S10.09: Forbidden Fruit

I had to laugh when Scheana was talking about the party (where they all wore white) and I said to myself "what, another event? it's not the wedding yet?" And then like the next scene was Lala enumerating all the various events they were supposed to attend.

So this wedding weekend is right at the beginning of Tom/Raquel's great love affair and I know, we're all saying we can see things now given what we know, but there were several moments last night where Raquel seemed to be catching Sandoval's eye or secretly smirking about something he was saying or doing.

I noted it especially when they called Schwartz over to the table to ask him about his dinner with Katie and tell him to start kissing others. Raquel popped over to the table (as Ariana mentioned in her talking head) and was standing at the corner of the table directly opposite of Sandoval. He was ranting about Katie and whatever else and she for sure caught his eye and gave what looked like that kind of secret smile when you share a private joke with someone else.

In general Raquel was certainly feeling herself last night and loving that she was in with the group while Katie was out. And whoa has karma come for her.

Schwartz is such a dick. He also looks every minute of his 40 years. I’m pretty sure he showed up drunk and just got worse. 
I’ve long had a theory that the reason Jax and the two Toms managed to stay friends as long as they did was that they’re all three sociopaths. None of them are truly capable of caring about another person or career or anything really. They just bounce from one dopamine hit to the next. I think they recognized that in each other and didn’t have to pretend to be “normal” around each other.

And what da fuck is up with DJ Muppet yet again, probably going to ask (insert name of current girlfriend  here) to marry him? He's  never gotten over LaLa and the stink of desperation is on him to stay relevant and get a Bravo paycheck.

Of course just because I think Schwartz is a dick doesn’t mean I won’t rag on Katie. 
What is the deal with her tattoos? I’m not a tattoo person myself but often like them on other people. And lord knows this group loves some tattoos. I think Stasi was the only full time cast member without a tattoo. Maybe Rachel too? Anyway, I like lots of the tattoos the cast has, but not Katie’s. Those are the ugliest tattoos I’ve ever seen. That leopard thing on her wrist has bothered me for years and now she has a bunch that look like a kid drew on her arm with markers. I think they’re really ugly and just don’t get them in general. Do they mean anything? Is it a popular style Im not aware of?

Speaking about WWHL and John Owen Lowe.  It always amazes me that many of these celebrity guests admit to watching and being fans of Bravo shows.  Doesn’t a young, handsome son of a movie star have other things to do with his evenings?  Yeah, if you are Michael Rappaport and this is what you do to make extra change, ok, but can’t imagine anyone with a life ( which, I know doesn’t say much for me) spending their time on this dreck.  And I agree, he was not allowed to promote his show at all.

I don't understand why Scheana and Katie hate each other. Also, Scheana makes mean comments about Katie, but Ariana, Katie's bestie never says anything, and Sheana doesn't seem to mind that Ariana and Katie are friends. Sheana made a comment that Kristina probably hasn't changed much since she is friends with Katie-- but Ariana and Lala are friends with Katie... I don't get it.

I don't think anyone really likes Sheana, and most of the guys are there for Brock.

I caught WWHL with Schwartz and John Owen Lowe last night. You all have pretty much said all there is to say, but wow, John Owen Lowe appears like and has a lot of the same mannerisms of his father! :-O

After hearing Schwartz talk about how great he and Katie's marriage was, I am not surprised to hear he was unaware of Sandoval cheating on Arianna.

I don't think Schwartz was unaware. He knew about the one night stand in August (I don't think he clarified when he found out), but he covered up for Sandoval for at least a few months because he didn't say anything to Ariana, for example. He said on WWHL that people (who exactly?) knew about the affair.

Just getting around to watching this.

EVERYTHING that came out of Schwartz’s mouth at that dinner was planted by Sandoval and has been festering for years. He’s damned lucky she didn’t throw that plate in his face. He was at his most immature, disgusting, hurtful self in that scene. Underneath that puppy dog naivete/dumbass act is a cruel person. They both just need to not have any contact whatsoever — they are toxic together. I still don’t know what was the point of that dinner.

Feelings are obviously still there between Lala and James, God knows why. 

Lisa, I think, needs to take a step back and let the Toms sink or swim with S&S. That may be the best thing that could happen to these chucklefucks. 

Scheana and the private pool bullshit and quarantining Katie across the complex. Hun, unless that hotel has your name on it, you don’t tell people where they may or may not go. Rachel delivering that news was comedy gold. I had no idea that a swim up bar was a bar in a pool. Thanks, Rach!

I know it sounds strange to think they’re carrying torches for each other, but just like with Rachel she seems to be very “concerned” about Alli, and James is still sounding pissed over Rand. 

Speaking of Rand…I was up early Saturday and Bravo’s late movie was something starring Bruce Willis…directed by Rand. My cable info gave it one star. Bravo is really reaching to promote VR if it’s resorting to Randall Emmett, LOL (as if most people outside of film trivia buffs know who he is).

What the hell is an open secret? If it's a secret then it's not open. If it's open then it definitely isn't a secret because other people know about it. Andy Cohen was right when he said Schwartz was talking word salad. 

There is something magical about Rob Lowe's looks. He is incredibly good looking even at almost 60. John Owen looks more like his mother and he lacks the charisma Rob has.

Yes, people notice stuff like this. I’ve been in work environments where couples thought they were being “discreet”, and it came as no surprise when they “announced” their relationship months later. I’m sure it’s no different here, other than maybe the depth of the deception.

Rachel’s behavior around Ariana was pretty shameless, and Sandoval was being Sandoval, so Ariana had no clue there, either. The ones who are most affected are usually the last to know.

Kristina was a friend of some cast members (mostly Stassi's), and a server at SUR from the beginning (Season 1) until a few years ago. On another note, I've noticed James Kennedy in the background of the customary season finale SUR photo shoot at Lisa's house in S2. He was not part of the photo shoot, but a hanger on since he was Lisa's protege. He soon became a full cast member. 

As for Lala and Raquel choosing more glamorous nicknames/versions of their names, Stassi did the same. She was Stacy before (her name is Nastassia).

I have rewatched this episode a few times…mainly fast-forwarding through scenes until I got to Rachel’s.

I could have sworn in one of her THs that she said Sandoval gave her “advice” about “being true to herself” or something. The way she said it, and who said it, struck me as a huge tell that something was going on between them. But I couldn’t find the scene, so maybe it was in the prior week’s episode…but I know I heard something that pricked my ears. Am I alone here?

Rachel was obviously just playing with dumbass Schwartz. ALL his scenes were just beyond cringe — especially interrupting Katie’s dinner to ask if she would still trim his pit hairs after hiding in the bushes waiting to make his move. Gawd.

She was in seasons 1-3 as Stassi's main butt kisser, especially when the other friends were not being her friend.  I never noticed James in the background of season 2, but he showed up at the beginning of season 3 as Kristen's new boyfriend/SUR busboy, so it makes since that he would have been there earlier.  He was also Lisa's son Max's friend, and his family were friends of the VDPs, so with or without Kristen he was probably headed for this show!

You read my mind! In the last 2 episodes, Raquel is definitely thinking she's all that, and more. Personally, when the guys talk about how stunning Raquel is, I don't see it like I do with Scheana, Ariana or Stassi, even Katie...

I believe if he used "open secret" then the guys working at S&S probably saw them, or some of their close guy friends (guy code). If the women on the cast knew, it would have come out. Same with production... talk would get out.

Haha! Closed captioning can be very helpful but also very amusing because of the funny mistakes they make. Cox cable TV is probably the worst. Not sure who they use for CC but you actually need another interpreter to interpret the closed caption interpreters.

So am I the only one that just can't get myself to dislike Schwartz and hope he and Katie get back together somewhere in time?

Filming ended in mid September 2022 according to photos from the cast's IG (eg. Raquel's). The affair became more intense later on, and I'm sure they tried to be somewhat careful before. Their cover was that they were friends. But, on last night's episode, Sandoval grabbed Raquel's butt when they were leaving the hotel bar by the pool. I don't know if the cast saw it, but the camera caught it. Also, Raquel and Sandoval were flirty in the pool (same episode). With Ariana next to them. 

Some of Sandoval's guy friends would keep a secret, like Schwartz who is Sandoval's best friend, but some like James wouldn't- he is not really a friend, he is a show friend. Some women would expose the affair, some wouldn't. Jo, Schwartz's girlfriend was with Raquel and Sandoval in Big Bear. She didn't tell anybody, she is only Raquel's friend now.
