I am just so grateful for this place because I know first hand (so to speak) that it probably isn't really half your country at all. Still a significant number of people though who approve of the way Trump is wreaking destruction in every direction. I didn't know what to say to comfort him other than to turn off the TV 🙁. You are right it's not half the country but it's too many people. I saw my shrink today and I told her the thing that pisses me off the most is how little resistance there is. There are the people who like what is happening but it's the people that don't care that make me say WTF. I'm sure a lot of them are the voters who stayed home because reasons. 5 5 8 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8613545

Bliss March 22 Share March 22 Spring is here, and after a tough winter, I want to feel hope. Instead all I seem to feel is despair about what that evil felon is doing to our world. How is all this even possible? If I hear him growl one more time about how nasty Canada is, how Canada has taken advantage of the USA, blah, blah, blah, I'm not sure my sanity can take it... This is the first time in my life I'm not seeing the cup half full, and mostly I'm worried about my grandchildren and the world they have to live in. Lantern7 March 22 Share March 22 I was poking through the Mets' schedule to see when their season began. It'll be next week. They play on the road for a week, then come home to Citi Field to face . . . the Toronto Blue Jays. How bad is it going to suck to be on that team? Both national anthems will be played, and the one that goes first might get vigorously booed. Without another Canadian team, it's always going to be the American and Canadian anthems., I really hope my fellow Mets fans don't boo the Canadian anthem. I feel that they would know better, even though the owner is a billionaire . . . and by defintion, billionaires cannot be trusted, even if "Uncle Steve" did come through and land the biggest fish in the offseason in Juan Soto 9 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8613994

Blergh March 22 Share March 22 OK, in one of those 'you can't make this up' deals, recently a Tennessee legislator proposed that the state's capital city of Nashville, Tennessee to have its airport renamed for. .#45 which [at least for now] failed in a House committee on March 18. HOWEVER, there's an online petition that's been put out to have that city's airport named for one of its most world- famous (and beloved ) residents. .Miss Dolly Parton. Yep, it would be called the Dolly Parton International Airport. As of this writing, the online petition has garnered over 18,000 signatures. 13 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8614060

Bliss March 22 Share March 22 Mr Bliss and I play with several card groups. We have a new rule: whenever someone forgets and asks, "what's trump?", we answer, "an effin' asshole!" Our bid euchre games have become semi-political as we're all extremely pissed off. We had a lot of conversations this afternoon with about 60 people, all of whom feel exactly the same. We'll never EVER trust the USA again, nor will any of us take vacations there. I used to meet friends in NYC, Rochester, Providence, Chicago, etc. to watch skating shows (Stars On Ice) or professional dance shows (DWTS or SWAY anyone?) and I have such great memories... and there'll be no more. No more picking up and going to New York for a long weekend to see a few shows, no more walking the beach at St Petes with my longtime girlfriend, no more driving from San Fran down to LA with stops along the way to enjoy the Pacific. It's all so sad that this bully has destroyed a friendship, never to be the same again. I know we'll always welcome our southern neighbours - hey, we're smarter than you think... we LOVE your money. LOL Mind you, most of you thoroughly enjoy our Muskoka lakes (great fishing!) and tell us how we're so lucky to live in such beauty. The bonus benefit to all this chaos is quite simply an exhalted Canadian pride and cohesiveness that's all about "elbows up!", buying Canadian (if something's from USA, we turn it upside down), and planning vacations at home where we have some of the most exoticly beautiful scenery in the world. If you haven't been to Banff (west), Niagara Falls (central), old Montreal (east central) or Halifax (east), you're in for some treasures. Mr. B and I are planning to spend our out-of-country vacations in Europe or anywhere other than the USA for the rest of our lives. Nice knowing y'all for the time we had together! Hang in there. (Better yet, hang the felon for his purely criminal persona. Eeek. He reeks of slimy and evil intentions.) 6 5 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8614163

Popular Post lookeyloo March 22 Popular Post Share March 22 Facebook post - Jared Mabie's Post Jared Mabie October 2, 2021 · Here is George Clooney's response after Trump accused him of being a "Hollywood elite." "Here’s the thing: I grew up in Kentucky. I sold insurance door-to-door. I sold ladies’ shoes. I worked at an all-night liquor store. I would buy suits that were too big and too long and cut the bottom of the pants off to make ties so I’d have a tie to go on job interviews. I grew up understanding what it was like to not have health insurance for eight years. So this idea that I’m somehow the “Hollywood elite” and this guy who takes a shit in a gold toilet is somehow the man of the people is laughable. People in Hollywood, for the most part, are people from the Midwest who moved to Hollywood to have a career. So this idea of “coastal elites” living in a bubble is ridiculous. Who lives in a bigger bubble? He lives in a gold tower and has twelve people in his company. He doesn’t run a corporation of hundreds of thousands of people he employs and takes care of. He ran a company of twelve people! When you direct a film you have seven different unions all wanting different things, you have to find consensus with all of them, and you have to get them moving in the same direction. He’s never had to do any of that kind of stuff. I just look at it and I laugh when I see him say “Hollywood elite.” Hollywood elite? I don’t have a star on Hollywood Boulevard, Donald Trump has a star on Hollywood Boulevard! Fuck you!" - George Clooney actor, philanthropist, humanitarian & activist 8 2 18 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8614214

suomi March 22 Share March 22 from the article: Federal judge pushes back on acting Social Security head over threat to close agency Acting Social Security commissioner Leland Dudek threatened Thursday evening to bar Social Security Administration employees from accessing its computer systems in response to a judge’s order blocking the U.S. DOGE Service from accessing sensitive taxpayer data. Less than 24 hours later — after the judge rejected his argument and the White House intervened — Dudek is saying he was “out of line.” Dudek initially told news outlets, including in a Friday interview with The Washington Post, that the judge’s decision to bar sensitive data access to “DOGE affiliates” was overly broad and that to comply, he might have to block virtually all SSA employees from accessing the agency’s computer systems. But Judge Ellen Lipton Hollander of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, who issued the order, said in a letter that Dudek’s assertions “were inaccurate.” “Employees of SSA who are not involved with the DOGE Team or in the work of the DOGE Team are not subject to the Order,” Hollander wrote in the letter on Friday sent to lawyers involved in the case. “ … Moreover, any suggestion that the Order may require the delay or suspension of benefit payments is incorrect.” In response to Hollander’s letter, Dudek said in a statement emailed to reporters just after 5:30 p.m. that the court clarified its guidance and “therefore, I am not shutting down the agency." https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/03/21/social-security-benefits-trump-doge/ 2 12 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8614239

Just clicking "like" or clicking on a grouchy face is a quieter way to vent (& venting these days is really helpful to one's blood pressure). That's what I've been doing after an exhausting week with my physical therapy. I've have so many thoughts swirling around in my head and no time/energy to post. And the Trump hits just keep on comin'! It's overwhelming. But it's nice to come here and see that others are thinking similar thoughts and posting them here. One thought I've had is that all these "stressed sideliners" that didn't vote in the 2024 election like my husband are so disgusted with politics all the way around that they're putting their fingers in their ears and going "lalalalala" to what's going on because it's become too angering for them to handle. We here are the tough people for facing it and even we could probably benefit from therapy for having the courage to do that. But those people that aren't listening to what's happening are falling farther behind and not seeing the full horror. And so they're not acknowledging the gravity of the situation. I understand that it's tough, but burying your head in the sand is only going to make you continue in not doing the right thing and voting against it next time. I actually think that Trump is banking on a lot of people not being aware of what he's really doing. That makes it easier for him to continue to do it. And fewer people to complain about it. 8 3 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8614405
Lantern7 March 23 Share March 23 Remember what I said about the sneering? Case in point. Vance takes ‘shot’ at Kamala Harris’ drinking, word salads Quote It was the vodka talking. Vice President JD Vance claimed that former Vice President Kamala Harris’ much-lampooned “word salad” pronouncements were the result of her drinking, Fox News reported. Speaking about how he has handled the vice presidential role differently than his predecessor, Vance told radio host and Daily Caller editor Vince Coglianese, “Well, I don’t have four shots of vodka before every meeting.” Vance said, “That’s one way I think that Kamala really tried to bring herself into the role, is these word salads. I think I would need the help of a lot of alcohol to answer a question the way that Kamala Harris answered questions.” Vance then shared his belief that Harris and President Joe Biden didn’t enjoy the same level of trust that Vance has with President Donald Trump. Saying his opinion was based only on “guesswork,” Vance said, “She was just less empowered to do her job. Luckily, I’m in a situation where the president trusts me, where if he asks me to do something, he believes it’s going to happen. … I feel empowered in a way that I think a lot of vice presidents haven’t been, but that’s all in the service of accomplishing the president’s vision.” Scumbag. Such a fatheaded, fat-faced scumbag. Did Kamala take shots at Pence? Of course she didn't. She's good people. Trump is giving all his minions permission to show how low class they really are. This behavior starts from the top down. They take their cues from the bully in chief. The Dems. have more class in their pinkies than all of these goons put together. They're still operating by the "old rules" where you don't punch below the belt even if you GET punched below the belt. Unfortunately this is seen as a sign of weakness and confirmation of guilt by all the low class followers of the low class president. And I am sorry but they are low class. We're not talking about money here, we're talking about decency, honor and integrity. I was reading about how Tim Walz was also a target a while back. They were questioning his "masculinity"! You can’t run on cultural issues and democracy By November 2026 thousands of federal employees will be out of work the pretty much insane policies will have kicked in and the average person will no longer have basic things they expected maybe the voters who got schilled the voters that didn’t listen to the warnings and the “when someone tells who they are believe them” voters will have a different perspective of elections matter 15 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8614429
luv2lurk March 23 Share March 23 I think I figured out why Trump wants to annex Canada - we can win in sports! Congrats to the Homan curling team who won back to back gold medals at the Women's worlds. And sorry Donald, the US team has yet to qualify for the Olympics next year. But throwing rocks in houses is something your supporters are well trained in, right? 5 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8614431
Yeah No March 23 Share March 23 6 hours ago, Yeah No said: I was reading about how Tim Walz was also a target a while back. They were questioning his "masculinity"! Seriously? This guy has more points on his "masculine card" than Trump and all his goons put together! Quoting myself here - speaking of comments about Tim Walz, the Trump side has their panties all in wad with a faux display of self-righteous outrage over Tim Walz's recent comments mocking the downturn of Tesla stock. Some called Walz's comments "beyond stupid" because many of his constituents own Tesla stock. REALLY? Meanwhile how many people get Medicaid and Social Security and yet it's OK to go ahead slashing those budgets and making millions of people in this country worry that their benefits at risk of being lowered or even cut? And that's not "BEYOND STUPID"?? Walz backpedaled on the comments saying he "probably shouldn't have" made them. But then he mentioned how they didn't care about the firing of Minneapolis VA employees and how that might affect veterans, which was good. And then he said this about Musk: Quote Maybe it's just me. If I'm the richest man in the world, I'm like out on the streets handing out money," he added. "It'd be fun as hell just to help people out. Go help people out. Not this guy. And I cheered that, but it was buried in the article. It was not the headline. So those aren't the comments that are getting the headlines. It's all about the Fox/right wing spin/narrative with the media on this. It's about what Walz said wrong. It's not about what Walz said right, or about what Trump and his people said wrong. It's about THEIR outrage, not Democratic outrage. Honestly, the more I go on the more I believe that Trump now has the media slanted in favor of showing more right leaning headlines than left leaning ones. And so that's what people are seeing. It's making Dems. look bad and them like victims. There is no counterpoint/context anymore from any news organization. I am not one for conspiracy theories but he is the author of the grievance about the media being slanted toward the left in his first presidential election and I believe that he has now found a way, with help, to skew it to favor him. Apologies, but the article and video are on a Fox News site, but that's the only place I could currently find them: https://video.foxbusiness.com/v/6370420892112 8 1 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8614463

Where is the online petition? It is a good idea. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8614468

Did you know that NOAA is still referring to the Gulf of Mexico AS the Gulf of Mexico? Or that Target's 🎯 market value has declined by $12.4 billion? 🙂 Enjoy some good news! Thank you, Proud Mary!!!!!!! This site is just what I needed, wanted have been clamoring for....a focus on the positive resistance to the madness of Trump. I am going to tell everyone I know about Anna Gifty, and get her book. Spread the word. We are gathering speed and mass to resist the takeover and dismantling the Constitution of the US. 4 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8614471

I agree. Yeah No. I've harbored this suspicion for a long time, wondering why tv news /other shows repeat so many clips of Trump/Elon/AnyMaga speaking, but rare mention of those who speak in opposition or the hundreds of demonstrations. I was even worried yesterday when this site was down, that the PTB had taken it down permanently. It's hard to keep the faith some days, but local protests and news from family and friends help. My sister sent me an article from the Omaha World Herald, about Republican US Representative Don Bacon, from Nebraska, who called Trump out over Ukraine. The headline labeled him, "Trump Critic Bacon is a man in the wilderness ". Of course, they label him a critic rather than his Congressional title, but at least they printed the info. It's a very conservative slanted newspaper and state. However, I have been wondering how the multitude of farmers/ranchers there are reacting to the tariffs. Although Big Agri has taken over many farms, it still has to hurt. 8 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8614482

It's nice to see some immediate unity and determination from the country in the wake of the tariffs and trade war. I think it's fine to bask a little in the schadenfreude of the immediate licks the Americans are taking because of the widespread ignorance as to what these tariffs actually mean in the immediate and short-term. I'm curious - are any of the Canadians a little leery about the reaction to a trade war with fascists to be a sharp increase in nationalist rhetoric? Is it a little bit eyebrow raising when six months ago someone flying a Canadian flag from their car window was more than likely a right-wing, trucker convoy hoser...but now is indistinguishable from a patriot taking a stand against Trump? Is there any of dread for what the longer-term fallout of this will be? It's all unity and 'elbows up!' now, and there's a lot of pain to come if this continues for any meaningful length of time (understandably so). With the upcoming snap election announcement, are people fully prepared for it while being caught up in the immediate excitement of feeling united as a country like it's Game 7 at the Olympic Hockey finals? Haha :) 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/217/#findComment-8614563

Haha :) I know I've wondered if it's sustainable. And if Trump could ever keep his mouth shut I could see things petering out after awhile. But that's the thing, we're not reacting to something we have done and most of us know that. So blaming our own politicians or looking to blame a sub group of the population isn't going to fly. We know who is causing this turmoil and Trump, being Trump, he keeps stirring the pot.
