CrazyInAlabama March 21 Share March 21 Seismique, an art gallery. How lovely to see her a month after surgery, and walking around the gallery. I'm so happy for her. Month 12-playing pool with James. Down another 24 lbs. However, that salad is way too much food, and she's eating it with drssing. That's scaring me. I hope she really does save the rest of the food for later. 5 Link to comment
Hellga March 21 Share March 21 Thansk for your company tonight, my pounder pals. This lady was a slow start, but I have hopes for her. She has always tried to look nice and I think her husband and her have genuine affection for each other, so I hope that in a new place she found new motivation. There were periods in her past when she was reasonable weight, it wasn't early and continuous weight gain so hopefully she can stay on track. Maybe we will see an update on her. I think COVID messed up with their ability to film so they have short seasons and drag the pre-surgery part for so long because they don't have much filmed post-surgery... See you here next Wednesday! 7 Link to comment

My sister fell getting out of the bathtub one morning, hit her head, woke up, got up and put her bathrobe on, got back down on the floor, then called out to her husband to come help her up. They went to emergency for head exam/cat scan, and she told the nurse this sequence of events. Nurse cd not stop laughing. 7 Link to comment
EtheltoTillie March 21 Share March 21 10 hours ago, ams1001 said: Yeah, but she pretty much just started doing it an hour and a half in. She really did lose that first 73 pounds in a short time. She finally started doing the program correctly. Then they skipped the second checkup/goal and went right to surgery, since they were running out of time, but she had succeeded. But they had to devote a lot of time to that fall in the back yard and the disabled vehicle. The fall in the back yard was something else. I can't stand those weigh ins where they have the scale going back and forth interminably before showing the number and then when they cut to commercial and repeat that sequence before showing the number. Puh-leeze. 5 Link to comment

Glad for her that it at least happened in the relative privacy of their yard and not in the middle of a public place. (Imagine all the people staring!) 5 Link to comment

The Supersize (who came up with that edition name at TLC?) is on tonight 7 to 9 p.m. Central. It was a good episode. I really thought she wasn't going to succeed, but you'll like how the story develops. It will be interesting to me to see what the Bonus Scenes are. And the kindness shown to the family was so touching, from the fire personnel, and the mechanics shop. 1 1 Link to comment

But I’m always surprised at the emotional manipulation they employ to get relatives to drive them to Houston and often times stay to nurse them. I wouldn’t do it. Which makes me a cold person, I suppose, but you can’t expect people to just drop their lives after you ate your way to 600lbs over many years. Right? She calls her brother, weeping and sighing. He lives in another state and takes care of his elderly parent, but has to drop everything to wipe her tears and drive her to Texas. I have several cups from multiple brands in my fridge...Siggi's, Fage, and Oikos. They're all cherry flavored (the Fage is black cherry and the others are just regular cherry). I know grapes and oranges are taboo; what's the verdict on cherries? (I also use dried cherries in my oatmeal a lot, and have at least two bags of frozen cherries in the freezer. One of them is destined for a sauce to mix into the large container of plain Fage yogurt I also have in the fridge; the other I've used for smoothies with kefir (aka drinkable yogurt) and cherry-chocolate milkshakes. I might have a problem. 🍒) (Edit: I forgot about the bottle of Wegman's black cherry kefir, which I haven't tried yet.) Edited March 21 by ams1001 1 Link to comment
Pepper Mostly March 21 Share March 21 @ams1001, so far I think cherries are not on the Forbidden List. Probably too exotic a fruit for the 600 pounders. Just step away from the grapes! 2 Link to comment

Gotta stop at Trader Joe's and restock my dried cherries on my way home from an appointment this afternoon (it's the only place I can find the kind I like...it's pretty much the only thing I ever buy there; I usually get four bags at a time and they last me a few months). 1 Link to comment

CrazyInAlabama March 22 Share March 22 (edited) I'm watching the Supersize edition of Delana, and her story is even sadder the second time around. I'm wondering if she had tooth damage even as a child, the pictures of her don't show pearly whites even as a child. I know several people who never had proper dental care as kids and as adults, and their teeth are just as badly decayed. That's so dangerous for your health. I don't know why they blurred the McDonald's stuff, as if we wouldn't recognize the fries package, and burgers immediately. I hate that right after James and Delana are discussing giving up sweets, they have that Nerd Gummy cluster commercial. Did I miss it, or did they cut the fall on the way to grocery shopping? Yes it was voyeurism porn, but it was also great TV. Link to comment

Ever since I discovered Cabot's Greek yogurt, it's been absolutely my most preferred brand, but they only make big tubs, not cups. At home I usually mix some plain full-fat Greek yogurt, honey or a bit of homemade fruit preserves (most decidedly NOT sugar-free!) and fresh berries and/or nuts. I use cups if I am grabbing something to take and eat work, and for cups I usually go for Chobani, the least offensive texture of the big manufacturer brands (unfortunately all yogurts in the US are not quite like the ones in Europe). Usually lemon, lime or pomegranate for me, sometimes raspberry. 2 Link to comment

I like a couple of their cheddar cheeses (Farmhouse Reserve and New York Vintage, though Wegmans hasn't had the latter lately.) I'll have to see if anyone carries it. I like the regular Oikos but it seems only ShopRite carries it (others only seem to have the Triple Zero, which I tried once because my mom had a couple in the fridge while I was cat-sitting, and couldn't even finish the container because it was so gross). I try to avoid yogurts with various gums in them. 1 Link to comment
