Diana Berry January 24 Share January 24 Was that the first contestant to walk off and not thank Chef? Glad he called her back on it. Understandable being upset but still be polite to the person that got you on the show. It did seem like the table side was a job interview. I guess the guy that won it will probably win the season. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8562707

mlp January 24 Share January 24 I was very glad to see the last of Whit. I hope Kyle goes next. I wanted to reach into my TV and smack him 8 or 10 times for being so egotistical. I doubt that Gordon is going to pick someone that obnoxious even if he is a good cook. Hannah is OK but she's been tearful more than once and those piercings................ Maybe Gordon doesn't care about those. Dunno. I've been pulling for Egypt all along and I'll be very disappointed if he doesn't win. He hasn't made too many mistakes and, when he has, he's admitted it like a man. He's serious. Also he has nice eyes and an open smile. I think he's a good guy. 6 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8562766
PhoneCop January 24 Share January 24 I had a feeling going in that this was the end of the road for Whit. She's above average in the kitchen, which is why I suspect Gordon allowed her to stay this long and why he let her keep the jacket, but her complete lack of politesse was bound to do her in eventually. To whatever extent the winner represents the brand, Whit just wouldn't have been capable of playing that game. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8562795
gibasi January 24 Share January 24 Egypt is my favorite and I hope he wins. My second favorite would be Hannah and then Kyle. Hannah has impressed Gordon with her innovative combinations and I doubt her piercings would be a factor one way or another. Once Kyle was in charge last night he was all business and showed what he could do. Really I think any of the three would be a good pick for his head chef. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8562835
cameron January 24 Share January 24 Whit was given the easiest of the sabotages at the pad. Who couldn't tell the difference between fettuccine and pappardelle and the fact that she could tell the differences in the puree while just looking at the bottle without even using any of it told me that it was producer driven. 3 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8562839
KeithJ January 24 Author Share January 24 It's the chefs like Whit that really piss me off (which is usually most of the chefs). They come into the competition like they are the ordained winner and when they don't win, it's not because someone was better, it's because Gordon is wrong. Gordon has done the yelling bit before the pass challenge before but just once I wish someone would call him a donut during it. 6 1 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8562893
seacliffsal January 24 Share January 24 They have been showing us more of Whit's explosiveness these last few episodes. The fact that she didn't understand the importance of composure/calmness in the kitchen was a major factor in her elimination. And to not thank Gordon? Just no. Having said that, I want to reiterate that I would so eat in her restaurant as I think she's a good chef. However, in Gordon's restaurant empire, there is only one person allowed to have attitude and that is...Gordon. Is this the first time Gordon has done the sabotaging? It seems to me it used to be one of the sous chefs. I think Kyle's demise will be due to his desire to be the star. Just like with Whit, he needs to learn that in Gordon's restaurant empire, there is only one person allowed to be the star and that is...Gordon. Kids, it's not that hard to understand: this is Gordon's show, Gordon's rules, and Gordon's restaurant empire. I think either Egypt or Hannah will win. I personally like Egypt a bit more. But, I really do think either one of them would do well in the position. 7 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8562907

I never understood this and Gordon makes the owners do this on Kitchen Nightmares too. When I'm at a restaurant, the last thing I want is the owner or head chef coming out and chatting with me. A quick "how is everything?" is fine but that's it. I don't want to have a conversation with you instead of the people at my table. 7 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8563019
milkyaqua January 24 Share January 24 I was also glad to see the back of Whit. Her saying she'd only blew up one time in the kitchen had me laughing. I was like, girl, you have blown up multiple times. And yes, being rude to Gordan and thinking she was preordained to win (I have a POV and the rest of you don't). Go take your POV back to your own place where you can be you. Egypt talked a bit too much during the challenge. The folks at the table didn't need his life story. That said, he's probably the favorite going into the finale. I like Hannah and she'd be a good winner as well. Kyle seems to be a good cook and he did well at the pass but him wanting to be the star does not coincide with running a Ramsey kitchen. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8563064

Tango64 January 24 Share January 24 Kyle's food seems really good and he can manage people in the kitchen, but he needs to lose that sassy diva personality. It might have been fun in high school but he's a grown man in a professional environment. It is not a good look for him as a chef and a person. 8 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8563180

GHScorpiosRule January 24 Share January 24 Agree with those about glad that Whit got the boot. I think this is the first time where someone didn't make the cut, or while waiting, just stood there, with a sourpuss expression, and not bothering to congratulate fellow contestants as their names were called. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8563237

Kyle's head gets bigger every week. Pretty soon it won't be able to fit in the room with him. I am sure this is not lost on Gordon and I'd be very surprised if he wins. It's too bad because in other ways he's an excellent head chef. At this point I'd be happy if either Egypt or Hannah wins. I think I said this a couple of weeks ago as well, that I hoped the two of them would be in the finale. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8563426

GHScorpiosRule January 25 Share January 25 (edited) Seriously though, has any other contestant, or rather cheftestant ever shown such poor sportsmanship like Whit has? Be pissed you didn’t make it, but to stand there and not clap for those that made it through? It’s not as if they’re bad cooks. Oh wait. According to her, she’s the bestest EVAH because she has a point of view while the others don’t. Whatever the fuck that means. And while she is a good cook, she’s not a leader, and that is something that Gordon also looks for in a chef. Remember season one winner? He was quiet, not bombastic, nor did he have attitude. There was certainly producer shenanigans with Whit being able to tell that the opaque bottle had beet syrup without even TASTING it! I’m hoping Egypt wins. I’ve been a fan since the beginning. I normally do not put ketchup on my chips (fries), but Scott told me that they make their ketchup in-house fresh every morning. Not only was it delicious, I almost wanted to lick the bowl clean because it was SOOOOOO good. I've eaten at (I think) all of the Ramsay places in Las Vegas. Didn't think the Steakhouse in the Paris Hotel had the type of ambiance one would expect for those prices. Loved the BurGR hamburger place. We always order two different burgers and cut them in half so we both get amazing burgers. There's a little fish and chips shop on one of the pedestrian walkways. Not great, and precious little seating. And Hell's Kitchen. Wow. Our favorite of those we've visited. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8565240

To whatever extent the winner represents the brand, Whit just wouldn't have been capable of playing that game. Yeah, she had a strong start (or at least a good edit for awhile), but the last few episodes have been foreshadowing her not making it to the end. And that bit with the frosty, wordless handshake on the way out was just ridiculous, good for Gordon for calling her out for it. I get being mad that you're eliminated, but you need the maturity to recognize that you had a great opportunity and the foresight to realize that even contestants who didn't win the show can be helped by a relationship with Gordon. Whether it be coming back for a future season or getting some sort of opportunity with one of his gazillion restaurants, there are doors that could be opened there and biting the hand that feeds you doesn't make sense. I'm shocked that Kyle is still there, but I'm assuming it's for TV purposes. I don't see him as a leader, he seems like the type who would play favorites and be a gossipy troublemaker in a group setting. Hannah and Egypt both seem like viable options for the final, so I hope it's them. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151520-s23e14-hell-at-the-pass/#findComment-8568389
