It is always fun to see the BC folks getting snow. We do laugh. But it is with good will. I did see some tweets from Chilliwack that showed the ice sheets from the freezing rain. Tough for everyone. The extreme cold warning has been lifted here and hopefully the temps will go to the plus side next week. The cold has been brutal and a houseguest that does not want to leave.

See, 95% of BC gets the typical Canadian winter. I know, I lived up north for a couple of years, where -45 was standard and you got a block heater installed. But us softies on the coast aren't used to it (IT'S A WET COLD!) so it definitely makes news when it hits. And it sure is more often than not now...

  Yesterday I slept so much.
the one good thing about isolation was I did not need to worry about driving in this mess today.  My history
Haven’t felt well in a while.   Was having issues with asthma and a cold that would not go away.  Even though I had a  negative  Covid test my doctor refused to see me.  The receptionist said either I could do a video chat or cancel the appointment those were my choices.  I told them I wasn’t happy because she couldn’t listen to my chest or anything.  So I did a video chat and they told me I had bronchitis and prescribed meds.
Now I am in isolation because I was in close contact with someone who had tested positive.   I have a test scheduled for Sunday but at this moment I can’t even imagine having to go outside and clean off my car.  I just have no energy no appetite and my chest hurts.

My Covid test came back negative but positive for flu.  I finally was able to see a doctor.  She said I was dehydrated and very congested.  Prescribed some meds which helped. Having this time off helped a lot as Well as I got a lot of rest.
  Finally had appetite back today.
back to work tomorrow

thanks for listening

Glad you are feeling better.

For the first time in about a month, we finally made it to the plus side of 0C/32F. It felt like spring, Possibly another visit to the deep freeze next week. Hope to enjoy the week.

Still a bit of cough and congestion left over. I think part is the extreme cold and once things settle, this bug should be gone.

I am soooo envious of this pic! I want snow!! Is it too much to ask the universe ?? Come on, I live in Michigan for the love of god!!
On the other hand,

@tribeca and @Frozendiva

Good to hear you’re both on the mend and hope it keeps up!
I was off 2 weeks (unpaid) because of a positive Covid (thanks co-workers!), and still feel tired, fuzzy headed and unbalanced. That was 2 months ago.

Covid is not going away. Just like the Flu, a SARS virus, it’s here to stay.

I just don’t understand why Science can’t get a handle on it.
it’s exhausting and depressing thinking about it. So I’ve stopped following the “news”.

I just want snow and wish everyone health an happiness this year ❤️

I'm still feeling a bit tired and my legs were sore today. My cough is pretty minor and is probably due to dry air and the last dregs of the virus. What might help me is a main floor humidifier.  With the extreme cold I have been indoors, no open windows and furnace air. The temperature swings have been extreme. We also had rain today and possibly freezing rain tomorrow morning, which we don't need.

At least those of us who have been sick are starting to feel better.

I do have a snow pic of my front lawn, but it is too big to upload to here.

Love that pic.❤️❤️
Hate, though, that you have to take care of shoveling , etc. I wouldn’t be able to do it!!

Temperature  swings have been horrible here, as well. The wind  and freezing rain is the worst.

Hope everyone continues to stay safe and healthy!

It rained again today. Third time since last Wednesday. Rain, freezing rain, more pouring rain, and then the cold front came in. Twenty degree C drop in temps, high winds, rain turned to snow and blowing snow. I would prefer the 30-50 cm of snow that hit Ontario today.

That is the worst weather, especially at this time of year, but it happens unfortunately. Walk carefully outside, preferably with crampons.

Snow is pretty when it falls in other places!

About half the month has been average or above average temps, giving a freeze and thaw cycle. Many sidewalks and parking lots are ice sheets. I drive to get my mail - less than 100 feet to the community mailbox.

We did experience the unusual phenomenon of snow rollers.

Is anyone watching Pam& Tommy on Hulu? What a trip! Surprised there is no forum for it here.

I watched it. It's kinda right up my alley with being so stupid, silly, and badly written plus Sebastian Stan, but it didn't really do anything for me. I'll still watch it though lol.

When network is it on?

I don’t know how they decide what shows get forms.  I requested a show once.  Was asked to come up with better names or something and felt awkward.

It’s on the Hulu streaming app.
I hate when there is a forum and it’s for the entire season all at once and not broken up into each episode so you have to wait till you finish the whole series to read & post and by then it’s so late.

Same! Was just reading an article about how they transform the actors. And was surprised to learn that the actresses breasts are fake, it’s a breast plate. As is Tommy’s schlong of course 🤣

Super off topic but, given the news in Ukraine and the uncertainty of what happens in the days to come, I wanted to say how much I like chatting with everyone here and hope we get to do it for a long time to come. I hope everyone's relatives in Europe are safe and that this nightmare ends peacefully somehow.

Seconded. Interacting on this board with this group was a silver lining to all the isolation and confusion, especially in 2020. There are two places on the internet I enjoy coming to for a distraction and this is one of them. (The other is a particular fashion blog. I'm not sure we can link.)

My two favorite boards are here and 90 Day Fiancé. I show up on others including the Star Trek shows, some stuff on the CW, HBO, etc.

I probably have some cousins in Ukraine. After my parents died when I was in my teens and mid twenties, they stopped communication. I hope they are okay.

Fool’s spring is over and we got another 12-20 cm dump of snow. What had melted is now just as tall as pre-melt. The days are getting longer and soon there will be 12 hours of daylight.

Just got back from Florida.  Dad had surgery on his leg and hopefully they were able to save it (agent orange).
Dad kept apologizing for ruining my vacation.  Told him I am not working or in 13 degree weather lol.
Mom is okay but she fell one night and bruised her shoulder and back.   She said it was hard to take her bra off.  She asked Dad but said that got him to excited.  Next we will talk about boundaries lol.

Wow, lots of stress.  It sounds like you're able to maintain a good attitude though.

The eastern Bluebirds arrived today. The male is brilliant blue. Lovely to look at. A pair of tree swallows also arrived. We have 3 nesting boxes and the 2 species are trying to claim them for themselves. The bluebirds are rather aggressive in claiming all 3, however I’m sure they will work things out eventually as they have in the past. Last year the first box was occupied by black-capped chickadees, the middle one by the tree swallows and the third by the bluebirds. So happy that things are coming back to life.

I tried to work overnights at a different store.  Just trying to save money.   Not attractive enough for a sugar daddy and not smart enough for a good paying job.
The over nights did not go well.  The supervisor was had his job for a long time and expected everyone to know everything he did.   One night I took to long to do a task.  I was working the whole time but was just not fast enough.  He said he had to control himself. He took a bunch of deep breath and said he really wanted to go off on me.
the next night I drove half way there and got sick to my stomach.  Turned around and went home.  Decided my health was more important

Went to visit elderly friends Saturday.   They asked me to make a bet on Kentucky derby 🐎 and bring them with subway.  They use to to casino with son and grandson but said it is too much walking now.  Grandson offered to get them a scooter but they felt it would still be too much.  They are 85 and 86 so they are starting to slow down.
She texted me a bunch of stuff in morning and said bet $2 on number 12 I want to strike it rich.   Husband also wanted to Dunkin’ coffee.  No donut.
Tried get in touch with her because 21 was rich strike and 12 was her favorite jockey.  Wanted to make sure I bet on the right one.  Could not get in touch with her so just put $2 on 12 and $2 on 21.
21 was 80-1. It paid $163.00. So her husband said next race he gets a donut and a whole sandwich from subway 😂

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here I go. Jensen Ackles, fka Eric Brady, has been cast as the new sheriff for season 3 of Big Sky. He will be making his first appearance in this role on the season 2 finale next Thursday, 19 May on ABC or CTV, depending on where you are. Don't know if anyone has watched the show, but don't tune in with expectations of high drama. I find it to be really cheesy but entertaining nonetheless.

We have a new assistant manager who just isn’t a good fit.  I always got a weird vibe from her but was not sure why.
We have posters and things posted on employee website how are company is for diversity.  When one of the staff member wanted to decorate the break room for pride month she said no we having a cooperate visit and she did not think it was appropriate.
so we went over her head and asked are district manager who very enthusiastically said yes decorate all you want.
Later someone confided in my that the same manager refused to use the pronoun them and said it was stupid.  She also made comments about another coworkers weight.
They are afraid to go to HR about this.  You can do it anonymously but let’s be serious there is no anonymously anymore.

HR protects the company and not the workers. It is rarely your friend. If there is a more senior HR, try that.

True but people do sometimes forget that protecting a worker and protecting the company can often align.  I'm not sure in this case but it does happen.

And they're often only given the power afforded to them.  If someone is facing discrimination and HR tells the manager or higher ups that it's illegal and could lead to a lawsuit, the higher ups can ignore the advice and wait for the lawsuit.  There's no much HR can do in that instance.

Dear Oracle of DOOL, I need advice. We live where people have some land, anywhere from 1 acre and up. All single family houses. Right next door to us a youngish couple who bought a house that is old and decrepit and also designated as heritage so not much can be done with it. The big attraction of the house is that it sits on 2 acres, fenced. Right after they moved in last year they had a big party, understandable. Loud voices and music and then fireworks at 2 am which rattled a few of the neighbors. I heard thru the vine that someone made a complaint. No more parties after that until...they told another neighbor that they will be having a big all night blow out party with fireworks in a couple of weeks. Not looking forward to a sleepless night. What to do?

I don't know where you live, but out here in California fireworks are a big no no due to fire danger.  If it's the same where you are,  then I'd call the cops at the first sign of them.  Where we're at, it seems that big nighttime parties happen every weekend.  We've had to resign ourselves to it, close up the house and put in ear plugs. Good luck.
