catrox14 January 30, 2016 Share January 30, 2016 I'm not into the Devils and Angels stuff. I wish they had never made Castiel or Crowley regulars. I think they made Misha and Mark regulars so Jared and Jensen could have more time off. Link to comment
tarotx January 30, 2016 Share January 30, 2016 The brothers will always come back until it's the last season and if you watch the show for any other reason than the brothers you will end your fandom in misery. That said I only watched the first season. Link to comment
Chaser January 30, 2016 Share January 30, 2016 If I see a monster of the week episode coming up, I'll tune in for it. I wasn't going to miss the big 200 so I still have some warm feelings about the show. Mostly I'm just sad they messed with a good thing. IMO I think they made Misha and Mark regulars so Jared and Jensen could have more time off. I can understand the out of show reasoning, but it doesn't mean I have to enjoy what it did in show. I wasn't suggesting you had to enjoy, just explaining why I think they did it.. I'm really not here trying to tell anyone how to feel about the show.. That said, one recommendation I will make, and I think for anyone who has any lingering affection for the show, is to watch the episode 11.04 "Baby'. Whilst I had some issues with it, it's really a wonderful episode that was so unique and different that I hope they submit it for an Emmy. Edited January 30, 2016 by catrox14 Link to comment

statsgirl January 30, 2016 Share January 30, 2016 CW also ordered a pilot for the period piece “Transylvania.” Set in 1880, a headstrong young woman in search of her missing father ventures from NYC to Transylvania where she teams up with a wrongfully disgraced Scotland Yard Detective, and together they witness the births of the most famous monsters and villains in history. Hugh Sterbakov wrote the pilot and will exec produce with Jeff Pinkner, Andre Nemec, Josh Applebaum and Scott Rosenberg. CBS TV Studios and Midnight Radio will produce. Good to know that even though it's set in Transylvania, the heroes are American and British. Heaven forbid we get a show about foreigners in their own country. [/sarcasm] Link to comment
bijoux January 30, 2016 Share January 30, 2016 Good to know that even though it's set in Transylvania, the heroes are American and British. Heaven forbid we get a show about foreigners in their own country. [/sarcasm] You know, I think it's a trap to have foreigners as leads on TV. Unless they actually are of that descent or reasonably fluent in the language, you get a bad accent and occasional pieces of dialogue that are supposed to be in the character's native tongue but are cmpletely butchered. Arrow is a good example of this. Bits that come to mind are Helena's Italian and some thugs' German in the episode with Leo Müller in S1. Now, my German is pretty good, what with teaching it, and I honestly needed a few beats for it to compute to my brain. And Helena's Italian pronounciation was terrible. Link to comment
statsgirl January 30, 2016 Share January 30, 2016 (edited) I agree, it's bad to have people faking foreign accents. It's even bad when foreigners do it (e.g. Ana on Agent Carter). But if this show is set in Transylvania, wouldn't everyone except the American and the Brit be talking in bad accents? My comment was more about that a show has to have an American or English leading character before CBS's audience will watch it. It's like action and adventure movies have to have mostly men in the cast because the producers think men won't watch them otherwise. I was thinking about shows like X Company and some British ones where they shoot in France or Germany but the characters speak perfect English because we know that they are French, German etc. No need to speak English in an accent. I think this story is about an American and an Englishman in Transylvania because they thought that unless the leads were people the American audience can identify with on a cultural level, they wouldn't tune it. We've still got a long way to go before we're citizens of the world. Edited January 30, 2016 by statsgirl 2 Link to comment

kismet February 1, 2016 Share February 1, 2016 Watching Grease Live and surprisingly its entertaining... I have a sweet spot for Aaron Tveit... Who is doing adorable Danny well... love his puppy eyes. Not sure I'm believing his swagger just yet. But still he looks good. Julianne Hough is a perfect Sandy... although I dread the vamped up Sandy at the end. I just don't think she has the spunky & inner badassery that Olivia Newton John had. I'm impressed with Vanessa Hudgens professionalism, she is doing a good job considering her father died last night. It must be hard for her. She is channeling Stockard Channing, or heavily stealing from her, although I still prefer SC. Marty is rocking it, but she does not look like she belongs in high school. So far though, it's pretty decent. Wonder who's job it was to run out and buy all the umbrellas for the opening outside number in the rain? 1 Link to comment

kismet February 1, 2016 Share February 1, 2016 Grease Live is really doing a good job... so far no weak links.... everyone is doing really good.... For a TV production, it's really entertaining. I loved that they interspersed the Melody song between the sports try-out scenes, that was a really genius idea. Who else nearly shouted themselves off the couch when the original Frenchie showed up? Although the Frenchie on Frenchie scene was almost a little too meta for me. And I was looking forward to Goran Visjinc. I thought Missing failed to live up to what it could be (I thought it dragged), but I loved the scenery and the cities. I would have watched another season just for that. And it's really nice to see something different other than the usual stand-ins for New York, Chicago and LA. Some of the English early period TV shows like Robin Hood shoot in Hungary because the countryside still looks the way it might have in the 13th century. Link to comment

How cute was it when the cast was taking their bows that she and the other original cast member showed up in their original Pink Ladies and T-Birds jackets respectively? Hough was well cast and need to shout out to the hair and make up people. There were times where she looked like Olivia Newton-John. I'm impressed with Vanessa Hudgens professionalism, she is doing a good job considering her father died last night. It must be hard for her. Morrigan2575 February 1, 2016 Share February 1, 2016 I watched Grease Live from 7-8, switched over to Galavant from 8-9 and then switched back to Grease for the final hour. Great night of TV for people who love musicals. I loved the Galavant finale, it was perfect, I know we'll never get a S3 but I would love it if the impossible happened. For Grease Live, I enjoyed what I watched. I had friends on facebook who hated it because they didn't follow the movie religiously. I find that amusing because the movie is different from the stage production. I've never watched the stage production, but from what I've heard (from people who have watched or performed in it) Grease Live pulled from both. 4 Link to comment

kismet February 1, 2016 Share February 1, 2016 I recorded Galavant and will watch it later. I'm really kinda bummed they put them against each other. I have enjoyed Galavant s2, but s1 I think was better, I feel like they had better guest stars. I really hope we get a s3 because it is a fun show. It's just refreshing. I'm sorta glad Grease pulled from both the stage & movie production. I've never seen the professional stage production, so I'm assuming the stuff that was different perhaps came from that. It felt seamless either way. Plus, if people wanted to just watch a redux of the movie they should have just popped in the videocassette. That being said, the first time I saw the stage version of Sound of Music, I nearly had a conniption when they changed what in my mind was the real story & canon. So I understand when people are attached to a story how protective of it they become. The only thing that really threw me off was the traveling bus-go-carts but that lead to some fun moments, so I'll just roll with it. :) Link to comment
kismet February 1, 2016 Share February 1, 2016 Grease: Live! Recap: Fox Figured Out The Live TV Musical (Vanity Fair) That recap was hysterical!! Although a little harsh on Aaron Tveit. He definitely lacked some of the sexy smolder & swagger of Travolta. But I think he nailed the adorable vulnerability of Danny. And he can sing, which can't be said for other male actors recently cast on TV musicals. Julianne Hough & Vanessa Hudgens were better in their roles, but I think Aaron Tveit held his weight. kismet February 1, 2016 Share February 1, 2016 Just caught up on Galavant. And it was awesome. I literally started clapping at the final scene. I have to say that twist at the end was perfect. I just love dragons!! It was the perfect homage to GoT minus the CGI. I really do hope that it gets a 3rd season. It does make for more entertaining TV than most of the shows in Jan. I do wonder if it would garner more viewers in the summer when it is not in competition with all the special programming of Jan. 4 Link to comment
statsgirl February 1, 2016 Share February 1, 2016 One of the things I love about Galavant is how it makes fun of TV tropes, like Richard getting his dragon in the end. Or the cast singing "We could all die today" and Isabella's father throws in that no, because there's still another episode to go. The "Take off His Shirt" in the second episode is still priceless. I appreciate that everyone ended up happily since it's the end "unless we get a surprise renewal". 6 Link to comment

I have enjoyed Galavant s2, but s1 I think was better, I feel like they had better guest stars. I really hope we get a s3 because it is a fun show. It's just refreshing. I feel the opposite. I thought season two was much stronger. Yes, they had bigger guest stars and more of them in season one but there was always something off when I was watching the first season. Everything about Galavant screamed a show I should love and yet apart from a few songs, I was not amused and didn't like most of the characters, but something happened when they started season two that for me rebooted everything and made me fall in love with the show this season. I thought the writing was much better and the characters stronger this season and a greater number of the songs were hits IMO than misses. Doesn't help that I HATED the Galavant theme song. (And it was everywhere) Not letting them sing it in the fist episode of season two redeemed the whole show for me. The opening song (of season two) was so tongue and cheek and pointed that I felt like they understood exactly where they'd gone wrong and were going to fix them and I feel they did. Genki February 2, 2016 Share February 2, 2016 I love the Galavant theme song an actually missed it in S2. A new season was catchy and cute, but was so happy for the recap done with reprise of the Galavant theme song in the penultimate episode. While I liked the new pairing and interactions of S2 I missed some of the S1 groupings. Loved both seasons however and even though it's a looooonng shot would love a Season 3. 1 Link to comment
kismet February 2, 2016 Share February 2, 2016 Oh don't get me wrong, I greatly enjoyed s2. I just enjoyed s1 better. The plot felt more driven. This one felt a little discombobulated.
