Federal workers are getting emails asking them to explain the work they did last week. Musk says not responding will be taken as a resignation

A friend received that email, and she’s pissed.  She reported it for phishing, and said that she upholds an oath to the constitution, not to them.

I sent them five things I accomplished last week, aside from disassociating on my couch.  I finally ran the dishwasher, got some food into the house, returned a library book…

And I understand that. So tell me, how are we supposed to know who is criminal and who is not unless they are caught and a background check is run on them.

We know that a criminal was inaugurated as President, on January 20th. He even has his mugshot in the Oval Office.  I remember a few MAGA telling me that it won the election for him. We also know that he released violent criminals (insurrectionists) right away. He pardoned them, and called them “political hostages”

Now they’re pretending to be concerned about criminals in this country.

That's why I wonder how long his bromance with Musk is going to last. Two attention whoring egos, with skins as thin as gossamer, how long until the spotlight stays on one of them a little too long? Trump owes the election in no small part to Musk but how much adoration from the cult for one vs the tech incel faction for one or the other will be a bridge too far?

Chaos erupts at Idaho legislative town hall, protester dragged out of Republican meeting By Hailey Hill Coeur d’Alene Press

Saturday’s legislative town hall hosted by the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee turned volatile after some attendees voiced their concerns over the possible repeal of Medicaid expansion and other bills working their way through the Idaho Legislature.

After making remarks from the audience to several legislative members on stage, Teresa Borrenpohl of Post Falls was asked to leave. After refusing, Borrenpohl was pulled from her seat, wrestled to the ground and dragged out of the Coeur d’Alene High School auditorium by three unidentified people.

In a video on social media, Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris can be seen telling Borrenpohl to “get up or be arrested” before the men stepped in.

“This is not a negotiation,” Norris told Borrenpohl. “Women deserve a voice,” Borrenpohl shouted before initial contact with the men.

Many in the audience became upset, several leaving the event entirely, as the event’s emcee, Ed Bejarana, continued speaking about Borrenpohl just before she was dragged out.

“Look at this little girl over here, everyone. Look at her,” Bejarana said.

Bejarana’s comments continued as a few dozen audience members began filming the incident, with several more booing and shouting at Bejarana and the unidentified men.

accused Borrenpohl and other audience members of “filibustering” and continued talking about the Department of Government Efficiency.

“We’ve got to be a little aggressive with some of these folks here,” Bejarana said. “Your voice is meaningless right now. ... I can talk over all of you.”

“Is this a town hall or a lecture?” one woman in the audience shouted. Several women in the audience held signs in silent protest, including slogans such as “Save Voter Approved Medicaid.” Ed DePriest, who was in attendance, called Saturday’s events “a microcosm of what has been going on in the last three to five years.” “(There’s been) so much divisiveness and anger,” DePriest said. “It’s very, very sad.”

I think Musk thinks he can take over.  Like an actual coup.  He floated that idea of everyone getting a check due to all the "fraud" he is finding.  He wants people to be on his side.

This terrible idea of a tax cut (that will mostly benefit the truly stinking rich) is something most Americans - who work everyday for not a whole lot of money (compared to a millionaire or 😱 billionaire) is shocking.

How are Republicans able to sell that in their districts? Why aren't we seeing the entire Democratic membership in Congress standing together on the Capital Steps...loudly denouncing and booing this?  Where is the collected outrage of the Democratic Party. This could be a winner for them. And please, for the love of God, do not send Hakeem Jeffries or Chuck Schumer out to speak for all.

Why aren't people of both parties jamming their Representative's phone lines? It is like they are doing this sneakily and silently. A coup, if you will.

I guess the plan to mollify most of us ("the poors" to Repugs) is to give us a rebate check with money stolen from charitable organizations, Treasury Department, National Park employees and services,  etc.

One last thing (I promise). Musk's demand that federal employees put in writing everything they do/accomplish during a certain time period. Or be fired.  But what about DOD employees (who are federal employees) who are in charge of classified information? Especially re weapons systems, terrorism, top secret info. You know - the kind of thing that Musk and his phallic ax/chainsaw loves to grab and do whatever he wants to do with it.

Where's the compassion for the human beings who don't agree with your views?

Compassion for what, though? Compassion is something you have for people struggling and suffering. Not agreeing with my views is not a condition someone is suffering through. I do have a great deal of compassion for Laken Riley’s parents. What happened was horrific.

I also have compassion for the families of all the women who have been killed by men when they were out jogging or hiking (or just existing). The numbers are disturbingly high. I do find it interesting that many of the same people who use one senseless murder to cast suspicion on all immigrants will cry “not all men” even though numbers prove that men, as a whole, are a much greater threat to women than illegal immigrants, as a whole.

Senator Tina Smith (D MN) “this is the ultimate dick boss move from Musk except he isn’t even the boss he’s just a dick”

And she kept going in all her glory.  She followed up with "I bet a lot of people have had an experience like this with a bad boss - there’s an email in your inbox on Saturday night saying, 'Prove to me your worthiness by Monday or else.' I’m on the side of the workers, not the billionaire asshole bosses."

When Musk posted, "What did you get done last week?" she replied, "Elon, I hate to break it to you but you aren’t my boss. I answer to the people of Minnesota. But since you bring it up, I spent last week fighting to stop tax breaks for billionaires like you, paid for by defunding health care for moms and babies."

1939. Germany.

Too obvious?

I’m back to going through stuff in my life. Nice to see Don, Elon and their minions continue to make a mockery out of reality itself. Also, the government in Idaho should just give us their potatoes and STFU.

He’s gone off the deep end with power.

At CPAC this weekend he showed up waving a chainsaw and telling the audience he’s open to auditing the Federal Reserve and accusing the Democrats of treason

Yosemite National Park workers protested the federal firings by hanging an upside down flag off the side of El Capitan as a symbol of national distress

Their statement is great, calling out the "drill, baby, drill" end game:

“The purpose of this exercise of free speech is to disrupt without violence and draw attention to the fact that public lands in the United States are under attack.  The Department of the Interior issued a series of secretarial orders that position drilling and mining interests as the favored uses of America’s public lands and threaten to scrap existing land protections and conservation measures. Firing 1,000s of staff regardless of position or performance across the nation is the first step in destabilizing the protections in place for these great places.

These losses, while deeply personal and impactful, may also be invisible to visitors and members of the public — we are shining a spotlight on them by putting a distress flag on El Capitan in view of Firefall. Think of it as your public lands on strike.”

That's totally wrong.

No, it's not. We literally have stories in here of that happening to people. I know you keep brushing our concerns off as "tedious", but if you're going to join the conversation, it might do you well to actually pay attention to what's being said and posted here.

Please stop patronizing me. All I said was that I'm against criminals coming into our country illegally. And unfortunately, there's no way to know that until the unthinkable happens.

And all I'm saying is that the vast majorty of people who enter this country are not criminals. And most of those who don't enter through legal means are not doing so because they want to commit violent crime, it's because the legal route was not working fast enough for them/they were desperate to get out of a dangerous situation/etc.

Also, again, I'll take your concerns about criminals more seriously when you stop coming in to defend Donald "convicted felon" Trump at every turn.  If he gets to be president despite committing many crimes, then law and order clearly doesn't mean as much in this country as it should, does it? If Trump doesn't have to follow the law, it's a little rich to get upset about immigrants not doing the same.

Quote

Again, if they came here legally...in a way that most of our ancestors did, I have no objection whatsoever. Being ethnic, I don't discriminate.

Many of our ancestors didn't come here legally, though. I guarantee that the people railing against illegal immigrants would probably be shocked to find out they likely had an ancestor or two (or more) who did not follow legal channels when arriving here.

And how nice you don't discriminate. Unfortunately, this administration very much does. As do the vast majority of people railing against immigrants.

Quote

For the 37th time, I am NOT defending anyone's actions. I'm just posting MY "feelings" (or views). I don't expect libs to understand.

That's literally all you've been doing, you only come in here to defend or excuse something Trump or Musk are doing and saying.

Quote

I don't think anything about Musk. T&M have been transparent with their findings, and unless everything is a total lie, we should believe them until proven otherwise. You know, innocent until proven guilty?

LMAO, no , they have not. Not even fucking close. They lie every time they open their damn mouths, that's all they're capable of doing. Stop falling for their BS already.

Also, any thoughts on the fact that people like you and I will be paying more in taxes than Musk under the GOP's new tax plan? Surely this goes against all your concerns about financial issues, right? Surely this flies in the face of the claim that Trump and co. were totally going to ease people's financial burdens, no?

The Nazi thing has been discussed ad nauseum, and I've posted my take on it numerous times.

Yes, and you continue to ignore the fact that only one party is getting a ton of support from Nazis and Nazi sympathizers, and it sure as hell ain't the Democrats. If I were you, I'd sit and really think about why that is, and why people are deeply terrifeid about the fact that the party currently in power and controlling every single branch of our government is getting support from Nazis.

Worse - people on tumblr are advocating that Germans vote for Die Linke - the old SED in a previous life - but they are fascists too. Marxian socialism is fascism in a red coat.

Die Linke and BSW are just the other side of the same autocratic coin as AfD.

Tumblr has some good corners and I've found some great people there, but boy, that website has a huge problem with marxists/tankies/antisemites.

I don’t think it’s that crazy to have to answer this, I work in investment banking and I often have to explain why I’m valuable.  It’s called a Review and it’s annoying but I use it as a chance to toot my own horn.  It’s not that hard to come up with a list of accomplishments.

If they came in the 19th century (and weren't Chinese) there were no immigration laws so it was not possible to come illegally.

Yes once upon a time entering America was "state your name" and a medical exam.  Only when the colors of said immigrants got darker was there suddenly a need for regulations.

What's interesting is that the points system we have in Canada actually made it EASIER for people with NON-EUROPEAN origins to come.  You'd think a higher education, ability to speak English, yadda would mean more Europeans, but nope, not at all.  That's how my parents got in back in the 70s (well, they were also partially educated in Canada too.  Dad did his first master's degree while my mom dropped out (no, it wasn't because of me.  They were already citizens when I was born)).

Agreed. Adding to this, I find it absurd that the supposed party of law and order has no issues with Trump pardoning rioters who assaulted police officers. That's completely inconsistent with their ideas of "backing the blue" and being proponents of law and order, and personal responsibility.

Nazis around the world are excited about Trump, Musk, and their administration. This should be incredibly alarming to anyone who want to live in a just and decent society.

Ae these reviews via e-mail with the caveat that If you didn’t respond it would be considered a resignation?
