  1. There are so many good network shows and I HATE that they are seen as inferior because they aren’t on cable or a streaming platform. And it will just get worse as more streaming services are released with their own original content.
  2. Public libraries as well! I work at one and we get the DVD sets of shows from sources like HBO and Netflix. Only big exception I've noticed in our system is Amazon.
  3. Teaser Trailer Released for Season 3
  4. I think they would have married young but Camilla was seen as an unacceptable choice for the future king. Remember this was before Kate and Meghan. The heir couldn’t be seen to marry someone “with a past.”(Read; not a virgin) It’s crazy because would anyone have really cared in the 1970’s about someone not being a virgin?
  5. I think a lot of their treatment of Harry is down to fear of anything out of the ordinary and which they can't explain, and in Petunia's case, jealousy. Not that it excuses it, of course, but I really liked how we saw in the last book she was jealous of Lily and wanted to join the magical world and go to Hogwarts. It rang true, and added another dimension to the character. That being said, I would also say two other bad parents in the series, though more to a negligent extent, would be Lily and Petunia's parents. We only really see them through Petunia's eyes, but it sounds like they were super excited to have a witch in the family and fawned over Lily, which left Petunia feeling left out. They should have seen or anticipated this and done more to help Petunia deal with her feelings that ultimately helped cause the rift between the sisters and turned Petunia against anything magic. I mean, if they had done more to make Petunia feel less like the "loser" sister, she would have been totally different towards Harry. Their failure to recognize and help her overcome her toxic jealousy did her no favors.
  6. I just started both "The Vacationers" by Emma Straub and "Lock Every Door" by Riley Sager. Enjoying both so far!
  7. I was worried about that to. I don’t know if you watch Victoria on PBS but that is the kinda thing they would pull, they play so fast and loose with historical accuracy. Especially in this case, with what really happened to the family being so tragic, it would have seemed so disrespectful to have them pull a switch that one survived.
  8. Man, that was rough. So sad how it all went wrong and the innocent kids got wrapped up in it. One of the saddest scenes was seeing Nicholas and Alex taking to each other in their room before the murders. Very wistful and a mix of where did it go wrong and what’s going to happen to us all. I really enjoyed this series, but found it extremely frustrating at times watching them make the often avoidable mistakes and steps that led to their downfall. Maybe it’s the benefit of hindsight, but there were so many chances and places they could have done better or turned things around. I also liked the ending with the post script of what happened to their family and Russia and their fate and bodies took so long to find. Did a good job of making the jump from 1918 to present day with it feeling like an exposition dump.
  9. It's funny... In all three of those examples, the killing of the sovereign(s) ended up either not working, as in how the English monarchy was restored, or making things worse, such as with the French Reign of Terror or Stalin leading Russia. Just goes to show how futile violence can be, often having disastrous consequences.
  10. This video shows why I hate that phrase. In a world of real issues, where there is actual struggles and even danger, them remaking something you liked as a kid should be the least of your problems.
  11. People are the worst. Apparently people are bullying the actress who played Morgan Stark. Her family put out a video online to get people to stop. How bad does your life have to be to get to the point where you bully a 7 year old?
  12. And I thought the Ross and Rachel relationship couldn't be more toxic... Apparently fans booed the actress who played Julie at tapings. I always hated the Julie storyline and thought it was Rachel at her worst and most possessive of Ross. You've been spending a year hanging out with Ross at that time and had your chance. You finally realize you like him and he's with another person. A mature adult would think, "I've missed my chance" and be upset for a while and move on. Rachel is a total jerk to Julie and even gets upset when others in the group hang out with her, blaming Julie for "dating the man I'm probably supposed to be with." UGH! Rachel sometimes strikes me as immature and vapid and stuff like that doesn't help.
  13. The commercial for Hazelnut Spread M&M'S. Am I the only one who finds this disturbing? Cannibal candy? Really?
  14. Loved that finale! Thought it wrapped up the season nicely. Glad Nate and his father got a moment together. Only this show can have the heroes save the day with the power of music and love and make it work.
  15. Wow! Three seasons! That would explain why a renewal wasn’t announced before now. I’m sure that a multi-season renewal like that is a bear to work out contract-wise.
  16. I work in a public library system and we once had someone bring a service kangaroo into one of our branches.
  17. This is the portrayal I hope we get on the show. That it wasn't as one-sided as most accounts paint it. See, this is the whole thing that gets me about the situation. It seems like a rare misstep from the Windsors in reading public mood and adapting to modernised public expectations. They have adapted to public expectations throughout the years. Look at how Lord Altrinchams suggestions ended up being implemented. Would anyone in the 70s have really cared if the women Charles married wasn't a virgin? I see why they wouldn't want someone known for having relationships with an army of men, and the person he married would need to be able to represent the grace and dignity expected of the royals, but it's like they thought the public would revolt if Charles' wife wasn't the living embodiment of a Disney princess.
  18. Wait... SHE rejected royal/government protection? I was led to understand that it was taken away after the divorce because she was no longer a member of he royal family. That would be the stupidest thing she could do! At that point she had been a public figure for almost two decades and had seen what the paparazzi and tabloids would do for her picture or a story. If she gave that up voluntarily she was being either naive, shortsighted or both.
  19. Honestly, I think that her relationship with the press did lead to her death. She used and courted the press to get the public on her side, but where she gave an inch they took a mile. It became a beast that eventually consumed her. She made herself a commodity and the press couldn't get enough of it. Just look at all the trash being spread about Meghan Markle in the tabloid, like the people saying she isn't really pregnant. How much worse would that be if William and Harry, and later their wives, had a friendlier relationship with the press where they actively sought attention for themselves. I think they learned from the experience of their mother and both of them seem to have very set boundaries between the press and their families.
  20. Right? Also; they are in LA, the land of pampered pooches with rich owners! There has to be an enormous market for pet paraphernalia out there in Southern CA. I actually think it's a pretty clever idea. I could see those beds being sold in stores. It's not any more outrageous then what I see for sale in the pets section at Target or at Petsmart.
  21. Right? We are now getting casting news on season 4 and we don’t even know when season 3 will be!
  22. So much fun! The only thing is I would have loved to seen the Legends at Disney. I could see Ray totally gong gaga and getting into it. Also; Mick on "It's a Small World" would be the best thing I've seen on TV this year. Poor Hank! He was trying to do right by Nate. Also, poor Nora being blamed. At least, based on the promo for next week,
  23. Thanks for transcribing that! That letter is amazing. It is totally in keeping with Lex's character. I get a kick out of the fact that while he couldn't help monologuing, he was smart enough to do it AFTER carrying out his evil scheme!
