifer...right? ---***

Samantha Highfill.

*This makes me worry for Cas all over again. I don't think he's going to be our Cas and I think he might have another reset and memory wipe. I dunno. I'm concerned.

What support structure? Mary did fuck all for the boys when she came back, betrayed them, and almost got Cas killed and had to be saved by them. She offered no emotional support to them either not even at the end. I'm assuming Dabb is referring purely to Castiel, with a tiny dollop of Crowley helping when it suited him.

** Dean giving up on Mary is still ludicrous unless he's just in shock. It makes no sense for Dean's character.Maybe Sam has hopes for Mary, given Dean coming back from Purgatory when he had given up on him. Also, why are they saying Jack is a teeanager? He better be 18 cause he looks 25. LOL

Jackifer is not the Anti-Christ. Why is the show writing that line? Why mention the Anti-Christ in a show were they already have one and his name is Jesse and he's somewhere in the world, probably Australia. Grrr. More retcon.

** I thought the rift closed via Crowley's spell and death. Guess not. Unless they know how to open a rift from the other side. So her being trapped is really not as trapped as the made it seem.

Pet peeve re the tweet below. Jackifer is not their  adopted son nor even their surrogate son. He's not even an orphan! Lucifer isn't dead. They know Lucifer is alive in the other dimension. I mean I know WHY and who is pushing that, but just stop it.

I am ZERO worried about Cas regardless of how Dabb is trying to vaguely troll us.   Misha has said Cas and the boys are on the same side and on the same page and Misha has said this season Cas finally is totally accepting that he is part of the family with the boys.

This all clearly showing we get our Cas back not a different Cas.  At most Cas gets an initial reset but you know they do this with Cas, Sam and Dean at times--any big change DOES NOT stick.  In the end as Misha is telling us with how Cas feels and how he acts WITH the boys--we get OUR Cas back.  NO WORRIES.  But if want to worry, worry--there is just no need for it.

I wonder if it's less Dean wants nothing to do with something supernatural or simply just that Dean wants nothing to do with the spawn of the guy who just killed his best friend and pulled his mother into a different universe? I mean, I could see Dean being like, "I don't care if he's evil or not, I just don't want to be around him right now."

I guess for me it doesn't seem in character for Dean to not try to utilize/coerce/manipulate the resources at hand, in this case being Jack to fix it.

You also have to differentiate between what is quoted and what Highfill says--she's the one who calls Jack a teenager and rephrases what Dabb says about Cas's  return...so she's not as exact as the quotes are.

It doesn't really matter in the end how much Sam "Samaplains" if somehow Jackifer either 1) ends up becoming evil (good intentions don't always count as this show is fond of reminding us), 2) he's a ticking time bomb because he can't control his powers, or 3) somehow Lucifer is "bonded" to him in some way (in that Lucifer can find out things through him, knows he's alive, can use Jackifer to get back, Jackifer is a reason for Lucifer to come back, any of the above). Any or all of those things are possible and would make Jackifer a threat, and Sam can explain all he wants, but Dean would be justified in seeing Jackifer as a potential threat. And I wouldn't be surprised if the show sets things up to make it seem like Dean is being a little hard-headed, but things go spectacularly wrong and Sam is once again wrong. I'll actually be surprised if Sam is somehow right about Jackifer - that will surprise the heck out of me.

As for Dean "giving up" on people, I'm wavering on that. Dean does tend to give up sometimes when he's depressed. He gave up on Sam for quite a while in season 5. He gave up on Castiel at the beginning of season 7. I'm guessing that there will likely be something that convinces him that Mary is dead - some "evidence" we didn't see in the finale - and so maybe it's not as far-fetched as it sounds like? It also could be that Dean - rightly - would consider the risk of poking the rift not to be the best idea unless he was sure that Mary has a good chance of being alive. Otherwise the risk would be too great. That would actually track, because Sam does tend to be overly optimistic and go gung-ho forward without thinking about the consequences unfortunately.

My prediction is overly-optomistic Sam wants to save Mary and something goes wrong via Jackifer and bam! rift is sporadically reopened and bad things happen. *sigh*

I think it's not going to be as straight forward as "Dean thinks that Mary is dead" the end. I'm thinking it's more going to be Dean thinks there's a good possibility that Mary is dead AND it's a really bad idea to go poking the alternate universe, because bad things could happen for what is likely a slim chance, Sam. And then a rift opening is that bad thing... I hope not, but that's my prediction.

And he didn't just give up on Castiel. He was actively seeking to be the cause of his Death, as shown when he ordered Death to kill Cas rather than asking if there was a way to save him. I find myself rolling my eyes at Dean's "grief" this rewatch because Dean would have been Cas' indirect murderer if he had his way.

I don't really see these as the same thing.  In s5 the situation seemed hopeless.  They experienced the loss of one battle after another and Dean become convinced that that saying yes was the only way to win the war.   In s7, Dean saw Cas die.  He also kept the trench coat as a sign of hope so he didn't give up completely.

All he saw was Mary disappear into a purgatory like world.   He knows its possible to survive something like that.

The very core of Dean Winchester is "you don't give up on family."  So for Dean to just give up on family strikes at the very heart of of who the character is.

As for Jack, I'm pretty sure he's going to be the key to ending both Michael and Lucifer mostly thanks to Sam's influence.

I predict they talk the Spawn (I'm sorry, I just can't type smooshed up names...I just can't) into trying to reopen it and they cause a whole other host of problems and that's why Dean decides they need to leave it alone and accept Mary is gone to them. I mean, this would actually be the grown up thing for them to do, IMO.

Yes I don't think this will destroy Dean as a character--if he's in a depressed state it can be understandable.  Yes depends on how they do it.   It's not automatically bad.

I'm not really sure the writers are going to put much effort into it.  At comic con, which was based on the first few episodes, Dabb just mentioned that Dean thought Mary was dead and he wanted Jack dead.  It was Jensen who talked about Dean shutting down.  Jensen tends to put more thought into these things.

There wasn't much evidence of of it in the preview.  Maybe we'll see more once we get a longer one.

But I'm mostly expecting grumpy Dean rather than grieving Dean.

Interesting over at Tree Topper they have BTS photos on set with the J's, Misha and Jack.  If they are dressed for shooting(not sure if they are) then Cas is wearing something different...a blue suit.

I should have been more specific. I was talking about when Castiel absorbed all of the purgatory souls. Dean just wrote Castiel off as a lost cause and gave up on him. Yes, after Castiel disappeared, Dean did keep his coat. They had had a moment to somewhat reconcile before that.

But I got the impression that Dean pretty much thought that Cas was dead then also, even though there wasn't necessarily a body just the coat. We didn't see or hear of Dean actively looking for Castiel or anything like that. He seemed to accept that Castiel just exploded and perished. To be fair though, I'm pretty sure Sam thought Castiel was dead also.

To be fair, when you see someone oozing black goo, grinning and saying "Cas is gone. He's dead.  We run the show now!" and then wading into a reservoir which then explodes into black ooze, I think it's easier to accept that they're really gone, even without a body.  OTOH, if someone who had been perfectly fine just disappears, either without a trace (ie, Dean into Purgatory) or into someplace they've already been and know it's survivable (ie, Mary into the Rift) I'd say they should still be holding out hope and might try to look.  JMO.
