It wasn't until that horrible storyline about Adalind posing as Juliette and sleeping with Nick came into the picture that this show went down hill. Hell, even the resistance/baby was okay/tolerable (to me) until that rape storyline. I am going to miss the Wesen of the week story, and agree Adalind raping Nick was when the show just lost its charm. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/10764-grimm-in-the-media-news-ratings-scheduling/page/13/#findComment-2883977

Yeap, I agree. I mean I could tolerate pretty much anything else that came before that the Adalind's magical baby, Kelly being alive and leaving with the magical baby, the whole resistance being aimed less and the Royals being undefined bad guys who lived far away, the sudden appearance of the Keys and the Coins and their disappearance, etc... 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/10764-grimm-in-the-media-news-ratings-scheduling/page/13/#findComment-2884037

The show went off the rails when they started pushing Crane's wife and his evil son in s1 / s2 and now both are dead. I think SH brought in new show runners or maybe the network stepped in and cleaned house. I do know that networks have yanked show runners several times in the last two years, especially where the show seems popular. 17 hours ago, Darklazr said: I read where SH killed off Abby and now there is some new chick on the show in a screenshot with Crane. I thought Crane and Abby were hot and the show just kept on pushing the witchy wife and son. Boo! There was a massive campaign (#AbbyMillsDeservesBetter) on Twitter. With all the mainstream critics agreeing, around the middle of Season 2, the showrunners were replaced and we got the awesome final ep of Season 2 "Tempus Fugit" (If you were ever a fan of SH, you have to see it!). Season 3 started off well enough, with a few problems ("Busty" Ross high among them), but a villain who had some great scenes with Abby, and giving Jenny something to do. The back half of Season 3 wen totally off the rails, and the death of Abby in the Season 3 finale killed the show for me. To bring this back to Grimm, a network can force a showrunner out, but it's not at all common, and the replacement might be worse! TobinAlbers January 10, 2017 Share January 10, 2017 (edited) Portland companies saying good-bye to Grimm. ETA: The good/sad thing about Grimm was that it really was a surprise for NBC when it premiered to great numbers and was holding steady for that first season. They were even testing it on Thursdays trying to move it off Friday for a bit, but wisely (IMO) kept it on Friday so they had some kind of presence. Unfortunately, they never were able to parlay it into a bigger hit to catch the zeitgeist like an Angel or Buffy. I think that had a lot to do with it not having a cohesive mythology that build upon itself and veered away from memorable seasonal big bads. Greenwalt initially made one think they'd follow the 'Angel' script of wesen of the week mixed with mythology as the components were all there but they just kinda stayed in the middle with massive story swerves at the end of a season that were waved away the following season. No, they tried putting Grimm on Mondays and Tuesdays, Monday actually end up with lower ratings than Friday, and the ratings weren't that great so it was wisely moved back to Fridays. Weak competition is actually a thing on Fridays along with lower ratings network expectations, better to be a medium fish in a small pound than get horrible numbers on a weeknight leading to cancellation. The scheduling worked for the most part, I doubt the show would have lasted this long on any other day that Friday. They don't seem to be willing to actually *fix* a show when it starts going wrong--and Grimm is not the first show on NBC that I've seen this happen to. There is another show, on another network, that I watch that had a great (albeit unluckily timed) premise and a strong first or second episode before it started to nosedive. However, that network decided to pull the show runners and put someone else in charge when it comes back for the second half of its first season. I'm not sure if that is enough to save the show (again, the timing of the show is unfortunate), but I do at least admire the fact that the network was willing to step in. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I've seen many more complaints about networks pulling show runners or main story arcs when they didn't need to, than complaints that networks didn't move fast enough to "fix" a show gone wrong. It has to be a tough call, and even on these boards, people have different opinions on when Grimm "went wrong." 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/10764-grimm-in-the-media-news-ratings-scheduling/page/13/#findComment-2986398

Nope. However, I would watch Kelly Jr., Diana, and the Triplets kick ass in their own show, with cameos on occasion from the Grimm cast, minus Juliette! I guess that makes more sense that she was meant to launch a spinoff, but it wouldn't have worked so it was wisely shelved. I agree and wished the show had simply killed the character or left her offscreen like they did with Holly the young blutbad. TobinAlbers October 16, 2018 Share October 16, 2018 We might be getting a spin-off afterall! It's gotta be about the kids or following Trubel. Either way I'm in. The show may have been inconsistent but I loved the world of the show. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/10764-grimm-in-the-media-news-ratings-scheduling/page/13/#findComment-4757150

I can't say I'm interested...the original was such an effing mess that became downright offensive, but at least this one has a different writer (I never watched Iron Fist, so I am not familiar with her). I will say that the two possible spinoffs--the kids or Trubel, are both turn-offs for me. If they go with the kids, they have to continue with the whole idea that rape is romantic and that is something I will not watch. If it is about Trubel, I"m out--no interest in the character or the actress. Now, if they went a completely different direction, I might be persuaded to give it a try. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/10764-grimm-in-the-media-news-ratings-scheduling/page/13/#findComment-4757262
NJRadioGuy October 17, 2018 Share October 17, 2018 This is the single best news I've heard on the scripted entertainment front in a very long time. I don't care if we ever see Nick, Adelind, Renard, or Juliette again, but I so miss Munroe and Rosalee. And even if the regulars only make the occasional cameo for a flashback I'd be so happy to see that wonderfully-built world come alive again. I don't know whether they'll focus on the present or the future (the kids taking up the mantle from the parents), but the stories I always loved the best were the Wessen-of-the-week plots. I never cared about the Royals or anything in the overall arc. It was the world that drew me in and I miss it terribly. And Bud. Damnit, I loved that guy! When I heard that they were going in to their final season I was thinking a good way to end the show would have been to have Nick die, and all the Good Wessen showing up from around the world, wogeing in respect at the funeral—in essence, rebooting the world's power and letting everybody know what was going on. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/10764-grimm-in-the-media-news-ratings-scheduling/page/13/#findComment-4758414

There wouldn't have been a dry eye in the house if they did that. And it would have easily set up a spin off in the near-future with a Grimm task force, aided by Wessen on the side of good teaming up to take down the bad ones. It'll be more difficult if they choose to focus on the kids, twenty-odd years in the future. I didn't like the character and hated the actress. (I *might* be persuaded to watch if they recast her...) 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/10764-grimm-in-the-media-news-ratings-scheduling/page/13/#findComment-4758669
