I have not been a Y&R viewer for decades; maybe for the last 15 years.  So here is my question: has this show ever been as fixated on just a few characters and plot as it has been these last months? And now Nicki is back.

It's not you Kemp- may I call you Kemp? Anyway, we noticed this a few years back, I think it's a Josh thing. He can't focus on more than a handful of characters at a time so we get the same 6 -8 characters shoved down our gullets until he remembers there are actually other actors in the show. Then he randomly inserts them into scenes which leave the viewer thinking WTF?!? Case in point, the random Sharon sighting last week. And isn't Chance bumping uglies with Dummer? Yet no mention of him from her. The writing is so abysmal, there are no words.

Idk any deets on rehab, but shouldn't it take more than 3 seconds to be even a tiny bit effective?  So Nikki's back, but will she be Drinki again likety-split?  Is the vodka still in the living room pillows -- or will she have to go downstairs & do sharesies on vodka with Jordie?

I thought we were gonna get a "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" moment, which might have provided a brief giggle -- certainly with an added "but y'are, Jordie, y'are."  But alas, Vic (and Braeden) have zero sense of humor & the moment fell flat with the brussels sprouts.  Meh.

Wow, Chance has officially disappeared.  No mention of him from Summer.  No mention of him from Jill at the board meeting.  It's like he not only doesn't exist, but like he's never existed.  OK then, show.

So will Cole find Jordie?  Nick is too big a dunce to . . . well, do or find anything.  I don't care about any of it.  More curious if Phyllis will still be wearing the booby blue dress & if Ashley is still wearing the crazy Charo dress.

Still predicting a June wedding for Kyle & Claire -- oh, with Summer screaming outside the church, like Dustin Hoffman at the end of The Graduate, "MY SON, MY SON, MY SON'', as they take her away to join Ashley & Mamie in the GC loony bin, suggested of course by Sharon, as she's giving out muffins & coffee.

His contract is up and he no longer appears in the credits. I wonder if TPTB will have him on recurring status.  He hasn't been to "work" at C/W for a couple of weeks and huffy puffy Summer hasn't noticed he's been missing either.

I was fully expecting her back in the hot pink outfit she had on at the GCAC binge with Jack.  Ya know, just for continuity's sake with the rest of the characters.

Rant time!:

  • Stop with the ingenue crap with Claire.  Every time she goes out into the 'big wide world' is not an adventure.  Ffs, she went to CL when she was working at NE.  It's not new and she doesn't (I hope) have alters that have been living in solitary for the last 20+ years.  And could Cole tone it down on having to find a new adventure for her every day?  She's now officially 5 years old and needs to be entertained every minute?
  • Somebody needs to set Dummer straight on maternity and rights of a stepmom that is no longer married to the kid's father.  Kyle should file a restraining order.
  • Viktor has become worse than when he was berating/controlling his kids.  The spitting scene was disgusting and added nothing to an already horrific story of him keeping a human being locked in his wine cellar.
  • Couldn't Dummer have clued her boob flashing mama in on how inappropriate that dress was on 'her son's' grandma?  After all, Dummer runs a big fashion house. 😉
  • Daniel needs to hoof it back to Savannah with his not wife and daughter.  Maybe he'll learn how to be an adult for the next contract he signs.  I fail to see how Princess Luisa ownership will make his screwed up life any better.  And how is he affording that condo and I hope Sally got paid in full for the decorating?

It's who Phyllis is, it's what Phyllis does. Years ago when she was still with Jack and she was first introduced to a young Kyle, she had on a low-cut outfit. As she leaned down to greet him she basically waved her cleavage in his face. It was appalling.

I get that it's a part of Phyllis' characterization to flaunt her sexuality but IMO hard lines should be drawn with children. I'll never understand why the show continues to have Phyllis behave that way around kids.

Phyllis perpetually acts like she’s in her 20’s and 30 years later it’s not a good look.

I wonder if they are getting rid of the actor and recasting or not recasting, which would explain why we haven’t seen him in a weeks. Should have had something more believable, which is a stretch for these actors and said that Chance joined Billy on his business tour for CW.

World’s Fastest Recap - The Fast and the Spurious

Victor acts like a serial killer toying with his victim. Brussel sprouts.

Phyllis works herself into a lather over the imaginary injustice done to Daniel. She and Summer gaslight the audience about Claire. Hopefully the gas clears, because one silent but deadly from Nick, who later scolds Phyllis for her vengeful impulses, would wipe Genoa City off the map.

Cole and Nick form their own detective agency, The Hardly Boys.

Kyle petulantly lets Harrison select his own nanny. An empowered Harrison chooses ice cream for every meal and digs up his grandmother’s roses to hunt for dinosaur bones and pirate treasure.

Another funny one from you. Love it !

That whole storyline is disgusting, and all the spitting scene accomplished was to diminish whatever standing EB has as an actor.

It would seem, then, that the quality of the writing hasn't improved over the past 40 years - please, please, please, Y&RPTB, say goodbye to the 80s and move into the 21st century.

What would you think of a woman who has, according to Fandom, a 42-year-old son* still slinking around in peek-a-boob outfits; and she does seem to have a lot of scenes where she's bending over so that the decolletage is on full display, doesn't she - lots of shots where she's leaning forward in a provocative "Oooh, look at my boobies" manner

* The Y&R-PWB really screwed up with Phyllis and Daniel's relative ages - first, Phyllis was born in 1974, and then she was SORASed to being born in 1967, which means that if she has a 42-year-old son, he must have been born when she was 15, but that's not how the MWKs wrote it.

According to Conner Floyd's IMDb page he's been working on other projects but none of them seem to be big deals to me. I agree, this show could've written a temporary exit for Chance but for some reason they've chosen not to. If CF has been let go and it wasn't due to some backstage problems, I think it's a weird way to treat the portrayer of a semi-legacy character.

FYI, there's quote upthread attributed to me but I did not make the comment quoted. I think it'd be great if that didn't continue to happen.

I've had that happen to me too. It's one of the software bugs flaws they never manage to completely eliminate. I'm not sure anyone even bothers to report it anymore.

Eta: Maybe it's just me but any software that needs careful workarounds to function correctly feels buggy, whether or not the term technically applies. 🤷‍♀️

It's a bug that I think can be avoided by taking the extra care to quote from the original comment and not from a comment on a comment. "Care" being the operative word.

I guess Show is letting Kyle stretch his wings.  Yet he still seems to be a petulant child. And not the least bit compelling.  I am actually pulling for Diane to sink him. Claire has aged backwards and presents as a 16-year-old. At most. I am as tired of innocent school-girl Claire as I am of all involved in the Jordan/Nicki's alcoholism/Victor's terribleness, etc.

Lily and Devon today making plans to separate the Winters from the Chancellors; and that Mamie was right all along. Then. Lily will trick Billy into believing she will stay with Chancellor - and Devon can take his company back.  Then. Both she and Nate will quit Chancellor and both return to Winters.   Then.....

Lily suggested that since Mamie wanted this all along, maybe she could also have a part in running Winters.  Devon vetoed this "for now" ... dun dun dun. I was hoping we had seen the last of Mamie.

Va-va-voom, Audra! A bit much for a first date though. That was a social event gown to me.

TMW you're a growna$$ man getting grief from your cousins about who you're going to dinner with.

Yeah, it sounded like Audra mainly wanted to use Nate to make Tucker jealous.

I love the way Tucker tried to work Diane for info about Billy and she was like "Lol, no."

Ooo, Kyle, you're in trouble now. Undercutting your mommy's big business deal for Jabot was a throwing-the-gauntlet-down move.

Kyle. Harrison needs professional help, not play dates with someone still dealing with PTSD herself. WTAF. Tara, come get YOUR son!

Damb, Billy ain't playing! I think his sending that bouquet to Lily and Devon was deliciously cold-blooded. (He must have used the Abbotts' 24-hour delivery florist, tee hee.)

Audra told Nate she used to be a lyrical dancer. Hmmm. I'm having a hard time visualizing it.

Achievement unlocked, Audra. Tucker was indeed gutted to find you on a very public date with Nate.

Hold fast, Summer. Claire is going full-tilt Machiavellian on you and unfortunately she likely has the intellectual advantage.

Why was Sally at Society AGAIN? She must be on a first-name basis with all the staff given how often she goes there in a single day.

OMG, Tucker, stop! You looked like such a p-whipped mope at Audra's door while she was entertaining her gentleman suitor.

Lily's idea has one possible hitch: Billy might want her to sign a non-compete clause. That could prevent her from jumping over to H/W after she gets Billy and Jill to let Devon take his company back.

Cue the slow saxophone music. Nate might be finally about to get him some Audra.

Chance reminds me of when Justin Hartley turned up as Adam. When this show and the Pittsburgh Pirates get some one exceptional in any way it's a matter of prime time before they disappear. Zulika will be next. There are too many shows looking for hunks and dishes. Like Hartley we are taking bets. If the people on Fire Country (except Billy) are anything to go by, pickins' be slim.

Now I’m even more convinced that Claire/Eve doesn’t know that Summer❄️x7 is not Harrison’s biological mother. Claire/Eve by not accepting the job, as Harrison’s nanny, unless Summer❄️X7 approves is proof to that fact.

Tucker acting pathetic is just another of his ploys to gather information.

For some reason Audra mostly reminds me of a paid escort. Even with Nate, they dress she is wearing, for a casual dinner, “with a friend” is a little too revealing.  Audra seems like she’s always ready to take men for a “ride” or should I say use sex as an advantage

I continue not to trust Claire for a second.  Much as I can't stand Summer & her "my son, my son"  crapola, what she's saying makes sense.  And the rest of the Newmans treating her like a wide-eyed 12 year old, when she's an adult well into her 20's, doesn't change the fact that she did awful things to the Newmans.  And that's within the past year.  That the other Newmans have forgiven her so easily is dumb.  And it certainly doesn't mean she should be trusted in the care of a child.

Ah, so now we see how Kyle really feels about Mommy Dearest, eh?  He finally revealed he is purposely undermining her.  Cool.  Now, will she fire him for clearly disobeying her "direct order"?  And how will Jack react to that?  Cuz he's been so wimpy in staying out of their conflict -- and he's on thin ice anyway with Diane for the stupid shit he pulled, trying help Nikki.  Hmmm.

Such mixed signals from Audra.  She's wearing that come-get-me dress & invites Nate up to her room, not necessarily knowing Tuck will show up, so it may not have been to get Tuck jealous.  And yet, the whole thing was about as unsexy as it could be.  That could change in a sec, but the only thing I got outta any of it was what a big loser Tuck has become.

And notice how NOBODY wants to interact with Tuck.  And they see him as an ineffectual loser.  His exchanges with Diane & Sally got him nowhere.  And just what is this supposed mogul doing with his days now?  Chasing after Audra, all sad-eyed, and getting rejected.  And drinking downstairs in the bar by himself.  Can't blame Trevor for the downfall of this character.  Writers have turned him into such a pathetic, uninteresting loser.

Ooooh, so scary how Devon popped that balloon.  We already know you're an angry, hostile little creep, Devon.  Still, that move was very obnoxious of Billy, but they deserved it.  Devon & Lily are so unimpressive as business executives, let alone leaders.  Their plans fail over & over.  And this one will too.  Cuz it's so dumb.  And now they want to follow Mamie's plans?  OK then, morons!!

Poor Audra!  How terrible to be struck with laryngitis in the last scene and to have Nate deliver all your lines?  So nice of Show to let big, strong, blowfish Nate do all the talking for the little lady, spare her poor brain and voicebox.  I sure hope she feels better real soon.

I would buy Tucker being somewhat devastated if Audra had been the one to talk to him that way, but I don't buy his devastated reaction hearing it from Nate.  Anger, yeah, sadness, nope.   I suppose now he's going to have DID and turn into Mr. Peepers when he gets stressed.

Speaking of DID, I'd be fine if Nate had a mild case of it and had something resembling a personality that wasn't always that of a pompous, smug, entitled numbskull.  He thinks he's so smart but so far I've seen scant evidence of it.  Audra is playing him and when Tucker recovers, Nate's going to wish he'd had dinner with his imaginary friend instead of his fake one.

Was Sally stepping in for Sharon, popping in and out of places to lend and ear and give random advice?  She and Tucker were particularly awkward together.

Looks to me like Diane is soon going to be wishing Kyle would fake his own death with the shitty way he's been behaving.  What a mistake it was for Diane to believe the little shit when he insisted that she be the CEO, not him.  How treacherous of her to believe him.  In those phone calls he made today, he came across as pretty smarmy, not as some astute boy genius.  Maybe his bad behavior is because the humid midwest spring has taken the bounce out of his boffant?

Poor Claire, raised in a windowless mushroom farm, fed only worms and warm bowls of fresh spite, only wants to embrace life through the eyes of a child.  Uh huh.  What could be more joyous than doing that with Lil' Hausenpheffer, running through fields, chasing butterflies while hummingbirds bring them fresh nectar for lunch?  Rapunzel had more going for her than this one does.

Dummer, though, wasn't much better.  The only thing she lacked in their scenes together was having her own flying monkey sitting next to her.  Her overprotectiveness might make a bit more sense if she was also intent on keeping her psychotic mother away from Harrison, too.

Quotes can merge when a multi-quote post is edited by the responding poster. It's annoying, however, it's not unique to Primetimer or the software Primetimer uses.
If it happens, you can kindly ask the poster who mistakenly quoted you to please edit the post. A poster can do so by copying the text they quoted, deleting the quote and using the quote feature to paste the copied text into a quote that isn't attributed to anyone or a poster can do it the easier way, by simply noting the correct poster they were quoting in their post.

Please report any other quote, technical issues or bugs here so that they can be addressed properly.

Thank you.

Yep. I think Claire is the classic case of too good to be true. She was raised by a murderous psycho for a couple of decades and had then maybe a couple of weeks of treatment in a psychiatric facility. The only reason she's considered cured is because her new parents Vikki and Cole are running all over town caping for her. There's no way Claire should be allowed alone with children, and certainly not a child who's attracted to her on an unhealthy level. But she puts on her wide-eyed innocent victim look and most people give her a pass. I'm solidly with Summer on Claire not being Harrison's nanny but aargh!

The clothes the actresses wear are expensive when they're bought fresh off the catwalk, as it were. I think Y&R is buying most of the womens' clothing a season or two later, after they've been marked down. A lot of that stuff does show up at places like TJ Maxx, Marshall's, and Ross so it wouldn't surprise me if Y&R's wardrobe people do hit those stores to save money. And in the case of really big name designers, I think Y&R is probably working a product placement deal, especially at big events like a wedding or gala.

Audra was wearing different clothes at breakfast. A new day in GC, finally!

Tucker. Just because Audra was in the dining room with Nate it didn't necessarily mean they'd spent the night together. Yeesh, get over yourself.

One of the Ashley alters lurking nearby during Audra and Tucker's embarrassing public scene. The people she was staring at must have no peripheral vision.

Geez, Cole, Victor is the last person you want to threaten. Have you met him before? You better Pull. Up!

Connor almost sounded like he was losing the will to keep trying to get better. Poor kid. I think his problem is way more complicated than OCD.

Okay, so Audra and Nate didn't do the dirty deed last night after all. Still though, I don't know about Nate allowing himself to be used as a tool in Audra's hunger games with Tucker.

Oh please, Jordan. You're sorry? Seriously? You'd likely still be trying to kill Nikki and other Newmans if you weren't locked up in the wine cellar. Wah, wah, wah.

For a minute it looked to me like Tucker suspected he was dealing with one of Ashley's alters again. Ehhh, maybe not.

Whoo chile, Ms. Abbott went hard at Tucker's resistance. Don't fall for it, T!

Cole. Now you've stepped in it. Uncovering Victor's huge secret puts you in danger too.

Audra, on to the next then on to the next.  Audra never lets her bed get cold.  I don’t blame her at all. It’s just an observation.

Horses can eat Brussel sprouts in moderation because they can cause the horse to get gas and the possibility of colic.

What is Cole’s malfunction?  He should know better than to poke the bear.  So now Cole knows Auntie Jordan is alive. What is he going to do now?

Nate even though I’m not calling Nate Smugly Smug Smug any more, it doesn’t mean he’s stop being a smug ass hat.

I will not comment anymore on Connor’s OCD. For me it’s just a gratuitous story line using a little boy to try to raise Chelsea to someone we care about.

Maybe Connor is being manipulated at whatever treatment center/school he is going to?  If I was his parent I would have removed him weeks/months ago. Well, mosts of us would not have sent him there to begin with.  It cannot be that hard to find a therapist/counselor/psychologist close to home.  That would treat on an outpatient basis. This storyline is as insulting, actually worse,  as Jordan/Nicki/Victor etc. etc.

There's a whole world outside of the GCAC dining room or the jazz lounge. I didn't get why Tucker was putting up with crazypants Ashley instead of just going somewhere else.

Meanwhile, helping yourself to the booze in a closed bar has to be illegal, no? One would think the GCAC would keep the jazz club locked while the bar is closed.

Stale brussel sprouts must have a pungent odor. Strong enough to be vomit-inducing. It's a wonder to me Jordan didn't puke her guts out, especially since she hasn't been consuming anything but vodka.

You summed it up well.

Ashley sounded nuts to me.  Was Tuck amused by her weird come-on behavior?  I'd run, but he's such a weirdo, maybe he was sorta turned on by her looney shit.  Btw, anyone notice mean/killer Ashley seems to love black lace?  Looks very Stevie Nicks to me.  OK, then.

Audra, Audra, Audra.  What is she doing?  My first thought was of a line Sofia said in the Golden Girls 35 years ago -- "I said it before and I'll say it again -- sluts heal quicker!"  But she's not actually slutty here at all -- just trying hard as heck to appear that way to Tuck.  Why?  Her hint to Nate about a job at C-W gave me a giggle cuz yesterday Lily & Devon snickered derisively about him going out with her.  So no, Audra, no chance of a job at C-W, hun.  Idk, as couple, Nate & Audra are pretty dull.  Go back to Tuck, sweetie.

Oh no, more waterworks from Melissa Claire Egan.  I can't, show, make it stop, please!  Can't Vic throw her in the basement prison & forget about her?  I only feel bad for the kid actor playing such a sad sack part.  Anyone with a brain would get the kid outta that place ASAP, but these 2 are such dimwits.

Sheesh, Vic going thru a secret door with a silver tray is making me wonder -- are the writers getting inspiration from The Addams Family or The Munsters?  This is looking so ridiculous & silly.  Vic is sounding & acting like Vincent Price in some of his stupider movies.  Still, poking at Vic is certainly not wise.  Cole could find himself bunking in the cell with Jordie . . .

They certainly do.  The only smell more pungent, I think, is the stench of a badly written story.  PeeeeYUUUUUUU, Josh.

It was so odd that Tucker just sat there while Ashley went behind the bar and stole that bottle of wine.  Bad enough that the bar was closed, but who on earth wants to drink red wine for breakfast?

DOOL is currently miles better and more enjoyable than Y&R and I can't think of anything worse to say about the current state of Show than that.

A Brief Recap - Pricks of Misery

Connor is miserable. Adam and Chelsea are miserable. The audience is forced to wallow in their mutual misery.

Victor performs more cruciferous vegetable based torture on his hostage. Cole doggedly pursues the Brussels sprout trail to its logical conclusion - a wine cellar that reeks of booze, pungent produce and Victor’s hellish trapped cabbage farts. Hey, it’s Jordan!

Tucker and Nate launch an uninspired dick measuring contest. Ashley’s annoying alters debate the merits of homiciding Tucker.

All in all, quite dreary. Zero drama or suspense wrung out of Cole discovering Victor’s secret wine cellar prison. The OCD storyline just goes in depressing circles.

What is he going to do now?

Take a video and rush to the nearest police station before Viktor finds out?

I think Assley is playing by Club Rules:  she's a member of the GCAC and can avail herself of anything she wants/needs.  She did the same thing with Society, only then it was MotherofOwner Rules.

I wonder what Cole’s intentions are now that he knows Jordan is in Victor’s personal prison. I know he’s going to talk to Michael. What do you think he wants to do? Turn Victor and Jordan in to the police? Tell Victoria and Nick? Let her escape or what?

I didn’t get why Tucker didn’t leave three or four times over when black widow Ashley was playing her mind games on him. Is he using her as a distraction because he’s so upset about Audra. He doesn’t seem in top form either so he’s probably not thinking clearly. Do you think this is when black widow Ashley wants to enact her plan to kill Tucker?
