The thing with Trump is I can't decide if he genuinely thinks Presidents do have the power to do the stuff he is claiming he can do or if he knows damn well it's not true and this is all just Trumpian bluster and brag.

Now we all know if Biden threw out even a fraction of the stuff Trump proposes he would say Biden is wrong and blah blah blah.  I think he thinks he, just he, has the power to do whatever he wants. In his mind he is King of the world.

Exact same thing is happening here in Canada and likely in a most other countries to.  The thing with Trump is I can't decide if he genuinely thinks Presidents do have the power to do the stuff he is claiming he can do or if he knows damn well it's not true and this is all just Trumpian bluster and brag.

I watch some UK items daily and it's been a long time since I made it through without hearing "cost of living crisis" at least once if not six to ten times.  Trump is a cog in the worldwide economic wheel.

Only if Emperor Musk says so.

I think Trump giving Musk so much power is more than a thank you for all the money he donated. I think Musk knows things that Trump doesn't want disclosed. Could be election shenanigans. Could be more personal stuff.  I hope the narrative Musk is the one actually having the presidential power keeps needling Trump.  I will make a big bowl of popcorn to watch the inevitable fracturing of their friendship business arrangement deal with the devil.

We know they were both close to Jeffrey Epstein.

I honestly don't think there is one single thing anyone "has" on Trump that would make the slightest bit of difference at this point.  And probably wouldn't have during the election cycle either.  His cult would dismiss anything truly unsavoury as lies and the mainstream media would probably have pulled a whataboutism and found some Democrat somewhere doing something awful like not recycling their cans and bottles and that would have ended that.

Doesn't matter if his base would believe it or not. It could be something that makes Donald look bad. Or weak. Or a loser.

All the rumors about there being a pee pee tape wasn't so much about Trump being kinky, I mean who cares?, it was that hookers were peeing on him. That he was in a submissive position.  Trump's whole persona is he is a tough guy, a wannabe mobster, and anything that shows that he is a weak loser would devastate him. So that is why he had Sean Spicer lie about his inauguration crowd. Why he refused to believe Hillary Clinton won the popular vote. Why he said Biden didn't win in 2020.

We might not ever find out but I'm 100% Musk knows something.

I double featured Muppet Christmas Carol and A Christmas Story last night.  I came to the realization of I ever saw Donald Trump or Elon Musk on the street i would probably unleash hell that same way Ralphie unloaded on Scut Farkus.  I would be the old man and they would be the furnace, I would be the Bumpus Hounds and they would be the turkey.

Hilary was right his followers are deplorable. They support a man that acts like a Mean Girl. That lies incessantly. That pals around with equally wretched people. And praises the most ruthless leaders in the world.

And he, his sycophants, hanger ons and creepy family are unpatriotic at the very least. They don’t care about America or Americans. They snatch rights away from voters and women. Health care away from critically ill children and if this flew under your radar last week the 9–11 rsponders health care fund was eliminated from last week’s CR.

That’s right the 120,00 1st responders who contracted cancers and other illnesses at Ground Zero are now to be turned away from the federal program meant to provide them with health care.

That is what Trump and Musk consider government waste. Trump must be scared of Musk anyway. Over the weekend at the MAGA get together in AZ he actually had to reassure his fans that Musk won’t be president because he wasn’t born in the USA 🤣🤣🤣

I think a lot of us are long convinced that Trump has no real power and that Putin, Musk and other billionaires are pulling the strings.  Trump is only around because he brings the votes and his base are sycophantic levels of loyal.  The fact that even his voters are asking questions shows how small Trump even appears in influence now.  And yet he can still unleash a tsunami of hell because at least he's not a woman.

Remember we used to hear it was the Rothchilds pulling the strings.

Now we have billionaires blatantly doing it out in the open. Thanks Citizens United.

I've always thought he was puppet from the beginning. Although I don't think he knows that.  He is a like a straight to cable Manchurian Candidate.

So the question is as Musk's power grows will Trump try to get rid of him? I think at some point Trump is going to realize he really isn't the one in power and who knows what happens then.

I think he will use what power he does have to cause as much misery as possible. He's such a horrible little man - apparently he's pouting because Biden ruined Christmas for him by commuting most of the sentences of those on death row for federal crimes.  Trump was so looking forward to a killing spree.

But, yeah, what happens when he realizes he's been manipulated?  Will Musk become another Guilani?  Probably not.  But Trump has to be the big dog.

Recall please his "I alone can fix things" American Carnage inauguration speech.

Yep, Putin's puppet, I think.  Quick story: in 2018 one of my closest friends was going to visit Russia with her dad from Ireland.  For the visa, Russia was asking all sorts of questions about her dad's business.  Like more than just # of employees and sector of business and revenue.  They were asking his employees' names and places of birth and immigration status in Ireland.  Dad didn't want to answer all those questions so they ended up not going.  (Which was cool for me, b/c instead, she & her then-husband and their two kids came over to visit me in NYC!)  Anyway, she wondered aloud why they wanted all that info; I replied in jest "to see if they want to make him President of the US"

Finally, @Jaded - hugs to you.  Hope you're able to navigate thru this crap with some semblance of sanity.

I also think that it's rather hilarious that Orange Man and his people think Canada would be ONE SINGLE STATE rather than thirteen!  And that having us would make HIM and the Republicans more powerful. Our Conservatives' platform is nowhere near as nuts.

Danielle Smith and PP are little Hitlers in Training.  I'm not joking. Alberta is turning into a scary place.  The rest of Canada isn't far behind.

I guess we just have to agree to disagree.  Actually, for me, it's more like a wait and see thing.  I have only voted NDP ONCE in my life and you don't know how hard I had to pray away that fact. Funny thing was that the polling station was at a church.
