Small Talk: The Prayer Closet

Message added by Scarlett45

This is a reminder that the Politics Policy is still in effect.

I understand with recent current events there may be a desire to discuss political social media posts of those in the Duggar realm- this is not the place for those discussions. If you believe someone has violated forum rules, report them, do not respond or engage.

Political discussion is not allowed in this forum- this includes Small Talk topics. Please stay in the spirit of the policy- I have noticed a tendency for some to follow the letter but not the spirit.

While we understand the frustration (change is never easy), please keep in mind that not everyone feels the same way and that for those members who don't, the ongoing conversation about other forums and chat options can equally be a cause of frustration.

Out of respect for your fellow posters, we kindly ask that you continue any discussion about alternatives via PM or the Technically Speaking: Bugs, Questions, & Suggestions area.

We received the bigger, stainless steel with sides litter box and so far, so good for dear Leo!

In other news, probably a year ago, my husband and I were taking a walk down a nearby street when we passed a man walking a beautiful, light brown pit bull. That sweet dog took an instant liking to us and tried to follow us. The owner joked that we "could have her". I wish! Sadly, our HOA has a stupid rule against pitties! Plus at the time, we still had our senior cat who HATED dogs. I walk down that street nearly every day and haven't seen her again. I think she was named Kaia, or something like that. Yesterday my husband and I took a walk and there she was, standing in an empty lot, with the leash held by her owner. This time he just smiled at us and took her in another direction. But Kaia just kept staring at us. I couldn't help but wonder if she was supposed to be our dog, or at least my husband's. She seems inordinately attracted to us. Now we have another cat and we have no idea how he feels about dogs. I can't stop thinking about her and wondering if there is a dog distribution system like the cat system that brought us our Leo. Although her owner seems to care for her, I can't stop thinking about her! I'm going to keep on walking by her house!

I don't think so.  . . . .

Convinced me to go check. As of three days ago, she, Cosmo, and the two cats were fine.

We aren't supposed to discuss other sites, so if you want details, you can send me a PM.

People mention sites like Reddit and Free Jinger all the time. I don’t think it’s prohibited to simply mention the name of another site.

I believe this is in reference to when the site was possibly going poof! I’m assuming this because that is how the site came about. It was passed on to others through private messages when it was created.

Breast cancer scare over.

It was two weeks of hell between the mammogram and the ultrasound. Turned out to be a cyst. So relieved.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I felt the lump so first got the diagnostic mammo* (which goes against the deductible first so cost me over $1000 with the separately billed radiologist and ultrasound.) The week of the biopsy my daughter and husband were touring colleges so weren't home. And the day after the biopsy my dog died suddenly. It is truly an awful time and I'm glad that you were spared.

That fucking mammo place kept hounding me with a $2500 bill while I was going through chemo. I'm pretty sure it was deliberate because I read reviews later about patients that also were screwed over for a diagnostic mammo. I really hate how these places prey on and profit off of people who are going through some serious stuff, it's obscene. And the next year they sent a deliberately misleading letter hinting that my doctor ordered a mammogram which...no, my surgeon ordered a mammogram at another place because no way was I ever going back to them. I was so angry I posted a really nasty review and strongly implied the center was fraudulent. They tried calling me which...nope, not taking that one! Thankfully, my husband took care of all the insurance billing stuff while I was going through chemo/surgery/radiation and hounded them back as far as proving it. The binder I have is stuff full of all the bills and receipts.

My prognosis is excellent and I was lucky in that my body handled the regimen well and I was able to live my life as I normally would. And my hair grew back curly...for a time.

*The difference between a diagnostic mammo and a screening mammo is the radiologist will read the mammogram directly after it's taken. So if something shows up they will see it and discuss with you. But a screening is covered fully by insurance whereas a diagnostic, depending on insurance I presume, goes against the deductible first.

That's interesting.  The place where I go all the mammograms are read by the radiologist while the patients sit in a waiting area.  Usually a receptionist just comes by and tells us it's OK to leave.  The time I needed a biopsy, they held me in the exam room until I talked to the radiologist on the telephone.

One thing I learned from my experience is not to get too concerned until they start insisting a biopsy is needed.

In the chain I was in, I suspect they would have told me that right away after the u/s. There was a woman in the waiting room I was in filling out forms for her "next steps."  They didn't have her meds yet, so this was early on. I was in a dedicated breast cancer wing of the hospital campus.

I got an iPad (my first) for an early birthday gift from my husband. I've been trying to set up things on there so I can eventually retire my fading Chromebook. I have had an iPhone for years and here is the thing I noticed. When I go from the iPad to the iPhone, the iPhone looks so small, like ridiculously so. It reminds me of when you bring a newborn home and suddenly your toddler looks huge. That's kind of the opposite, but it's the same principle!

I hope you like the iPad!

Oh gosh.  We were a family of 5 with enough money for food and a stay at home mother and this sounds like one of her creations.  She did make basic food mostly.  Nothing fancy or with any level of difficulty.  There was always plenty of food in the house.  I learned to cook early.

I had a nightmare about the Rodriguez family. they came to stay with me and while I was out they stole everything including the contents of my refrigerator! they left me notes taped to my walls on how Jesus loves me lol. they even stole my tablet and old phone. I woke up with such a massive headache everyone.

I hope your headache is gone, @oliviabenson! Last night I had a crazy dream about trying to avoid a bear - indoors! I looked up the meaning and it seems to mean that I'm wrestling with a decision. I am!

I have two invitations for parties that are scheduled for the exact same day and time in May. The first is for a dear friend's son's graduation from high school. Sounds like fun! The 2nd was from my nephew's wife for their adorable daughter's 3rd birthday. That is my late sister's granddaughter. A couple of problems with that invitation. I love my nephew and his wife is lovely, but they live in the city (Chicago) and we're not really comfortable driving into the city. A bigger issue is that some low contact siblings will be there. One sister was extremely rude to my husband and we now keep our distance from her. OTOH, there will be a lot of nice people there. Mostly the ones I'm not related to lol! Any suggestions? The graduation party invitation arrived first.

I'd go to the one closer to you geographically. also it doesn't sound like you want to see your extended family so skip the niece. plus at 3 she won't remember anything anyways.
