I was going to comment on Jeremiah being the first, or one of the very few, that will try and "make it work", or "see as it goes". As also advised by the hosts.

After seeing an insane amount of shows where the catfish is pleading for their lives to show: "everything was real". The love, the connection. It's just the pictures that were not.

And they all end up saying: If you would have just been honest from the get go. No problem. But I cannot get past the fact that you lied. It's not about your looks. Or the fact that it's not you in the pictures.

The time someone on the other end is to be considered good looking, and not really caring all that much compared.

Jeremiah brings his son. No worries. Let's see how it goes 🙂

 I've only watched the first episode so far this season, but it had that same gist.  However they did point out to the catfisher that it wasn't just a lie about her pictures; it was also a lie about not having a way to video chat.

I'm up to the 2nd episode of the season, which was Courtney (black nose ring and colored hair) and Chris (lives in Turkey).  I really worry about her (lack of) independent thought...when they asked her what she likes about him, she said he introduced her to anime and music, and that 90% of what she listens to now is because of him and so is her personality...and she said that when she heard he lived in Turkey, it became her favorite country and she basically became obsessed with it.  Guurrl, maybe don't completely adopt all new interests and personality for a guy, especially such a sketchy guy.  And what was up with the 'engagement'?  He sent her a meme of an engagement and she thought they were actually engaged?

I still haven't decided if I think Chris is a guy or a girl. I know he said that he's a guy, and there's a hormone thing, but everything about the facial structure and voice seemed like a girl.  It was only how 'he' sat that seemed masculine.  Given that Courtney said they had broken up and gotten back together tons of times, it's not too surprising that Chris had a change of mind about Courtney visiting and wants to just be friends.  Girlfriend needs to move on and stop holding out hope of seeing the lavender fields.

So the Apryl (tatoo big-chested girl from Canada) and Daryl (artist who had never kissed anyone) episode was unusual.  I really want to believe that he is just a very shy guy who was clueless that Apryl liked him that way.  But the whole thing with his sister Candace and his Insta was weird.  He said something about always reading all of the messages, even though Candace responded to a lot of them for business, yet he seemed unaware of some of them.  Anyway, it seemed like a happy ending, so maybe it really will work out for them.

Jeremiah needs to slow his roll when it comes to involving his son in his dating life.  Wait until you know that the woman will be a part of your life for more than a hot second.

I noticed that she basically said she didn't think she'd done anything wrong (and no one called her out on it).  If I were Jeremiah, that would be a red flag.  Kami even asked if she realized he bought a plane ticket to Florida.  I just don't think this chick has thought about the impact on him of what she did...but she's pretty, so, hey, it's all good apparently.

I loved Nev's parents giving their opinions on everything. Better his parents than his wife.

I did not catch how old Brittany is, but I think she said she had the affair for 3 years, and it's been 3 years since the affair ended.  She looks very young to me, so I really wonder how old she was when the affair started.

Did Billy have a magic schlong?  Because I cannot figure any other reason that she would have stayed with such a slime-bucket for so long, and then wanted to get back with him even though he clearly (as presented to her) hadn't left his wife yet...and why on earth, when she thought he had posted the nudes, would she give him even more ammunition, in the form of more nude pics and a masturbatory video?  

She really presented as a genuinely pathetic human being in terms of her completely subsuming herself for Billy.  I hope that with this new boyfriend, she's found herself.

I thought her belief was that Bobbi had gotten ahold of the photos and posted them, not Billy?

Before she ever knew about Bobbi's involvement, she thought Billy had posted them because Bobbi's fake guy "Mark" specifically told her that.  But when she actually spoke with Bobbi, Bobbi said that the pictures never had been posted by her or Billy.

Wow, what a mess this Brittany is. We didn’t get to see this Billy and what could possibly be so desirable about him, but the wife is the wife. Brittany is the interloper. The husband is a cheater and liar.
Kami said something about Brittany being 22. That’s still old enough to know right from wrong. Even though it was Bobbi behind this nonsense, just the idea that Brittany was willing to go up to their house at what she thought was Billy’s command is really disrespectful.

Bobbi also, if she’s this deep into ensuring her husband doesn’t cheat again, maybe they should get some marriage counseling. She and Brittany sniping at each other over this guy, ugh. And Brittany’s attitude, telling the wife she’s stupid or whatever...just back off, girl.

I kept falling asleep in the Kailan and Jordan (Tahj) episode, so I'm wondering what his age was.  She admitted that when she was 11 and first met him on-line, she said she was 18, and he said he was 19.  She is 23 and in the intro part, I think she said he was 22.  Is that how old he really was?  Also, it sounded like he was making excuses for why he stood her up when she flew all the way to see him...is that what he was doing or did he ever apologize?  So, he didn't feel about her the way he made it sound like he was in his texts?

The Diamond & Steve episode was definitely strange, and we never found out why. All these people's "names" & how they made their living just made my head spin.

It was this episode that made me realize that I've probably aged out of this show.  I couldn't keep up with who's who.  Although, do people who are in the same demographic even watch TV anymore?  Or, are these shows geared toward us "old folk" so we can think we're "hip"?

I just saw a really old episode about Brian, a soldier from Alabama with PTSD and girl from PA.  There were obviously some serious issues and they tried, but things didn’t work out. I then saw he was killed in a motorcycle accident.  Very sad and tragic.

It took me all of four seconds of listening and seeing Diamond that Steve would never date her. He was no prize but she was just tacky and full of herself. And those nails! I don’t think she’s as popular as she wants us to believe.

It seems like they used to have to work harder to get to the real identity.  Now, it's a quick phone number search, that looks pretty accessible to anyone.  It's a little more work than that, but it's nothing they couldn't have tried, themselves.  For all the time the victims spend obsessing over these situations, couldn't they do that much?  Every now and then, they have someone who has put some energy into trying to uncover the truth, but for the most part, they don't do the simplest things to find anything out.

Anybody else watching Catfish UK? The hosts, Oobah & Julie, sound so astonished that this is a thing that happens. It makes me wonder if they somehow had never heard of this before.

Edited: Turns out the latest episode had a catfish that was an international Nigerian scammer, and they ended up getting law enforcement involved. That was new. But, you know how they show messages that the catfish & the catfishee send each other? Well, judging by the headshot she was using compared to what she really looks like, she had a bit of catfish going on herself.

I just came here to say the exact same thing! What was that picture she was using? Fifty pounds ago and pointedly not showing her weird teeth?  She barely looked like the same person. I am not mocking her actual appearance I am mocking her using such a completely different photo to lure this guy in. Who catfished whom?

In regard to the Catfish UK episode that ended with it being a Nigerian scammer, I was shocked (Shocked, I tell you!!) to see that the hosts were so Shocked (Shocked!!) that it was.  It was exactly the situation that Dr Phil uncovers every month or so and we all see it coming a mile away.  From what we've learned from Dr Phil, it won't do a bit of good bringing in law enforcement, because none of them has been caught yet (or I don't think so).  You'd think someone on the U.S. side of the production would have been aware of what's known about this little Nigerian industry.

Wow, the Adam/Mercy episode was rough. I really felt bad for Adam. I didn't believe one word of the catfisher's sad story, & I hope Adam really didn't mail him the wedding ring.

I have to admit, when he appeared on screen, I kept wondering why nobody else realized he was a  she & kept trying to figure out how she did the mustache. Until he said Tiana was his dead name, then I got it.

This episode seemed like such a waste.  Have they run out of real situations to investigate?  Everyone involved in this one was annoying, and nothing about it was compelling.

After taking a break from the show for a few years, I've started watching again. But so many of the episodes seem so contrived. I know the producers have always manipulated things to make a better show, but I feel like it's gotten worse. The latest Catfish UK episode with the lesbian Scottish couple seemed really fake. Like maybe they made the entire thing up in order to get new followers. Since they knew the account that was sending them gifts, they easily could have reached out on their own to the person asking them who they were, or asking them to stop sending them gifts! And if the woman who was sending nice gifts knew it was creeping them out, why did she continue to do it? None of it really made sense.

I agree with you here on this episode, it really was an odd/ridiculous scenario wasn't it? For many reasons, and I'll list a few: 

1. The beligerant brother in the beginning -- too obvious and felt like something they threw him in to cast suspicion on him. 

2. These women did TikToks in front of their house, number in plain sight, and live in a small town. It took mere minutes for the Catfish UK people to figure out where they lived. And the gals were shocked, I mean SHOCKED, that someone found their address?

3. The woman who sent the gifts was totally weird. She looked like a deer in the headlights. No way she sent "nice gifts with good intentions" because clearly, she knew they were creeping the gals out and she kept sending them anyway? And the gifts always included the note something along the lines of "I will always win"? I mean, she couldn't include a note that read: "Have a great day, your TikToks make me smile!"? 

4. If I were the Scottish TikTokers, I would have nothing to do with that woman, which makes me think it was a made up story to attract more followers.

In sum - it really wasn't a plausible story.

I really wish that at some point, Kamie had advised Emma that it's not a good idea to send nude pix to basically anyone, especially to someone you have never met.  It's a message girls need to hear, especially girls who are younger and less experienced than Emma, and more likely to fall for this stuff.

I am so glad GaT wrote this because I was very confused when I saw the that PSA on the screen at the end about "If you are a trans person", but I didn't remember hearing anything about anyone being trans.  For some of the show, I was only listening and not watching the screen, so when I heard them ask what's up with the phone number showing for Tiana, I thought he said it was his "dad's" number, and I hadn't heard the whispering between Nev and Kamie...I thought Tiana was kind of a weird name for a guy, but maybe it was a foreign name.  So after I read GaT's comment, I went back and watched that part of the show again, with closed caption on, and then I saw/heard the whispering and that that's when they found out EJ was trans.  Even from the start, I wondered about that goatee....it looked like a cardboard piece of black paper glued onto his chin.

I thought it was something fake that was glued on too (and still do), that's why I wondered so much about the mustache, I thought that must be fake too & couldn't figure out how it was attached.

Gabby and Kendrick was whack.  That guy Tim seemed like a sociopath, like he was only mouthing the apology words because he knows that's what one is supposed to do in such situations.  (If anyone watches The Bachelorette, I got Jamie vibes from him -- the guy from Michelle's season who some people liked at first but turned out to be a weirdo.)  Also, it was odd that when Kendrick was supposedly in the hospital, and still communicating with her, that she didn't suggest coming to see him, since he was only 2 hours away.

I found Fernando very personable when they got him on, and I actually liked him, and really wanted to have it work out for them, in theory.  But when they showed the follow-up 2 months later, and he still hadn't come to the US, and was going to get the papers "tomorrow", I figured he never would.  He had seemed so gung-ho and enthusiastic about coming when they did the episode, and yet 2 months later he still hadn't even taken the necessary first steps.  And even given his story about not believing his looks are enough, that wouldn't explain telling her over TWENTY times that he was coming, and then not.

Lord help us with Onyx.  He's been talking with Lola for months, and says she is sent from heaven for him, but, uh, he doesn't know her last name.  And in terms of where she works, well, "we haven't gotten to that".
