I've stopped watching, but caught a few episodes recently. Always happy to see Telma Hopkins. Took me awhile to figure out who the other woman at the table was. Does anyone know why they recast Amy? Did they offer it to the original actress first? 

And regarding the women's make-up, I suppose that's been discussed here, but when did they hire RuPaul to do make-up?

I looked her up, she hasn't been acting for a while. They wanted to get the other actress because she worked with Thelma on Half and Half and they wanted to reunite them.

Also, I post a lot on FB groups. They always malign Sharon, Diane and Phyllis and Victor and Claire. Do you all dislike them too? I dislike Phyllis most of the time but she does entertain me sometimes too (same goes for Victor). Sharon can be annoying sometimes but I do like her. At least in my opinion she's  not a phony. And it's not fair to treat Diane like Adam since she has paid her dues. I like her now. Claire is okay, it's nice to see someone that is not a viper like Phyllis and is genuinely nice.

That's funny what you say about Diane. I think the people didn't like her said she didn't change and I got the impression they thought she was some sort of ice princess. I like that Diane is nice but want her to be snarky in the right occasion (to Phyllis of course and Ashley).

This might be an unpopular opinion but I really like Diane and Jack as a couple. For GC standards they seem like a pretty normal couple, not very dysfunctional like Victor and Nikki .

So do I.  This is the best pairing Jack's had since he was with that psychiatrist, Emily, a long time ago.  I love Peter Bergman, even when he's Cryin' Jack and I love Susan Walters portrayal of Diane.  IMO, she's added a lot to the show since she was brought back.

Reminds me of ~5-yr-old Abby's flying off the pony like Bonnie Blue.  When Victor told her to get back on the horse, little Abby (played by Darcy Rose Byrnes) said "I hate you!" to Victor very convincingly.

Never have I been so happy to see Danny Romalotti swoop in and make Phyllis even more miserable. The way she worked her way through the party dusting everyone with her hatred and jealousy was sickening. 
Why was Daniel even out if he’s in mourning? Stay home with your daughter you fool. 
Does anyone get as dolled up as Nikki to sit on the couch with her husband? 
Did Faith ever get a horse?

I started watching after all the Dianes were on. Susan was my first Diane as I watched a year or two after Carly Diane left.

I heard that too about Carly Diane. I can only think of her as Carly on ATWT.

I felt like he knew because he's teamed up with Victor before to punish his father, but maybe it was because he wasn't close to him because of how he was raised or other reasons.

So are we supposed to gloss over that sure, maybe Sharon didn’t kill Heather but she still tampered with and tossed a DEAD BODY over a railing into a river. She, Nick and the kids are all swanning around with cheers of her not being punished since the investigation is being reopened but hello…she still committed a crime! Come on. I know this show is stupid sometimes but this takes the cake. I hope Michael knocks some sense into them.
Also, shallow note Phillis looked great today with her hair back. It usually just hangs there all stringy. I also liked Cricket’s outfit. I’m a sucker for a lot of sparkle. 😄

I think Diane is the best dressed woman on the cast right now. Especially since she's also the most age appropriate. Nikki's isn't bad, she's age appropriate but she's had some misses.

Well, PCP is a hallucinogenic so it is possible that she actually did not transport/dump the body. It's possible that wackadoodle duo brought her with them to do that and told her she did it herself. It's possible.

I loved the look on Phyllis's face when Danny came in and gave Christine a kiss. Serves her right. Yes if he was so miserable Daniel, he should have been home with his daughter.

I heard Aria got a horse too and she's not even a real Newman.

She was drugged against her will, so there's that. I don't know how they would approach that with the law. Christine is not on a lot but she dresses great.

She could have hallucinated that she transported and dumped the body and all the stuff with the towels I agree. When we saw her do it, we didn't know she was drugged. I don't know with this dumb storyline.

My takes on the NYE outfits:

• Christine - kinda retro but I liked it on her.
• Lauren - unexpectedly chic and it fit her well.
• Phyllis - kind of her usual look, but without cold shoulders, décolletage, and thigh slits. Good holiday color.
• Summer - I didn't hate the tuxedo look but I still think the CEO of a major Italian fashion house should dress better. Maybe she didn't want to risk outshining her mommy. Sure.
• Diane - was not a fan of the weird armpit cutout. Otherwise it was her typical sheath dress look.
• Abby - so shiny and tight it seemed like it was made from a diver's wetsuit.* Ehh. (*GMTA, @ScoobieDoobs!)
• Tessa - absolutely loved the color and the style. AFAIC Tessa wins NYE.
• Traci - why can't they put her in something other than the velour and satin kimono jackets?
• Mariah - was she coming from an office party? Not a very festive vibe.
• Faith - it was like she picked her outfit from the remainders bin in Fenmores' basement a couple of hours ago.
• Sharon - solid fail. The jumpsuit's print was too busy and the fit didn't seem comfortable. However, I think someone like Sally could've werked it.
• Nikki - typical society matron spending the holiday evening at home away from the GC poors. And again with a chunky chain link necklace?
• Claire - she was dressed appropriately for a young woman stuck spending NYE with Grandma and Grandpa. Too bad she doesn't have any galpals she could go out with instead.

Audra's out of town but where were Lily, Sally, Chelsea, and Chloe?

Yeah, they needed Nate, workin’ a lavender velvet tux & Audra in a neon orange tighty-tight va-va-voom dress to spice things up.

At least Mikey was trying to be diff.  Jackie was ready to go to the office.  Boring.  Danny & Daniel?  Eh, more boring.  Poor Traci in some dull shapeless sheer thing.  

Yeah, Diane’s dress cut-out was a bit odd & out of character for her.  The.Bug’s dress & hair?  She looked like she was trying too hard to not be her usual boring self.

I’m having trouble quoting previous posts. Lauren mentioned that Kevin, Chloe and the kids were at Disney for the holidays. I will assume Sally is with Billy somewhere.  No idea about Chloe and Lily.
 

Also, it was completely silly that Abby did not walk out with Tessa said she needed to get some air. She was clearly stumbling and saying she didn’t feel well. She looked to be in distress.

Diane always looks comfortable in her clothes and hairdos; I sometimes wonder if she wears her own clothes & does her own hair.  She's a great example of how a 60-something woman can be hot and sexy while understatedly chic.

Nikki often looks stiff or uncomfortable in her outfits and hairdos.

Summer❄️x7 once again prove that she’s only a mother when it’s convenient to be a mother. Her poor sick child is at home but she rather be with Manic Phyllis🕷️and Daniel on New Year’s Eve.  

 

I thought for sure Auntie Jordan was going to abduct Claire/Eve but it was Sharon that she abducted outside of Society.  Please tell me how did Auntie Jordan know there Sharon will be there when it was a last minute decision. Once again I’m being a silly rabbit.  Ian has revealed himself to Mariah but did Mariah foil an abduction plot.

I was watching on my phone at the gym but did Ian look at Tessa’s tablet? He said he put his number in it? Maybe there was a text from Mariah saying she would be waiting for Sharon’s arrival so they kept Mariah distracted? 

I thought I was gonna puke when the opening scene was Victor mumbling “Baby.” For the love of God — it has been 40 years of that. Please stop!

Now how is kidnapping Tessa and Sharon going to tie in with Ian using Phyllis for his revenge plans?

They are also trying to convince us how much in love they are. Blech. To me neither actor ever has any romantic chemistry with anyone so especially each other.

So I had this whole post typed out and ready to send, or so I thought. Then I realized it was all a dream lol anyway…

I really liked all the NYE dresses, especially Phyllis’ with the high neck. Until I got a look at her feet. BOOTS? with an evening gown? What the holy fuck is the costume designer thinking????

sid not like Faith’s dress or hair. What is with these plastered down hair style and barrettes on grown women?

abby’s dress, while clearly painted on, looked really good on her, and Sharon, despite the Pebbles Flintstone hair, also looked the best I’ve seen her in forever. Too bad she won’t get to enjoy NYE with her family. And speaking of family, Mariah left the house forever ago and didn’t arrive at Society until after midnight? And Nick and Faith, who wanted to celebrate with Sharon, stayed at the ranch until after midnight? Was Nick planning to change his clothes at any point or just show up for a formal party looking like he was hanging around the house all day? 

How did Jordan know Sharon was going to party at Society? She was spying on Claire, who told Esther about her own plans, but not Sharon’s. And no one other than those at the house knew, except Tessa. And while Ian was spying on her he wasn’t in the restaurant when Mariah called, so he didn’t know either.

Nope, I didn't wonder. One of the possible effects of PCP is making the user momentarily less affected by physical pain. It can also make them feel like they have a sudden rush of strength. Basically the "fight or flight" response kicks into super high gear. For some reason Y&R hasn't done a great job of indicating that's what happened to Sharon. I think they would've been better off saying she was on LSD and five espressos.

I love it when the show opens with two dingbats blowing sunshine up each others’ evacuation tunnels about how they deserve all the good things that life has handed them. How can one not wish these smug numpties a happy new year filled with even more good fortune?

Michael offers us the best of all New Year’s resolutions: to increase his give a fuck deficit at the national bank of Phyllis. I love how all the light and joy fled the room as the pterodactyl and her schmucklings flew in. Phyllis was especially childish, unpleasant and boorish, even by her standards. She can’t even behave in public for her beloved children.

Wow! It’s Claire’s first New Year’s as a Newman! I don’t care.

Ian and Jordan sure escalated things quickly. Meanwhile Abby is dressed for a weekend at the moon disco while people get kidnapped outside her restaurant. That’s going to show up on Yelp, guaranteed.

Good point, Surfs.  That would explain how she could have hoisted a body bigger than herself over the railing.  She had some help.  And it probably would have taken all three of them to do it.

I think that we can all agree that Bonnie and Clyde are certifiable and that whatever their plans are have no grounding in reality.  Like the writers, they are making it up as they go along.

It's been mentioned already, but why didn't Phyllus, Daniel and Summer (who, yeah, should have been with her ailing "son") just stay home?  I'm sure they could have indulged themselves with yet another tradition that was totally Heather's favorite thing to do on NYE.  And Daniel could have cared for his ailing child.  Daniel didn't know Danny was going to show up at the Jazz Grotto and they had to know they were going to run into someone Red was pissed off with. (Since she hates pretty much everybody now)  Same logic, I guess, that keeps them going to Crimson Lights and being upset at running into Sharon.
