She's both! Born a princess, then worked her way up to being a General.

Hardly, they gave both Han Solo and Lando the General title back in Return of the Jedi. I always thought changing her title to General in TFA was a dumb move on Abrams part.

So sad about Carrie Fisher :-(

I was at her panel at Star Wars Celebrations this summer and I was so happy to be there! (it was also very funny)

Princess Leia has been my inspiration since I was a child as she proved that women could be kind and badass and leaders in movies and I wanted to be like her!

Really sad. 2016 sucks and needs to end soon

A lot can happen in 20 years. And even in the original trilogy I saw more of her in the role of military strategist/soldier than diplomat anyway.

Yes, she was and she was Princess Leia. I just don't buy that she "worked her way up" to General when they gave the title out willy nilly 20 years ago. Especially since she started ANH as Senator and Princess of Alderaan

Why should she not have earned the title just because it was an honorific for others? I dont follow that reasoning.

Because she was already above the title way back in ANH. Princess Leia in ANH was Senator, Ambassador, AND Rebel leader. Making her "General Leia" in TFA was beneath her. Especially since the military were taking orders from her and deferring decisions to Princess Leia way back in ESB.

BTW it wasn't honorific for others. Han Solo and Lando were given the title in RotJ because they were leading small contigents/troops.

For me, she is, was and will always be Princess Fucking Leia, the youngest member of the Imperial Senate, an Active member and leader of The Rebellion from the time she was 16 (Rebels, Force Unleashed, EU, etc). A warm, loving, strong, intelligent, loyal, bossy, leader and idealist. A woman who stood up to Darth Vader armed with nothing but her wit and self confidence. A woman who defied Grand Moff Tarkin on his own Death Star, etc etc Etc.

How about General Princess Leia?

It's terribly selfish of me to be happy that she finished filming her part in the next movie already.  But on the other hand, at least that means I don't have to completely say goodbye to her yet.

I'll be honest, I don't really get the shippers of everything, lol.

Same. I don't understand multi shippers at all. Like I have shipped one pairing and been able to appreciate a character from that pairing with another character. But I've never gotten the whole shipping a character with everyone who breathes including slash shipping.

I felt like Glee was a show for multi shippers and why I could never get into the show.

Im at traditional girl at heart. There is only one right person for my ship.

I reckon certain characters can sell multiple ships. Felicity to me is a character who can do that.

I adored her with Barry, loved Olicity and squeed over Felicity and Ray.

I ship Olicity but I'd still be squeeing if she ended up with Ray one day. I'd be waving my Palmer Island flag!

The closest I came to a multi shipper was being able on a shallow level to see the chemistry between Chloe and just about anyone (except Jimmy)on Smallville, but I still had my OTP and I was so not someone that liked ever ship on the show.  I feel like they are saying multi shippers just like any kind of romantic interaction.

I can see Felicity's chemistry with Barry and as a friend with Ray (sorry, not in a romantic way IMO) and yeah, even saw it with Rory, but again, only on a very shallow level.  I'll never root for them as couples.

I shipped Chloe with so many people based on AU fic. Besides Lex, there was Dean and Wally West to name a few. Mind you, I quit in S4 so missed out on Chlollie.

With regards to Arrow, I am the Sobbing OTP Shipper. Just stop keeping them apart!!

I love that the two you listed weren't even on the show.  Seriously though, Chloe was really ship-able.  I went through a very hot and heavy (and admittedly odd) Chloe and Hawkman fan fic phase.

I don't even know what to say. So very sad. I didn't interact much with them, but I was backstage when Debbie Reynolds received her Lifetime Achievement Award from the SAG Awards. I remember everyone wasn't sure what Carrie was going to say about her mom, and I do think she went off script. I could tell, even based on only a few minutes, that they had a complicated relationship, but you could also see a lot of love. I hope Billie has a ton of support right now.

She really was. And frankly, both Allison and Tom were chemistry magnets. Well, except for when it came to Erica/Lois. Hell, he had more chemistry with Shelby, the dog

And now I'm pleasantly reliving oh what could have been, in my nth rewatch of Smallville. Season One Clark was almost on the level of Season one Flash Barry.

I'm randomly watching season 9 of Smallville now and I think the Ollie guy is waaaaay hotter than the Superman guy!

Barry has a special place in my heart because the actor reminds me of hubby.

I find them both hot, actually, but in different ways. There was this whole...thing, I'm blanking on the word, but in later seasons, whenever Clark got all sweaty, mussed up, bloody, the hot factor really ratcheted up for me, and I would turn into a pile of goo.

I'm not ashamed to admit that the main reason I stuck it out to the end was because of the gorgeousness of Tom Welling and his pretty, pretty, ever changing beautiful eyes. Ask @BkWurm1 if you don't believe me!

Random thought ( and this makes me such a bad shipper) but I always feel a bit sketchy when I watch the Olicity sex scene.

Not to say it's a bad scene at all but I always feel like I'm not supposed to be watching it. Makes me squirm a bit! I dunno! I'm weird!

Hee! Someone stripped the music from that scene, and it totally seems like porn with the smoochy sounds and breathy noises.

You're mean! Now I'm curious! But No!!!!

I'm sooooo NOT watching that!

I love all their kissing/cutesy pie scenes. I completely swoon!!! Heck I even read a lot of saucy Olicity fanfic. Something about that sex scene makes me feel sketchy.

Tom Welling goes on the list of athesthecially pleasing and pretty men  like Brad Pitt and Chace Crawford. And he's gotten so much better with age. I saw photos of him from a year ago where he had stubbled up and yummy.

I didn't find the Olicity sex scene that gratituous or uncomfortable/awkward It was protracted but I thought it struck the right balance between sexy and romantic. Although I was surprised the bra shot and the rotating the hips shot made it through the censors.

Ha speaking of sex scenes I read on Twitter recently that there is supposedly a porno parody of The Flash some where out in the porno universe haha. I've never watched porn in my life but I'd be slightly tempted to watch that for the laugh mock factor haha.

Remember when he wore that grey shirt as he was working his way through Russia (hey, maybe he met Oliver while he was there!) and we all just about died of his hotness?  Good times.  Good times.

It's intimate even if it's not explicit.  If I start thinking about the actors it makes me feel sketchy but I'm not thinking about the actors when I watch.  And yeah, the version with no music is extra intimate.

SO sad about Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.... They were both legends onscreen & off. My heart breaks for their loved ones - it must be so amazingly hard for them. I have experienced similar situations like this with my job, so I was not totally surprised by her mother's passing... but that certainly didn't lighten the sadness I felt with each announcement. It certainly did not sound good from what was being released regarding Carrie, I thought it was only a matter of time. But Debbie, people underestimate how powerful grief and stress can be.

I do believe in the death comes in 3s... But I always try to think back and attach a closely preceding death. I hate to think that we have a death lurking around the corner. Although I do think George, Debbie and Carrie are this recent trio in terms of stature and impact. Damn you 2016!! Haven't you taken enough??? - please be gentle in the next 2 days.

An interesting take on the theory I heard was that 1 of the 3 is not always death but it could also be a birth. But I think that is more on a personal level. That as Death takes, Life returns the balance. It doesn't really work on a pop-culture level.

And the rain, delineating each and every muscle, plastered to his body...muscles bunching as he lifted those crates...?????????

And even our Ollie spoke Russian! when he came to bust Clark out.

Justin Hartley and Chrishell Stause adopted two dogs from the Burbank Animal Shelter - where I got my kitteh Kai. I thanked her for promoting adopting on Twitter, she liked my tweet, so we're basically best friends now. I also want another kitten. (No! Two is enough!)

Every time I see this thread highlighted I think oh no, who died.

For me it's BuzzFeed update alerts to my mobile... I have no idea how the setting got that way, but death alerts are all they notify me of when I hit a WiFi zone.

It's really a lot this year. Hoping the trend breaks in the New Year.

I thought two was enough and then a small black kitten showed up at my back door on an exceptionally cold January day, and I found there's always room for more.

A sweet tweet from Todd Fisher
