This week wasn't much better than last week (I'm all for worker's rights and unions, just... not in my teen shows) and I did nod off again at one point, but I got a good laugh from "Bring the beanie unto me" and the way they're using the classic comic books as a visual stand-in for characters' minds.

I was starting to think Toni's kid was named Baby Anthony, but Moose called him Anthony, no Baby, this episode and it was refreshing. I think Moose should get custody as he's the only adult in the kid's orbit who isn't in a gang or following a cult leader right now.

But how is the kid ever supposed to survive in Riverdale if he isn’t raised by a serial killer, gang leader, whatever the Blossoms are, a gangster, or in a cult?

The show needs a new mustache twirling bad guy since  Hiram died but Percival is not working for me on any level.

the comic book stand in for what characters are thinking is fun.

How many more episodes are there this season? It feels like we should be getting to the end, but I thought I heard the finale isn't until July 31st?

You make a good point.

Yeah, I've got to say I'm not a fan of this Percival storyline.  I used to love this show and all its silliness.  Now I can barely get through it, and am looking forward to the season ending.

Man. There was no part of me that expected Riverdale to understand the basic principle of how unionization works, considering how it doesn't understand the basic principle of how any other human endeavor operates, but can I still be frustrated?

Also frustrating: Toni gets mad at Fangs for almost punching Kevin, and then she actually punches Kevin, in front of a witness. Like, this custody dispute is stupid from all angles, but come on.

I'm interested to know what's up with Heather.

I really do love that I'm watching a show where it's suppose to be a good thing that a freaking baby is going to be "initiated" into a gang.  In the real world or, hell, most other television shows, this would be the origin story for some kind of villain.  But in Riverdale, you know it's actually going to be the right thing because when the other option is an easily manipulated guy who is basically working with the devil, biker gang parents are the way to go!

I know Percival is evil and all, but considering that he seems to have an ungodly amount of wealth and power, what is the point of mistreating his workers and opening them up to being swayed by Archie and unionizing?  Feels like it would be way more beneficial to continue to pacify his merry band of pushovers and call it a day.  It feels like he's just creating conflicts now and openings for the gang to get a win now, because he's bored and wants to make this more competitive.  Really, a more competent version of this character would have probably already fulfilled his plan after two episodes.

Charles is back and dying, but now is possibly saved thanks to a blood transfusion from Veronica, naturally.  Looks like he's going to assist Betty with catching TBK now: which will involve a serial killer convention at the casino.  Because those two ideas always go hand and hand...

Percival does managed to take Jughead off the board for now by messing with his mind so that he now hears everyone's thoughts no matter what.  Looks like Jughead is going to hide in the bunker for now to try and regain control, but we shall see!

Still think something is up with Heather.

I forgot about this, but it was really funny when Percival revealed that Baby Anthony represents hope for the future of Riverdale... you know, considering how inauspicious his life has been so far.

Maybe that also answers the question of why Percival is so bad at taking over -- Riverdale is just the kind of place where everyone and everything's incompetent. Your greatest hope, your greatest villain -- both very lackluster, brought down by the energy in this horrible town.

I have a hard time finding things to say about this show. Generally I'm fine watching it but some things are straining my ability to suspend disbelief. The serial killer gene, for example, which seems to have very little to do with the person as a whole, but occasionally makes them do terrible things that have nothing to do with anything else they do in life and drives them to law enforcement as a profession.

Why anyone would stay in Riverdale, although I vacillate about Archie. He may simply be working through whatever happened to him during 'the war' and his father's death.  Why Percivale would want it. How there is enough money to support Veronica's casino.

This season has become a truly tragic combination of stupid and boring, and not in a fun kind of way. Percival just isn't that good of a villain, I still keep waiting to find out this is taking place in yet another alternate dimension, and the only characters I really like at this point are Archie, Tabitha, and sometimes Toni. Everyone else has either joined up with Satan or are just being annoying far up their own ass. I do think the old school comics being used to read peoples minds are fun.

Percival is a stupid villain, if he's so rich why is he even bothering to mess with his workers, why not just keep the lemmings happy? I know he wants to destroy Riverdale, but doesn't he need lackies to do that? I will never stop laughing about this show trying to tell a semi serious story about the importance of labor unions in the middle of this battle between heaven and hell while our heroes deal with their unexplained super powers.

Poor baby Anthony, his only options are being inducted into a cult or a biker gang. I guess that's how it is when your born in Riverdale, the best case scenario for the poor kid is Moose getting custody and moving far far away, he seems to be the only person involved with this custody mess who has any common sense.

Charles is never to be trusted, Betty should have just let her mom pull the plug, that would have been the most useful thing that Alice has ever done.

I have felt like that every season since the (not)D&D season. And yet every year it gets worse, and I'm still here.

The final scene with Jughead, when he heard voices from "Rivervale," are pointing in that direction. I think Rivervale is probably bleeding into Riverdale, and after this season finally goes as far as it can in the supernatural/off-canon direction, we'll get a reset back to normal Riverdale for the final season.

If that happens I may tune in for the final season instead of just reading about the ridiculousness here. But I haven't truly enjoyed Riverdale since Season One concluded, so it's a really strong may.

I'm still watching, but at this point I'm tuning in in hopes they'll explain away the current dreck at the end of the season, and reset to something halfway decent and/or interesting. (I do think a reset is coming.) The current show is utterly joyless. Somehow they've managed to suck the fun out of having superhero type powers.

This whole Percival thing is so tedious. And still six episodes to go?  When you groan every time the villain appears, that’s.a sure sign they have created a bad villain. The season did manage to ruin two characters, Frank and Kevin.  They shouldn’t even try to give them a redemption arc, they are both so pathetic.  I do like the FBI chick who is an expert in both the paranormal and medical procedures.  A true renaissance woman. This show needs Hiram back.  He’d better return for the final season.

The Blossoms have been serial killers (Penny was behind the G&G deaths IIRC), cult members/leaders (G&G and then the other cult from an early season and the cult they started relatively recently), and on top of that they now have witchy ancestry.
