Aren't the kids twins? She said "my son's graduation"...but not the daughter?

I noticed that too.  But good for him, maybe that's why he is not fat - he is living away from these two delusional overeaters...

Good night, everyone.  This was a nothing burger, hopefully next week we will get a really fun one, I want someone to crash and burn with gusto and curses.  We've had to successes, we had a bland waste of time, now it's time for some hardcore snark!

Oh nice catch! The daughter is stunted and doesn’t seem to have a life beyond her mother. It’s sad

Maybe she was held back at some point? I hope she goes to school...

Did some stalking.. Does not look like she or her daughter lost very much.

https://www.facebook.com/karen.suffern

Her glasses changed and she found the most advantageous angle for her face photos, but she doesn't look any thinner and I am willing to bet she is still sitting at home and eating. Otherwise she would be bragging about everything she has been able to accomplish...

Karen S, age 42, from: Rocky Mount NC

Lovely home, clean and very nice. Not the norm for this show sadly. Unfortunately, she's on the ground floor and bathroom is upstairs. 16 stairs up to the shower. Lives with her twin son Ryan, and daughter, Amber.

Her legs look so painful. She has asthma, anxiety. Avoids doctor's appointments, housebound. Physically abused as a child. Parentified over younger siblings.

Breakfast is a dozen eggs, lots of sausage, and two plates worth. Alway was overweight, and panic attacks in seventh grade to the present.

Sexually abused as a 15 year old.  Lead to self harm.   In mental hospital for months. Had a job working with others to help them, and had a panic attack at work, and only works from home. Nearly 400 lbs by 23.  Depression and anxiety counseling, met a man, that produced the twins, when man left.

Her son is shown grocery shopping while she tells him what she wants over the phone.

Her goal is to be healthy enough to participate in her children's graduation activities next year.

An entire family meal of KFC is an awful way to show her kids how to eat.   I'm really hoping she'll embrace the program and change.

Dr. Now compromises and let's her go to a local clinic for a weigh in.   I'm not getting a good feeling about this, and her 'journey'.

Her degree is in social work.

Month 1 nweigh-in at local clinic  lbs.    Having her first online therapy appointment with Dr. Paradise.  He gives her homework to open the black out curtains every morning, and take her cute little dog for a walk.

45 minutes into the episode and nothing, this isn't good, and I'm betting she'll never even attempt to see Dr. Now in person.  She's opening curtains, and trying to take dog for a walk.  Failed at dog walking.   Still no local clinic visit. Her test trip to the clinic location is bizarre. She's backing out on the clinic visit.

Bailed on the local clinic appointment, and ducking out on Dr. Now's calls.

She finally talks to Dr. Now, and claims she lost 100 lbs. No way, and still no weigh-in.

If she can go to the grocery store trips, she can go to the clinic.   Her lunch is a huge delivery from Chick-Fil-A,  A clinic representaltive brings a scale and will do some tests.

Weight 604 lbs. How can she say she lost weight? She was just guessing before. Dr. Now will set up a local appointment at the clinic in two months.

The highlight of hour 2 is the hairdresser making house calls, and Karen's delusion she lost 100 lbs when she has no ideal what she weighed at the beginning.

90 minutes into the episode she chickens out on the weigh in, because 'there might be people at the clinic'.  Not a surprise. The clinic parking lot is empty.     What a nothing episode.

The nurse practitioner from the clinic  is bringing a scale for weigh in to her house.  First weigh in was 604 lbs, second is 583.  Karen claims the scale is wrong, because she lost at least 200 lbs.

She finally talks to Dr. Now, she claims the scale is wrong.  When she says everyone tells her she lost so much weight, and Dr. Now asks who told her, because she never goes out.   Dr. Now tells her to lose 50 lbs, weigh in at the local clinic, and have more sessions with Dr. Paradise.  She pulls into the parking lot of the clinic, and goes back home, because "there might be people in there".  The parking lot was empty.

Two months later, she demands the scale be brought to her again, and if she made her goal Dr. Now will keep working with her.  If she hasn't met her goal, and she hasn't, then she's out of the program.

Last weigh in 583, 572 this time, so down 11 lbs. And again she says the scale is defective, and she's not calling Dr. Now.  She's actually mad at Dr. Now, claims she lost 100 lbs, and she knows more than Dr. Now.    As Dr. Now's book title says "Scales Don't Lie, People Do"

She also quits on Dr. Paradise, and claims she has a local therapist she's working with.

The ending scene is Karen claiming she's losing weight, She's not. She was a waste of time for Dr. Now, and Dr. Paradise.  She's down to 552 on her home scale. She's still claiming her scale weighs her too high.

At the end she claims she lost 200 lbs since starting her journey.    Totally wrong.

Maybe we stopped on a trip to Florida when I was little. Or my parents got it another time and somehow I ended up with it in my kitchen. I remember loving that spoon when I was a kid, though. His face has lost most of its paint.

That was my question!

That was my second question!

We remember South of the Border from drives to Florida fifty years ago.  The other thing I remember was the funny billboards they had on the way.

This is the saddest episode. She is a counselor?  Yet she is so mentally ill. We are missing so much information here.

After the next 100 pound loss, she'll leave the house. This needs to be like Hairspray the musical. Her chubby daughter gets her out of the house and they sing and dance outside.

I’ve been watching Miss Scarlet (nothing to do with the Clue game) on PBS. My friend and I share a membership so I can watch the entire season before it airs. It’s like chicken soup—makes you feel warm and cozy inside.

I miss the Duke, but it’s obvious something is going to brew between Eliza and the brooding new Inspector.

Typical breakfast: a platter big enough for a family of four.

Including teenagers.

I want some toast, but I don't have any good bread.

Toast is the food of the gods. I rarely eat it now because it makes me fat fat fat. Ever read the chef Nigel Slater's memoir, titled "Toast"? In it he says "It is impossible not to love someone who makes toast for you"

Just wondering why an agoraphobic would want to work with a Dr in Houston. I'm sure that NC has many very qualified bariatric practices.

But not on TV!

The internet has been a great thing for anxious people. You can shop and get food at home.

I do that. I'm not anxious, though. Just lazy.

When I lose THE NEXT 100 POUNDS? Ummm, how about losing the first 100 pounds first?

She wants to just skip ahead to the second 100 pounds. Easier and faster!

Oh, that pesky old malfunctioning scale! The villain of the piece, always!

She'll just take a  leisurely stroll around the living room.

Oh no, I hope its not the horrible creeping crud I had. I was down for a solid two weeks. Get lots of Robitussin. Day Quil and Mucinex did nothing for me. Robitussin with honey worked the best. I hope you feel better soon!

Where was @Pepper Mostly tonight?  Hope you're okay.  I missed the live watch myself as I fell asleep.  Then I fast forwarded through a lot of the episode.

I am mortified that I missed the chat!

Oh, and for the record I am in leggings all day and all night. But I wear cotton ones. No cooch trouble to report.

As a note I'm moving to Bluesky, please please please DM me if you are there and want to follow! I'll follow you back, promise!

I know she has severe anxiety, but she needs to do the therapeutic homework and push through the discomfort or she will never get better

All of this. I know a lot more about how all that stuff feels than I care to recall. If you refuse to power through, you will not get better. It's just that simple. You stay in the environment that's stressing you. You feel like you're about to hurl? You don't leave; you carry a bag. You feel like you can't breathe? You don't leave; you breathe right through that feeling.

Or you just go home and eat crap and lie about the changes you're making. Either way.
