Did they really have to go there with that sauna scene?

That was…..a lot. Plus the following was more male frontal nudity than I’ve seen in quite a while. The hits kept coming!

Well, that gal has a bat mitzvah to remember! 😉

Loved the "TruthCon" gathering, and Firecracker's explanation of it to Sage. ("Purpose" -- the quiet part out loud for sure!) It's the best kind of satire, just the tiniest bit removed from reality. Some of those internet "nerd bros" will object, but I could care less.

My sister hasn’t started this season yet. I told her we see a lot of Rob Benedict. Can’t wait to hear back from her on my double layers of literal meaning. Bwahahaha.

Was not expecting Will Ferrell on The Boys. Also, I now understand why Noir can talk. And isn't dead.

And Jeffrey Dean Morgan last episode.  Looks like people are wanting to get onto the show.  Can't blame them after how good it was last season.  This season seems like a bit of a drop back so far.

Yeah, I couldn't figure out why Noir was alive last episode.  I guess this explains it.  I'm also not getting why Frenchie and Komiko can't be together, they had such good chemistry.

This show has never been subtle, but it feels like in their last season they are REALLY doubling down on the message, which on the one hand I get, plus its usually hilarious, but on the other hand it lacks a lot of the more clever writing that I always enjoyed where you had to think for a second about what they were trying to tell us.

The Blind Side parody was hilarious, most I've laughed in ages over any show.

Poor Ryan, he's still just a well meaning innocent kid who's he's being used by everyone and is now stuck with his sociopathic father who is not exactly helping him deal with everything that has happened to him.

Is 13 way too young to watch Mrs. Mazel? Probably. Is a Mrs. Mazel themed Bat Mitzvah an awesome idea? Yes.

Just when I think this show cant get even more fucked up, we get the sauna scene...dear god...

Now is as good a time as any to say that I always enjoy your messages.

Sadly, I think Homelander is sincerely trying to do the best he can and be a father to Ryan, he just has no (fucking) idea of how to go about it, and no idea of other people.

I thought season five was going to be the last season.  Did they cancel it?

As for the sauna scene, no more please.

Plus his own selfishness gets in the way.

Really?  He calls non-Supes his “toys to play with”, is jealous of Ryan getting solo attention, doesn’t get that killing Koy is traumatic for Ryan, and comforts him with a milkshake?  That’s not parenting of any style.

I’m starting to wonder if SS has an underlying agenda she’s keeping a secret.

Christian also looks like he’s lost weight.  And Erin looks like she’s had cheek implants.

I still hate Annie.  Was actually glad to see Deep & Hughie get some backbone, and am rooting for A-Train’s redemption.

oh Rob why?  Why on Earth would you subject yourself to such a scene?  At least he was mostly unrecognizable.

I

Yes it is. It is narcissistic, even siciopathic,  abusive parenting style. Does not mean he wasn’t abused and is trying to do better by Ryan. I honestly think he is trying.

Yeah, Homelander really doesn't have a good role model for how to be a parent so he is doing the best he knows how, it's just that his best is pretty horrible. It is very much how the cycle of abuse works, Homelander had a terrible childhood, he wants to do better but what was done to him so shaped who he is that he just doesn't have any clue what "better" actually means. That is what makes him truly scary to me. That he is the hero in the world of his head. He truly believes that we mere humans are like ants to us, there to be squished when they become intrusive, or just when the mood hits. He does truly believe he and Ryan are above humans, that they are gods.

This show needs to stop with the social/political messaging and just tell a good story.  People want escapism, not a copy of news and social media narratives.  The writing has been mostly terrible this season. They resort to shock value too much, like the human centipede.  There has been virtually no character development this season.  Homelander and Butcher are one-dimensional.  Hughie is always the same dork.  They wreck Frenchie's relationship with Kimiko which was built up over the last couple of seasons to stick him in a random pairing that came out of nowhere and no one cares about.  And Starlight still has the worst superpower ever, but that's not the fault of this season and not much you can do about that.  The Deep is still a puppet.  A-Train is the only supe with substance. MM is the only interesting member of The Boys.

I love that how the way Butcher re-establishes his value is by brutally, gory-ly, splastickally beating and entire roomful of naked and mostly unarmed clone-guys to death in the middle of a batmitvah. "Do you fucking c**** even know what show we're on? This is the bloody Boys, for fuck's sake. What were you gonna do without me? Just... not have action scenes any more?"

That was  gross. Stick to the story, we don’t need to see shit like the sauna scene  or a bunch of naked guys with their dick swinging in the wind fighting. Tone down the shock value/gross sex. So far this season sucks only because they are ruining it with whatever the fuck they are trying to do.

And what happened to the actress who plays Starlights face? I can’t even listen to what she is saying whenever she is on the screen because she looks like a plastic surgery victim.

It is possible she just lost some weight.
