If this photo can't make them get on board for Michael!Dean, nothing will. I, on the other hand, would happily live under his reign as rightful king of the universe and worship him accordingly.

I respect other's opinions of course.  But they're too loud (or I'm following the wrong people) and they're including The Powers in their tweets.  It's the group that wants the brothers joined at the hip all the time.  They don't want just Dean back, they want Dean back hunting alongside Sam.

Thing is - with some imaginative writing we could still have 'our'  Dean in the Michael/Dean SL.  We could witness the inner struggles going on between them, things like that.  Both actors (Jensen & Christian if they can get him back) have charisma and presence.

But I guess season 14 will be status quo all the way.  Paint by number.... it's safe.

Agree.

As much as I love Dean, between this pic and the audio clip I wouldn't mind a whole season of Jensen playing Michael with occasional glimpses of Dean.  But I know that won't happen.  Such wasted potential because the writers are too afraid to take a risk.

As I've said with Kaia and Jody supposedly in the episode that starts filming today, I'm guessing they can't have a wayward episode without Dean for...reasons.

It's really got me excited.  I don't want to wish my summer away - but Holy Cow! I can't wait to see what he does with Michael.  He's putting his heart and soul into it.  Jensen gives 110% to everything he does.  Mostly because he loves his craft and loves a challenge.

The BrosOnly fans. No comment here, but I left my thoughts on them in a post in the Bitterness thread a few days ago and I still stand by it and now more than ever.

I SO! wish they would release that clip from Comic Con. I don't know what they're waiting for. :-/

I'm in the middle--it will be great to see Jensen do Michael/Dean for a strong 6,7 episodes then i'd like the best character back full-time after.  Best of both worlds.  And I think that is what we will get Jensen as Michael for around 6 episodes live--plus later flashbacks.

If we really get Mean for 6-7 episodes (and not just in flashbacks), I will eat my hat, right after I toss it in the air whilst jumping for joy. I truly hope you are right.

Oy, the things I'd do for that archangel. *le sigh*

ETA: I just keep studying that photo, looking for signs of Dean, any version of Dean, and I cannot detect it.

Or even Jensen because that doesn't look like Jensen just posing for a pic like he did with Misha in Tombstone in front of the Impala. This looks only like Michael or rather AU Michael and no one else. I don't get an Alec McDowell vibe from it (his character from Dark Angel) nor  Jason Teague(his character from Smallville).  Nor Tom from My Bloody Valentine.

And thinking about his voice work, he doesn't sound like any other character he's played.  Dammit, Jensen.  You keep me hanging to this show! Stop it! (No don't stop)

They will need Dean back as Dean for the first MOTW episode of the season I guess?  No way these writers are gifted enough to have Michael pretending he's Dean (they did the spell and all that..) and Sam being kinda suspicious.  It could be entertaining and a field day for Jensen's acting talents.  Is he cured? Is Michael out? The audience isn't spoon fed for once. But my money is on another purgatory Dean format.  Bro hugs and flashbacks.

As for the tweets, well, I`m not convinced they would be there if the shoe was on the other foot but I`m not surprised. Besides, the decision when Dean will be back has already been made. The episode will already have been filmed by the time they start airing the Premiere so it`s not like tweeting it to writers or producers makes a difference.

He is so Handsome in that pic and in the most classic sense of that word.

But in case we do a pool, I'm placing my official guess now-2 episodes of live Mean and the rest in flashbacks over the first 6(7, if we're lucky) episodes and then back to the same old, same old.

IOW, I think they caved to that one segment of fandom already and once the ink was dry on the Js new contracts.

Still as gonzosgirl said, I too would never be happier  to be wrong about something.

My pool guess is 3.99 eps of Mean with Dean showing up at the very end of Ep 3 and appearing in full in EP 4.  I don't think the MoTW ep requires Dean because that is a chance for Jack to hunt with Sam and since Jack has no powers what else is he going to do?

The first 7 scripts are written.  Whatever they intend to do with the first 7 scripts they've already done.  Now it's possible they could completely rewrite but a little grumbling on-line won't be enough.  Jensen, IMO, has much more influence than they do.

Speaking of which:
- I sat at a table at Wayward Cocktails at SDCC because I new ONE person there better than I knew anyone else.  As the night lingered on it turned out there were two tables... I, being socially inept at this, didn't realize until after that I was at the "Wincest" table and the other table was "Destiel".  Now, we didn't TALK Wincest, but I got this intel after the fact.  I was just the rube with no agenda.  Point being, two of the women were later at the Warner Brother's party on Friday. So, if they were going to lobby, that was the moment.  But I think they are not stupid so I suspect they just visited with small talk.

As for seeing the clip - it was an episode scene -- not like a sizzle real or "shaving people, punting things" clip.  Something you might see a reduced version of the in the week of the episode release.  The only other way I suspect it will come out is if they put it on a "special feature" for iTunes subscribers (to encourage subscription).  In which case someone is likely to pirate it and put it on youtube.  That would be late September is my guess.

ETA: I think we get Michael!Dean til EP 7 with flashbacks to help. Rowena is supposed to have a big Episode 7, she's supposed to be pivotal to Dean's escape.  Seems to match in my mind.

Yes we agree Michael/Dean to 6 or 7.  Eugenie at a table interview was asked about the "tone" of the season and she mentioned tension, uncertainty and mystery for first 6 episodes and an interviewer threw in you mean with Dean as Michael--Eugenie shook her head a definite YES.  She SPECIFICALLY mentioned 6 episodes.  Also about MOTW--another interview it was brought up about the bigger supporting cast this year and was mentioned that it's built up to where we can send Charlie, Bobby, Mary etc on hunting missions for a chunk of SOME episodes while the rest would be with our  be our regulars doing their thing...so MOTW will be done without Dean/Sam for a while if needed.  And add to all that we are not going to get bearded, leader Sam in flashbacks and the same with Dean in mirror and in minds--much more probable those done in live action.  So I see 6 episodes to 7 pretty strongly.

PS--did not know about the Rowena bit in episode 7...fits in well with what i'm thinking.

.  Ideally I would love 6 live episodes and then 3-4 episodes of flashbacks.  With the cliff hanger revolving around MichaelDean.

My expectations are 2 live, and 3-4 episodes of flashbacks.

Today is the start of filming for episode 3, so I guess we'll get a clue at our first glimpse of Jared.

Mine too. 2 live action and 4 flashbacks still fits with the "6 episodes of mystery" spoiler. In fact, for flashbacks to make even the slightest sense because the tension has been removed from the story once Dean is Dean, you need some kind of mystery.

Jason Fischer posts a quote of the day along with what scenes are being filmed.

Here is the quote he used on the last day of filming ep 2.

This is the one he used for today.

I do know that sometimes a quote is just a quote but the two of them together do suggest saving Dean.

Supposedly from what I surmise/intuit the flashbacks(at least a big portion of them) will be Dean with his post-trauma recalling what evil Michael did while using his body--so it would work fine after 6 episodes of live Michael/Dean.

I hope it`s more than that and will tie into the plot. And that the character of Dean is still badass once he is back.  While I will welcome any and all snippets of Michael!Dean acting-wise, I`m just not interested in flashbacks just for angst. I`m so sick of angst-for-angst-sakes scenes as they IMO have completely overdone it on the show.  There is character exploration and there is what SPN does and I`m flat-out over it.

Yeah, I don't want too much angst--but if Dean has to deal with it while still being himself otherwise with his full personality including his humor...then I think it can work.  About the 2 quotes--meh, I don't see any clear meaning from them myself...could apply to many things.

Some things I liked and some I didn't.

It does sound like Sam is being promoted as the new leader and this is going to be a major thing this season.

It sounds like they're trying to pretend AU Bobby and our Bobby are the same.  Sam and Dean really don't need that father figure/mentor type person.  Especially if they're going to write new Bobby the same as old Bobby.

I do want to know what Dean's child hood passion is that they are referring too.

I do like that no one is going to be driving the Impala.   It's Dean's car and its only right that he should drive it.

The stuff about the show going small and it being ground in emotion is how Dabb described the last two seasons.  I'm not sure Lucifer's spawn and a whole other world is small.  It sounds once again so much stuff is planned nothing will really get proper focus.

I'd still rather they concentrate on telling one or two stories well rather then trying to plan a separate story line for every character.  Then it becomes a jumbled mess.

So a Bukowski quote and a Poe quote-those are two pretty dark individuals. I would love it if the two "eternities of darkness" that Dean is caught between are AUMichael and CageMichael. I would give my eye teeth for this storyline for Dean in S14-especially if the season-long plan includes promoting Sam into the leadership role amongst the AU hunters as Dabb stated in that Digital Spy article.

And yes, some of the stuff in that article sounded intriguing to me, too-while other stuff sounded just like more of the same and completely predictable ie., the Charlie stuff that sounded cringe worthy to me, the Bobby stuff that sounds old and moldy because ITA that the brothers no longer need a mentor and Bobby was a pretty terrible one after S3 anyway, IMO. Cas and Jack is predictable also, but that WAS more of how that storyline was originally set-up until the my 3 dads business came along in the earlt part of S13, which makes it appear that they're going in a type of reversal route there in that Jack learned more about his human half when he had powers and now he'll likely do the whole clueless angel thing more while he's without them.  IDK, it just feels like they're re-purposing similar Cas storylines to fit Jack with Cas simply in the mentor role this time and I'm sure  that tumblr and twitter will go gaga over that.

But the Dean and Mean stuff was tops on my list as well as that article's-I just can't trust these writers and producers, though, so it's just waiting game again and while Mean being around longer than we think sounds good on paper, I can still only remember what came out of  Comic Con on that last day which to me bodes more of just another premature exit of a potentially awesome Dean/JA myth-arc storyline in favor of the dreaded emo-only stuff(again and some more). Man, I hope I'm wrong about that because it sounds to me as if Dean isn't allowed the central myth-arc role going forward, then he's just going to be relegated to the sidekick/clown role again as he was in S12-and that's my biggest fear of all for Dean in S14.

Trying to keep my head out of the clouds and my feet on the ground in that regard, predominantly because of Singer, Dabb, and co.-which is too bad because I know that JA is going to kill it as Michael for however long he gets to portray him and that most recent pic of Mean is To-Die-For Beautiful and intriguing beyond words to this fan.

I'm going to try to steer clear of too many spoilers this season to see if that helps in my enjoyment.  I honestly think they do give too much away on this show.  Jensen does look great as Micheal, but I'm not sure about the whole "flashback" thing.  This show does too many flashbacks, and doesn't do them all that well, I don't think.  I'd rather the story just played out over the course of 6 or 7 weeks, and then Dean can be rescued.  Since everyone looked beaten up in those pictures, I'm guessing they've had a run in with Dean/Michael already.

Have no issues with the larger cast.  My guess is that was part of the J's negotiations.  Larger cast equals less scenes for them, plus 3 less episodes equates to even more time off.  I'd like to believe this will tighten up our story a bit, but I'm leery of all things Dabb.

With SDCC now complete, combined with the rhetoric of going much longer I think it’s evident S14 is NOT the last year.  At least not in the mind of WBTV and I strongly suspect not in the mind of the CW.  Jensen mentioned the season length being a bit of a negotiation/balance between reducing time and providing enough content for the network.  So it sounds like ‘20’ works well for everyone.

I also think the boys have a contract for BOTH S14 and S15.   They’ve done two year contracts in the past. It provides stability for WBTV for them to develop a two-year arc (which matches Singer’s comment about room to grow a story). And it gives lead time for them to make a decision during S14 if S15 is the end.

I remain firmly convinced the final season will be super hyped. And why not?  Tons of free press.  Lots of speculative stories in the end.  So, baring some terrible crash in the ratings, I think S15 is a given and they’ll decide in November- February (at the latest) whether or not 15 is the ‘last’ so they can hype it at Upfronts.

Jared has mentioned S15 a few times in cons this year.  I think definitely at least 2 more seasons.  I don't know is there another goal beyond 300 that they might be aiming for?

Oh was that a spoiler?  I posted it in media.

He also said essentially that SPN lives or dies by Jensen and Jared.  Dabb has now bungled two attempts at a spinoff.  I don't think it can't be done it just needs to be done by someone else.  Clearly Dabb isn't very good at it.  But I'm sure we will be watching it anyway this season.  It will just be called Supernatural instead of Wayward Sisters.

Per Pedowitz, it's the J's are key to SPN and the problem isn't Dabb.  Of course I'm aware that some here blame Dabb for all but to me that's wildly overblown.  He's done a good job overall imo though not perfect.  I've liked the last 2 seasons easily.

The problem with the two spinoffs IMO was Dabb.  He didn't do a very good job with either episode.  Pedowitz used the same language to decline on both attempts.  Bloodlines was bloody awful (again IMO) and WS wasn't much better.  Also the ratings for WS were not very good.  The built in fanbase didn't buy into it.

As far as Supernatural goes Dabb has done what he had to do.  The ratings are acceptable and the J's are happy.

As far as I'm concerned, Dabb's attention has been turned toward his Wayward spin-off and his own, pet characters since he took over the show. My opinion? He probably thought the end of SPN was nigh and he was planning toward that end. Honestly, with two failures under his belt, I'm disappointed surprised he didn't quit. Guess his pride isn't as important as his bank account. Sorry (not sorry), I just have that little respect for him.
